Story Notes:
This is a practice story. I usually don't like to write, because I'm too picky. But I suppose that doesn't help me at all at getting better, eh? So here's this. I kind of pulled it out of nowhere. Hopefully it will get better as I go. Also, fail name. Sorry =(Also, I'm not fixing the problem with quotations unless it really henders the reading.I am on a writers block right now... may be a while before next chapter. Please rate and review, I really do appreciate any criticism that anyone may have to offer.Pokemon and all publicly recognized characters, settings, or names are copyright of Nintendo and the Pokemon Company. Chapter 1 - The Meeting
Thats just what a Sandslash was thinking as she crawled out of her dug out den, and sniffed the air. She stretched her arms and legs, yawning and smacking her jaw a little. After popping her neck, she walked over to a bush, where she found some big, round blue berries. She popped one of the Oran berries in her mouth and chewed it up, swallowing.
The Sandslash, whose name was Rose, walked away from her den. The area she resided in was on the side of a large mountain, one of the larger ones that looked over the rest. It was midway through autumn, and all the aspen trees had turned a bright golden with the very tops of them turning red. It had snowed two days before, so some snow was still on the trees and on the ground.
Rose walked down the mountain for a few minutes, taking in the morning air. She was born into the area by her parents, who then moved away when she grew up. She visited them on another mountain sometimes. She had control over the mountain, with no one to boss her around. She was an average Sandslash: brown skin with her belly being white, long, sharp claws used for digging and defending herself on both her paws and feet, and large, brown spines covering her back and a tail to help her keep her balance.
This day, she planned on going out to forage for something more than just Oran berries. They were good, but got tiring after a while. Her den was almost all the way on top of the mountain, so it took a while for her to walk back down the mountain. She had miraculously managed to plant the Oran berry bush there with a berry she brought up with her one day. Even though it was cold, and the soil wasnt the best, it had grown up so she didnt actually have to walk down every day for food if she didnt want to. Luckily though, Oran berries were pretty resilient. Today though, she thought she just might do something different though.
After about a ten minute walk down the mountain to the bass, the foliage started to thicken, with trees appearing a lot more often and more small Pokmon appearing. She walked over to a bush she saw, looking at the small red berries in it. Identifying that they were Cheri berries, she picked some and ate them. She had some friends on the mountain that she liked to visit sometimes, mostly just some Spearow and such. She saw a Larvitar one day.
Still walking, she came to a small group of trees, where some Spearow lived. Hey guys! She called out.
Rose? Is that you? Someone called out from the trees.
Yeah. Just me. Two small Spearow walked out on a branch to confirm it, and then flew down to her.
What are you doing this morning? One of them asked.
Just going on a little walk. Taking in the fresh mountain air. She yawned.
You seem a bit bored. Hey, we saw someone you might be interested in meeting the other day. The other Spearow said.
Who might that be? She asked, curious.
Another Sandslash. He seemed to not know where he was, so we suspected he was new to the area. We saw him a little east of here.
Okay. Thanks guys, Ill go look for him now I suppose. She headed off in the direction.
Rose had not heard of seeing another Sandslash anywhere in those parts of the mountains except for her parents a couple mountains over. She was curious, and eagerly set out to hopefully find this Sandslash.
After a couple hours of looking around, the only evidence she found of him was some claw marks on a tree. She sighed and headed back up her mountain to the den. Before she got to the foot of the mountain to start the climb, she heard a cry from somewhere. She stopped dead in her tracks, listening hard for whatever sound that was. After a few seconds, she heard it again. It wasnt too far away. She ran off in the direction she heard it from.
As she came closer to where the sound was, she could make out the cries of a Charmeleon and a Sandslash? She sprinted through some woods, and not too long afterwards, saw a clearing. She hid behind a tree and looked around. A Charmeleon and Sandslash were fighting.
The Charmeleon, whom had some minor slash marks on his belly already, let out a flamethrower, which the Sandslash barely dodged. He caught his balanced and leaped toward the Charmeleon, who retaliated with a counter slash to his cheek. He then slashed at his leg as well, gashing it open right on a previous burn. He cried out in pain and landed on his back. The Charmeleon leapt on top of him and put his claws to his throat.
Rose decided to act, jumping out from the trees and giving a Slash to the Charmeleons back. He cried out, and then ran away into the trees, a trail of blood following him. Rose humphed and stuck her tongue out at him. She then remembered the other Sandslash.
Are you okay? Youre not too badly hurt, are you? Rose bent down over the other Sandslash, whose cheek was slashed open and bleeding a lot.
I-I, think so he said in a pained voice.
Your cheek! Its bleeding a lot! And your leg too! Hold on. She ran over to and jumped into a tree, quickly picking some leaves and jumping back down. She wiped the blood off the Sandslashs cheek with a couple and used one to hold against it, and then did the same with his leg. Are you okay?
Th-thanks I think Im okay. He got me really good when he slashed me. He groaned a little in pain. Also, my right leg He scorched it with a flamethrower. Then he slashed it open. Rose checked, and sure enough, it was black and flaky with three claw marks through it.
Ive got an idea. Can you walk at all?
Yeah, I think I can limp on this other leg.
Good. Come with me. She helped him up, and then let him lean on her and limp on his left foot. She took him to the base of the mountain and sat him down against a tree. Here, let me get you a Rawst berry. She picked one from a nearby bush and had him eat it. That should take the pain away from the burn. She then found a tree with large leaves, and took a branch from a bush, wrapping it around the leaf on his leg to hold it tight.
Thank you very much, miss He ate the berry. That Charmeleon jumped me because apparently I was in his territory.
That was a lie, because this is my territory here. He probably used that as an excuse to jump you. She wiped his cheek off again with another leaf. So what brings you to this part of the mountains? She asked.
Ive been wondering around for quite a while now, traveling from place to place. Ive always heard this area around here was nice, so I decided to come here. Besides being jumped, Ive liked it here so far."
Oh, I dont think I caught your name. Rose said.
My name is Aden. Whats yours?
My name is Rose. Im glad to meet you, Aden. She said.
If you want me to, I can stay down here with you tonight, just in case you get jumped again.
Thatd be good. Im sorry if Im a burden to you He blushed a little.
Oh! Its no problem at all, so dont worry yourself. She blushed a little as well. Hold on here for a second. Rose leapt into the forest. After a while, she came back with an armful of leaves. She lied them down as a bad for Aden. Here you go. I hope its comfortable enough for you.
Thank you very much. I appreciate this very much He crawled on top of the bed and stretched a little. This will work just fine.
Shall I get some berries, for you?
Are you sure?
Once again, dont worry yourself. She gathered some berries and gave them to him. He gladly ate them all down fairly quickly. You were hungrier than you seemed.
Since Ive been traveling a lot, I tend not to eat too much.
Well, I hope Ive helped you. Im sorry you got jumped. Ive never seen him around here before. Rose apologized.
Its not your fault. In fact, I would be dead if you didnt jump in. He would have ripped my throat out. He rubbed his throat.
I had to jump in though. I didnt want him to kill you.
The two Sandslash went on talking for the rest of the day. When it started to get dark, Rose made herself a bed next to Aden. They talked all through the night, admiring the stars.
Rose, I think Im going to sleep. Im really tired Aden said, yawning.
Okay. You get some rest and try to recover. Ill be right here next to you if you need anything.
Thank you, Rose. He blushed, not visible to her in the night. Rose laid her head on her arm and closed her eyes, smiling. She really liked Aden. She fell asleep thinking about him that night.Chapter End Notes:Whether enough people like it enough will determine if I write more or not. Once again, please rate and comment
