Story Notes:
I'm having at least 6 Chapters for this story. Most of it is flashbacks, but you'll like it later on.
Dinnertime Mayhem
When we reached the bottom of the stairs, there was a smell that just whacked us right in the face. It smelled incredible.
"So, what's this Kalren that everyone's talking about?" Brandon asked.
"No clue." I said.
Just then, Derek popped his head from the side and said "Well, if you get to the Kitchen, you'll find out!" He then went into the kitchen for himself.
I followed, and as did Brandon. When we got in there, we saw a sight that was to die for.
Apparently, Kalren was a gigantic boar. It looked completely delicious, and smelled even better. I just had to ask. "What is that?"
"That Kalren." Shiela replied. "It cooked Piloswine. Kalren."
At this, Brandon seemed on the verge of losing his lunch. I honestly didn't feel as if it was such a big deal. It smelled and looked great, and it probably tasted even better.
Brandon, however, seemed on the verge of retching up everything that he had ever eaten. "Why? Why did you kill this thing?" he asked.
"I not kill it." Shiela said. "Dead when I found it."
Brandon inhaled once, and then exhaled. He seemed to look a bit better. "Well, either way, it smells delicious!"
"Thanks!" Derek said. "Shia and I were working on this for 5 hours. Well, not the swine, but the sauce that we used to marinate it."
"Mm-hmm! And it taste better than human food ever made." Shiela said.
"Wow!" was all I could say. I then heard a gigantic thud.
"Oh, what now?" Shiela said. She left the kitchen and shouted back "Dekey, set table, please!"
"Sure, Shia!" Derek responded, and he set the table.
I hopped up to a seat and got myself ready for dinner.
5 minutes later, Shia came back in. "It nothing. Just heavy snowfall. You group must stay here for night. Much safer."
"Alright. Thank you, Shiela." Brandon replied.
"Alright, now let's dig in!" Derek cried out, as he reached for a leg of Kalren. Just as he did, however, his hand was smacked with a wooden spoon. "OW! What was that?" he asked the attacker, Shiela.
"First to reach, you say grace." She said and clasped her hands together and bowed her head.
I followed suit, as did everyone else. It was a bit hard for me, as my paws weren't really made for interlocking. So, I just placed my paws on the table and bowed my head respectively.
Then, Derek spoke. "Dear Arceus, up above-"
"I'm done." Red said, and he hadn't eaten anything at all.
"Red?" I called to him, and followed. But, I was held back by mom.
'He doesn't see our views as right. He follows something called Christianity.'
'What is that?' I asked in my head.
'Well, it's another sort of belief. Like, you believe in Arceus, right?'
'Yes. What Pokemon doesn't?'
"Red doesn't."
The voice startled me, but I turned my head to the direction of the voice and found Brandon talking to me. "What do you mean?"
"Well, Red originally belonged to another trainer, and he had Red go through a conversion, to where he doesn't believe in Arceus at all anymore."
"Well, if he doesn't believe in Arceus, who does he believe in?"
At that moment, another voice entered the throng. "I believe in the Lord, Jesus Christ. He died on a cross, so my sins would be forgiven, if I only ask."
"Well, Father, you don't need to be pushing your religion on everyone else." Brandon said.
"Hmph," was Red's only response as he turned away again.
"Why'd you call him father, Brandon?" I asked.
"Well, it's because he's a Minister for Christianity. Any kind of Minister, for any kind of belief, is to be addressed as Father. In this case, Red is Father Red, of Christianity."
"Oh," was my response. Mom set me back down, and I hopped up on my chair again.
Derek finished saying grace to Arceus, and we got down to eating. After a little while, Red came back in to eat. He just sat down and grabbed a piece of the meat and dug in, not saying a word.
During the time, Shiela stopped eating and asked "Brandon, right?"
"Yeah," he responded.
"You strong. I notice when I try Wood Hammer. You no normal human. How you get so strong?"
All of a sudden, the entire room became suddenly quiet. Then, mom piped up with "You've never even told any of us how you came to be so strong and fast."
Brandon smiled and nodded his head. "I guess I can tell you. The group's been disbanded for a while now, so I guess its fine to tell you all." He got up and removed his shirt from his body to reveal a scar on the upper-right hand side of his chest. "This is a mark of a Pokéja."
"A Pokéja? What's that?" I asked.
"Well, do you know what a ninja is?" he asked in return.
Derek was the one to answer. "A ninja is a person who utilizes their surroundings to perform incredible acts."
