Chapter 10 New heights
Chapter 10 New Heights
"Time to wake up!" Ginger exclaimed. Tarra yawned, scratching her cheek. She stretched and bounded up. Charm was slowly waking up and Nia was still sleeping. "What's got you so full of pep?" Ginger asked Tarra.
"Well I didn't have Charm in me last night." Tarra explained.
"Does that mean what I think it means?" Ginger asked. "Because I think it means that Charm has more than one mate now."
"Then you think right." Charm yawned.
"Then you have a benefit of being immune to poison." Ginger said. "When a Pokémon has sex with a poison type they gain immunity to poison."
"That's good..." Charm muttered. "Nia, it's time to wake up." He shook her gently. She opened her eyes cautiously, looking confused for a moment.
"Where am I?" She asked herself out loud. Then she remembered. "Oh yeah, now I remember..." she blushed, embarrassed. "What are we doing today?"
"Working." Tarra replied. "We do this every day."
"Not every day." Ginger said. "On Sundays you get a brake, but the rest of the week is work."
"Oh joy." Nia mumbled.
"Let's look forward to another good day of exploring!" Charm exclaimed. He and Nia walked out of the room, leaving ginger and Tarra alone.
"Hey, ginger, Can I ask you something?" Tarra said.
"Of course."
"Did you ever have a mate before?" Tarra asked.
"Tarra! That's personal!" Tarra blushed, looking down. "But I guess I can answer it. I've had a couple of mates, but none of them lasted long. I haven't had a mate since I stopped being an explorer though. Hopefully nothing will come between you and Charm though. I can tell he really loves you."
"Love-struck Charmander." Tarra giggled. "Why did you quit exploring?"
"That, I'll keep secret. Enough questions. I've got to wake up Kip."
"I'll do it." Tarra offered.
"Thank you." Ginger replied. They went out into the hall and went opposite ways. Tarra went to Kip's room. Inside she found the sleeping Kip. She snuck up on his slumbering form and pounced.
He yelped. Tarra laughed. "Hey, why did you do that?"
"Because it was funny." Tarra continued laughing. Kip pounced on her. They wrestled a few minutes before collapsing, exhausted. "We'd better get some breakfast before Charm eats it all." Tarra joked. Charm was one of the Pokémon that ate the least. Tarra was the one that always ate the most.
Kip nodded, following her to the mess hall, smelling the same weird scent on her that she had ever since she met Charm...
Ginger was looking through wonder mail as they ate, separating them into five piles.
"What are you doing Ginger?" Kip asked.
"Separating wonder mail by dungeon." Ginger replied, not looking up. "So far, I've only recorded this Guild getting wonder mail from five different dungeons. When a badge goes to a dungeon no other guild member has been to before, the guild starts getting mail from that dungeon."
"What are the dungeons we can get mail from right now?" Charm asked.
"Beach Cave, Drenched Bluff, Mt. Bristle, Lush Prairie, and Apple Woods." Ginger replied. "We should have more, much more. Waterfall Cave and Serenity River aren't even that far away."
"That's weird. Maybe we should go check it out." Charm offered.
"Absolutely not!" Ginger replied. "Not until I think you're ready. I might have let you go to Mt. Bristle but I will not let you go to either of those places yet. You two will only go to Mt. Bristle for now."
"But-" Tarra began.
"Tarra, don't argue with me." Ginger glared at her.
Tarra looked down. That was a surprise to everyone. Tarra normally never backed down from a fight.
"Tarra?" Charm asked, worried. "Are you okay?"
"Sure." She replied quietly.
"I think she's just sulking." Charm told to Ginger. "What's our assignment today?"
"Here." Ginger handed them three wonder mails for Mt. Bristle. "This will be harder this time. I'm sending you to the upper floors of Mt. Bristle."
"Upper floors?" Tarra, now remarkably done from sulking, asked.
"Mountains are high and hard to explore completely, so the badge does a remarkable job of splitting the mountain into floors depending on height. All you have to do is tell the badge to tell you what floor you're on."
"Okay, we'd better get to work." Charm stood up. "C'mon guys."
"It's just as we left it." Tarra said. They looked up at Mt. Bristle. "It looks the same."
"We're not here to sight see, Tarra." Nia said, starting to walk ahead.
"Hey! I lead." Charm joked. "I'm the one with the badge."
"But do you know this place like the back of your paw?" She asked seriously. "I've explored almost every nook and cranny on this mountain. I think I should lead. I can steer us around danger."
"She has a point." Tarra shrugged. "What's the first floor we need to get to?"
"Fifth floor."
"Awe, that sounds high up." Tarra complained.
"Let's get moving then." Charm suggested. Nia walked beside Charm as they headed up through the rocky maze. Although they avoided large nests, there was the occasional Spinarak to swat. Starly weren't much of a problem, they tended to stay in the air, hunting for exposed apples. When one landed on an apple that Tarra planned on eating, it wasn't pretty. Nia learned at that moment never to get between Tarra and food.
