Amnesia?-Chapter Six: A Picnic, A Dumb Idea, And A Suit of A.R.M.O.R.

Once again, Blaze rose with the sun. When he remembered the tournament, he quickly got up and got dressed. Only then did he notice the absence of Sakura, he cast his gaze about, hoping to find her. A few seconds later, he saw her enter through the main entrance (The one that ISN'T the window), carrying an armful of berries.

"Breakfast," she said, and they ate the berries.

When they finished, Blaze asked, "Shall we get going? I want to see who we're up against today." Sakura nodded and they left.

When they arrived at the field, they found it jam-packed with spectators. As they landed, Blaze would swear to this day that every eye not belonging to a contestant turned towards him. He never once questioned why, either.

When they walked over to the zangoose who was proctoring the event, they found out that they would have four matches today, between each of which they would only get a short break, and they were to go to the ring as soon as they were ready. They went there immediately. This time, there were no jeers as they entered the ring, the crowd knowing not to underestimate him this time.

All sixteen matches would happen at once, and the first opponents they would face were already there. In the field in front of them were a ponyta and a wartortle. A gong sounded and Blaze looked over to see a blastiose standing next to the zangoose, who was holding a stick. He rolled his eyes and decided to laugh later. Now, it was kick the crap out of or have the crap kicked out of him.

The ponyta charged. Remembering that the zangoose had said that weapons were allowed as long as no one was severely injured, he drew Aisu in his left hand, spinning it out of the holster and aiming it at the fire-type, he pulled the trigger twice and the ponyta fell to the ground in mid-charge, unconscious. The wartortle went down in three shots. The rest of the fights were (somehow) even easier.

After the last round, they saw a charizard and a torterra approach them. When they were within shouting distance, the charizard called out "Sakura, Blaze, I see you made it to the semi-finals as well. Good job, but you may as well surrender now. A human and a mew don't stand a chance against me, let alone two fully evolved pokemon."

"Flash?! Is that you?" asked Sakura the charizard in wonder.

"Of course it's me. Do you know any other chars as powerful as I am?" replied Flash.

"Yeah, but none as cocky," Blaze whispered to Sakura.

Unfortunately, charizards have really good hearing. "What did you say, human? You think you can take me? Then come at me right here, right now, and we'll see who the cocky one is!" and started charging him.

"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE, FLASH!" yelled a voice that sounded like a tree crashing to the ground, and the charizard staggered to a halt, looking at the torterra behind him. "Save it for tomorrow. They're our competition, remember?"

"But...," said Flash.

"No Buts. You attack them and we're disqualified, remember? I swear. You act like a three year old when it comes to your pride."

Flash's shoulders slumped. "Yes, Crash," he said, dejectedly.

It was only noon, so instead of going home, Sakura suggested that they go have a picnic. Blaze accepted and they left, heading southwest. A while later, they arrived at a mountain, the south side of which had a beautiful waterfall, at the base of which was a serene lake, from which a stream flowed to the ocean.

A little while later, Blaze was sitting, watching various pokemon playing in and around the lake, and he felt Sakura returning. Right before she emerged from the forest, he saw a young buizel jump out of the water and scare the crap out of a flareon on the shore. Then the two of them collapsed in a fit of laughter, and giving Blaze an idea, and a wide, mischievous grin split his face.

When Sakura came and sat next to him, he said "You mind sorting those on your own while I go and see if I can catch us some fish?"

"Sure, no prob, but...won't you need a tool to do that? I mean, you are a human after all."

"Oh, please! Give me some credit, not all humans are unskilled," said Blaze, pretending to be insulted, as he ran off to the lake. When he got there, he summoned the blue flames to his feet and started to walk over the surface, heading for a patch of hollow reeds next to the cliff face. When he got THERE, he grabbed a reed and cleaned out the stiff woody stem. Then he put it to his mouth and, with a loud splash, submerged. Then he waited.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About five minutes later, Sakura began to worry. She knew Blaze had gone under, but she didn't think he'd come back up, so she went out to search for him. Blaze waited until she was almost directly over him, and had her back to him, and then he swiftly jumped out of the water with a splash, tapped her on the back and yelled "BOO!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Without thinking Sakura spun around yelling "HOLY SHIT MOTHER OF GOD!!!!!!!" and sent Blaze flying into the cliff wall (using a blast of psychic energy) hard enough to create a small crater, and causing him to cough up blood. As he slid to the floor, the edges of his vision went dark, and he knew he was about to faint. He struggled against this, but to no avail. The last thing he saw was the silhouette of a woman with a tail and cat ears, and then the world vanished.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Oh, sh-sh-shit! Blaze! Are you ok?!" cried Sakura, panicking at the sight of blood. "Answer me! Please...answer me," she was breaking down and crying by the time she finished saying this.

Sakura looked up when she heard a footstep next to her, but the last thing she remembers is a human-like,green-furred hand, and then blackness.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He didn't know how long he slept, but when Blaze awoke, he found that his internal injuries had somehow been tended to. As soon as he realized that he was no longer at the lake, he looked around to see where he was. Then he noticed two important details. First: Sakura was next to him, asleep, and second: they were back in the cave they lived in. as he stood up, Sakura stirred. As she opened her eyes, she found Blaze standing next to her, smiling comfortingly.

