Story Notes:

Unfortunately, due to the level of stress that this has been putting on me, I am sorry to say that I will not be taking any more requests, and Little Legends will remain unfinished unless I am miraculously able to quickly write it without stress. I am terribly sorry for this, but who knows, maybe once my own story is complete I'll be able to handle taking your requests again. Feel free to take a look into my story, Isaac and Maria, though. And if you are following my story already, please know that you will want to look into Seikiru's story, Salaceon Tales. There is stuff that happens in that story that you will need to know for the future in my story.Disclaimer: We do not own the rights to Pokemon, its characters, plot, etc. Those rights are owned by Nintendo, GAME FREAK inc., Satoshi Tajiri, and any of the other creators of the games/anime I forgot to mention. Icy Flames Pt.1

"Come on Glacier, we're almost to the exit! Hurry up!"

A female Flareon was running happily through Mt. Coronet's northern passage with Glacier, a male Glaceon, struggling to keep up.

"Sun... slow down... a little," the Glaceon managed to say, in between gasps for air. Sun was always energetic when the two of them went somewhere she had never been before, but never like this.

At the start of their trip, Glacier had been the one leading Sun to Lake Acuity to visit his old home. But now it seemed like Sun was the leader, even though she had no idea where she was going. Sun had turned there trip into a race to the finish. Glacier had to stop her several times to point out the correct path through Mt. Coronet.

When Sun made it to the exit leading to route 216, she finally stopped running and waited for Glacier to catch up. "Alright, you win," he said as he sat down next to her. He knew if he didn't admit defeat, Sun would just keep racing him like this until he did.

"I know," she said with an cute, innocent look on her face, "So, how much farther until we get to the lake?"
"Well, the exit here marks the halfway point," Glacier responded.
"We're only halfway there?" Sun asked with a groan.
"Yeah, but at least the rest of the way isn't a labyrinth like it is here."

"Well then, lets get going!" Sun said happily as she stood up.
"Can we walk the rest of the way, Sun?" asked Glacier, exhausted from their race through Mt. Coronet. "Alright," she said, disappointed. As the two of them left the passage, there was an immediate temperature difference, which was normal considering that it was always snowing on route 216. The cold was barely noticeable to an Ice type or a Fire type, though.

Sun was amazed at the sight before her. Snow as far as the eye can see, covering the ground and the tops of the trees, sparkling from the light that managed to push through the clouds. Sun had never seen anything like it before, having lived most of her life in places that didn't get snow. To her, it looked as if one of the greatest artists in the world had painted this and then brought it into reality.

"Its beautiful!" she said after five minutes of taking in the scenery.
Glacier turned towards her. "Don't get used to it just yet. Once we pass the bridge, the snow will start to fall a lot harder."

Sun came out of her state of amazement and stared at Glacier with a playful, angry look on her face. "Why did you have to ruin it!" she said while attempting to bat his head with her paw. Glacier ducked to avoid it. "I'm just saying," he said, innocently.

The two started down the path that would eventually lead to Lake Acuity. The path was filled with trainers either already battling, or waiting for a passerby to challenge. Sun and Glacier tried to not draw too much attention to themselves. After all, it's not everyday that you see a Flareon or a Glaceon in the wild. The trainers that did see them were kind enough to let them be, as they saw that Sun and Glacier had more important things to do than become new additions to somebody's team.

As the two of them walked, Glacier noticed that Sun was staring at the ground, deep in thought. So deep in thought, that she didn't notice the tree straight in front of her.

"Sun?" he said as more of a warning than a question.
"Hm?" said Sun as she looked up and stopped just before bumping into the tree. She walked around it and continued on next to Glacier.
"What's on your mind?" asked the concerned Glaceon.
"Oh... its nothing," Sun explained. Glacier had never seen her like this before. The two of them had been friends ever since they met, and she was always happy and full of energy.

"Look, its not like the weather past the bridge is going to be at the lake. As soon as we get past the bad weather, it turns back into what it's like here," Glacier explained. He saw the bridge up ahead. Sun shook her head, "No it's not that, it's just..." She looked at him and then to the ground. A blush was noticeable even through the red fur on her face. Sun finally looked up again after a few minutes. "Umm... this might seem a little weird, but... have you ever... been with anyone?"
Glacier was a little confused. "What do you mean?" he asked as they started crossing the bridge.

"I mean, have you ever been with someone as... a mate?" asked Sun.

Glacier almost stopped walking at this question. "No, I haven't. Why do you ask?" But before Sun could answer, his left paw got stuck in between two of the boards and he fell forward. When he landed, there was an audible crack. Glacier yelped in pain. "Glacier!" yelled Sun, as she ran back to help him.

