Brotherhood Ch.21
Mecha: Hey everyone! *waves*
Xehta: Hey readers. Xehta here.
Orange: *Comes in walking next to Mecha* How long has it been?
Xehta: Way too long.
Mecha: Hey! I was doing Untold Tales of Travelers! And this one chapter was torture to write. *holds up bandaged paws*
Orange: Well Purple makes writing seem like it's more mental than physical.
Mecha: Cut me some slack Orange...I have a poor keyboard set up.
Orange: As poor as a penny?
Mecha: ...no slack at all.
Orange: Ow. Probably means our heroes didn't get any of that either.
Xehta: At least it's done. And it looks like it's going to be big.
Mecha: Yes. And it's not even the finale. *smiles*
*Cheer from the crowd.*
Orange: Well what are we doing keeping them in the dark?
Mecha: Right. On with the show.
The group had all settled down after a long walk to reach the front of the string of Brotherhood bases. Robie and Saria had taken off to immediately attack the base past their last one so as to keep the Brotherhood occupied. Of the whole group, 2 were still awake.
Flint panted, than yawned after he finished another night's training. Albel walked beside him as they returned to the others. Upon reaching the small clearing that they had settled in for the night, Albel went to a tree, took a seat, and leaned against it. Albel joined the spot next to his sister and parents, yawning again before settling in to sleep.
Inferno's eye opened up, looking toward his son. Sure he was sleeping; Inferno raised his head, looking to the lucario. "...just what are you teaching him?"
Albel cracked an eye open, "How to fight...don't you think he should learn how to defeat an opponent." The lucario shut his eye again, "Besides...I'm the only one who actually knows how to use a blade."
Inferno eyed him, "You better not get him hurt."
Albel chuckled, "Bah...your concern is pointless...he's actually a decent pupil."
Inferno eyed the lucario for a bit longer, than sighed, laying his head onto the ground. Albel looked to the houndoom, than looked up at the moon. He began humming a small tune to himself, his eyes slowly drifting shut.
*****
The group crept silently through the brush on the side of the main road. They were nearing the first of many bases that they would have to go through before reaching the Brotherhood's main base, and Kage. The group had to be as stealthy as possible, since the Brotherhood was sure to know they were coming. They needed to keep the enemy in the dark to their presence for as long as possible.
Albel was by far the stealthiest, quickly dashing from cover to cover, little more than wind. The others didn't do quite as well, but he was still doing well considering they were avoiding detection.
*****
A screen flickered to life, showing the form of Kage. "Yami...your post will be attacked first..."
A spiky, violet haired human bowed, "Do not worry Master Kage...they won't pass."
"They had better not. For if you fail...you'd do well to cut off your own head." Kage cut the feed. Yami stood still, a bead of sweat traveling down his face. He pushed a button, "Men...on alert...we'll be getting company soon enough." He wiped his brow, than got his morning-star. "I will not die..."
*****
Albel held up his paw, motioning for them to stop. Through the shrubbery and underbrush they could see a wooden palisade castle. "It's not much...at first glance...but that's actually petrified wood...so it's basically rock. And the one in it is also deceiving at first glance."
Flint looked to his trainer, "Who is he?"
"Yami. He wields a morning-star, but it's powerful...a swing creates a sonic boom. But Yami isn't really all that much dangerous than he looks. Just don't get cocky." Albel unsheathed his katana, "Now...how to deal with this little base."
"Stealth?" Rika suggested.
Bane shook his head, "No...look." He pointed to two guards...who were obviously looking for something."
"They know we're coming...so we wouldn't be able to do much stealth work before raising alarms." Death pointed out, his tentacles waving in anticipation.
Albel smirked, "Bane...you, Inferno, and Azur run to the rear of the base and cause havoc."
Sky glared, "What!?" She snapped.
"You can't protect them forever...besides...she should be able to take care of herself."
Inferno sighed, "I hate to say it...but he's right Sky..."
Albel grinned, "Myself...Death...and Flint will take the front. The rest of you sneak in from the side. Once you're in...Blaze and Tia will go for Yami. Sky, Rika, and Ferra...you stay inside the courtyard and keep anyone trying to get to the main keep busy. Okay?"
The other's nodded, and separated to reach their objectives. Flint gulped down a knot in his throat, his body shaking at the thought of what was coming. Death stretched out his neck and tentacles, "This is gonna be great."