After a few seconds, however, she remembered the events that had transpired prior to their brief (or was it?) nap. When she did, she cried out "You shouldn't be moving around yet! We don't know how bad you're injuries are!" then in a quieter voice, with tears in her eyes, she said, "I-I didn't mean to hurt you! I really didn't! I would never-," but before she could finish, blaze cut her off with a tender, loving kiss.

"I know," was all he said, but with that, she fell against his chest, crying from every emotion being overwhelmed. Anger at Blaze for scaring her, fear that he was going to die, sadness that she could only watch helplessly, but most of all, relief and happiness that he was ok. She just sat there and cried for an hour or so, with Blaze just holding onto her comfortingly, until she had run out of tears. Shortly afterwards she fell asleep. Looking out the window, Blaze guessed that it was around 10:00 at night, so he followed her example and fell asleep.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again, Blaze rose well rested with the sun. He looked around to see Sakura already up. After a quick breakfast, they left for the arena, only to find it almost completely empty. After asking why, they found that the match didn't start until noon. Upon discovering this, they decided to go to the most isolated spot on the island for some last minute training. This meant the Quarantine Beach.

Upon arrival, Blaze immediately noticed two new crates, identical to the first in every respect other than size. One was the size of a suitcase, and the other was the size of a wardrobe. Walking over to the smaller one, Blaze opened it to find it filled with magazines for a gun. They all appeared to be for his guns. Half of the mags contained bullets with a slight red tint, the other with a slightly blue tint. The ones with the blue bullets had the kanji for water on both sides, and the ones with the red bullets had the kanji for water. On top of all of this was a note. It read:

We found these at your hideout. Obviously, we can't use them as they were made for your guns. Needless to say, we don't have any .425 caliber weapons, let alone one that can fire a bullet with no powder, so I sent them to you. Also sent some basic survival gear.

R.L.

"No powder?" thought Blaze. Well, now that he took a moment to think about it, the mags in his guns were still full, but he never used the ammo. Well, time to see what would happen if he did. Well, that is, after he checked out the other container.

When he opened this one, he found several bundles of cloth. As he unwrapped them, the dull glint of a strange black metal revealed itself and then fused into a suit of black armor. It seemed to be made of many small plates bound seamlessly by chainmail of the highest quality. The gauntlets and boots were reinforced and padded for hand-to-hand combat. At the waistline in the back were a pair of holsters for his guns, and three rings ran diagonally across the back where he could put Gouka's scabbard. He put it on and the whole suit fit perfectly, and allowed complete freedom of movement. He could barely tell it was there it was so light. When he looked back into the container, Blaze saw a note at the bottom he picked it up, and read it. It said:

Custom crafted, will protect you from most anything. Hope you like as it was expensive.

R.L.

Blaze looked in the container one last time and was glad for it. For lying at the bottom, where it had been hidden under the note, was what looked like a pair of unconnected headphones. He picked them up and put them on his ears. Almost instantaneously, a clear, almost invisible glass shield came out of one and connected to the other, as soon as it did, it took on a green tint and strange symbols came up that, although he had no idea how, he could read, and he heard a feminine computer voice say "Welcome to the Rocket Military Officer's Recon suit, or A.R.M.O.R. for short. This model has been custom crafted for; Luke F. Fabre, DNA confirmed. Would you like to change the user's name?"

"Yes," said Blaze.

"To what," said the computer voice, as a microphone popped out of the left phone.

"Blaze," said the one with the previously mentioned name.

"Confirmed. New user: Blaze," said the voice.

Blaze turned his head to look at Sakura, and suddenly, a circle appeared around her it displayed her type, species, level, battle power, status, temperature, height, weight, even her gender, in a box off to the side of the screen that was connected to the circle by a line.

"This is the Visual Interspecies Surveillance and Aura Reader, also called the V.I.S.A.R. press the button on the right headphone to activate and deactivate." Said the voice.

Blaze pressed a button on the right headphone, and the glass shield retracted into the headphone. "Well, I suppose it's time to test the ammo for the guns," he thought, walking over to where he had set up some targets. When he got there, he pulled out his guns and cocked them, getting a round in the chamber. He aimed at the two targets that he had set up, and pulled the triggers.

Normally, when he fired an orb of blunt energy would just silently materialize in front of the barrel and be sent flying wherever it was pointed, with no recoil at all. Now, however, the guns jumped in his hands, sending two needle-like blasts of energy towards the target. When they hit, they left two holes in the center of the targets, which then proceeded to disintegrate. After mere seconds, the targets were nothing more than dust on the wind. Seeing this, Blaze immediately pulled the clips out of the guns and cocked them, removing the rounds that had been sent in to the chambers and letting them fall to the ground.

"Why did you take those out?" asked Sakura, indicating the bullets now lying in the sand.

"They're too dangerous," was all Blaze said. Even so, before they left, he grabbed the container and said "It's almost time for our fight, so let's put these in the den and go," Sakura nodded and teleported them back to the den.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When they arrived, Blaze went and put the box in a corner where it wouldn't be disturbed. Before walking away, he put a few mags in some hidden pockets that were obviously made for that. Then they flew to the arena.
