Story Notes:
Yeah. I'm back. So anyway, I haven't made a verdict on whether or not I will revive NTG. I have decided a few things about it though. First, this is only if I do decide to revive it, it will be an almost total rewrite. The whole past thing was stupid so that will be dropped. So that can be considered non canon. However, this story is canon on what is non canon. If that makes sense. If you wanna know what's going on, read NTG for all the failure that it is. The warnings and such may or may not change as the story goes (depends how I feel), I haven't mapped it all out yet. This story shows how the first trainer came to be, and highlights one of my personal favorite psychic type Pokemon, Xatu. Anyway, I hope you like my story.Hey disclaimer:Disclaimer: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners. Chapter 3
"I'm going to fly ahead and talk to the leaders so you don't get attacked in there." Nat said before gliding away over the tree tops.
"Yeah, I'll just climb down on my own then." Sara said to no one and began walking down the hill. There didn't seem to be any paths so the going was slow and difficult. After an hour she took a break on a sideways tree trunk, and looked back up. She sighed at the little progress she had made. After she caught her breath she continued, silently cursing Nat for leaving her there.
"Miss me?" came a voice in her head. She whipped around to see Nat standing there.
"How long have you been there?" She demanded
"Not long. The village elder wants to talk to you." Nat explained, bowing down so Sara could mount his back. She did reluctantly and they flew off, over the trees, and soon over some straw and twig mounds. After looking closer, Sara realized they were the homes of pokémon, judging by all the insects moving around them. "Over there." Nat gestured with his beak. Looking in that direction Sara saw a decent sized clearing with some well made structures. One looked like a tent, the other were a couple of large buildings.
As they got closer, Sara noticed a couple large pokémon standing there and she shrank back. She trusted Nat completely but other pokémon were a different story.
She fumbled out her threat guide and identified 'Blissy, Class D, and Alakazam Class A+'
(The + or - simply means the threat is simply greater or less then that class, but not within another class. Some classes do not have this, like Class E. In this case, A+ means that they should be avoided at all costs, and can easily wipe out an army. Nearly all legendaries are in this category. Arceus who does not appear in this story, and is not in the guide as no one had seen it until then and lived, would have received its own special A++ category: all powerful. Never engage or even look for.)
There were others, but she couldn't see them well enough. Nat touched down in the clearing and Sara eased herself of his back, trying to look smaller with all the eyes peering at her. Nat nudged her towards the Alakazam. A clearly aged creature, his fur was mostly grey, his moustache long ago turned white. Despite this, he was still an impressive figure, emanating strength.
"Hello there, young one." A calm voice entered her mind. It sounded old and wise, but she could innately sense the ancient power behind it. "You are the human Sara that the Xatu Nat spoke of, are you not?"
"Yes." Sara said quietly after a pause during which she composed herself.
"Do you know who I am?" The Alakazam asked.
"You're an Alakazam, the leader of this place?" Sara guessed.
"Correct. I would mention my name, but it is unimportant. So Alakazam will do. Now this is a very unusual occurrence. In fact I can only remember one other time it happened. Let's see that would have been about 437, good harvest that year as I recall, and."
"Blissy! Bliss, Blissy, Blissy" the Blissy said to the Alakazam.
"437! Sara thought. And this was 780."
"Sorry, I got sidetracked, that's what happens when you're my age. Anyway, I will allow you into our land, if you will allow me to read your mind. Just so I can read your intentions. I want to make absolutely certain you will not cause trouble. Though you're friend spoke highly of you and I doubt a Xatu would do something that would result in a negative future."
"It won't hurt will it?" Sara asked nervously.
"You may feel emotional discomfort as I search your memory, but it will cause you no physical harm."
"Okay." Sara agreed. Alakazam stretched a hand toward her and closed his eyes. In an instant the world around her vanished, replaced by an infinite amount of images. They rushed by her, memories of her life, things she had forgotten, or a dream or emotion. Then it was over. The world returned and now dizzy, she fell over but Nat caught her.
"Terribly sorry, I thought she would be able to stand it." Alakazam said. "But I scanned her whole mind and found no reason to mistrust her. You both may stay and live here as long as you wish."
"Yay..." Sara said weakly. The pokémon in the trees grumbled and walked off.
"Blis Bliss Blissy?" The Blissy said, her tone one of concern and confusion. Alakazam took her aside.
