Chapter One: The Return

Chapter One: The Return

by Havoc

In a solitary sleeping bag in the middle of an expansive forest in a secluded corner of Sinnoh, a young man awoke to the early morning light shining through the treetops. The slight chill in the air nipped at his face, making him blink his green eyes and tuck his head a little further into the embrace of the warm, downy cocoon he was lying in. Although Chaz had planned to get up early this morning, it did seem an awful shame to have to leave the cozy spot.

Especially considering he was not occupying it alone. His companion, laid out right beside him, stirred and gave a contented squeak. The Lopunny's ears twitched as a cold breeze swirled around them, and she brought her arms up as if to shoo it away. Chaz caught her arms with his hands before she swatted him in her sleep, and her ruby eyes opened. She trilled, her tone questioning.

"Yeah, it's morning," Chaz said, guessing as to what she had asked. "We slept a little later than I wanted us to. Sun's already up." The Lopunny stretched her legs inside the sleeping bag, her toes curling. "We should probably get up soon, Mimi."

Sighing grumpily, his sleep mate rolled atop him, bringing her arms around his body in a close hug. Her soft belly fur glided across his bare skin, and her breasts pressed against his chest. She gave him a tender good morning kiss. The touch of her lips called to mind their activities of the previous night. Chaz put one hand on the back of her head, ruffling the downy, nut-brown fur there, and skimmed the other down her back. His hand lighted on her bottom, and he squeezed the cushiony flesh there playfully.

Mimi's head came up, her eyes wide. An amused expression on the pokémon's face, she waggled a paw in front of his face as if to say "you naughty boy." And she had a point. What he was doing was forbidden by most societies. For a human to be found lying with a pokémon would mean instant scandal. But the couple was a little too smart for that. Even with them sharing a bed most nights, almost nobody had found out about them. Except for that one lady who had allowed Chaz to stay in her house one night and then accidentally walked in on them. And even she had merely put a finger to her lips, winked, and never said another word. Apart from her, a few trainers had walked up on them cuddling, but that was easily explained away as the actions of a devoted pet.

And devoted she was to him, as he was to her. They'd been together for five years now, although their relationship had not stretched into the romantic until about six months ago. What a couple of days that had been. Hard to believe that the sequence of events that had played out could have led to this. But so it had, and so together they were, human and pokémon. They loved each other.

Much as Chaz would have enjoyed staying as they were for a little while longer, they did have to get moving pretty soon, and their little campsite wasn't that far off the path. "Come on, Mimi," he said, slipping out from under her and beginning to pull on his clothes. "Breakfast, and then we'll pack up and head out. We're just a little ways from home, now."

Home was the little town of Pinewood, nestled in the forests between Veilstone City and Sunyshore City. Left off of most maps, the village was home to some thirty people, including Chaz's family. He had been born and raised in the little farming village, and had left home at a young age to pursue his dream of becoming a Pokémon Trainer. His homecomings had been few and far between, but he'd always returned home at least once a year for his birthday, as he was now. In four days, he would be nineteen years old, after seven years on his own as a Pokémon Trainer.

Chaz finished dressing and tucked his dark hair into the ball cap that he habitually wore. He patted Mimi's back through the sleeping bag. "Up you get, sweetheart."

Yawning, Mimi crawled out of the sleeping bag and got to her feet, flicking her long rabbit-like ears at the forest sounds that permeated the air. Unlike her human companion, she needed no clothing; her fur was cover enough for her body. The only exception was the gold choker, inset with a smooth cut ruby, which hung around her neck. The necklace had been a gift from Chaz on the night they had become lovers, and she never took it off.

Breakfast was a traveler's meal: dried fruit and granola for Chaz, and pokémon food for Mimi. Her food was a special formula tailored to her species, a necessity that they both knew all to well due to one unfortunate incident with a carrot. After they had both finished eating, they gathered up their things. There wasn't much to pack. Their sleeping bag, a small camp stove, and some emergency supplies were really all they carried with them, along with some clothes for inclement weather conditions.

While packing, Chaz dug in his bag for something he had been keeping around for nearly a month. He found what he was looking for and pulled it out. He looked at the small object for a moment, contemplating it.

