Chapter 1
"Remind me why I'm doing this again..." Zach said as he looked out onto the ocean from the rail on the side of the ship he was leaning on.
"Um, I belive it's YOUR job to do these things, and your getting paid handsomely too, so don't complain." said his employer, who is a middle aged man with gray hair and a gray beard, leaning on the grey metallic wall behind him.
"I know that, but this is the tenth time you've employed me for another goose chase like this. You don't honestly expect to find anything there do you?" saind Zach as he turned around to face the old man.
"To be truthfull, I really don't know, but since I have enough money from selling my own line of healing potions, I might as well see if there is."
"I understand that, but it's just a storm. What in god's name do you expect to find in the middle of a storm!?"
The old man gave a sigh and put his palm to his forehead. "Look Zach, this isn't just any storm. This storm was discovered when the new satellites came online, and after weaks of studying it, we discovered that storm seemed to be a permanent one. The storm never changes or moves, it's always there. Since our satellites can't see through storms, there could be an uncharted island there for all we know."
"But the damn thing is forty miles across in every direction! Are you really willing to risk this ships safety for something that probably isn't even there?!"
"Zach, I don't care. I'am a millionaire, I can do whatever the hell I want!" the old man said as he threw his hands in the air and stormed off to somewhere other than where he is now.
'*sigh* Crazy old fart.' Zach thought to himself. Zach has already learned to expect this kind of behavior from his employer, considering he was hired by him in the past. He always hired Zach because he was a expert explorer and a biologist, and he paid rather well, but all the jobs he ever hired him for turned out to be just crap. There were jobs he had from this guy where he would go to some remote location, do studies of the wildlife there, and come back with the results. The results were then used to see if they could discover some ingredient he could use for his healing potions, but ALL those jobs turned up short, and he expected this one to be no different.
Zach looked at his watch and it read 9:00 PM. He decided that he should get some sleep, but decided to go talk to the captain first to get his time on when they should arrive at the storm.
When he got to the bridge and opened the door, a rather comical sight caught his eye. The captain was asleep in his chair, leaning back with his head behind his head, and his feet propped up on the steering wheel. (Zach calls it a steering wheel because he doesn't know what else to call it.) While Zach looked at this, an evil thought crossed his mind.
Slowly, Zach sneaked up behind the captain, bent down so his mouth was right by his ear, and yelled, very loudly, "ICEBERG!"
To say this surprised the captain would be an understatement. He jumped up immediately, yelling random orders until he noticed from looking out the window that there was no iceberg. He then turned around seeing Zach in the middle of a fit of laughter. That's when he realized what just happened and yelled, "ZACH! You bastard! What the hell do you think your doing!?"
After he stopped laughing after a few moments, he looked at the angry captain an responded, "I'm sorry, but I couldn't help it! You were so asking for it!"
"What are you trying to do, kill me!?"
"Hey! You shouldn't be asleep anyway!"
"It's my ship! I can do whatever the hell I want!"
'Boy, that sounds familiar.' Zach thought to himself, remembering his employers earlier statement.
The captain seemed to have calmed down after a few seconds and asked, "Alright Zach. Why are you here? Do you need something?"
That brought Zach out of his thoughts as he suddenly remembered why he came here in the first place. "Oh yeah, Captain, when do you think we'll reach the storm?"
The captain then looked at the floor for a second, thinking to himself before he looked back up and responded, "Hmm...probably sometime early next morning. You should be ready when we get there."
"Well thanks for that. That's all I wanted to ask you, so you can get back to your "beauty rest" now. *snicker*"
"Yeah, yeah, screw you." The captain said as Zach left the bridge to go to his cabin.
After a few minutes of walking through the cold ocean air, Zach finally arrived at his cabin. Eager to get out of the cold and into the warmth of his room, he wasted no time in unlocking the door, going in, and locking it again, so no one would disturb him. There he saw his bed and couldn't wait to get in it, but out of habit, he decided to take a shower first. He then went into the bathroom, stripped off all his clothes, and hopped into the shower. He turned on the hot water and immediately relaxed under the water's soothing warmth. It felt so good after being outside in the cold air all day.
After he was finished, he got a towel and wiped the steam off the mirror. What he saw when he looked at it was a twenty year old caucasian man, about 5'11" with short brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. He had decent body, not too muscular but well trimmed due to his job as an explorer/biologist.
After drying himself off, he dressed himself in his night clothes; pajama pants and a T-shirt. He then went towards his bed so he can finally get some rest. He really didn't do anything at all today except make sure his equipment was in working order, but dealing with his employer was tireing enough. So he slipped under the covers, turned out the lamp on his night stand, and drifted off into to sweet unconciousnesss.

*THUD* "OW! What the hell...?" Zach woke up rather painfully when he realized that he somehow rolled on to the floor, but it felt more like he was thrown. Then he heard a loud screeching noise, as if metal was being to asunder. "That does NOT sound good." he said to himself.
He then heard a rather loud knocking at his door, "ZACH! ZACH! OPEN YOUR DOOR!" Zach then realized that must be the captain at his door, and by the sound of his voice, something real bad must be going down.
Zach wasted little time running to his door and swinging it open to see the captain there, "Captain!?" he yelled, "What the hell is going on!?" but he can guess it had something to do with the storm since he realized he was already there and it was like hell outside.
"We have to abandoned ship NOW!" the captain yelled, "The ship hit a large rock that I didn't notice until it was too late! Now the ship is sinking! Put on your gear and let's get the hell off this ship!"
"WHAT!? You've gotta be shitting me!"
"Does it LOOK like I'm joking!? Now shut up and let's go!"
"What about my equipment!?"
The captain just looked at him dumbfounded, "What!? Screw your equipment! These are our lives were talking about here! Now shut up and come on!"
Jack then nodded his head and quickly got dressed. After walking outside through his door, he then realized just how bad it actually was. The storm was really intense, with winds strong enough to knock you down if you weren't holding on to something, and the rain was hitting so hard because of the wind, that it actually hurt your face, and the cold wasn't helping much either.
After following the captain he asked, "Where are the life rafts!?"
The captain looked back at him answering, " There right by the...HOLY SHIT!!" he screamed pointing behind Zach.
Zach turned around and immediately knew why he screamed. There was a HUGE tidal wave coming right for them! "Great! A sinking ship and now a huge friggin wave is gonna hit us! Just fucking super!" Zach yelled.
"Quick! Grab something nailed to the ship and let go like your life depended on it! Because it does!"
Zach saw the wisdom in his words and immediately grabbed on to the railing tightly. All he can do now is hope that he isn't washed off the ship and the ship capsizes. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened. When the wave smashed into the ship, it jolted it so hard the Zach lost his grip on the rail, then he was hit by the wave, pushing him all they way to the other side where he smashed his chest into the other rails, breaking a few ribs. He then fell overboard and went under water and barely skimmed past a few rocks just under the surface. Though he may have missed a head on collision, he still cut up by them pretty badly. As he was floating on the surface, barely concious, he saw the entire ship flip upside down, and seeing the rest of the crew trying to swim for their lives.
As he was watching this, being violently thrown around the sea, he failed to notice the he was heading for a large rock rather quickly, and before he knew what happend, he smacked his head against the rock and was thouroughly knocked out, without even giving him a chance to wonder if he'll survive this ordeal or not.Chapter End Notes:And there you have it.