Albel flashed a malicious grin, "Oh yeah...let's go!" The three rushed to the front. The two guards were barely able to yell out for help before they were felled. An alarm rang out, along with a voice motioning for everyone to rush the front gate. Albel smirked, "Time to see if you're a weakling...or something more pup." Several humans and pokemon rushed towards the trio.
*****
Azur shivered, feeling antsy with the coming fight. Inferno sighed, "Calm down Azur...and don't get reckless."
She smiled, "Don't worry daddy...I won't." she looked to the fortress as the alarm sounded, two guards passing by at that time. "Looks like it's our cue." Inferno nodded, the three leaping on the hapless guards. Soon enough the alarm sounded again, pointing to the base's rear. Azur grinned, kicking sand into the face of a guard as more approached.
*****
With one alarm blaring, the third group tensed. The typhlosion, tyranitar, absol, floatzel, and raichu were ready to break down the fake wooden wall; they just needed to wait for Inferno's group to draw further attention away from the flanks. And then the second alarm sounded, and footsteps echoed out as soldiers went to both ends of the fort.
They waited a few moments, than they nodded to one another. Tia unleashed a hyperbeam, Blaze helping with a psybeam, and Ferra with a water pulse. The three attacks shattered the petrified wood, and let the group into the courtyard. Yet another alarm rang out, "The enemy is in the courtyard!"
From a several large barracks yet more soldiers, human and pokemon, came out, ready to fight. Sky, Rika and Ferra moved forward to meet them, "Get going!" Sky called out to the mates. Blaze unleashed another psybeam, shattering the main keeps door, and the two went in to find Yami.
*****
Flint leapt up, and then came down with a sword slash to the back of a human. The moment his paws touched the ground, he span about slicing the throat of a granbull. The pokemon, stunned that a little absol had bested him, fell back. Two spear carrying humans and a scizor came at him. Flint gave his head a fling, sending his blade through the pokemon, sliding under the spear thrusts. He pulled his sword out of the bug pokemon, and slashed out both humans' legs, sending them to the ground.
A scyther came at the pup's side, but fell headless, Albel smirking. "I won't let you hog all the fun you little pup." He rushed into a throng of rushing soldiers. A flurry of gleaming blades, blue and black fur, and crimson jets of blood filled the mass, as one by one they fell to the lucario. A machoke rushed forward, hand held high for a karate chop, but the ex-Black Brigade leader quickly lopped his arm off. Before the fighter could recover, an enhanced metal claw finished him off.
Death was occupied with his own end of the fight, laughing as his enemies just seemed to run right into his attacks. He disarmed one human of his spear, snapping the sap's neck, before sending the weapon into another human. The spear also managed to pierce ampharos, but it didn't' deter any of the soldiers. An ursaring charged the winged mightyena, and Death met him with a pilfered sword through the throat. The bear collapsed on the ground, crushing a hapless houndoom. Death flicked his tentacles, grinning, "Come on dogs...face the male who has challenged Death himself...and won." The mightyena grinned, as that seemed to stop the fervor.
*****
Azur grinned, using a new attack she had mastered on a human's face. The flamethrower had him screaming in agony. She leapt off his back, and ducked in-between the legs of a gallade, taking a chomp out of his shin. The fighter/psychic type fell to the ground, bellowing in pain. Azur smirked, watching as an axe wielding soldier charged her. The female human let out a war cry, swinging down, but missed her target, which nailed her back with a flamethrower. The soldier screamed out, catching on fire. Azur chuckled, "I'm good."
Not far from his daughter, Inferno fought off his own opponents. Two sword and shield armed soldiers rushed him from both sides. Inferno chuckled, leaping up and forward, twisting midair. The two soldiers ran into each other, falling to the ground, open up to fire blasts. The houndoom turned to face a vaporeon and hitmontop. The fighter rushed in, spinning widely, the vaporeon launching a water gun to speed him up and render any fire attacks useless. Inferno ran forward to meet the charge, his tail glowing white, with fire and darkness further empowering his iron tail. With a quick turn, the attack connected, and sent the fighter right into the water type.
Before the two could even think of getting up though, a human joined them. Bane laughed, leaping over spear thrust from the human's comrade. The spear wielder fell in a heap from a crunch to the neck. A donphan came at the dark type with a rollout attack, but Bane wet it with an iron tail, sending the mon into his own allies, taking out several of the Brotherhood soldiers. A shiftry was next to try his chances, his two leaf fans glowing with an impending razor leaf. As the leaves came, Bane countered with a shadow ball, the attack shattering the leaf barrage, and stunning the shiftry long enough for the mightyena to land an iron tail. The dark/grass type fell to the ground, Bane growling as more soldiers came.
