Chapter 8 The Chase for Marina
A few days after the Pokemon league signed an alliance with Team Aqua and Team Magma. Ash and his friends were walking down a forest path. In the last few days, Ash's group had been joined by several members of Team Magma and Team Aqua as escorts. Marina and Absol were still surprised that Ash was the Chosen One of legend. Ash had explained to them about what happened in the Orange Islands over a year ago. Marina had been in shock the first few days that she had fallen in love with a legendary hero. She was sure that Ash would fall in love with a Latias or a Suicune, or some other rare and mystical Pokemon. Absol had thought similar things himself, but he knew the truth because of that legend he knew of.
"Does anyone know where the nearest town is?" Ash asked. "Hmm, there seems to be one that is near here." Dawn said as she looked at a map. "How far is it?" Ash asked. Tabitha walked to Dawn and looked at the map. "It seems to be a few hours away." he said. "Great. It looks like a hot day today." he said sarcastically. He then had felt like a bunch of water was dumped on him. Knowing who it was, he turned and saw Marina looking trying to look innocent. "Marina, why'd you do that?" Ash asked. "Do what? I didn't do anything." Marina said. "I know it was you, Marina." Ash said. "Okay, so it was me, but I was just trying to help you cool off." Marina said. Ash sighed and said "Let's just get to the town." With that, they set off again.
After a few hours, Ash and his group made it to the town which was like a small city. They walked into the city and noticed that this one along with others had soldiers on the lookout for Sektor Sieben agents. Ash walked towards an Officer Jenny who was patrolling the town's streets. "You must be Ash. How may I help you?" Officer Jenny asked. "I just want to know there's been any Sektor Sieben agent activity here." Ash asked. "Not as of yet." Officer Jenny replied. Suddenly, a black car came speeding out of nowhere. The window was wide open and a man in a suit reached out and grabbed Marina and pulled her into the car, which sped away. "Marina!" Ash shouted. "We can still catch them. Ash, come with me. The rest of you find soldiers and follow us with them." Officer Jenny said as she, Ash, Absol and Pikachu hoped into her own car.
In the black car, three sektor Seiben agents sat there. One was driving, another was holding a gun and the third one was holding Marina. "What did I ever do to you?" Marina said scared. "You did nothing, but lived. You must die." one said. "But why?" Marina asked, tears forming up in her eyes. "With you dead, we can prevent a great disaster from occurring." another agent said. "What disaster?" Marina asked as she started to cry. "A disaster that involves metal giants from the stars coming to wage war here on earth." the third said. "Metal Giants from the stars?" Marina asked as she thought back to what Absol had said before. Before anyone can say anything, the car was rammed by another. "It's the police." the one driving said. The one holding the gun said "I'll take care of them." Winding down the window, he fired the gun.
Officer Jenny sped after the black car. One of the windows went down and one of the agents fired a gun at them. Several army jeeps come out from a side street and tried to cut the car off. The driver saw them and swerved out of the way. The car drove down another street and into a large parking lot. After several minutes, the army jeeps and police cars entered the parking lot. "Great, we lost them!" Ash said. "Don't worry, they couldn't have gone far." Brock said. "If we split up, we may find them." Dawn said.
The agents had left their car and were hiding away from it. The agent holding Marina had covered her mouth. Marina was shaking in fear as tears flowed from her eyes. She was scared more than ever now. She closed her eyes and was hoping Ash would find her soon.
Soldiers moved through the parking lot, guns in hand and fingers on the trigger. Ash and Absol looked at different parts of the car park. Ash wouldn't give up until they had found Marina. "Marina!" Ash shouted.
Marina heard the shout and happiness returned to her eyes. She tried to shout, but the hand of the agent prevented her. She then bit his hand as hard as she could. "OWWW!" The man let go and Marina shouted out "Ash!!"
Ash heard his name and ran towards the direction it came from. Several soldiers followed. "Let go of the Buizel or we will use deadly force!" a soldier demanded. "She must die. It is the only way to prevent a great disaster." an agent replied. The soldiers raised their guns. "I repeat. Drop her or we will open fire." the soldier said. Ash dashed forward and knocked the surprised agent holding Marina down. Grabbing Marina, Ash ran back behind the soldiers. The agents pulled out guns. But before they could fire them, the soldiers opened fired. The agents fell to the ground dead. Marina was still crying and shaking with fear. "It's okay Marina. I wouldn't let anything happen to you, and I kept my word." Ash said as they moved away from the corpses.
