Typhlosions have got to be one of my most favorite Pokemon ever! Enjoy...

Chapter 4

I awoke. I didn't bother opening my eyes. I felt that I didn't even deserve to begin the day anew. The fur around my eyes, more or less my entire face, was still crusty and wet from my tears. In my mind, I felt a mixture of guilt and sadness, that just didn't seem to go away. Not that I wanted it to.

One name rose above the guilt, above the shame, and above the sorrow. It yelled across my mind, across my whole being. The name was...

Kristen.

Why? Why did she have to go? Why did she have to leave me? I love her so much, but she just had to leave! Why?

But I already knew the reason, I had known it since I cried myself to sleep last night. I shuddered at the very words.

Last night.

It was because we mated, and I will never forgive myself for it, not ever. Mating is supposed to be an expression of love, and of passion. Of course, I love Kristen very much, with all of my heart. But I never wanted it to be like this. We aren't ready, we just aren't. We both know it. Yet we mated, we satisfied our primal cravings to the fullest extent, like mindless monsters.

And she ran away. Did I blame her? Did I blame her for running away from it all? Her parents? Oh god, her parents. They're going to want an explanation. Sorry, I mated your daughter, got her pregnant, and she ran away. That sounds just freaking wonderful, doesn't it?

I forced myself to stand, lifting my stiff body from the cold, hard, stone floor. Walking towards the entrance for a drink, I crushed one of the blue berries under my paw in disgust. I never want to see another one for the rest of my pitiful life.

Once my head cleared the entrance of the cave, sunlight immediately blinded me. It was like it didn't care, didn't care for what went on. Everything could have died right this second, and still the sun would shine as if nothing happened.

My head hung low to the ground, I sulked towards the closest body of water. I leaned over and took a drink, to find my reflection looking back at me. God I'm such a mess. My fur is ruffled, and my tears look worse then they feel. I can't live without her. It's either her, or... I looked towards the deepest depths of the lake.

No! No, it won't come to that! I forced myself to think of something else. But I just couldn't. My life revolves around her very existence now. I love her.

I didn't bother checking her home, I knew she was smarter then that. She would have ran away, far away. I felt so guilty, letting her do this to herself. I probably won't ever see her again. Just the realization of this was devastating for me to withstand.

I sat down at the entrance to my den. I didn't know what to do. For the first time in my life, I truly felt lonely. I wish my mom and dad would return home, but it's still only been a few days. They won't be home for a while.

I closed my eyes, and laid on my side. I tried to think of a happier time, back in my early days as a Quilava. Those days were the best, not having to worry about any of these things. How I wish I could just reverse time, back to those happier days, when none of this mattered.

The tears came again. They came in waves, relentlessly soaking my fur. They didn't seem to want to stop. Did I care? Did I want them to stop? No, it feels good to cry, to just let it all out. But the thing was, it wasn't helping anybody, not myself, not Kristen, not anybody.

Before I got too out of control, I stopped myself. I can't go on like this anymore. I need to find her. I need to talk to her, I need to be with her. Any other life without her is simply unthinkable.

Wiping the tears from my eyes, I stood up and began looking for a scent, anything that could lead me to her. Tracks, scent, whatever, as long as it took me to her.

I started at the entrance of my home, where only a few wisps of her remained. The wind was particularly strong that day, so there was no point in using the trail the whole way to find her. I just needed to know which direction she headed in. Once my analyses was complete, I determined that she headed east.

East. East is where I would find Kristen, my love. I took one last drink from the lake, and set out to look for her.

* * * * *

Starting out at a steady trot, I broke into a full sprint. I don't think I've ever ran as fast
as I have in my life. I needed to find her, needed to make sure she was alright, and safe from danger. I ran as far as I could, only slowing down finally when my body was screaming at me to rest.

I plucked a berry from a bush, now that they had become more plentiful the further I moved away from home. I hardly tasted it, as I was too focused on my current task.

I ate as many as I needed, and continued walking. I wondered if I would ever find her. What if she changed directions? What if I missed her? So many things could complicate my searching tactics.

