A Boy and his Luxray by boss_snikrot

Chapter 3 - Bonding

Tome had woken up roughly an hour later, having been placed on the table that Isis was examined on. Blinking in confusion, he tried to remember how he came to be there, almost losing consciousness again when the memory came back to him. He remembered Joy examining Isis, then she had declared that the Luxray was pregnant. The colour drained from his face as he came to the realisation that she was pregnant with his children.
"How?" he asked the empty room, not really wanting to know. It was staggering enough to know that this had happened. It almost felt like some terrible dream. Curiosity flickered over his face as he brought his hand to his other arm, pinching the skin hard.
"Oww!" he hissed, rubbing the spot he'd pinched as he realised that this was indeed the truth. Groaning, he got to his feet and shuffled wearily out of the room. This was going to be a long day.

Isis found her trainer seated on a bench not too far from the entrance of the pokemon centre, a faraway look on his face. It was a cool night and the moon shone bright, although no breeze stirred the bushes and the light from the pokemon centre made the atmosphere seem somewhat artificial. She had been worried about Tome ever since he'd fainted that morning, the news that she was pregnant coming as a total shock, made worse to her by the fact that he'd seemed like he'd been avoiding her all day. She wandered over slowly, not wanting to disturb him, and climbed up onto the bench next to him. For a moment neither of them spoke, Isis waiting patiently for him to marshal his thoughts.
"This wasn't supposed to happen. He suddenly blurted out, keeping his gaze on the ground. "I didn't... I didn't know I could..." Isis reached up with one paw, placing it on his shoulder with some difficulty.
"It's okay..." she began to say. Tome cut her off, his eyes showing desperation as they turned to her.
"How am I supposed to explain this?" he asked her, the morning's shock coming back in one big rush. The flood had started, and it was going to be hard to stop now. "I can't tell my parents that I'm going to be a father! At fifteen! To human-pokemon hybrids!" Isis wanted to comfort him, but he seemed much too distressed.
"What will they think? What will everyone else think?! How will they ever fit in anywhere?!" he cried out, forgetting that he was half shouting these things out in the open. Isis leaned in to nuzzle him, trying to calm him down before people started paying attention to what he was yelling. He pulled back from her, still horrified by the fact that he'd gotten the Luxray pregnant. She looked at him mournfully, feeling rejected by his reluctance to be close to her.
"I don't see what the problem is." She replied, her voice firm. "In case you've forgotten, I'm not exactly typical of my species-"
"You're not half human-" he made to argue, silenced when she brought her paw up to his mouth. For a moment neither of them spoke, Isis silently withdrawing her paw. She stared at him, frowning.
"I'm going to raise my cubs, Tome." She spoke, her tone making it clear that she wasn't going to accept any argument he might make. "They're my cubs, and I'll give them all the love and attention that they could ever want." She hopped off the bench and walked back over to the door, pausing while it slid open to admit her. "I hope you'll realise that they're your cubs too, Tome." With that, she went back into the centre to eat, leaving Tome with his thoughts. He shook his head clear, returning his gaze to the nearby sea.

