Prologue

The year is 2074, March 27. This day marked a drastic change in the history of mankind on Earth. What was once thought as a child's game and nothing more than fantasy appeared all over the world. As the head scientist of Vault-Tec and was commisioned by the government of the United States of America, to capture and study these various species that have appeared "out of thin air." The easy part was figuring out what species have came. Lucarios, Blazikens, Houndours, Absols, Mightyenyas, Luxrays, Gardevoirs and Gallades. Figuring out what each of these species can do indivisually was the real challenge.

We had started off with the absols. After many tests and trails, we conclded that the most remarkable features they possessed were exceptional hunting and tracking skills and the natural ability that we was told to sense natural disasters. Next was the houndours. They were more defiant in our testings until they ignited a fire and the sprinklers sprayed water all over them. Like most species of dogs, water was not their best friend and some showed sign of weakness after being drenched in the water. With this in mind, the tests went more smoothly and the houndours were kept in containment unless if they exhibited to be docile and willing to work with us. Few oblieged. While at the same time, we worked with the mightenyas. By attempting to psychologically bond with them, they proved just as loyal as the domesticated dog with more abilities then the average canines. Their pups they birthed which were classified as poochyenyas were a smash hit with children.

Luxrays were particulary interesting. Many of us questioned how they could carry so much volts in their bodies without overloading or killing themselves. They became close friends with electricians and in power plants to help power cities and homes. Their kittens they bred were favorable amongst stay-at-home parents and children... as long they didn't accidentally discharge their electricity. A mere momentary solution. Then came time to study upon the most human looking beings among those that arrived, gardevoirs and gallades. Despite a few incidents, they proved themselves just as civilized as us and even learned our language within a week if not within an hour of coming into contact with a human! We placed them in several enviroments such as a teaching job, keeping a home clean, or just common day-to-day life. They all took right to it and adapted like they was doing it all their lives! Suffice to say, they were the most favorable amongst the public.

Eventually, our studies came to the spirited and powerful blazikens. Even put to the test of lifting and transporting heavy objects, such as concrete, bricks and other construction based material, they proved most vaulueable in Vault-Tec's construction of the Vaults which would house us in case of an nuclear armageddon. Some were released for public use and most found jobs in metal-working and welding.

Last but certainly not least, and after Vault-Tec and the government eagerly pushing us and offering the double if not triple our pay for these studies, we got to the lucarios. The government demanded absoulte thoroughness on each and every lucario they sent to us. We did what we was told and was quite surprised by the behavior they exhibited. Like humans, they displayed emotion, did humanly things but maintaining their own instincts nonetheless. When we brought them to a task too big for one of them, they worked together like one big organism. Despite their seemingly frail appearance, they showed great strength and endurance. When confronted with puzzles and mazes, their intellect was proven superior to that of several supercomputers working either simultaniously or multi-tasking. All and all, the most prominent observations made was the amount of affection they show towards each other. They laugh, they hurt, they cry. In simplar terms, they are just like us. In all of my years of studying unknown species, these proud and beautiful creatures have captivated my heart and I wish to learn so much more about them.

Astounding! I never expected anything quite like this! When reviewing the ovservations tapes, we visually saw some of the lucarios, mostly the females, eyeing the staff of the opposite gender. Whenever the one they was looking at turned in their direction, they hastily turned away. Even though the cameras could not see it, we knew that they were blushing under that fur.

When we submitted a current report of the lucarios, Vault-Tec asked if they can be used for anything else besides civil work. They asked if they can be used as soldiers. They had informed us that the government had ordered to find out if they could be used in combat. Personally, I was appaled by the fact they would ask us to use these kind and gentle creatures in warfare. They certainly surprised us when they showed that they wasn't as gentle as they seemed.

I, reluctantly, oversaw everything combat variation they were pitted against. From local wildlife to actual people, they proved themselves most lethal but what confounded us was the fact when they killed what threatened them, there was no brusing, no brokn bones, no injury of any kind on the bodies that could physically felt. Upon autopsy of the corpses, we discovered that they, somehow, had affected their major organs like their hearts or lungs and tore them apart or sent into disarray with just using their paws. Using special equipment, we found that they emitted a sort of energy that was concentrated to kill and pin-pointed directly where their major organs were at.

Upon submission of the report, both Vault-Tec and the government was shocked upon how lethal they was and they demanded that we developed armor and weapons to harness their unique energy, their "aura" as one of the lucarios mentioned, to protect themselves and bring any warring nation agaisnt them to their knees.