"No," he said to himself. "Not yet. Once we leave home, that's the right time to tell her."

A curious murmur sounded nearby. He looked up. Mimi, finished with her share of the packing, was standing over him. Chaz hurriedly stuffed what he had been holding back into his bag.

"Okay, Mimi, let's get going," he said, standing up and acting as though nothing was amiss. "We're close, but we still have a bit of a walk ahead of us."

------

The sun was high in the sky once Chaz began to hear the sounds of his village, and the air had warmed to a pleasant spring temperature. Excitement at returning home caused his pace to quicken, and Mimi had to widen her steps to keep up with him. The sounds called back memories of his childhood. There was a whirring noise that he knew was one of the machines that was used to harvest berries. A rapid clanking was a hammer on the head of a huge nail that held a fence together. The backfire of an aging tractor engine cracked through the air, bringing a smile to Chaz's face. Probably his grandfather's. That guy would wait for the thing to explode under his rear end before he'd give up his faithful tractor.

Mimi remembered things about Pinewood from her childhood, too. The first time that she had been in the village had been just a few months after she had met Chaz. There were large fields of vegetables and orchards of berry trees. Miltank and Tauros were pastured for milk and beef. One of the fondest of her memories was Chaz's mother. She always had a special treat ready for Mimi when she and Chaz walked in the door. His whole family was very kind to her. Which was part of the reason why she and Chaz were both very concerned with keeping their relationship hidden from them.

Chaz and Mimi had made an agreement before they had started on the journey home. While they were in his parents' house, there would be no sex. Chaz thought they could probably get away with sleeping together, but physical intimacy was strictly out of the question. It wasn't that his family was nosy, but the couple tended to be rather...loud in the midst of things. He didn't trust either him or Mimi to be able to keep it down if they got a bit impassioned. Neither of them was very happy about it, but you had to make sacrifices every now and then.

"Here we are," Chaz said, as they came to a dip in the path. They both looked down at the village of Pinewood. Midday was a time of activity in the community, and people could be seen hard at work in the fields. The spring crops would be ready just about now, so many of the people in the village were helping to harvest before getting the fields ready to plant the fall crop. And, of course, berries were always ready for harvest. Berries were the main source of Pinewood's income. Among the berries that they grew were varieties hard to come by in the wild, and so the demand for their produce was high.

The pair made their way down into the dip (valley not being an entirely appropriate term) that the village sat in. Buildings in Pinewood were limited mostly to small farmhouses, with a few larger homes that belonged to more prominent members of the community, Chaz's family included. Near the fields were several large storehouses, some of which were refrigerated to facilitate longer-term preservation of produce. The fields surrounded a small pond with a stream flowing into it, which provided the village with the water necessary for irrigation. Drinking water was piped in from Sunyshore's municipal water service, and the village's plumbing was likewise handled by the city.

People who were milling about in the streets stopped their activities to greet Chaz. Owing to how small the community was, most everybody knew each other. He took a few minutes to get caught up with goings-on in Pinewood, and reconnected with a few friends he hadn't seen in nearly a year.

Chaz and Mimi's path took them past Town Hall, a small building that didn't really stand out from the others and so wasn't obvious to outsiders. The Mayor of Pinewood came out to say hello. He was a kindly-looking man in his middle ages who had basically inherited the job from his father.

"If it isn't Chaz!" he boomed from the doorway. "When did you get back in town, lad?"

"Just a minute ago," Chaz replied, beaming at the man who had been like a second father to him since he was a little boy. "I was just on my way over to the old house to see the folks, but you know how hard it is to walk down the street without getting stopped by about a million people."

The Mayor laughed. "That it is, boy, that it is," he agreed. "By the way, I've had a look at those pictures you've been sending home to your mother and father. Seems as though you've been all over the place in the last year or so." He noticed Mimi standing next to Chaz. "Oh, now who's this?"

"You don't recognize her?" Chaz said. "Take a closer look, now."

The Mayor studied the Lopunny for a second. "That's not Mimi, is it? My, she's grown since the last time you were home." Mimi smiled. "Last time I saw you, little lady, I could have held you in both hands. Though I'd wager I'd have a more difficult time of it if I tried it right now, eh?" He laughed again. "Well, I've kept you two long enough. You'd best be getting home to let your parents know you've arrived. I suppose I'll see you at the little shindig your parents are cooking up for you." With that, the Mayor retreated back into Town Hall.