"Third floor!" Charm announced. They continued walking. Charm had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach as they stepped over craggy rocks. It was a feeling that showed that there was danger. "I have a bad feeling guys." He announced, looking around for anything dangerous.
"What is it?" Nia asked, concerned.
"I don't know. I just feel like we're walking into a trap or something." Charm answered.
"Well, I don't see anything weird." Tarra said, walking ahead, jumping from rock to rock until one moved underneath her. She screamed as it rose in the air, revealing eyes and a mouth. "Geodude!" She shrieked. Other rocks lifted into the air as well.
"Tarra, use your attacks!" Charm yelled as a Geodude tacked him. He pushed it away as Tarra began to soak EVERYTHING nearby, panicking without Charm. As a Geodude launched itself at Nia, she rammed it with her horn. It hurt, but the Geodude would be hurt more.
One Geodude that hurled itself at Charm was in for a surprise. Charm jumped onto it, almost losing his balance, and jumped off, kicking it at another. Charm knew that they couldn't keep fighting the rock types forever, though, so he used Smokescreen after memorizing where Tarra and Nia were. As soon as that was done, he opened his mouth and smoke engulfed his surroundings like Tarra did his cock.
He carefully to his teammates and guided them to safety out of the smoke cloud. They were all coughing, but Charm was affected the most. The smoke had come out of his mouth and had covered everything in soot, nearly choking him as he rescued his friends. He used Tarra as a makeshift crutch and they continued walking away from the smoke until they could barely see it. They rested, giving Charm a chance to catch his breath.
"I hate that move." He spat on the ground, his spit coming out gray. He tried eating an apple, but it wasn't too appetizing tasting something sweet with the horrible taste of ashes in his mouth. When he was finally suitable to continue, he checked the badge. "We're on the forth floor girls!"
"Great!" Tarra jumped into the air happily. Charm smiled.
"We're not out of the woods yet. Let's go." They kept a watchful eye out for more strange looking rocks, but saw none on their way to the fifth floor.
"The badge is glowing!" Charm exclaimed. "We have to be on a lookout for a Spheal." Charm looked around. Nia climbed up onto a pile of rocks and looked in all directions, seeing nothing. With no other way to find the Spheal, Charm turned to the badge for directions and they headed in the direction the badge glowed brightest. They ran into a flock of Starly picking at the remains of something, but they were more concerned with the dead than the living.
"I hope we're not next." Nia shivered.
"We won't be." Tarra smiled. "I'll protect us." She walked faster than normal, overcoming the two of them.
"Yay, we have a big tadpole to protect us." Charm said sarcastically, grinning at his mate.
"Yeah well you're a big lizard. Since when does a lizard let a tadpole give him a blowjob?" she smiled.
"Guys can we discuss this later?" Nia interrupted. "I'd rather not have a wild Pokémon hear us."
They finally found the Spheal with a large gash in his head, fainted on the rocks with a flock of Starly waiting to pick his flesh off his bones. Charm quickly sent him home and the Starly flew away angrily. "The next client is on floor seven."
"That sounds doable." Tarra said. "Look at how far up we are already."
They turned around and looked at the beauty of Mt. Bristle's stunning view.
"We're not here to sight see." Charm interrupted the view. "As much as I'd like to be a tourist, I can't let us slack off. We have to get moving."
"Fine, Mr. Bossy." Tarra teased.
"You might want to be careful Tarra." Nia played along. "Next time he has you in a compromising position, he might not be so easy on you."
"I've felt pain of rape before. There is only one thing that he could do that would hurt me."
"What's that?"
"Break my heart." Tarra was serious with that answer and everyone knew it.
"You know that I'll never do that." Charm declared. "I know what you've been through and if I could have protected you somehow I would have. I will never betray you."
"What floor are we on now Charm?" Nia asked, stopping the conversation.
"Sixth, one more floor." They continued walking until they ran into trouble. Trouble was referring to a Machop. The Machop obviously didn't like seeing them, so it attacked. Charm was closest to it and saw its attack coming, jumping over a low kick and delivering one of his own to the Machop's face. The others were content with letting him do the work, watching him dodge punches. Charm was alright for awhile until a punch actually connected with his chest, knocking him down. Luckily his scales acted as armor. When the Machop had punched him, the tips of his scales had scratched its hand.
As it was groaning in pain, Charm kicked its legs out from underneath it, causing it to crash to the ground. Charm used Ember to damage it further. Before he could attack again, Tarra used Mud Slap to finish it off for him.