Development and mass-production of the armor and weapons is complete. As much as I don't like it, I assisted distributing the power armor and weaponry to the lucarios that had proven themselves combat worthy on the battlefeld which was, in a majority, most of them. Interesting note, when I handed the armor to this one pair of oddly colored lucarios, they were silver furred and the female had sapphire blue eyes while the male had slightly white eyes but not blind. This allowed them to stand out from the rest of them. The male seemed awfully concerned about the female whom failed the tests for armed combat. The look on the female's face was a look I would never forget. Her face showed both worry and fear. Fear that if her mate was sent into combat, he might not come back. Several other pairs displayed the same sentiments for their mate.

As much as I hated to promote such actions, I went before the Board and made a proposal along with my observations when distributing the equipment. I proposed a test to see if those who have failed armed combat could possibly excell as medics and doctors. The board took an instant liking to the idea and implemented proceedures in a testing mode. The same silver furred female took to the test and succeeded in all of the tests. An alternaive power armor was distributed. Much lighter and not as encumbering as the first model but offered less protection. The same couple came up to the table the female's face beamed with joy and pride as she picked up her equipment. The male seemed just as happy as well despite the fact that they were most likely be going into combat.

Tensions are high amongst the interspecies. Fights of jealousy about the lucarios' prowess broke out and annoyed the majority the other species there to no end. The gallades, blazikens, mightyenyas and houndours have grown restless around lucarios. A death toll has started and the species that are suffering the most are the lucarios surprisingly. Despite their fighting capabilities and ability to put down any that fight them, they refuse to do battle with the other pokémon. They take full advantage of the fact and killed them. It takes a while for them (the lucarios) to realize that their opponents wouldn't stop attacking them and started to defend themselves. One instance when all hell broke loose was when one of the silver furred lucarios' pup was killed.

The parents of the riolu were outraged and wiped out the majority of the houndooms, the species that executed the deed, and any other races that were in on it. Things like this couldn't continue any longer. We filled their rooms with sleeping gas and placed in high security chambers and we monitored each and every one around the clock. Those who have showed no interest were left alone while the agitators were imprisoned and isolated. The father of the riolu showed remorse and regret for his actions was evident if nothing else and paced around his room, pondering what could've been a better course of action. The mother was much worse. She was distraught, heartbroken, and deeply depressed. She just laid on her bed, not moving an inch and randomly stroking a part of the bed which her pup would've been at if she was still alive. Her fur became matted with tears and she was starving herself to death. Although, the male somehow escaped from his cell but didn't flee from the facility. Instead, he went into his mate's cell and stayed there and comforted her. Only then did she started to eat again.

They dropped. The bombs have fallen. The world now is burning in fire... and radiation. Tensions broke and the ICBMs and WMDs left their silos and launched into the sky to their destinations. Before the bombs fell, the staff herded the lucarios, the much proudly invested project of the government, in the Master Vault. Vault-Tec built this orginally to cryogenically freeze the greatest minds of this time, world leaders, and other VIPs to awaken in a time where life was sustainable. But since the project kicked off, the Master Vault was rewired to not only serve the needs of humans but to serve the needs of the lucarios and any other species we could bring down with us and also built more tanks specifically for the lucarios.

While transporting them to safety, this one lucario in particular was scared out of her mind that I had to carry her into the Vault. She did some of the more common affection any other lucario would give to another of their kind but this lucario when I set her down wrapped me in a hug and unmistakeably kissed me! Needless to say, I was utterly dumbfounded when she did this. I mean really, why would something as young as this female lucario want to kiss me? It's really has shaken my mind.

In the last transmission with Vault-Tec, they apponted me as the Overseer of the Master Vault and many of the lucarios looked at me with respect and do what they are told when I ask them to do something. It was like they wanted me to be the one who watches over them. I think a contributing factor was the lucario that I carried in was the daughter to this "clan's" leaders.

After a few days, everyone got settled in and we still continue to study them. A new mystery appears that we must solve because, whatever we may record, may help these beings make their own lives or answer to where they came from. If the human race does die out, and these kind, gently, beautiful creatures become the dominant species, I will do all I can to ensure their survival through this time.

END OF COMPUTER LOG
Chapter End Notes:I'm trying my best to appeal to everyone's taste but I know full well I can't please everyone. If ya don't like it, go ahead and leave the story alone. That is all. Also, just so no one is confused, this is not the end. It's merely just the beginning.
