Story Notes:
This is my first ever story posted on here, and although it took me forever to type this I think it'll all be worth it. Just like the Pokemon television series, my mind is full of ideas and I will not stop writing my story(stories) until my mind is nothing but an empty space. Anyways, have fun reading my story as much as I did writing it.
Chapter 9
A Rare Sight
There’s Always a Good and Bad Side
“Beautiful isn’t it?” I said, while rubbing Ruby’s back.
“Larrrrrr,” Ruby said in awe.
“It’s always like I’m seeing this for the first time,” Chole responded.
We all sat at the edge of the cruise line and watched the sun begin to descend. There’s something about watching the day turn to night that makes you forget every negative thing going on in your life, I don’t know why, it just does.
I turned my head to see Buddy yawning and Linoone already falling asleep. That was our cue to head back to the cabin.
Still sitting on my shoulders, Ruby grabbed some of my hair and tossed it around like some reins for a horse. For someone who fights like a pro and break rocks like butter, Ruby sure has the heart of a child. It’s not surprising though, she lost her parents when she was still young; poor thing.
Finally getting to our cabin, no one bothered to get ready for bed; they all just took a bed and fell asleep.
I began to chuckle as I watched Linoone fall asleep. Usually he would ask for some food before falling asleep; now with his skinny form, he would stay quiet and just fall asleep. Zigzagoon would also snore as an added bonus, but now as a Linoone, he would just curl up and peacefully close his eyes. It was like seeing a teenager turning into a matured adult in a matter of seconds.
I went into the bathroom to take a shower and brush my teeth. Once I opened the door, I saw Ruby standing on the other side, just waiting.
I picked her up and took her to her bed, “time for bed Ruby, I’ll see you in the morning.”
I turned off the lights and closed my eyes. After twenty minutes, I woke up from the sound of a rattling bed. Telling from where the sound was coming from, it was Ruby’s bed. I pretended to be asleep when she began to climb my bed. Ruby curled up in front of me and fell asleep.
“Alright, fine,” I thought to myself.
Soon enough, I was asleep.
The next day
It was a beautiful morning; no clouds in sight, the sun was warming any surface that it could reach, the ocean was still and calm, and you could hear the sound of throw up coming from the bathroom, wait…
I was knocking on the bathroom door, “Ruby, are you alright?”
Chole slapped the back of my head, “of course she isn’t you idiot, can’t you see she’s seasick, poor thing.”
I grabbed some Pokemon medicine and quietly entered the bathroom.
“Hey there Ruby, are you feeling better.”
“Larrrr,” Ruby said in a groggy tone.
I poured the medicine onto a spoon, “here take this, it’ll make you feel better.”
Ruby shook her head, not wanting to take the medicine.
“Come on Ruby you’re a big girl, you can break a rock into a thousand pieces but admit defeat to a spoonful of medicine?”
Ruby nodded.
“Please take this medicine Ruby, I don’t want to see you sick throughout this whole boat ride. If you’ll take the medicine I’ll give you a treat after lunch.”
Ruby agreed and slowly opened her mouth; I quickly poured the medicine onto her tongue before she changed her mind. Ruby then swallowed the medicine and stuck out her tongue in disgust.
“See it wasn’t that bad, was it?”
Ruby nodded furiously.
“Aww don’t be such a baby,” I hugged her, placed her on my shoulder, and then exited the bathroom.
“Come on you two, we got everything packed up, lets get some damn breakfast,” Chole said as she changed into a Charmander.
We all walked down the hall and stopped to wait for the elevator. After some time, the doors began to open; inside the elevator was a white hooded woman who began to walk out as we went in. As I was entering the elevator I accidentally bumped the woman with my shoulder. I was about to apologize when I noticed a P on the back of the white sweatshirt.
The doors began to close, “o-o I’m sorry about that Ms,” I said.
“It’s alright…Garrett,” the woman said just before the doors closed.
“Vee….”
“Yeah I know. Garrett, did you hear what she said?” Chole asked me with a shocked expression.
“Did I know her? I don’t remember ever meeting a woman with a white hoodie.”
Since then, we all were quiet during breakfast. It seemed that all six of us were trying to process the information that was given to us an hour ago.
After breakfast we all went back to the room to relax and do nothing before the long trip to the next gym. We all were watching television when out of nowhere, Chole struck gold.
“….Wait a minute, wait a damn minute, I think I know why she knew your name,” Chole floated out of her bed to mine.
“You do?”
“Remember Jake?”
“Of course, that guy creeps the hell out of me so much it’s hard to forget that name.”
“Well when we first met him, he had a black hoodie with an A on the back.”
“…Now that you think about it, yeah he did.”
“Do you think that Jake and that woman somehow knew each other?”
“Possibly, it probably couldn’t be 100% accurate but that could be the only idea of how she knows my name.”
“Come on lets try to look for her and try to get some answers,” I got up and opened the door.
“Garrett, this boat is too big we would be docked before even getting a glance at her,” Chole replied.
“Then we’ll split up in two’s. Chole and I will search the outside area of the boat, Buddy and Linoone will search the dining room as well as the shops, and finally, Ruby and Treeco will search the hallways and theatre.”
Everyone agreed and knew what their orders were.
“Everyone, remember to keep a good eye open, we all will meet back here in exactly one hour and thirty minutes,” I said.
After orders were given out, we all went our separate ways to find this mysterious hooded woman.