"Uh, Isis? Can I talk to you for a minute?"
The Luxray looked up from her bowl, still finishing the last mouthful. Tome was standing next to her, looking anxious. She glanced at the clock on the wall, noting that it had been roughly ten minutes since they'd talked outside. She got to her feet, following Tome through the centre and towards the room they were using while they were in Mossdeep City. Once they had entered and Tome had closed the door, he guided her up onto the bed and took up position next to her. He kept his gaze on the floor, Isis waiting patiently for him to talk. They stayed like this for a minute, until finally he sighed.
"Isis, I'm sorry for the way I was acting before." He said, still not looking at her. "I was overwhelmed by the fact that we're going to be parents, and I forgot that you were a part of it too." She raised a paw and gently guided his face around until she could see his eyes, noticing the beginnings of tears.
"Tome, it's okay." She said, giving him a reassuring smile. He looked scared, despite her words.
"No, I was really self-centred." He replied, still feeling bad for what he'd said earlier. "All I could think of was how this would affect me. I didn't realise that they were your cubs too, so I didn't think. I love you, and I'm sorry." She moved her paw over his mouth to keep him from saying anything else, smiling at his sincerity.
"I love you too," she whispered, stroking his lips with the pads on her paws. He reached up and held her paw, rubbing it with his thumb. "And I'm glad that you feel the same way. Does that mean you're ready?" Keeping silent, he nodded. He couldn't help but notice the way the light danced on her orange fur, making it seem as though it was on fire. He liked the effect, moving his hand from her paw and to her face, running it along the side of her face and along her flank. Her paw moved to his chest, pushing him down onto his back while she laid on top of him. He noticed that she seemed a little heavier than usual, putting it down to the pregnancy until she kissed him, their lips brushing together driving all thought except her from his mind. He could feel her rubbing against him, prompting him to break off their kiss.
"Is it okay?" he asked, rubbing her back. She nodded gently, certain that everything would work out no matter. Convinced, the pressure in his underwear building, Tome worked his hands down so that he could undress. Isis watched, a twinge of amusement in her eyes, as he awkwardly removed his clothes while pinned underneath her, using his feet to kick his pants off and onto the ground. Once he was free of his clothing her own arousal became much more apparent to him as she pressed her sex against him, rubbing it along his rapidly hardening shaft. Wrapping one arm around her neck to keep her close, he braced his legs against the bed while reaching down to steady himself, pushing into her slick passage with little problem.
"Mmm..." she said, pressing herself into his body. He held her flank with one arm, the other still draped around her neck, as he drew himself out and thrust back in, his hips lifting as he pushed back into her welcoming body. She leaned down and nibbled his ear, her legs pressed tight against his sides while he held her in place, the rocking movement of their bodies sliding her breasts against his bare chest, the fur sending a tingling sensation through him and adding to the pleasure.
She brought her own hips closer to his, struggling to figure out the rhythm from her position. Humping unevenly, he pressed down with his lower arm and pinned her in place, loosening the pressure when he drew out. With his guidance, they figured out the pattern and started quickening the pace with every wonderful minute that passed. Tongue lolling out of her mouth, she pressed her muzzle into his ear, shivering while he planted kisses on her neck.
All too soon, she felt her climax approaching, crying out as he thrust all the harder into her, her passage tightening with each thrust until she gripped him powerfully, letting out a much louder moan as her sex convulsed onto his member. Fighting his grip, she slid off him and moved back until her muzzle hovered over his shaft, his seed leaking out of the tip. Propping it up with one paw she licked all along his length, relishing the taste of both of them as well as his gasp as he reached his own climax. His seed burst out, shooting all over her face and paws, coating her with the sticky white substance. He leaned back, watching as she cleaned herself up with her tongue and paws. When she was finished, she moved to lie next to him, still panting from the exertion. They simply laid there for the night, Tome wrapping one arm around Isis and kissing her on the cheek before they fell asleep.