Just as I passed a shrub, I froze. I could smell her. I could smell her quite clearly actually. Overjoyed, I peeked inside the bushes, expecting to see her lying inside. However, that was not the case.

She wasn't there at all. Instead, there was a deep imprint in the soft ground. I didn't need to smell the air at all to tell she spent the night here. Her distinctive, feminine scent was strong in the whole area. She couldn't have gotten far.

I noticed the new trail leading away from these bushes was in a completely different direction. If it wasn't for this discovery, I would have kept walking, oblivious to the fact that she changed course.

After taking one last inhale of her lovely fragrance, I continued onward, walking through the increasingly thick vegetation.

Weaving through the thick roots, and walking around the large swamp areas, my path became blocked by a spider's web of green, gnarly vines. Knowing I must continue onward, I checked the conditions of the air, and the position of the roadblock. Once I was satisfied I wouldn't cause too much damage, I prepared.

I took a few deep breaths, sucked in as much air as I could, uttered my call, and let loose a concentrated beam of pure fire from my mouth; a perfect flamethrower! I felt my back ignite, nothing short of explode into an inferno. I love the way the fire seems to wrap around my body, holding me in a warm embrace. I watched as the vines curled up like snakes as they burned, blackening to a crisp, releasing the smell of burning plants in the air.

Just as I was about to halt my attack, I heard a loud scream of pain. I immediately stopped and stood back, unsure of who or what I just burned. The fire stopped spreading when I stopped my attack, a nice little feature. After about 10 seconds of silence, I walked over cautiously to investigate. After all, if I seriously injured someone, they would need help.

I approached slowly, being very careful not to startle whatever hid inside the smoldering remains.

"H-Hello?" I asked nervously, hoping whatever I hit wasn't too pissed off.

Well, it was pissed off. Upon noticing me, it jumped up and out of the debris, missing me by only a few inches. Once the blur of a Pokemon slowed down, it was made clear to me that I was in trouble.

It was a Scyther, and a mad one at that. It sported two huge blades on both of it's arms, and just by looking at that, I could tell it was fully mature. It's bug-like wings were black and shiny, which was actually pretty weird. I thought that they were usually tan... Unless...

With an audible gulp, I realized I better disappear, fast. If my assumptions were correct, they probably weren't black at all. They were just charred and burnt!

No sooner had this thought crossed my mind, when the Scyther sprang into action. It's flying abilities apparently weren't hampered the slightest bit, as it flew towards me at blinding speeds, hovering just a few inches off the ground. It was swinging it's blades quickly in slashing, diagonal patterns, creating a white curtain of blur over itself.

My first instinct, of course, was to duck and hope for the best, seeing as how I had very little time to do anything else. And that's exactly what I did. I ducked for my life.

My head hitting the ground first, the rest of me fell quickly with it. As soon as my whole body had made contact with soft ground, I pressed myself as tightly as I could into the grass and closed my eyes tightly, waiting for the Scyther to cut me in half.

* * * * * * * * * * *

I saw the black Typhlosion lying on the ground shivering. I dived bombed the black dot on the green grass. Yes he got my wings but they were a lot tougher then more thought. The burning sensation filled the ridges. I slammed down next to it and kicked in over on its stomach. I straddled over it and looked down with all the power of a god. I raised my blades and aimed right for his head. Then I noticed something. He wasn't cowering. He was at peace as if he was ready to die by my blades. I looked down at him.

"Who are you?!" I yelled at him.

"A-Alex"

"Where do you ale from?"

"What?"

"Where do you come from?"I asked him again.

"West, I was looking from someone! I didn't mean to harm you! There was a web in my way and so I burned it with my flamethrower. I didn't know you were on the other side or I would have asked you to move I swear!" Alex pleaded with me. I slammed my arms in the ground next to his head. He flinched, but I got off of him. He stayed there. "You're not going to rip me in half?" He asked me. I shook my head.

"It was an honest mistake, I should have heard you but I didn't. It wasn't your fault you didn"t know. You said you were looking for someone. Another Typholsion by chance?" I asked him.

