Chapter 12 Brain Freeze
Chapter 12 Brain Freeze
Charm stared at the Glaceon sitting on his chest blankly. "Do I know you?" Charm asked.
"What do you mean, do you know me?" She smiled. "You can't possibly tell me that you'd forget your mate." She nuzzled his shocked face, her cold cheek contradicting with his warm cheek pleasurably. A migraine suddenly split his head as he remembered something.
"Jill?" Charm stared at her. "Jill!" He bounced up, catching her before she even touched the ground and pulling her into a hug.
"still as fast and strong as ever I see." She giggled, frost spraying out of her mouth unintentionally. "What happened to you? One minute your by my side, the next you're gone."
"I can't remember." He set her down, remembering his new life. "I-I have amnesia. You're the first thing I have ever remembered." He looked at her shocked expression, wondering how to tell his first mate about his...
"you don't remember anything?" Jill asked.
"no."
"not even when we met?" Jill asked, heart broken. Charm knew she was hurting, and that would only worsen when she found about Tarra. Charm also knew how hard Tarra would be hit.
"Jill, I have something to tell you." Before he could continue, he heard Tarra's voice calling to him.
"Charm! Who's at the door?" She sang.
"Who's that?" Jill asked, moving toward the stairs.
"That's what I've been meaning to tell you." Charm said, moving in between her and the stairs. She continued walking forward so he backed up to compensate. "I know how you'll feel, but you have to understand when I say that I still love you just as much as I did before."
By the end of the sentence, Tarra had finished walking up the stairs and had heard what he had said. "What?!?" Tarra yelped frantically
"Tarra, I-"
"Who's she?" Jill cut him off.
"She's-"
"My name is Tarra who are you?" She glared at Jill.
"I'm Jill, Charm's mate." Jill glared back.
"oh boy." Charm sighed, sitting down, knowing that this could take awhile and that most facts would come out by themselves.
"You are as much Charm's mate as you are warm! I am Charm's true love."
"And how long have you known him? A month? I've known him for nearly a year!"
"I've only known him for a week and that's plenty long enough for him to tell me he'd never leave me!"
"Seven days? He's been telling me that for 365! He loves me more than some fish that can barely stand."
"and who are you to talk? You're just a popsicle!"
"Who is she?" Ginger asked. Charm jumped. He hadn't heard her come up the stairs.
"Her name is Jill and I have a big problem."
"It can't be that big." Ginger smiled, confidently.
"Jill's my old mate."
"oh..." The smile fell off of Gingers face like water on plastic. "You do have a big problem." She watched the two fight more, sitting down next to him.
"how long have we been sitting here?" Ginger asked, bored out of her wits.
"about ten minutes." Charm replied. He stood up. "STOP!!!" He yelled. Jill and Tarra looked at him. "Enough fighting. I know that both of you love me, but I can't stand you two fighting. I still love each of you."
"But which of us do you love more?" Jill and Tarra asked at the same time, growling at each other afterward.
"I don't know! I love you both, isn't that enough?"
Tarra was okay with sharing Charm with Nia but with Jill, she didn't like.
"C'mon, Charm, remember when-"
"No he doesn't." Tarra interrupted Jill. "You remember me, don't you? You only remember me."
"Tarra, I might remember you more than Jill, but I know that I love Jill just as deeply as you."
"Deeper." Jill added.
"okay, both of you! Stop fighting long enough so I can find out why I was found on the beech. Get it?" they both nodded, still angry, but cooperative.
"first I should start with what you were before you met me. before you met me, you were the prince of your tribe." Tarra, Ginger and Charm gasped. "You were trained all your life to be a great fighter."
"So that's where my strength and reflexes come from."
Jill nodded. "when I was little I was caged by Pokémon much bigger than me. they brought me to a mountain and climbed to the top. once we were there, they threw me into the snow and told me to touch a weird ice spike. After I did I became what I am now. They carted me everywhere, showing me to tribes of Pokémon as an exotic Pokémon in an attempt to make poke."
Tarra thought she had seen Pokémon bigger than her with a cage with something with light blue fur inside it a long time ago when she was with her tribe but kept it to herself.
"When they took me to your tribe,"
"I was so outraged by the state you were in I told the guards to free you." Charm finished, rubbing his head.
"And when that didn't work, you beat the Pokémon up and freed me."
"I remember I visited you in the hospital while they treated whatever wounds you might have had. I fell in love with you, but taking on a different species as a mate was forbidden. So I gave the position of prince to my brother and asked you to be my mate." Charm said. "I still can't remember what we did or where we went though."
Jill smiled. "next is the best part. The day after we left your clan, we spent the night in an Oran orchard. That was the night that I asked you to take me." She smiled, remembering the pleasant memories. "You were so gentle on me, that I knew you were focusing more on me than yourself so, I kissed you and told you to relax." She sighed, a cloud of frost coming from her mouth. "You told me right then and there that you would always love me."
"He also said he'd always love me." Tarra said with pride in her voice.
"Anyway," jill continued, "we went all over the place. The time I lost you, we were walking through a forest. It was just weird. I heard a noise, turned to look at it but nothing was there, and when I looked back you were nowhere in sight."
"I can't remember what happened." Charm thought hard. "I can't remember a thing about it."
"that was a month ago." Jill stated.
"But I was found a week ago."
"so what happened in those three extra weeks?" Jill asked herself.
"What three extra weeks?" Kip asked, coming up the stairs with Ember. "Who are you?"
"I'm Jill. I'm Charm's real mate." She said, sticking her tongue out at Tarra.
Tarra didn't care if Kip and Ember were there. "You are not!" Tarra was balancing on the edge of attacking Jill and starting to cry as her world fell apart. She was more likely to fall off the attacking side.