One hour and fifteen minutes later
“Jesus, you’d think that a woman wearing a white sweatshirt with a giant P on the back would be easy to spot,” Chole said as she was walking next to me as a Growlithe.
“No kidding. Damn, it’s almost time, come on we need to start heading back.”
“*sigh* fine, lets….wait, look over there,” Chole points to someone.
“Oh my god, there she is, come on let’s follow her and see where she goes.
The chase was on, we would always keep at least 20 feet of distance from our target and when things started to look suspicious, we would hide behind a wall or some giant pole. I was beginning to get into the tailing and hiding so much I began to hear spy music in my head.
“Would you be quiet!” I whispered in a loud tone.
“Sorry, I thought it would fit the mood.”
We began to cut corners like it was some maze until the hooded woman stopped at a door. She looked around and then went inside. That was our cue to jump her; we quickly ran up to the door and flung it open to find an empty janitor’s closet.
“What the…”
“She gone,” I said in a confused tone.
“Wait a sec,” Chole said and closed her eyes.
“Got something in mind?”
“Shhh.”
All of a sudden, she opened her eyes and a deep red replaced what was originally white with sea blue pupils. Chole started to whisper in my ear.
“Come out, we know your cloaked,” I yelled out to nothing.
In an instant, a figure began to take shape in front of us.
“Very impressive, your powers grew significantly Chole,” the woman spoke in a soft tone.
“H-how do you know her name?”
“Not important now, come on Chole you can speak to me, I already know you can talk.”
“Yeah yeah, I know.”
“Wait a minute, you two know each other!?”
“Kinda, sorta; I met her before you found me.”
“It doesn’t matter, Garrett I’m actually glad that you followed me here; come inside, we must discuss something important.”
“….It’s a janitor’s closet.”
“Just step inside you dimwit,” Chole pushed my legs.
The woman then closed the door and begun to press buttons on her wristwatch. The environment swirled until it took the shape of a small version HQ. Everywhere I looked there were computers and gadgets that seemed like something you would find an alien carrying.
“Welcome to the PB, Pocket Base for short; a computer chip look alike that fits in your pocket and can turn any room into your personal HQ in a split second.”
“The hell…”
The woman then took off the hood that covered her face, she had dark red hair going down to the middle of her back, her eyes were earthy brown and to top it off, the body of a supermodel.
“GARRETT WAKE UP YOU BASTERD!!” Chole slammed her fist into my stomach.
“OH GOD!!”
“You fainted you fucking pervert!!”
“Hmm, it seems that I have.”
“YOU THINK?”
“Sorry about that,” I said while rubbing the punch mark.
The lady coughed onto her hand, “Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Jade, I work for a top secret organization called Purification.”
“Is that supposed to stand for something?” I asked.
“No it doesn’t, our leader just thought that the name was best suited for the organization’s reason for creation.”
“And that reason would be what?”
“Tell me Garrett, have you ever met anyone wearing a black hoodie with an A on the back?”
“Honestly, it’s kind of hard to forget that image.”
“Then you know our reason, the A that you saw on the man’s back stands for Apocalypse, I hope you don’t need an explanation as to what that means.”
“So Jake is part of a group called Apocalypse?” I turned to Chole.
“Oh, so you met him already? Well that takes care of that question.”
“It does?”
“Yes, if you haven’t known already, Jake is the leader of Apocalypse.”
“WHAT!?”
“Jake is the leader of the greatest terrorist group ever organized.”
“Well then, why haven’t I seen any news about them until maybe a few days ago?”
“Apocalypse is what you can call “low profile,” what they do is commit crimes whether it’s petty or something that needs hard investigation, and then after blame it on ordinary thugs, every once and a while they sometimes will purposely get caught by the news in order for the listeners to become more alert and be on their toes constantly.”
“But, how are they the biggest terrorist groups if they just commit random crimes, everyone does those sorts of things?”
“Yes but most of the time, ordinary crimes leads to violence, not one person has fallen or been hurt to Apocalypse. They just steal items.”
“O…k but that still doesn’t answer my question.”
“All of the items they steal are linked to something not only important but dangerous as well, once this “something” is completed, it will mean the end of all mankind.”
“WHAT?!”
“Yes, Apocalypse intends to kill every man and woman along with every Pokemon in a single blow, shielding themselves and handful of Pokemon so that they may rebuild the world as they see fit under their rule with no one to resist.”
“That’s horrible!” water began to form at my eyes.
“Yes it is, that is the reason why Purification was created, they are an elite team of Pokemon masters and scientists working together to bring down Apocalypse, we are the people that the world depends on without even knowing.”
“I can’t believe it.”
“Believe it, it’s sad but true.”
“Well thanks for ruining my day, but I must ask you, how do you know me?”
“In due time Garrett, but if I’m correct, you have a gym battle you should be readying for, am I right?”
“Y-yeah.”
Jade then put her hood back on her head, “well then, I think you should be getting ready instead of asking so many questions hmm?”
“Yeah.”
Chole and I both walked out of the room, “we will meet again Garrett trust me, and if you are in any danger, we’ll come; Garrett, we’ll be watching you.”
“Thanks…I guess.”
Jade chuckled, “you have his eyes,” and then shut the door.
I was speechless from the information I was just given until out of nowhere I felt a hand grab mine.
“Come on Garrett, we have to meet with the others, they’re probably worried sick,” Chole pulled at my hand.
“Yeah, let’s go.”