*****
Sky dodged and weaved through the humans and pokemon, delivering slashes to vital areas. A human armed with a mace managed to stop her graceful killing with a slam into the ground in front of her. He lifted his weapon, and began another swing. Sky rolled her eyes, using an icebeam to freeze his arm at the shoulder. The mace dropped, as Sky unleashed a razor wind to finish him off. But a torkoal quickly took the human's place, launching a fire blast. Sky leapt to the size, and then again to avoid an overheat. Sky prepared her own attack as the fire type kept up his assault, until another fire blast approached. The absol smirked, unleashing another razor wind, cutting the fire attack, and the launcher of it in two. The female smirked, moving back to her dance.
Ferra was darting around the battle field with aqua jet. She'd occasionally stop her mad dashing to unleash either an aqua pulse or a sonic boom. Her tactic was working too, since she was able to badly cripple the attack strength of the soldiers as a whole, giving Rika and Sky even more of an advantage. But eventually she became a cause for concern of the soldiers, and she was met by a human flanked by a leafeon and purugly. Ferra held her ground, waiting for them to come, and they did. As the human raised his blade, she unleashed a water pulse, knocking him back, and his blade flying out of his hands. The leafeon, attempting a leafblade, was met with a sonic boom, and was sent fumbling along the ground. The purugly had prepared to slash, and launched the attack, but it was stopped by the blade, Ferra having taken it up. Using all of her strength the floaztel swung the blade, killing the feline, but the heavy weapon flew out of her paws and into the recovering human. Ferra gulped; glad she hadn't hit a friend, but she had to turn her attention to even more enemies.
Rika grinned, her tail swinging about left and right, up and down...everywhere as it glowed with the power of an iron tail. Accompanying the iron tail, were mega and thunder punches, and foes were being brought down all around her. Eventually they fell back, to put distance between themselves and Rika. The raichu smirked, "Come on...can't you take down one little female." She chuckled, watching as a spear wielder with a shield took her challenge and charged forward. She slammed her iron tail into the ground, and under the cover of the dust used dig. The human didn't see it coming, when she shot out of the ground from behind him, impaling him with her tail. As she pulled it out she took his spear, and gave a sloppy throw right into the chest of a cacturne. The pokemon fell down, as more of the warriors approached Rika, cautiously.
*****
A human yelled out for assistance, before his head was smashed again the wall. Tia turned to an approaching mightyena and hitmonlee who had answered the call, and were greeted by a fire blast. Blaze looked around, seeing that they had reached a fork, than decided on the left path. The tyranitar followed behind him, making a small spin to use a hyper beam on some pursuers. Thanks to the diversions, they were encountering little resistance, and anyone who did cross their path was quickly overcome thanks to the fact no one seemed to be expecting them to be inside the keep.
The couple went through one floor after another, leaving the bodies of poor saps in their wake. Eventually they reached the top floor, just below the roof. Before the two stood a large door, "This must be it Blaze." The typhlosion nodded, noticing the two guards coming for them. Both had pikes in their hands, and were heavily armored. Tia went to meet both of them, stopping their simultaneous stabs, yanking them both up and into opposite walls. Both groaned, but got up quickly, rushing the armored pokemon, their pikes coming down, and meeting her tough hide. They didn't relent though, and kept up the attack, trying to find and exploit a weak point...until one was sent out a window from a psychic blast. The other guard, remember that a typhlosion was also there, turned to face the fire type. The human went limp though, Tia's iron tail piercing his chest.
With the guards dispatched, and no sign of pursuit, the couple opened the door and went in. They met a human with spiky, violet hair. He was garbed in black chainmail and a black morning-star was in his hand. "Only two of you...such an arrogant assumption...it will take more than you two to beat me. I am Yami! And I will not lose!" He swung his weapon, a sonic boom shooting out and knocking Blaze into a wall. The typhlosion cursed, "Damn it."
*****
A loud thud sounded out, but was quickly drowned by the noise of the rest of the battle. A garchomp lay slain, the absol who had snuffed out his life dodging the attack of a human. Flint blocked slash after slash from the human, who was soon joined by a sceptile. It had become apparent that the absol pup wasn't to be underestimated, and not given less pressure than the other two. And to this...Flint could only smile, as he pressed the human back, sliced open the grass type's stomach, and gave the man a razor wind to the neck. Flint smirked, watching as several of his enemies backed away, stunned into silence. The absol picked his blade back up, and dug his claws into the ground. Crimson stains were splashed across his fur, as he gave his most intimidating look. Albel had told him that if you broke an opponents will through intimidation, you won no matter how skilled that enemy was.
