Ch 3

Destiny. Where is it that we will end up? What will we be doing at the end? And what is the deal with Fate and Destiny arguing with each other all the time. It would seem that Fate is jealous of the fact that Destiny has the final say on what finally happens to us. So Fate messes with us just to spite Destiny. Once we think we know where were going Fate decides to step in and throw us a curve ball, to keep us off track of what our destiny might or could be.

Things seemed to be quieting down since the last time I'd seen Cassandra. But knowing my luck I'd probably run into her again at some point. I was hoping for it. Though for the next several days I was so busy with running around and doing deliveries that I didn't even think about it. That is until I lay down and saw the poster of her hanging over my bed. That was until the next day when I had my day off.

I had planned on going into town and do some shopping at the local Poke-Mart. It all happened when I was a few blocks away from the Mart. As I was about a little ways away from the next corner when I saw her walking around the corner. My eyes went wide as when she was about to disappear around the corner, time seemed to slow down as she slowly disappeared around the corner.

I just stood there, just looking at the corner that Cassandra had just walked around. 'Could fate be trying to bring us together again? But why, did something always happen to come between us?' So running around the corner only to meet, not Cassandra but that of a light post. With a resounding bong I ran into the post face first, where I stayed like that for a moment until I fell backwards and landed on my back. 'This wont stop me!' As I rubbed my face and quickly jumped to my feet and looked around. 'Great, she hasn't disappeared on my yet. And away we go.' With that I quickly started giving chase again onto to see her disappear into a crowd that had started to surround her.

Not wanting to see her get suffocated by the crowd, I started going around the crowd and try and pull people away from her. Only when I tried to pull off this buff guy that was trying to get her to go out with him, he shrugged me off and I lost my footing and then fell down a man hole. Thankfully the hole wasn't that deep, but though I wasn't hurt by fall because I fell into the water down there, it was full from the water and sewage from the local stores.

When I finally gotten out of the hole with garbage literally all over me, I looked around only to see that the mob had moved off as well as Cassandra. After pulling myself out of the hole and removing several different pieces of junk from down there, I started looking around for her. "Fate you won't stop us from meeting each other!" After looking for her for a moment I found her rounding another corner.

"Great where are my body guards when I really need them." Turning to look across the street I saw her shaking her head. "I can't even go into town without being followed by some sort of mob." With that she continued walking on the other side of the street, away from me. 'Maybe this is what I'm supposed to do. I'm supposed to protect her from these mobs.'

So with that I looked both ways and quickly crossed the street. Looking ahead of her, my eyes went wide as I saw another mob just turning to intercept her. So I quickly ran off to try and protect her only to meet that of a new twist of Fate.

"Ruff!" Stopping dead in my tracks I looked down to meet that of a strong looking Mightyena, not to mention hungry. As I stood over the dog type it would continuously lick it's chops and look hungrily at me. 'Does this thing think I'm food or something?' Ever so slowly I tilted my head to sniff my cloths. For some reason my cloths smelled very strongly of chicken and beef. Most likely, one of the shops had dumped a large load of scraps down the sewer the same time I was down there.

"Oh shit!"

"BARK!"

"NOOO!" I yelled as the hungry dog started running after me, while I started running the other way.

That stupid dog didn't stop chasing me until well after eight blocks. By that time the dog was constantly looking around, as if expecting something to jump out and attack it. So while it was distracted I ducked down another ally and waited. After waiting several minutes the dog finally ran off. Hopefully satisfied that it had chased me out of it's territory.

Leaning against the brick building I started to catch my breath then turned and peaked around the corner to see the dog finally disappear around the building. 'Man, I thought that dog would chase me all the way home.' Looking down the ally, 'Now where exactly am I?'.

With that I began to wonder around the alley trying to find my way back to the road, until "Bee".

The sound had been weak so it was hard to exactly pinpoint where it originated from.

"B...b...bee." And there it was again. Though this time it was even fainter, but thankfully closer as I started looking around the ally.

'I don't know what made that sound, but whatever did make it, it sounded weak or possibly hurt.' So with that I started to dig through several piles of trash bags that littered the area. 'Well at least I can't smell any worse than I already do. Now if only that thing could call out once more...'

As if to answer his thought, a set of bags that had been his next dig started to shuffle a little, and the sound of empty tin cans clanked together. 'Well that works.' Abandoning the current pile of trash, I quickly dove for the shaking one and started digging. Starting with the bags towards the outside, I started throwing them away and moved my way to the center. Time seemed to slow as I removed what seemed to be the last bag in the pile, to be shocked at what I saw.

There, lying under the last bag was a dried up leaf looking stuffed doll of Celibi. The thing must have been down here for quite some time in order for it to look like this. As if cupping my hands to take a drink from a stream, I lifted the little think and chuckled. "I must have noticed this thing fall out of an upper story window and fall into this trash heap. It must also be one of those talking ones." The next moment would probably stick with me for the rest of my life.

Ever so slowly as if the thing was waking from a long sleep, the Celibi slowly turned it's head to look at me. Then it fluttered it's eyes slowly to it's quivering mouth as if it was trying to speak and look at something for the first time. Once it's eyes were only open a little ways it gave me the most heart wrenching look of pain and pleading that I had ever seen in my life, and I knew what had to be done.