Chaz and Mimi continued on their way through Pinewood, eventually coming to a medium-sized house, painted green with a brown shingle roof. This was Chaz's childhood home, and he had a lot of memories in the place. It was a two-story house, with a small garage attached that usually held the family's old pickup truck, although today the vehicle was not in the garage, probably out at the fields receiving produce for transport to the storehouses. Chaz and Mimi went up to the door, and Chaz turned the handle, opening it and stepping into the foyer.

"Hey, guess who's ho-uwaggggggh!" Chaz yelled as a yellow blur bounded up to him, putting its front legs on his shoulders and lapping at his face with a floppy, sloppy tongue. Spitting and chuckling, Chaz pushed, trying to calm it down. "Okay, Todd, it's good to see you too."

"Todd, give the boy a chance to get his feet in the door."

At those words, Todd, the Ninetales that had nearly knocked Chaz off his feet, obediently got down on all fours. Chaz gave the beloved family pet a little scratch behind the ears before stepping around him to greet the woman who had "rescued" him.

"Thanks for the save, Mom," Chaz said. "I forgot how, uh, jubilant Todd can be."

Mena, Chaz's mother, smiled broadly at seeing her son home again. She was a pretty woman, with long blonde hair tied in a pony tail and deep blue eyes. Although the lines beginning to show on her face betrayed her age of forty-two years, she had a youthful personality that age could not overcome. "Come over here and give your mother a hug, dear," she said. She embraced her son, squeezing tight. "It's so good to have you home again. Twelve months is far too long for you to be away."

"I'll try to make it home more often this year," Chaz promised.

"You say that every year, and every year I'm disappointed," Mena scolded him. "Are you trying to break your poor mother's heart?"

Chaz looked sheepish. "Sorry, stuff always seems to come up." He pried himself from his mother's arms. "Look, someone else is here to see you, too."

Mena turned her eyes to Mimi. "Oh, Mimi, dear, is that you?" she cooed, stepping up to the Lopunny. "I know Chaz wrote to us that you had evolved, but I still can't believe that you're really our little girl!" She tickled Mimi under the chin, and Mimi squealed. "I have a little something for you when you've had a chance to settle down." Mimi's eyes went wide with eagerness, and she pushed past Chaz and Mena to find a place to set down the things she was carrying.

Laughing at the pokémon's antics, Chaz and Mena followed her inside. While his mother was busy in the kitchen with Mimi, Chaz took his bags up to his old bedroom on the second floor of the house.

Chaz's old room was just about the same as he had left it. An oversized poster advertising the Sinnoh Pokémon League was tacked up on the ceiling. An old wooden desk sat underneath a window, upon which stood a computer that was slightly dusty from underuse since he had left home. A bookshelf was on the wall right near the door, crammed full of books of varying subjects. The closet, full of his old clothes, was open and he could see that his mother had washed some of his favorite shirts that still fit in preparation for his homecoming. The bed looked freshly made as well, fitted with a clean set of green sheets. He was grateful to see that his dad had still not yet turned the room into a workshop, as he had talked about doing when Chaz had first left home all those years ago.

Returning downstairs, Chaz went to the kitchen to find his mother presiding over Mimi, who was sitting on a chair at the kitchen table and happily munching away on some freshly sliced Starf berries. The berry was quite rare and could only be found, in the wild, in Hoenn. Pinewood, however, maintained a robust supply of domesticated crops of many such berries. The berries had an extremely hard skin, but once through the tough outer covering one could feast upon the tender and delicious flesh within. Starf berries had a heavy mix of sweet, spicy, and sour with a touch of bitter dryness to them. Most any pokémon that had an opportunity to sample this delicacy would like it, and Mimi was certainly enjoying herself. Chaz only hoped that the fruit would not upset her admittedly temperamental stomach, although it wasn't that much of a concern; berries were the natural diet of pokémon, after all.