Albel gave a cackle, as he dropped another three soldiers. A grumpig, monferno, and zangoose were next on his hit list. The lucario leapt toward the three pokemon, his claw glowing with a powered up aura sphere. The attack met the zangoose, sending her flying back and hard into a tree. Albel's blade than cleaved the arm off the ape, before finding home through the chest of the swine. The two pokemon fell to the ground, as Albel looked for his next victims, and found it in a charging pike wielding human. Albel walked forward, smirking, "Slice and dice!" He charged up his metal claw, and started going back and forth in a forward motion, reducing the pike to splinters, and the human to a hacked up mess. Albel cackled, "Come on! Can't you maggots do any better!?"
A human let out a scream, before slamming into the ground. Death swooped in from his aerial drop, his tentacles each unleashing an air cutter into the stunned mass of humans and pokemon. He grabbed two unlucky souls next, and smashed them into fort wall. Death then dodged a sludge bomb, turning he launched a shadow ball into the attacking muk. The blast that wiped off the head of the muk was followed by even more shadow balls, until the muk was piles of goo everywhere...unable to reform. The rest of the soldiers merely stayed put, waiting for his attack. Death smirked, "This is so pathetic." He rushed forward into them, unleashing a smokescreen. Under the haze screams echoed out, and several of those who hadn't been slain began running out of the cloud.
Under the sheer might of the opponents, the rest of the Brotherhood soldiers eventually routed. Their moral was dust, and they fled in every direction they could.
*****
Azur let out a laugh, using a spear she had taken to trip a ryperior. The ground/rock type had fallen on his back, taking out some more soldiers. A whap with the spear made sure the mon was out cold, letting the houndour focus on other foes. The next enemy was going to be a abomasnow, who unleashed a sheer cold attack, but it missed. The houndour was slightly disappointed by her opponent, but shrugged it off, unleashing a flamethrower, lighting the ice/grass type up. The pokemon screamed in agony as it ran about, setting others on fire. Azur laughed, turning to face more opponents...but before she could do anything a aggron slammed into the group. "Daddy! Those were mine!"
Inferno chuckled, "Sorry Azur." He turned unto more enemies, unleashing several shadow balls, sending his enemies careening into other soldiers, trees, or just out of the area. A human charged, a naginata in his hands, and Inferno met the attack with an iron tail, knocking the blade off the weapon. The soldier stumbled back, getting blasted by a dark fire blast. A nidoking was next to try his luck with the houndoom. But the poison "king" wasn't alone, he was flanked by several other mon and people. Inferno shook his head, "Pointless." He unleashed a dark fire beam, and blew them all away.
Bane unleashed a hyper beam himself, taking out several opponents. He noticed that the numbers were greatly decreased, and not just from the defeat being handed to the soldiers, some were running away. Just then another mightyena appeared, "Die!" she used an iron tail, and Death matched her attack. The two were soon engaged in an iron tail duel, exchange blow for blow. Bane growled, pushing into his opponent, and she was starting to falter. Than with a misstep, she was bash around, before being smacked away. Bane smirked, "Not bad."
All of a sudden several soldiers ran from both sides of the fort. "Get out of here! There are demons at the gate!" Demoralized from their own fight, the soldiers broke and ran.
*****
Sky unleashed an icebeam, freezing a meganium solid. The dark pokemon than turned her attention on two soldiers who were charging with axes. Sky let them come, before leaping between them, her claws slashing out their sides. The two fell to the ground, and Sky just smirked, wondering what was next. She leapt away from her current spot, dodging a aura sphere from a lucario. She glared at the mon, who glared right back, before charging her. Sky ran to meet the charge, sliding under a high kick from the steel fighter. The lucario glared at her, and quickly spun to press his attack, using a force palm. Sky leapt over him than, her claws raking along his back, an ice beam used to intensify the pain, and take him out.