"We should get going, there's bound to be more where that came from." They walked quicker up the mountain for awhile until Charm saw the badge glowing. "I guess we're on floor seven now." They made their way toward the client, following the direction the badge shone brightest. Finally, they came across a tattered Oddish. Without saying a word to it, Charm tapped it with the badge and it was whisked away back to the guild.
"Now there's just one client left. We need to go to the ninth floor now." They resumed walking, running into a few stray Geodude now and then. Starly no longer flew above them as they reached higher and higher parts of the mountain. Charm found it harder to breath with the lessened oxygen and the flame on his tail reduced in size. Charm knew that even if it did go out, he wouldn't die. It wasn't his life in flame form. It was only a measure of health.
"Are we there yet?" Tarra asked in a breathless and annoyed tone.
"Are you trying to be annoying?" Nia asked.
"No, but if you find it annoying then it's your fault." Tarra responded.
"Yeah she's trying to be annoying." Nia muttered to herself. Conversations like that continued to happen as the thinning oxygen played with their nerves.
When they finally reached the ninth floor and the badge started glowing, Charm couldn't stand Tarra and Nia's bickering, but he managed to keep his temper in check. "How's everyone doing?" He asked the two of them.
"I hate hiking." Tarra replied.
"I'm fine, unlike a certain Mudkip around here." Nia muttered under her breath.
After those replies, Charm was finding it hard to stay cheerful, but knowing that the last client was close was helping. He followed the badge's brightest shine and was soon on his way toward the client with his mates trailing behind him. Finally they reached the last client. It was a Butterfree. It was also fainted. Charm was relieved to finally send the last client home. After teleporting back to the guild, team bravery met all of the clients that they had saved.
The Spheal was fully healed. There was no evidence that there was once a large cut in its forehead. "I can't thank you enough." He said. "I don't even have a way to reward you."
"We don't need a reward." Tarra said.
"We just want to help." Nia added. After getting off the top of the mountain, Tarra and Nia were less finicky.
"If there's anything I could do, just ask." The Spheal said before waddling up the stairs and out of the guild.
Next was the Oddish. It had just as much to offer as the Spheal, same with the Butterfree. After both left, Tarra collapsed into a sitting position. "I hate that place almost as much as Drenched Bluff." She sighed.
Charm laughed at the discouraged Mudkip. He kissed her forehead softly. "You should exercise more often so you can get the stamina you have at night."
"There isn't room for that much stamina." She joked.
"You're probably right." Charm replied.
"What is she right about?" Kip asked as he trotted up the stairs and into the plaza.
"Nothing." Charm said quickly.
"Exploring is fun." Kip said as he trotted over to them. "I can see why you guys started it."
"We didn't start it, we just restarted it." Tarra replied.
"Well I'm glad you did." Kip said. "Oh, and I got a new member for my team. She's a Vulpix named Ember. She came by earlier, wanting to join the guild. I needed another member so she joined my team. She's downstairs with Ginger right now."
"That's great!" Charm exclaimed. "Do you have a team name yet?"
"Not yet. We haven't decided. Do you want to meet her?"
"Why not?" Nia replied.
They walked down to the lower plaza and saw a Vulpix, presumably Ember, and Ginger. Ember had her back facing them. Ginger waved to them and Ember turned around, spotting team Bravery along with her new teammate. Tarra ran over to the newest member of the guild and introduced herself.
"I'm Tarra." She smiled.
"I'm Ember." The Vulpix replied shyly. "You're a Guildmaster?"
"The only thing that says that is a sign hanging in the entrance. Charm is better suited for that title." Charm, Nia and Kip arrived next to Tarra.
"I'm Charm." Charm introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Ember."
"My name's Nia." Nia stepped up. "I used to be the newest member."
"Did you guys just get back?" Ginger asked.
"Yup." Tarra replied. "We didn't have a problem this time."
"Good. Tarra, you're good at naming things. What should Kip's team name be?"
She sat down again, thinking. When she arrived at a name, she stood up. "at first I thought about how you two are both four legged animals and thought that a name about that would be good, but then I remembered how both of you came to the guild instead of the guild coming to you. I thought that that was special so I think your name should be Team Charity."
"I like it." Kip said, looking to Ember for a second opinion.
"I do, too." She said. "Thanks for the name."
"I should think of names for a living." Tarra joked.
"You've already got a job." Charm said.
"I can handle two." Tarra insisted.
"Sure you can." Charm replied sarcastically. He turned to Ember. "It was nice meeting you." He said. "C'mon Tarra, we've got to get to Kangaskhan Storage."Chapter End Notes:It's great to upload something again. I finished it just in time, too. I lost my D.S. recently and without it, I doubt that I could've written this story. anyway, reviews are accepted.
(P.s. The guild member contest is still on and Ember was NOT submitted by someone else. she was my own idea.

(P.s. The guild member contest is still on and Ember was NOT submitted by someone else. she was my own idea.