Mena looked pleased that Mimi liked the fruit. "No question she's the real Mimi, now," she joked. "I'd recognize that appetite anytime!" She patted Mimi on the head, and the Lopunny gave a thankful squeak in between mouthfuls of berry.

"So, Mom, where are Dad and Rachel?" Chaz asked, sitting across from Mimi. Todd padded over to him and laid his head on his knee, begging for some attention with a shameless display of puppy dog eyes.

"Your father is out in the fields helping your grandfather to bring in the harvest," his mother said. "As for your sister, I haven't seen her all day. She's still in her room, I suppose, sleeping the afternoon away. She didn't arrive until very late last night. I gather she had a hard time catching a ride from Veilstone City."

Chaz scratched the top of Todd's head. "Right, you told me in one of your letters that she started at VTI this past fall."

Rachel, Chaz's sister, was two years his elder at twenty-one. After years of resistance from their father, who had wanted her to take over the family farm from him, she had finally applied and been accepted to Veilstone Technical Institute, an engineering college in Veilstone City. Rachel's ambition was to work for the Silph Corporation in Kanto or possibly the Devon Corporation in Hoenn. She had always had a knack for fixing things around the village, which was why Chaz's father had picked her to have the farm after him. Her desires had taken her in another direction, and now she was looking forward to a career in developing new technologies.

"Yes, and she had a wonderful first semester," Mena said. "Top honors all around. Adam is so proud of her, although he'd never admit it." She looked over Chaz's shoulder. "Oh, speak of the devil. Good afternoon, She-Who-Never-Wakes."

Chaz looked over his shoulder to see his sister, Rachel, walking into the living room from the direction of her first floor bedroom. His big sister shared his green eyes, although her hair was blonde, like their mother's. Her hair, however, was cut short to her shoulders, and unlike her mother's tidy hair was still messy from being slept on. Yet she still managed to retain the simple beauty that blessed Mena, despite her unkempt appearance. Rachel was dressed in jean shorts and a black tank top befitting of the warm day. She walked from the living room into the kitchen and sank heavily into a chair.

"Afternoon, O Gloriously Witty Mother of Mine," Rachel droned sarcastically, grogginess dragging on her voice.

"I'm glad you've decided to join us," Mena said. "I was going to come and wake you in a bit. Chaz and Mimi have just come in."

Rachel finally noticed them sitting at the table. "Well, hello, little bro," she said. "How's the traveling life suiting you?"

"Not too bad," Chaz said. "College is going well, I hear."

His sister waved a hand. "Eh, can't complain." She looked at Mimi, and her expression brightened. "If it isn't my floppy-eared friend! May have changed your appearance, but you can't fool me, Mimi."

Mimi paused her devouring of Starf berries to grace Rachel with a happy smile. Apart from Chaz, she was Mimi's favorite member of the family. Since she was around the house more often than Chaz while they were visiting home, Rachel kept her company while he was working around the village.

Rachel got up from her seat and stood beside Chaz. "Hey, bro, how about you take off for a little bit?" She hooked an elbow around his neck and ruffled the hair on his head hard. "Give me a chance to catch up with the little fluffball."

"That's actually a good idea," Mena said. "Your father mentioned that he could use your help in the field if you got home early enough."

Chaz freed himself from his sister's headlock. "Well, if you think I could be useful out there, I guess I wouldn't mind," he said. "You all squared away here, Mimi?" Mimi nodded. "Alright then. I guess I'll be back whenever Dad's back." Chaz got up from the table and headed out the door.

Rachel watched Mimi continue to scarf down slices of Starf berry. "When you're finished stuffing your face, girly, how about we go to my room? I bet it's been a while since that lug gave you a proper brushdown, hasn't it?" She laughed as Mimi began nodding enthusiastically.

------

Chaz walked down a dirt path from his home towards the fields, keeping a lookout for his father. Eventually, he spotted him in the middle of one of the berry orchards standing next to the beat-up blue pickup truck that had served the family for many years. From the filled and tied off bags scattered around the orchard, Chaz figured that the harvesting was over and his father was merely loading up the produce to take to storage. He ran up, greeting his father with a yell.

"Hey, Dad!" he shouted. "I'm home!"