Ferra dodged a mega punch from a hitmonchan, than another punch...than another and another. The fighter type wasn't giving the floatzel any chance to retaliate. The water type could only dodge, waiting for a chance to retaliate, and soon enough she got an opening. With all his effort to keep her pinned, he was tiring out, and that led him to taking just long enough between punches for Ferra to blast him away with a water gun, followed by a water pulse. The fighter was knocked through a barracks window. Ferra panted lightly, shaking her head, "Thick skulled and ugly freak." She used an aqua jet to join back into the fray.
Rika was a mon of terror now for all the soldiers. She was just grinning silly, motioning for them to come at her. "Can't you take down a little raichu?" she giggled, sparking up. When no one came for her, she unleashed a thunder bolt, striking one poor human. The rest made another charge, and Rika met it with an electric charged, and spinning iron tail. Screams echoed out in the courtyard as mon were sent flying, the raichu's tail not only shocking, but leaving nasty gashes as well. The electric mouse came to a stop, and quickly dispatched of any nearby soldiers. "This is just way to easy...is this all Kage can muster?" she sighed, and turned her attention to some more enemies.
But those soldiers who were still up quickly took their leave of the fort, finding the battle to be lost. And it was a good assessment, since it was 100% true.
*****
Tia growled, using a mega punch. Yami was sent across the room, but he wasn't down. "Not good enough!" he swung his morning-star several times, each swing unleashing a sonic boom. Tia absorbed all the attack, holding firm against the assault. "How's this then?" Blaze's eyes were glowing blue, as a psychic blast shot into Yami. The human was knocked into the wall, but he kept on his feet, "I'm not anyone you've faced before...I won't go down so easy." He swung his weapon once more, the sonic boom smashing into Blaze's face, knocking the typhlosion off his feet.
But the distraction allowed Tia to close the gap with Yami, and smash him with another punch into a different wall, and she kept going at him. Yami glared, bringing his morning-star down, and onto the tyranitar's head. Tia let out a cry of pain, the strike pushing her to a knee. Yami raised his weapon again, and was about to strike against when a psybeam knocked it from his hand. Yami looked to Blaze, and for it got a punch to the gut, Tia glaring at him as she grabbed his leg and tossed him away from his weapon.
The two mates stood between the human and his morning-star. Yami glared, "I...won't...be...defeated!" he rushed them. Tia unleashed a hyper beam, Blaze using a fire blast. The attacks slammed him through the wall, and down to the ground. Yami landed with a dull thud.
*****
The group gathered at the courtyard of the fort, all of them were panting, covered in dust and blood. Sky was relieved that her pups had made it through the battle, though she had been startled to see Flint covered in blood. But they didn't have long to celebrate their victory, Inferno pointing out the fact, "Come on guys...we need to get into the forest cover...I'm sure we can expect company if we stay here too long."
The other nodded, and ran into the forest until they found a safe area. Mercifully there was water nearby to drink, and wash off the grim of battle. They ate a little food, than took much needed rest from the battle. Albel smiled, leaning against a tree, "One down...two to go...than...you're mine Nadox." But soon, even he gave in to the allure of sleep.
*****
Kage smirked, "Yami was weak, I'm not surprised he failed." The leader of the Brotherhood chuckled, "And...this might just be interesting before long. I do hope they hurry here."
Orange: What did Green say about him? Impatient to get his tail kicked or he's compensating?
Xehta: Compensating.
Orange: Thank you. Though he's going to have pain come to him if he keeps asking for it.
Xehta: *nods* Yeah...ask and you shall receive. Sorta like Mecha. *behind the two, Mecha's paws are being rubbed by Blue*
Orange: Though his is less painful...
Blue: Poor thing... don't forget to take breaks between writings ok?
Mecha: *nods, smiling*
Xehta: *chuckles* But things are really starting to pick up...the climatic final battle is coming up. But...there are still 2 more bases they have to go through to get there.
Orange: Though don't forget that there's probably more rocking surprises coming from here too.
Blue: There you go. *as she lets go*
Mecha: *smiles* Thank you Blue. *licks her cheek*
Xehta: Probably...*eyes Mecha* Something he's done has raised a few questions.
Mecha: *blink blink* What?
Xehta: *shrugs* It's nothing...I don't want to spoil anything. But...now than...looks like this chapter is over...and dear sweet arceus save us all...Mecha didn't get laid.
Mecha: Oh ha ha! You're lucky I'm in a good mood. *chuckles* Bye everyone.Chapter End Notes:It's coming to an end readers. The final chapters are coming. And when Brotherhood ends, Tales of Travelers is complete. So please...share your thoughts on stuff...I'd like it if my series ended with multiple shouts along with the bang I have planned