"So you already have a mate?" Ember asked Charm. "How come I haven't heard of her?"
"because I lost my memory." Charm answered. "And now that my old mate showed up..."
"Tarra's jealous." Ember finished. "I kind of figured you two were mates."
Kip stayed quiet.
"We're still friends, Kip." Charm told him. "Tarra is still your friend, too."
All the while they were talking; Tarra and Jill were getting more and more on each other's nerves, arguing over Charm.
"Charm, sorry to interrupt your explanation to them," Ginger said, "but I think you'd better calm them down before the guild is destroyed."
"You're right." Charm replied. He stepped in between the arguing girls and told both of them to stop fighting.
"C'mon Charm, we've got work to do." Tarra said, referring to their guild duties. "unlike Jill, we're part of a guild."
"I know Charm is caring which is why I thought of looking for him at the guild. He always helped Pokémon in need." Jill said. "C'mon Charm, we can go all alone." She offered.
"I need some air." Charm broke out of the guild, telling Ginger to make sure both of his mates would still be alive when he returned.
Tarra decided to get away from the threat to her happiness by going deeper into the guild. Unfortunately (for her) ginger invited Jill for a quick breakfast. Tarra stayed on the upper plaza while Jill was in the mess hall on the floor below. She sighed, leaning against the wall. Now that Charm might leave her, she really realized how important he was to her. She remembered how, when he was taunted by Lunar in town, he stepped in front of her to protect her from the threat. He really did care for her, but was it more than he loved Jill?
"What are you thinking about?" Ember asked. Tarra jumped. She was so kept up in her thoughts, she hadn't noticed Ember when she was directly in front of her.
"how much I'll miss charm if he chooses that block of ice over me." Tarra cried.
"I know how that would feel. I know how I would feel if I lost Kip." Ember sighed, not realizing that she had told Tarra something she shouldn't have. Kip was still deliberating whether or not to tell her.
"so you and Kip are a couple. I didn't think he'd get a girl so soon." Tarra remarked, trying not to think about Jill.
"He's pretty sweet." She blushed. "and nice."
"So is Charm. Charm would risk his life for me... or her maybe." Tarra stated, purposely not specifying who 'her' was.
"I should really get going. Kip's waiting for me to join him at Beech Cave." Ember said, walking up the steps, leaving Tarra alone with her thoughts.
When Jill finished breakfast, she was going to see if Charm was back yet when she saw Tarra. Her stomach lurched. If Charm had chosen her as a mate, she had to be special. When he was prince, she knew he never chose one of the adoring Charmander fems, so what made this Mudkip so special?
"Hey Tarra..." Jill started, wanting to talk to Charm's new mate. Tarra just turned her head away. "I just want to talk." Tarra got up and walked across the room.
"Just stop acting like a conceited brat who's gotten everything she ever asked for in life and listen to me." Jill said, following her.
"Charm is the only thing that I've ever gotten that I ever wanted." Tarra glared at her. "And you are not going to take him from me."
"You've had a better life than me." Jill countered. "I was mistreated and abused before Charm freed me."
"HA!!" Tarra exclaimed. "I didn't always live in Treasure Town. If you think your life was a living hell, what would you call being used as a slut since birth?" Jill gawked.
"You were a...?" Jill stammered a bit. "I-I'm sorry." She looked down, her ears drooping.
"It's okay now. Charm sure seems to enjoy my talents." Tarra giggled, forgetting for instant that it was Jill she was talking to.
"You don't act like a slut." Jill said.
"I only act like that when we... well you know. After being raped for most of my life, wanting sex turns me into a real slut."
"It's kind of ironic how Charm chose another Pokémon that had a bad past." Jill stated.
"weird." Tarra agreed. It seemed as if they were acting less like mortal enemies and more like friends. 'how did that happen?' Tarra asked herself. "I don't know about you, but I don't mind sharing Charm with another woman."
"I guess I could make do."
"I should probably mention that Charm doesn't only have me and you as a mate." Jill looked at Tarra quizzically. "You know how Charm hates to disappoint Pokémon. After a Nidoran, Nia, joined our team, she got cozy with Charm. I didn't mind sharing, because... well you know why. He obviously doesn't love her as much as you or me, though."
"I guess I can be okay with that." Jill smiled. It did sound like Charm's behavior. "I hope that he can remember our real first someday, though."
When Charm came back and the guild was still in one piece he breathed a sigh of relief. He stepped inside. It was quiet, way too quiet. As he walked down the stairs to the upper plaza, he thought he could hear voices. The voices became more distinct as he walked further down until he reached the bottom. He saw that Jill and Tarra were talking, not arguing. Charm couldn't believe that they weren't arguing.
"Hi Charm!" Jill and Tarra greeted together. They walked over to him, both smiling.
"When I left here, you guys were ready to rip each others heads off."
"Yeah." Tarra giggled. "But we talked..."
"and I really don't mind sharing you... at least not much." Jill finished.
"So tonight..." Tarra giggled more.
"I'm glad you two are good and everything, but I'm pretty sure that I can't handle three girls every night." Charm acknowledged. "Not that I don't want to of course." He smiled.
"Well tonight is my turn." Jill flirted. "I haven't had sex with you in awhile. I can't wait to be melted from the inside out by you again. I guess that being your teammate will have its advantages."
"So you're part of the team?"
"I can't stay back here and be out done by Tarra!" Jill replied.
"I'm going to ignore that." Tarra remarked.
"So am I doing you solely tonight?" Charm asked Jill.
"Ye-" Jill was interrupted.
"You're not getting off that lucky." Tarra cut in.Chapter End Notes:I've got to be honest, when I started this story, I thought that this moment would be far off in the future, but it's only been a month since I've uploaded it! I hope you guys enjoyed the month anniversary present. reviews welcome.