Adam, his father, turned around with a wry grin on his face at the sound of his son's voice. Chaz's father was about a year younger than his mother, but looked ten years older. Years of working outside had weathered his features and given him an elderly appearance, but the man was as spry as a young boy and his brown eyes always had a sparkle of energy about them.

"It's good to see you, boy," Adam said, gripping his son's outstretched hand. "I was wondering when you'd find your way down here."

"I only just got home about an hour or so ago," Chaz said. "I was just sitting around when Mom said I should come down and give you a hand."

Adam hefted a bag of Leppa berries, one of the more common varieties that were grown in Pinewood. "I'm certainly glad she did. I thought I was going to have to carry all of these sacks myself."

Chaz looked around the field. "Where's Gramps?" he asked. "I thought he'd be helping you as well."

His father tossed the bag into the back of his truck. "He helped with the harvesting bit, but your grandfather's not as young as he'd like to think. After all the berries were gathered, he had to take a break for the day." Adam wiped the sweat off of his forehead. "Sometimes I worry about the guy. He needs to think about retiring one of these days." He turned back to Chaz. "So, it looks to me like pokémon training has kept the meat off of your bones. Think you can pull your weight, son?"

"I can keep up with you all day, old man," Chaz said confidently.

Adam cracked a smile. "That's what I wanted to hear! Let's get this over with so we can haul off the fruit and go home to your mom's famous cooking."

The father and son team began picking up all of the bags that were scattered around the orchard and carrying them to the truck. There were a wide variety of berries being grown in this orchard. Figy, Magost, Watmel, and Custap were some of the rarer varieties, as well as some of the common types such as Leppa, Oran, and Rawst. The task took several hours, but they finally got all of them loaded into the truck. By the time the truck was full, the rear end of the vehicle was sagging with the weight of the produce. Chaz and his father both climbed into the cab and started off to one of the refrigerated buildings so that the fruit could be stored before being trucked out for distribution to markets and trainer supply companies.

Adam hung an arm out of the window as they drove along. "So I suppose you saw your sister while you were at the house," he said casually.

"Yeah, she managed to wake up," Chaz said. "Mom tells me she's doing great at college."

"Hm," his father grunted. "She ought to be at home preparing to take over the family farm from me."

Chaz took his hat off and brushed a hand through his hair before replacing it. "Dad, why are you on Rachel so hard to stay home? You never had a problem with me going off to train pokémon."

"That's different," Adam said. He steered the truck towards the closest available storehouse. "You're the youngest. I never expected you to take over the farm. Rachel's the firstborn. She has certain responsibilities."

"Isn't it more important for her to do what's going to make her happy?"

"Chaz, this village was a two-bit operation when your grandfather took over the farm from his father. Now it's one of the most important berry suppliers in the whole region. What's going to happen to what your grandfather and I worked so hard to build up if she doesn't take over when we're gone?"

Chaz stopped arguing. He'd tried to explain things to his father before, but the man just had it in his head that Rachel was going to follow in his footsteps. Even if all of the evidence proved otherwise, he wouldn't accept it until it finally happened.

------

Mimi squeezed her eyes shut in slight discomfort. She felt a slight pinching sensation, which was slowly intensifying as Rachel continued what she was doing.

"Hold on, Mimi," Rachel said, her voice soothing. "I know it hurts at first, but once we're through this it'll feel wonderful."

Mimi nodded fractionally. She stifled a yelp of pain as the uncomfortable feeling reached the breaking point. There was a brief tearing sound, and then the pain bled away in an instant to complete satisfaction.

"There you go," Rachel said. She plucked a little clump of fur from the brush and went back to work on Mimi's long, fluffy ears. "Chaz is falling down on the job. Your fur is really tangled back here." She and Mimi were sitting on the floor next to the bed in Rachel's bedroom. Todd was napping in a Ninetales-sized pet bed in the corner of the room. The family pet usually slept in Rachel's bedroom. With a fine hair brush, Rachel was going over every inch of the Lopunny's thick coat, starting at the top and working down. As the brush moved through the brown and cream expanse, loose hairs came out and left behind only healthy, gleaming fur.

It's been a while since I've had a good grooming, Mimi thought. Chaz and I can never seem to find the time for it, so it's gotten really messy.