"That one hurt," he said, trying to distract himself from the pain with a little humor. Glacier finally freed his paw from between the boards and checked to see if anything was broken.
Sun was really worried. "Are you okay? That looks pretty bad."
"No, it-it's okay, I-I'm fine!" he stuttered, "Nothings broken, I just... twisted it, that's all."
Sun gave him a questioning look. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I think I can still walk on it." Glacier put a little weight on it and winced in pain before his leg gave out.

Sun caught him so that he was lying on her back facing sideways. "That's what I thought. I'll carry you to a safer place than on this bridge."

Sun carried Glacier to a tree far away from the bridge. She noticed that what he had said about the weather was true. As she walked further from the bridge, the snow was falling harder. She set Glacier down underneath the snow-covered tree. "I guess we'll rest here for a while," she said, sitting down next to him. "Thank you, Sun," Glacier told her.
"Oh, you don't have to thank me!" she said with a smile. Glacier liked the way her smile looked. He thought that it made her look cute.

Sun noticed Glacier staring at her. She immediately got a blush on her face and turned her head toward the ground, still looking at him. "What?" she asked. Glacier shook his head. "I was just thinking about how when you smile, you... you look..." He was unable to speak his mind for some reason. Sun was growing impatient. "I look...?"
"...really cute," Glacier finished, face red with embarrassment.
Sun blushed even harder at this. She didn't know what to say. She was overcome by a sudden wave of dizziness. When she recovered, she looked at Glacier and said, "Thank you." The two of them locked eyes for what seemed to be an eternity. They felt themselves start to lean toward each other, not really knowing what was happening. They were caught in a haze. They could feel each other's breath as they exhaled, and...

"Awww... What a cute couple."

The eerie voice mocking Sun and Glacier came from 10 feet in front of them. They looked up to see a person tossing a pokeball in the air over and over again. Great. Just what they needed, a trainer that wants to capture them. This one seemed different, though. She wore a black and white uniform that was skin tight. On the front of the uniform, a bright yellow G was visible. The trainer's eyes were the same shade of purple as her hair, which was wrapped into a bun at the back and into another near the top of her head. Overall she seemed very sinister.

"A Flareon would be the perfect Pokemon to add to my team, (I might even be able to beat that brat that made a fool of me at the Eterna base), but I'd hate to separate you two love birds." She laughed as she finished. "I know! I'll just capture both of you!"

Glacier was growling at the stranger with a snarl on his face. He tried to stand up, but fell over again as pain shot through his paw once again. Sun stepped in front of him. "You're in no condition to fight, Glacier! Let me handle this!" she said over her shoulder. Sun turned back to her opponent and took on a battle stance. The sinister trainer merely laughed at her actions. "Hmm, that's strange," she said with a smirk, "I thought that the male was supposed to protect the female. Not that it matters, either way I'm still capturing both of you. Think fast!" The trainer threw the pokeball. Sun knocked it away with a light Flamethrower attack.

"So, you're not going down without a fight, huh? Well, we can do this the easy way..." The trainer pulled out three more pokeballs and tossed them into the air. There were three flashes of light, and now Sun was staring at her new opponents, which appeared to be far stronger than anything she had ever faced. Now standing in front of her were a Crobat, a Toxicroak, and a Skuntank, all of which looked ready to kill anyone who opposed them. "...or the hard way."

Sun resumed her battle stance and began charging another Flamethrower. "Very well. Crobat, Air Slash!" The Crobat began flapping its wings faster and launched the attack. Sun managed to dodge, but didn't notice the Toxicroak on her right, which hit her with a Poison Jab. Sun stumbled, but regained balance just in time to receive a Take Down attack from the Skuntank. Sun's three opponents positioned themselves in a triangular formation around her. There was no way out. If she went after one of them, the other two would just attack her before she got the chance. If she tried to escape, all three would charge her at once.

There was only one thing she could think of. Sun jumped into the air and used Fire Spin directly at the ground. The flames spread out and trapped all three Pokemon in the vortex. Sun landed outside of the flames, panting. "I don't get it. They only got two hits in, and they didn't do very much damage to me," she said to herself, "So, why do I feel so weak? Wait a minute! The Poison Jab!" Her thoughts were confirmed, as she felt herself slowly getting weaker with each passing moment. Sun looked up as the flames cleared. A look of fear slowly appeared on her face. All three of her opponents were still standing, completely unfazed by the attack.
"They... they're not damaged at all!"

The Toxicroak, who was the closest to her, brought its arm in front of it and gave the "come on/bring it" gesture. Now Sun was mad. She readied a Fire Blast, charging it to maximum power, and fired it at the Toxicroak. The flames enveloped it, but with a wave of its arm, they dissipated. Sun was now frozen with fear.