"That's somewhat correct. You have the jist of it. However, you've barely begun to scratch the surface." He inhaled. "A ninja does use their surroundings to perform great feats. However, it is not only their surroundings which can make that happen. There is a force within all living things called Chakra. Now, this Chakra can be moved to different parts of the body to do different things. Some can collect it in their chest to be able to breathe underwater. Some do the same thing, and can breathe fire!"
"Okay, but what does that have to do with a Pokéja?" Derek asked.
"I'm getting to that. Now, Pokemon and Humans have different types of Chakra. There was a group of ninja that wanted to become even stronger, so they challenged the strongest Pokemon they could. This battle was long and fierce. But, in the end, the Pokemon won out. It was then, the ninjas decided to dedicate their lives to be taught by Pokemon. This, however, was not able to be done. Since the Chakra of a Pokemon is significantly different from a human's, there was nothing for the Pokemon to teach the humans. In time, however, the humans learned that they could instill their bodies with the Chakra of a Pokemon. It was tested on an old Pokemon that was about to die anyway. When the Chakra was instilled in the humans, they gained an enormous amount of strength. However, this strength was too much for some to take, and they drove themselves to madness, trying to find tough opponents to battle. They were able to find strong opponents in Pokemon, but they ultimately died fighting them."
I listened intently to the story. I then piped up with "So how long have you been a Pokéja?" I asked.
"Wow. I think it's been about 10 years now. I was brought about as a regular ninja when I was 10, and at 12, was instilled with the Pokémon Chakra. Ten years to the date, and I still look about 16. I guess that's what happens with Pokémon Chakra. It slows your aging."
I sighed. 'He's way older than me. There's no way that I could be with him now...'
'Don't give up hope. Just have confidence'
'Alright.' "So, what Pokemon lent you their Chakra?" I asked.
"Well, this is interesting, cause I received my Chakra from two different Pokemon: One, a Machamp, and two, an Absol."
"So, strength, and speed are your abilities?"
"Yes. I am incredibly strong, and I am one of the fastest people in the area."
"I have no doubt about strength, as I faced you. But, only trial strength. Need to test more." Shiela said.
"Are you challenging me?" Brandon asked.
"Yes, challenging. You accept?"
"Sure! Outside?"
"Outside." And Shiela walked outside. Brandon followed her.
I started to go with them, but was stopped by mom. "I'll show you what happens." She then closed her eyes, and she started to glow purple. I then felt my mind shift, and I was in front of Brandon and Shiela. I looked around and saw the others there as well. I then looked back at the two fighters.
"Ready, puny human?"
"Ready as I'll ever be! You can move first!" Brandon said.
And, with speed unbecoming of an Abombasnow, dashed forward at Brandon with her head: A Headbutt.
Brandon just smiled and sidestepped it. However, just as he did so, her right arm began to glow green and turn into a blade-shape.
"That's Leaf Blade!" I said.
'How do you know?' mom asked.
"Well, when I was part of my clan, there was another of my brothers that agreed with me that there was a better place outside. His name was Ember, opposite of my name, Frost."
'Uh-huh, but what does that have to do with now?' mom said as Brandon easily avoided the attack.
"Well, when he was young, he was hit with a Leaf Blade attack by a very upset Nuzleaf. Our mother sorted it out, but it left Ember very scared of that attack."
'Well, I'm sure that when the time comes, Ember will rise above the challenge for that very same attack.' Mom replied with a smile.
I smiled as well, and continued to watch the match between Brandon and Shiela. It was a good thing we were inside, watching with our minds. Brandon must be catching his death of cold out there. Then I remembered that Absol had very resisting skin, as well as Machamp. He was going to be fine in that weather.
Brandon jumped high in the sky, and twirled around, bringing his arm down with him onto Shiela's back. It hit, and it looked as if it ripped a bit, like...
"Brandon just used a Pokemon attack!" I exclaimed.
'Yes and not just any Pokemon attack. He used Razor Arm.'
"Razor Arm? I've never heard of that attack before."
'Well, it's a difficult attack to master. It takes an enormous amount of concentration that only 2 Pokemon in the world are capable of: Gallade, and Absol.'
"Wow. It makes sense that he would be able to use that attack." I said, and then continued to watch the match.
Brandon dashed in and struck Shiela with his head, but she grabbed onto him just as he struck, and she flipped him onto his backside, where she fell on top of him, squishing him.
"Body slam," I said to myself. But as I said it, I felt weak. I shivered, and I lost sight of Brandon and Shiela. I then collapsed.
Okay! Sorry about taking so long. I've been working through Writers Block. You'll get some answers when the story continues in the next chapter, like why I had Red as a Minister.
