Epilogue
Our lives couldn't have been any happier.
That's what I thought as Kristen and I sat next to each other, looking out over the endless sea of water. We weren't far from where we had decided to build a den of our own, nice and roomy, perfect for two Typhlosions and any youth we might bring into the world. I kissed her deeply yet briefly, a casual kiss we tended to give each other now and then, petting her tummy and smiling happily.
Penn and I became very good friends, never far away from each other. I was entirely in his debt, after he helped me find Kristen after all, so I stayed close, helping him out with whatever I can. Eventually, he settled down himself, finding a mate as well. After being a good friend with Sally for the longest time, he finally asked her to be his mate. She of course agreed, and promised to be loyal to him forever. I snickered at this, truly wondering if she could do it. I think she thought the same thing, looking at me with a needful stare.
As for my parents... They finally returned home a little while after we returned. I remember running up, hugging them tightly, smiling happily as they hugged back. I introduced them to Kristen, grinning as I told them she was my mate, before kissing her on the cheek. They were so happy for me, squeezing me and wishing me well for anything I might do. I thanked them for everything, before saying farewell to them, telling them I would visit them occasionally. They themselves couldn't wait to see their grandchildren, and I blushed a little as they told me that. I simply nuzzled Kristen's neck, licking her gently.
Kristen's home was the next place to visit, as she told them she had found someone to spend the rest of her life with. They were overjoyed, blessing us and wishing us well. Her father even took me aside, telling me how happy he was that I had decided to take her as my mate. He told me to treat her well, before giving me a big hug. I promised I would guard his daughter with my life, and make sure nothing happened to her, ever. And it's true, I would protect her always.
"So... What do you think we should name it?" She asked me, guiding my paw around the noticeable bulge in her tummy.
I simply grinned, kissing her again as I thought. "Well, there's no real telling what gender it'll be, eh?" I said, licking her cheek lovingly.
"Well, I have a feeling it'll be a girl..." She said, looking into my eyes and blushing. My face turned red as well, still trying to get my head around the fact that we would have a little Cyndaquill to look after shortly, as the bulge seemed to grow larger with every passing week.
"Well... if you're sure, I think something along the lines of... Oh... How about Amanda?" I said, nuzzling my mate.
"Alex... I think that's a wonderful name..." She said, smiling and rubbing her tummy. She kissed me, hugging me close to her as she closed her eyes, breathing softly. A single tear of joy leaked from my eye, as I kissed her forehead, a sense of accomplishment present in that moment. I closed my eyes as well, holding her body close to mine.
"I love you so much Alex..." She whispered, drifting off to sleep.
"I love you too Kristen..." I whispered back, nuzzling her and falling asleep too, with my beloved mate.