"But... I put everything I had into that attack!" she exclaimed. The trainer smirked and said, "I can see by expression on your face that you've realized you can't win. Oh, and it looks like the effects of the poison are starting to get to you. Why don't you just give up already?" She pulled another pokeball out. The other three Pokemon were staring at Sun.
"Don't you want to be stronger?" said the Crobat.
"Jupiter will make sure that you become as strong as we are," said the Skuntank, "She is one of Team Galactic's commanders, after all."
Sun shook her head. "I don't care! I won't join you!"

She tried to escape with a Quick Attack, but the Toxicroak grabbed her by the tail and lifted her up. "I'm afraid you don't have a choice," it said as Sun tried to use a Flamethrower. She was too weak to generate enough power, and the attack fizzled out before she even launched it. Glacier had seen enough. He had to do something before it was too late. He got up, ignoring the immense pain in his paw, and began running toward them. Jupiter threw the pokeball. "You're mine, Flareon!"

"NO!!!"

Glacier used a Quick Attack and jumped, slamming directly into the Toxicroak's head. The impact sent it quite a ways and caused it to lose its grip on Sun's tail. Sun skidded to a halt just in time to watch Glacier be captured by the pokeball. It landed on the ground and the button started flashing red. It wiggled a few times before the red light went out, and the ball lay there motionless. Jupiter smiled. "At least I caught one of them with it. And now to capture y-"

Before she could finish, the ball started wiggling again. Sparks began to zap in arcs on the surface. "What?!" said Jupiter. The ball opened up, releasing Glacier. He dashed away from it before it exploded, leaving a small crater in its place. Glacier stood in front of Sun, ready to protect her.

"Glacier..." She said, tears in her eyes.
"Don't worry, Sun, I won't let anything happen to you," he said without turning his head, not daring to take his eyes off his opponents.

"Great, now I only have one pokeball left!" Jupiter said, angrily, "Well, since you seem to be stronger than the Flareon, I guess I'll settle for you and kill her! Skuntank, use-"
Beep-beep-beep-beep

Jupiter sighed as she pulled out a communicator and held it to her ear.
"Jupiter here... Oh! Master Cyrus, I... No, I haven't made it to the lake yet... I know! But I was trying to capture-"
"I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WERE TRYING TO CAPTURE! IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR ASS TO LAKE ACUITY AND SECURE THE TARGET NOW, I WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY AGAIN!!! DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?!" Cyrus was yelling loud enough for even Glacier to hear.
"Yes sir, understood."

Jupiter put the communicator away. "Well, I guess it's your lucky day." She withdrew her team and stared at Glacier. "But if I ever find you two again, I WILL capture you!" She started walking away in the direction of the lake.

Glacier finally relaxed when Jupiter was far enough away. He turned back to Sun. "Are you okay?"
Sun was panting. "I'm not hurt, but that Toxicroak poisoned me. I don't know how much longer I can last."
Glacier remained calm, but was panicking on the inside. "Don't worry," he said, "I know a place where there's someone who can heal you." He was referring to the Pokemon Centers that they had seen in their travels. Glacier knew that there was one in the city by Lake Acuity. Sun stood up, ready to leave, and passed out almost immediately. "Sun?!" Glacier checked to make sure that she was okay. She was still breathing, but the poison was starting to take its toll. Glacier had to get her to the Center fast. Even if Sun survived the poison, there was still the storm that had turned into a blizzard. Though she was a Fire type, she was too weak right now to keep her body temperature up.

Glacier got Sun onto his back and made sure that she wouldn't fall off. "Hang in there, Sun, I won't let you die!" he thought. He took off with a Quick Attack. He had only gotten 10 feet before he collapsed again, his leg unable to stand the extra weight. "Come on, body! Don't give out on me now!" said Glacier. He picked Sun back up. He tried to run again when she was secure, but got the same results. Glacier was starting to get really irritated from this. "Rrrgghh! COME ON!!!" he shouted.

As Glacier stood back up, his injured leg shook violently. "I definitely can't run anymore," he thought, "But I can still walk. I just hope that I'll have enough time to get her to the Pokemon Center." He limped over to Sun and got her on his back, once again. As he carried her, he tried to avoid putting too much weight on his leg, but it didn't make a bit of difference. Any amount of pressure on his injury was still painful.

The blizzard wasn't helping things, either. Glacier was going against the wind as he carried Sun. But, slowly, the storm began to die down. "Got to... keep going," said Glacier, wincing at each surge of pain, "Almost... there..." He could see the city over the horizon. He was starting to sway as he walked. Glacier felt himself losing consciousness. "No... I can't...... give......... up............" Unable to stand to pain any longer, Glacier collapsed.

"I'm sorry, Sun," said Glacier, tears rolling down his face, "I couldn't do it. I let you down." The last thing Glacier saw was someone walking toward them before he fell unconscious.