"Here, lean forward on the bed so I can do your back," Rachel instructed her. Mimi did as she was told, putting her arms up and resting her chin on the mattress. Chaz's sister began brushing down her shoulders, smoothing out the fur. When she got to Mimi's neck, she paused for a moment. "What's this?" Mimi felt her fingers rub over her necklace. "I'll need to take this off to brush back here." Rachel fumbled for the clasp.

No, stop! Mimi batted her hand away, cementing a paw firmly over the choker's fastener.

"Hey, what's the big idea?" Rachel asked. "I was just trying to..."

Mimi shook her head firmly.

"Okay, okay." Rachel left it alone. "Can I see it, though?"

Mimi turned around, taking her paw off the necklace and tilting her chin up so that Rachel could look at it. Rachel traced a finger over the jewel, her eyes a little wider than normal.

"Wow, did Chaz buy that for you?"

The pokémon nodded.

"Gee whiz." The young woman's voice had a tone of awe to it. "He must have spent a fortune on that. He's really spoiling you, isn't he?"

Mimi allowed a tiny smile. She turned back to the bed, and Rachel went back to her brushing, skipping the neck and moving on to Mimi's back.

"How does that feel?" Rachel asked, moving the brush in long, firm strokes. Mimi answered with a deep trilling sigh. "That's good." They were both silent for several minutes. "You know, I bet you've got all kinds of stories about Chaz that you're just dying to tell me. If only you could talk..."

I'm kind of glad I can't, Mimi said to herself.

"I bet Chaz has had a lot of girlfriends while you two have been on the road," Rachel continued. "Cute guy, my little bro."

He sure is, Mimi thought, a goofy grin coming to her face.

"Then again, if he's blowing money on gold necklaces for his pokémon, he probably doesn't have enough cash to treat a girl right." Rachel began picking her brush through Mimi's tail.

He does okay by me.

"Well, I guess it goes to show that Chaz knows what he wants to do with his life. No distractions, just concentrating on his pokémon."

If only you knew the truth...

------

Later that evening, after a huge welcome home dinner for both Chaz and Rachel, everyone was pretty much ready to call it a night and head for bed. The question of where Mimi was going to sleep came up. On previous visits home, she had been just a little thing that could have slept pretty much anywhere, but now she was basically another person. Chaz and Mimi both knew what arrangement they would prefer, but obviously they couldn't come out and say it. Fortunately, Rachel came up with a solution that solved that problem for them.

"If you think there's enough room on your floor, Chaz," she suggested, "I have one of Todd's spare beds in my closet. It's clean, and I think it would fit Mimi just fine."

This idea was agreed by all to be a great one, and half an hour later Chaz was in his bed, and Mimi was curled up in the circular "doggy bed" on the floor in front of his closet. Mena lingered for a few moments in his room, straightening a few things fussily. Finally, she seemed to decide that the room was truly ready for her son to sleep in, and she went to the door. She had to have the last word, however, and poked her head in one last time.

"You're sure you have everything you need?" she asked Chaz. "Couldn't use an extra blanket?"

"I'm fine, Mom," Chaz insisted. "Really, everything's just the way I need it in here."

"Well, alright." Mena clicked off the light, sending the room into darkness, but for the soft moonlight streaming through the window. "Good night, dear." She shut the door, and Chaz heard her walk down the hall to the bedroom that she shared with his father. He waited a few minutes until he saw the light shining beneath the crack under his door shut off. Quiet descended upon the house.

"Finally," Chaz said. "I thought she'd never leave." Mimi rose from the pet cushion on the floor, and in a single bound she was slipping under the covers with Chaz. For the first time since the morning, they were able to be alone with each other. Almost instantly they were kissing, the loving gesture intensified by the fact that they had not been able to do so all day. Mimi's paws cradled his face as her tongue probed at his mouth, and Chaz allowed his hands to roam all over her back, stroking her silky fur.

I really can't live without this man, Mimi thought.

Before long, Chaz felt like they were getting a little carried away. His parents' room was only a few doors down, after all, and Rachel's room was right below. All he needed was for somebody to hear a moan in an unguarded moment, or a loud bump in the midst of an instant of passion, and then he would have an awful lot of explaining to do.