The weeks passed quickly for the pair, Tome having decided to stay in Mossdeep to spare Isis having to travel too much. Joy had been quite helpful, providing much information to keep Isis both healthy and happy, Tome having diligently followed the tips to keep his love comfortable at all times. There was just one thing worrying Tome, and that was when Isis would go into labour. He desperately hoped it would be while they were alone in the room, away from prying eyes and awkward questions.
He leaned back in the seat, having just finished off a nice breakfast. In order to keep them secure, Tome had taken to doing odd jobs around Mossdeep so that they always had money. Today he had nothing to do, and so had decided to spend time grooming Isis. He had tried to set aside a day or two each week to train his pokemon, at least four to earn money, and one whole day to spend with Isis. She didn't resent his responsibilities for one second, content to rest as the weeks progressed and the birth of their cubs drew nearer.
She looked up at him, smiling at her boyfriend. She admired how much more responsible he had become over time, but the poor boy was running himself ragged. He needed to slow down for a bit, take some time off and rest. She hopped up onto the seat, the movement much slower and more careful than it would have been before she found out she was going to be a mother. She sat close to him, letting her head rest on his lap while he scratched her behind the ear. Joy wandered over, the morning having been slow and leaving her some free time.
"How are you this morning, Isis?" she asked, placing one hand on her stomach and rubbing it gently. The two had become more familiar with each other, Joy taking a professional interest in her wellbeing and a personal interest in the event. Delivering pokemon babies was something she enjoyed, glad to be able to help a new life take its first steps into the world.
"Good, thank you." She answered, nodding politely so that Joy could see what she meant. The nurse smiled, running her hand along her flank and patting the orange furred Luxray.
"You be careful getting down from there." She chided, turning to leave and find something else to do. Before she could leave, Isis let out a short yelp. She looked with worry at the pokemon, her gaze drawn by the mess that had appeared on the edge of the seat. Knowing what it meant, she stepped back and gave Isis room to stand on the ground.
"She's gone into labour!" she gasped, waving the pair towards the operating rooms in the back of the centre. "We have to hurry!" Tome blanched, his face draining of colour as he realised that Joy would be in the room as well. Unable to do anything, he resorted to thinking of some way of explaining the likely unnatural appearance of the cubs as they lifted Isis and quickly moved her to the operating room.
Once they had set her down on a table, Tome moved to hold her paw while Joy busied herself getting everything she needed in order. He paid her no mind, his attention firmly on Isis and her comfort, the Luxray lying on her side and panting heavily. He stroked her paw, squeezing it gently while Joy readied herself to help the cubs out if they needed it.
"You're going to be okay." He whispered to her, Isis only able to look at him as a response. Joy nodded, even though Isis couldn't see her.
"Alright, now you need to push." She said, although Isis didn't need to be told. Her panting stopped for a second as she strained, the muscles in her midsection tightening as she pushed the first of her cubs out. Tome, not looking at Joy, was startled as he heard the nurse give a surprised squeak. He looked over as she placed the cub gently on a towel, though her face showed little focus due to the sight of the cub. It looked more or less like a regular Shinx but for a couple of glaring differences. The cub had bright orange fur like its mother, but on top of its head the fur branched out more like hair than the fur of a regular Shinx. What was more shocking to Joy though, was that the cub's hind legs were shaped like human legs. They were covered with dark blue fur, the paws on the end elongated so that they took more of the length of feet. Joy had little time to examine further, as Isis stopped panting again and strained to give birth to the second cub. Joy placed this one next to its mewling sibling, turning in time to grab the third and final cub that the Luxray gave birth to.
Tome watched, pride filling his heart, as Isis curled around to lick her newly born clean. She started on one, leaving Tome and Joy one each to bathe. Taking one, he took a quick look around to find that he was now father to two sons and a daughter before placing one of his sons in a small dish and gently rubbing water through his fur. Joy was doing the same for his daughter, though she wore a troubled look. Catching sight of his glance, she fixed him with a hard stare.
"Marcus," she began. "Do you know who the father is?"
Tome looked at her, taken aback by the question. All of his hastily thought of excuses didn't cover this question! He stayed silent for a minute, still absently bathing his son, before he finally nodded.
"Yes. I am." He reluctantly confirmed, fixing his gaze back on the cub as he dried him. Joy said nothing, placing the girl down next to Isis along with her brothers and watching as they crawled close to their mother, anxious to feed. Isis watched Tome and Joy as her children suckled her breasts, the milk flowing freely into their mouths and down their throats as they gulped it down. Joy sighed, her gaze still fixed on the cubs.
"I never expected to see this when I came to Mossdeep." She said finally, turning and walking over to a shelf laden with medical books. "I knew it happened, but it's not something you expect from a community where everyone knows each other." Tome and Isis looked at each other, wondering just what she was talking about.
"Uh, Nurse Joy?" Tome asked tentatively. "What do you mean?" She paused, before finally drawing an old book from the shelf and returning to the new family, placing it down where they could see it clearly.
"There's a legend that's been passed down through my family for generations," she started, "about the relationships between humans and pokemon." She flipped the book open, turning to a page near the start. One page was filled with writing while the other was dominated by an image depicting two pokemon, both with the appearance of dragons.
"When the universe began," she continued, indicating the picture. "It was formed by Dialga who shaped time, and Palkia who shaped the dimensions. They expected that all life would conform to the governing rules of space and time. Three other pokemon, Mesprit, Azelf and Uxie, who created spirit, knew differently." No one spoke, the only sound during Joy's break coming from the cubs as they continued to feed.
"They knew that while it was likely that pokemon and humans would be independent of each other where spirit was concerned, it was inevitable that some would fall in love with each other and interbreed." She said, flipping the page again. More text was seen, although once again their attention was drawn to the picture of the opposite page. This showed three pokemon in a circle, tail to nose with their kin, while in the middle was a picture of a Gardevoir embracing a human. "The weavers of spirit spread the message to the first humans and pokemon that they would be allowed to enjoy relationships together, and for an age there was peace." Joy flipped the page again.
"But without hate, love cannot exist." She said, indicating the next picture. This one showed many humans, their garb showing them ready for war. On the opposite side of the page the human and the Gardevoir cowered, afraid of the mobs wrath. "Many humans banded together, their ignorance making them believe that the union of humans and pokemon was wrong. They hunted down the lovers, until the last few were forced to go into hiding. The idea of a human and a pokemon being in love became abhorred, and so those who felt their hearts guide them towards those not of their species were forced to keep their love secret." Tome looked at Joy for a long moment, not sure what to think.
"So..." Tome ventured. "That means that a pokemon and a human are allowed to be in love?" Joy nodded, closing the book. She walked to the book shelf again, putting the old book back and selecting a small folder before returning to the table. She opened it, revealing several clippings from a Sinnoh newspaper.
"Now, the weavers of spirit are awakening again." She said, indicating the clippings. Tome looked at them, seeing that the titles all referred to the sighting of a legendary pokemon in Sinnoh somewhere. "My family believes that they will try and spread the same message, since the number of interspecies lovers has decreased. We keep track of those we know about, helping them keep their love secret as well as checking on their health."
"Then we're not alone in this?" he asked, feeling a sense of relief. If there was nothing wrong with him and Isis being in love, things would be much easier if he ever needed to tell his parents. Joy shook her head, placing the folder back on the shelf. She moved to a nearby drawer and withdrew a small pendant, handing it to Tome. He examined it, seeing the same image of the three masters of spirit in a circle, tail to nose.
"Keep this with you." She said as he slipped it around his neck. "My sisters will be able to help you with rearing your children, while any Officer Jenny will help you move them through populated areas without attracting attention. We keep in contact with others, so we can help you co-ordinate your journey without trouble."
"Thank you for this." He said, gripping the pendant in one hand. As Joy left to check on the centre, Tome turned back to Isis. Sated, his sons were cuddling close to their mother, her paw draped around them in a loose hug. His daughter was closer to him, and he watched as she pushed herself to her hind legs to take an unsteady step towards him. He caught her as she pitched forwards, holding her in his arms comfortably. Her hair came down in a fringe over one eye, the other one looking at him adoringly. He noticed with a start that it was the same colour as his own, and he smiled down at his new born daughter with pride.