"You saw her?" Alex asked getting back on all fours and coming closer to me.

"Yeah I did she passed by yesterday around night. She asked for directions to the waterfall. I told her the way and she thanked me then left. She looked pretty banged up." I turned and glared at him. "You didn't do anything to her did you?" I asked raising my bladed arm again. He shrunk back and looked at the ground.

"Sort of. I didn't hurt her at least physically just mentally, but I'm just as hurt." Alex told me. I crouched to a more comfortable position.

"What happened?"

"I'd rather not talk about it." Alex said and pawed at the ground. I nodded.

"Come on you look horrible. I know where you can wash up and we can get some berries." I told him and stood up. Alex nodded to me and started to follow me as we walked. I tried to start up a conversation but most of the time it just came back to the female. I learned her name was Katrina.

"So how bad did she really look?" He asked.

"She was tired and there was a fair amount of evidence of crying around her eyes. I'm guessing that."

"Yeah it's my fault." He cut in.

"You look like you have done a fair amount of the same." I told him gesturing with my arm to around my eyes.

"I lost the one I love what do you expect? Me to be jumping around with joy?" Alex barked. I put my arms up in a sign of surrender.

"I know your pain; I lost my mate as well." I told him and kept on walking.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Alex said feeling bad for what he had just done.

"Nothing to worry about. It was bound to happen. She was too care free and happy go lucky. I like my schedule and comfort zone and don't like to go out of it. She on the other hand loved to do things out of the box." I told him as we approached a small pond. He went to the waters edge and began to drink. I looked around. God I hope he doesn't show up today. Alex began to lower his body into the water to clean himself off. There was a loud roar in the distance.

"What was that?" Alex asked his tongue still partly hanging out.

"The so called owner of the pond." I told him and stood up to get in a fighting stance. He got out of the water and looked around a bit nervous.

"What is he?" Alex asked.

"Nidoking." I told him. The tree parted and there out came the massive beast.

"He's huge!" Alex pointed out. Sure enough he was about a foot taller then most and had the extra muscle to go with it.

"Penn!" he yelled. "I told you this is my pond you're not welcome here!" He yelled at us. I sighed.

"Look it's not your pond you weren't given it. Its everyone's and we should all share it. Just go back to where ever you came from." I growled at him.

"You think you're in charge of me! Hahaha! I will squash you like the bug you are." He reared his head back and then a spray of poison needles flew through the air. I put my arms up to block them. They weren't needed as a massive jet of flame burnt them all to a crisp. He roared seeing Alex. He began to stomp the ground causing the earth to shake. I started my wings and hovered a few inches off the ground. Alex rocked but I was safe. I began to chant the song in my head. Sword dance, my blades began to hum as the powerful words filled them with a terrible power. They glowed brighter and brighter till a white light was around them. I changed the angle of my wings and zoomed forward. My arms raised ready to slice into his flesh. He put his arms up, they wouldn't do much. I reached him and hacked down into his arms. The bone armor did protect him a bit but I still felt this muscle and tissue tear from my arms. He growled in pain and swatted me to the side.

Alex looked over and saw me fly through the air only to regain my balance and hover. His fiery mane was still going. He turned back to the Nidoking and took aim.

"Now I do mean it." I heard him and then sucking in his breath let out another massive jet of flame. The giant brute never saw it as it burned his left side. The massive pokemon roared out as he was charred and partly roasted. Alex kept the stream up for a long time before it stopped showing that the entire left arm of the rhino like monster was all black and smoking a bit. He cried out looking at the two of us.

"I will be back to get my revenge." He said and nursed his wounds walking away. I looked at the tree next to me. I sliced it with one hard slash. The tree tilted then crashed catching him on the back making him cry out more.

"No you won't." I whispered to myself more then him. I turned to Alex who was watching him leave. I went over to him. "Good job, now you still look like a herd of Rhydon ran you over, come on take a nice bath I will go get some food." I saw him nod then start to slowly lower himself back into the water to finish what he started. I flew around and found a tree full of berries. I cut a branch with a fair amount and caught in my mouth. I flew back and waited for him to finish up.
