Chapter 2 the Research
Thash sighed as he looked over the book's text, his gaze occasionally going to Lizzie as if they didn't believe what had happened the day before. She had her nose buried in a book as well. If she didn't she would look very out of place in the library. She looked about as bored as I did. Our eyes met and she put the book down. "I don't think that there's any ranger in history that could capture humans." She whispered. "You're one of a kind."
"There's got to be someone!" Thash said a bit too loud, getting hushed by everyone around him. "Prof. Hastings invented the Styler 70 years ago."
"Even so, I don't think we'll find it anywhere in these books, their history themselves." She whapped the book shut, causing a cloud of dust to wisp out of the pages. "Besides, would you like to tell someone how you discovered your ability?"
Thash blushed and looked away. He was avoiding answering the question and avoiding her seductive look at the same time.
"My point exactly." She looked around. "Now that we know that you're alone, it's time to find out whether it's you or the styler that can capture humans."
"Okay, I'm ready!" Thash exclaimed a bit more enthusiastically than he was. Lizzie and He were in assention square again, and Lizzie was the one with his styler. Lizzie shot the spinning top at him and it circled him. He felt nothing whatsoever sweep through his body like Lizzie said would happen. "I don't feel anything."
"Then it's my turn!" She said a bit too enthusiastically. Did she want to be captured? Thash was already equipped with her styler so when his styler returned to its dock (the part still in her hand) he shot her styler at her. it looped around her, transmitting his feeling into her until it came back to him, signifying a capture. "I've caught you!" He said. "But you probably know that by now." He looked into her blank, blue eyes and shivered. "Act as yourself."
She blinked and shook her head then looked to him. "See! You are special. You captured me with my styler!"
"I still have you captured. I only told you to act as yourself."
"No you didn't!" She smiled. "Nice try."
"Slap yourself."
She suddenly slapped herself hard. "OW!!!" She cried. "Of all the things you could've told me to do, you chose that one." she rubbed her cheek in pain.
"I didn't think you'd slap yourself too hard." He replied with a bit of sadness in his voice.
"What are you going to make me do now?" She asked worriedly.
"Nothing, I'm releasing you."
"so does that mean I don't need to obey you anymore?"
"I don't know. Fall backwards." Lizzie closed her eyes but nothing happened. she looked at him with an annoyed expression.
"You wouldn't be smiling if it was you in my position!" She pounced on him, both of them falling into the soft grass. She sat on his stomach, laughing. She knocked the styler out of his hand quickly. "Ha! Can't capture me now!"
"Get off of me!" He puffed, trying to lift her up.
"hmm. Let me think... no!" she bounced on his stomach ounce. She laughed more as he caught his breath. He tried to roll out from under her, but he found she followed him and bounce on him again for each attempt of escape.
"Okay I give up!"
"You're not getting out of this that easily. C'mon ranger boy, get me off."
"If you insist." He held a green object in his hand. Lizzie gasped. She had forgotten that she put his styler in the pouch on her jeans, easily reachable by Thash. She tried to grab it out of his hand, but she was too late. He twisted her off of him as the styler that he had shot wrapped around its target.
"Oh come on!" Lizzie complained as she felt her control slipping away. She would have to act fast if she was going to stay under control. She leaped at Thash, snagging his legs and pulling hard. Thash fell but not backwards. He fell forward onto Lizzie who cried out in surprise and pain. The styler returned to the dock at Thash's command. Thash rolled off of his friend, and sat up. He looked at her. He blushed as his gaze met her butt. She rolled over and sat up. She laughed. "I won't do that again. What's wrong?"
"nothing." He said quickly. He smiled his best. "Let's go back okay?"
"Geez, I trip you ounce and you want to go back. Who are you and what have you done with Thash?"
"Stop it Lizzie, I'm just not in the mood." He stood up and offered his hand to her. she took it.
She leaned in close to him and spoke softly. "So what mood are you in?" she smiled and started walking toward the school. Thash quickly followed her, forcing himself not to look at her waste. He didn't want to view his best friend that way.
"What's up with you?" She looked back at him. "You're usually happy and talkative as we walk."
"Nothing is wrong... uh... I'm only surprised that I'm the only human ever to capture another human.
"I can handle the truth."
She might but I can't. he thought. He didn't answer.
"C'mon you never hid a secret from me before." He only blushed harder. "Fine come to me when you're ready to tell me." she pouted all the way to the school.
Dear Thash, Please tell me!! From Lizzie
Thash scowled and crumpled the note. For three days Lizzie was bothering him about his secret. Whenever he tried to talk to her, all she'd say was "Will you tell me now?" IT WAS DRIVING HIM INSANE!!! Why was she so persistant? He hadn't realized how dependant he was on her to get his mind out of the storm that was school, but lately, she was on his mind more often than not. Eventually he'd have to tell her that he was starting to get feelings for her but how?Chapter End Notes:I know it's a short chapter, but I couldn't wait. anyway, I hope you enjoyed it despite its small size. quality over quantity as they say. Reviews are welcome. (please no comments on the size. next chapter will be bigger, I promise.