Four years later...

Tome fingered the pendant that hung from his neck again, received all those years ago in Mossdeep City, looking over at Isis. She returned his gaze, shuffling closer to him and allowing him to drape an arm over her back. He hadn't grown much more, although his hair had lengthened slightly and he was sporting the beginnings of facial hair. She hadn't changed at all, something Tome told her often he was grateful for. They looked over to where their children were playing with each other, making the most of a rare moment of solitude to get some exercise and fresh air. Their human heritage slowed their evolution, having only just recently evolved into their Luxio half breed forms. As they watched, one of the boys zapped at their daughter with a weak burst of electricity. She scrambled away on all fours, only straightening back up when she was closer to her parents.
"Mum! Dad! Talon tried to zap me again!" she complained, her face screwed up in an adorable scowl. Isis smiled at her, resting a paw on her shoulder as she sat down in front of her mother.
"Talon, your mother and I keep telling you not to zap Melody." Tome scolded his mischievous son, watching as the young Luxio half breed ran over to them, followed closely by his brother.
"She started it!" he said defensively. "She said that I liked that half Miltank we met a few days ago!" Tome grasped his son in a firm hug, trying to calm him down.
"You have to stop taking notice when she says things like that." Isis chipped in, nodding towards the third sibling, who had thus far remained silent. "You don't see Erik getting worked up over things like that." Shrugging, Talon squirmed out of his father's arms and returned to exploring their surroundings. Melody soon joined him, all animosity forgotten in the face of being able to play outside. Erik didn't join them, instead sitting between his parents. He looked troubled, not moving even when Tome brought him closer.
"What's wrong?" he asked, curious.
"It's that Combusken girl." He muttered. "I... I like her." Isis moved over, nuzzling her son. None of the cubs had questioned their heritage, perfectly content with their mother being fully pokemon and their father being human.
"That's sweet!" she said. "Have you talked to her yet?" Erik buried his head in his arms, muttering an inaudible answer which they took to mean no. Tome smiled, ruffling his hair.
"You should." He said. "You should always let your heart guide you." Erik didn't move for a minute, taking in the advice. Finally he thanked Tome for the advice, running back to join his siblings. Isis nodded at Tome, happy that he'd turned out to be a great father. Tome smiled back, watching their children play.
Joy had given him a Sinnoh newspaper the previous day, an article highlighted about another sighting of one of the weavers of spirit. They were becoming more frequent, the day was approaching where his children wouldn't need to be hidden from the world.
Chapter End Notes:------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, so that's how it's turned out. I'll admit I found this harder to write than my own stories, but that's probably because I wasn't the one to invent the characters and plot line.

For those of you who've read my other stories as well, you'll obviously notice the rather large differences in breeding between them. Whereas in this story a human and any pokemon can have children, this is not the case in my own writing, where only pokemon close enough to the human biology (such as Gardevoir) could produce children with a human. This is simply to do with what I was requested, as opposed to how I believe the process would work. I have no issue writing it this way, but it won't appear in my original works.

There were a few bits to the request that didn't make it into the story, or were modified somewhat. Some things were just a little uncomfortable thinking about. Just my 0.02, hopefully it won't be too much of a problem.

All I can really hope for is that it lives up to expectations, but I won't hold my breath