"That's probably enough for one night, sweetheart," Chaz said reluctantly. "We can't let ourselves get found out."

And all because some people are too stupid to see that love is love, Mimi lamented. But she relented, and contented herself with snuggling up to him, her head resting on his shoulder and an arm draped over his chest. Soon they fell asleep, leaving the world behind for a dreamland where all of their worries were a distant memory.

------

In the morning, Chaz came downstairs in pajamas with Mimi to find that his family was getting ready to leave. His mother, father, and sister were all dressed in casual attire, and the ladies had their purses with them.

"What's all this?" Chaz asked. "Going somewhere?"

Rachel put a finger to her lips. "Now, now, Birthday Boy. Why are you prying?"

"We're going out for the day," Adam said. "Your mother needs to get a few things for your birthday celebration tomorrow, so we're driving to the market in Sunyshore."

Mena swooped in and kissed her son on the cheek. "We won't be back until evening, but there's plenty of food in the fridge, so you won't go hungry. Keep an eye on the house for us, alright?"

"Okay," Chaz said.

"Yeah, try not to burn the place down!" Rachel teased, slapping him on the back of the head. Snickering, she followed her parents out of the house. Chaz heard the doors of the pickup truck slamming, and the rickety old engine coughing to a start, and then he listened to the sound of tires on dirt as the truck moved off down the road towards the edge of the village.

Chaz went to the kitchen. Todd was there, noisily eating a bowl of food that had probably been set there for him by Rachel. While Mimi waited at the table, Chaz fixed her a dish of her food with some Cheri berries mixed in. He got a bowl of cereal and some juice for himself and sat with her to eat breakfast. When everyone was done eating, Chaz let Todd outside and then stepped into the living room with Mimi. In the living room were a large couch and a smaller couch, set up so that they formed an L with a corner table at the connecting point. Folded over the back of the larger couch was a heavy knitted blanket. Chaz and Mimi sat next to each other on the smaller couch.

"Well, looks like we've got a day on our own," Chaz said. Mimi leaned against him with her head on his shoulder. "We could take Todd for a walk around the village once he gets back inside. Or we could go see what's going on in the fields. Or maybe we could..." He stopped as Mimi skimmed a paw over his leg. She looked into his eyes pointedly, and he got the distinct impression that she was silently questioning his intelligence. "I suppose you already have an activity in mind." Mimi purred and put her paw underneath his shirt, rubbing his chest. "I thought so. But remember the agreement we made before we came here?"

Instead of stopping, Mimi grew bolder. She moved her paw down over his crotch through his pajama bottoms, making him stiffen in more ways than one. The Lopunny pulled her human lover's head in with the other paw and kissed him deeply.

Chaz had to talk between smooches. "We really shouldn't..." Kiss. "Then again, it's not like anybody's..." Kiss. "I guess there's really no reason to..." Kiss. "Fuck it. You've convinced me. Hang on a minute." He got up from the couch and went around to all the windows, making sure that the blinds were closed and the curtains were drawn. When he was certain that nobody could look in and see something they shouldn't, he returned to the couch. "Now, where were we?"

Mimi grinned and climbed on his lap. She put a leg on either side of him, straddling him where he sat. They settled in to a loose embrace, locking their lips and letting their hands roam over each other. Chaz slid his hands down his little bunny's sides. He cupped her bottom and kneaded her flesh, causing her to tremble and give little moans of delight. The pokémon pushed her rear end out, practically begging him to pay more attention to it. He readily agreed, and rubbed his hands all over her tail area.

In return, she put a paw down the front of his pajamas. Inside, she conducted a brief search before finding what she was looking for. Trilling softly, she wrapped a furry paw around his half-limp penis and gently tugged on him. Chaz rewarded her efforts with a low groan. They rested their chins on each other shoulders as they touched one another. While she massaged his ever-hardening member, he moved a hand to her belly. Briefly rubbing the soft brown fur there, he let his touch fall between her legs. Mimi gasped as he put his fingers to her sex, where moisture was beginning to collect.

Chaz smiled into her shoulder. He searched for her slit, and his fingertips soon contacted the slick, wet flesh that marked his goal. As he parted her lips and began probing her vagina, he felt little tremors of enjoyment go through Mimi's body. Before he could go any further, though, Mimi caught his hands in hers and brought them up in front of their chests. She kissed him hard, putting her tongue inside of his mouth. Chaz kissed back, losing himself in the warmth. He grasped both of her furry breasts in his hands, swirling his thumbs over her nipples.

As they broke for air, Mimi giggled softly. She slipped off of Chaz's lap, kneeling in front of him on the floor. He looked down at her with an airy grin on his face. The Lopunny put her paws on the elastic waistband of his pajamas and tugged, pulling them from his hips and down until they were around his ankles. He wore no underwear underneath, and his erection stood prominent before her, jumping slightly in time with his heartbeat. She pulled the pajamas completely off and set them on the cushion beside him.

"Am I to assume this is an early birthday present?" Chaz asked.

Mimi fluttered her eyelashes adorably, and nodded. She pushed his legs apart so that she could get in closer to the couch, and leaned her head in towards his penis. Chaz shivered as her warm breath drifted against his sensitive organ. Mimi's tongue came out and flicked at the tip of his cock ever so slightly. He closed his eyes and his head went back, his arms resting on the back of the couch. Mimi put her paws on his hips, refusing to touch his penis with anything except her mouth. She licked up and down his shaft, coating him with her saliva before she finally eased her lips over the head.

After a lot of practice, Mimi had learned all of the tricks that would drive Chaz crazy. Instead of going all the way down on his penis right away, she kept her lips around the very top, sucking and licking his glans like it was a piece of candy. She made sure to run her tongue over the sensitive bumps along the underside, making him moan loudly with pleasure. She also put the tip of her tongue to the tiny slit in the top of his penis, pushing ever so slightly as though trying to slip inside. Precum began to flow out, kissing her tongue with a hint of saltiness. When she could sense that he was losing interest, she slowly moved her mouth lower, engulfing his cock until he was lodged in the back of her throat and she had her nose pressed to his skin. Mimi held him there for just a moment, long enough for the pace of his heart to speed up again, before she came back up. Her tongue dragged against the underside of his cock and made him jerk slightly in her jaws.

Mimi hazarded a glance up as her lips crested his member. His head was still back, and his eyes were at the ceiling, but she could see that his lips were pressed firmly together, and the muscles in his neck were tight as he fought to hold himself back.

Oh, my sweet Chaz, she whispered inside of her own head. She took him deep inside of her mouth once more, and then began to bob her head up and down on his penis. When her head went up, she would suck in, letting her lips pull at his flesh and create resistance. On the way down, her tongue would thrash wildly along his length. As she worked, she felt a little pressure on the back of her head. Chaz had brought one hand down to her head, and he softly rubbed at the downy fur around the base of her ears.

A slight change in the way that Chaz's cock pulsed in her mouth warned her of what was about to happen seconds before he opened his mouth to warn her verbally. "Mimi, I'm going to..." She shut his voice out, focusing on his shaft between her lips. She concentrated her tongue on the bottom of the head, assaulting it with a series of rapid licks. Chaz's hand bunched at the fur on the back of her head, grasping a handful while his other hand pounded the back of the couch. His cock jerked, and a stream of his hot cum hit the back of her throat. She fought back a cough, and swallowed greedily, slurping as more of his semen flowed into her mouth. The deluge continued for what seemed like forever, until finally Chaz relaxed, his penis drained and beginning to soften.

Mimi opened her mouth, releasing his member from its confines and taking a deep breath of refreshing air. They both took a moment to breathe, their hearts racing and their lungs burning. She looked up at him, and he looked down at her, their eyes connecting in an affectionate stare.

Happy Birthday, my love, Mimi thought, wishing with all her heart that she knew how to say the phrase aloud in words he could understand.

"Mimi, that was..." Chaz gulped as words momentarily failed him. "That was...unbelievable..."

Suddenly, a rattling noise made them both jump. There was a loud click, and then the sound of wood starting to scrape against flooring. Chaz and Mimi both looked in the direction of the front of the house, horror blossoming in their minds as they realized what that sound meant.

The door was opening.