"Yes. Though ones that do wish us harm may follow her, but we should not get that in the way of helping an innocent child. They have very strong feelings for each other, even if they don't realize it. It will be interesting to see how their lives play out." He said quietly. Then he turned to Nat and Sara. "You may use the guest hut until you make your own house. And remember to keep one eye open."
Several days passed and Sara and Nat had happily begun their new life, and had begun building a small hut for themselves. The guest hut was small, only two rooms, a kitchen/dinning room, and a bedroom, with only one bed. Next door was the hospital tent. Occasionally they would find weak or injured pokémon and they would treat them, or at least make their last moments comfortable.
Everything was perfect for them. Nat finally could live without fear, learning tricks from the other 'mon, and enjoying being free. Sara was happy too. The other pokémon were beginning to come around to her, though she always needed a translator. Things were great. But of course, things went wrong one night.
In the village, two figures crept silently towards their home. They entered the structure, glad the hinges were not rusty, and drew their weapons as they kicked the bedroom door open.
As if waiting for this, Nat was up and firing random psychic blasts through the open doorway. Sara screamed, and covered her head. The attackers shot blindly into the room, missing them completely. The shooting stopped and so did Nat.
"This is bad." He said to her. "My battery's almost dead."
The two figures reentered the room, swords now drawn. Sara backed away into a corner, and Nat stood in the way, wings spread out to shield her.
"You shall not touch her!" Nat shouted telepathically. The two paused, then together, stabbed their weapons forward into him, causing him to cry out, and pushing him into Sara. She screamed as she felt the cold metal sink into her flesh just below her rib cage, and half fainted at the pain. Nat's eyes blazed green with rage. He fired a massive psychic blasts at the two attackers, throwing them out the door and sending them hurtling at a tree, hitting it with a sickening crack. Still in a berserker frenzy, he ripped the blades out of them, Sara whimpering at the pain, and threw them at his already defeated opponents. He then turned, wrapped himself around Sara, and teleported them.
Instantly Sara saw they were at the nearby hospital. But something was wrong. Her wounds were not as painful, but strange thoughts and images floated through her head, too warped to be identified. Then Sara felt the loss of balance that comes with teleporting, a second time. The images were gone and so was her consciousness.
"Going to wake up today?" a voice rang out in the darkness, waking her up. Sara blinked in the light. Everything was stiff. How long had she been lying there? "Oh so you're alive? Shame." The voice said.
"Who's there?" Sara mumbled glancing around. Her mind was like sludge and she had a massive headache. Through that she eventually worked out she was in the hospital in a bed and Blissy was standing over her. "My head."
"Here, this will help." The Blissy said handing her a pestle full of a strange concoction. Sara drank, not even realizing what had just happened. After she had finished she looked at Blissy.
"Where's Nat?"
"You're lucky he sees something in you. I can't image, you humans are not attractive at all. He's over there." Blissy answered, gesturing. "Now sleep." Blissy commanded, miming sleep.
Sara yawned and turned over trying to fall asleep despite the pain. Groggily she mumbled "How can you talk" But Blissy didn't hear and Sara was out once more.
It wasn't for several more days, she later learned that she awoke again, still very much in pain, but her headache was mostly gone, so she gingerly sat up rubbing her painful abdomen. It was heavily bandaged. She looked over at Nat. He was also awake! He appeared deep in thought, and hadn't noticed she was awake.
"Hey. We're alive!" Sara said. Nat jumped, nearly falling out of his bed, and then said something under his breath, clutching his torso. "Are you okay?" Sara cried.
"Mostly." Nat replied. "I'm surprised you're talking to me after what happened."
"You saved my life! Again! How could I be mad about that?"
"Because I did something I shouldn't have." Nat said. "I teleported under stress, when I couldn't focus and now this." He said raising his wing. Sara looked at it and was surprised to see some feathers had appeared to become rigid, forming stubby fingers.
"I don't understand." Sara stated.
"Teleporting needs a lot of focus, especially when teleporting with someone else. I was in pain, couldn't think, and forgot to account for the second person. When we reentered, so to speak, we merged. Became one being."
"So that's what happened. Weird. But we're not now."
"It wasn't for long and I managed to compose myself long enough to separate us again, but not without consequences obviously. This is the only thing I've noticed on me. You may have similar... deformities, but it's unpredictable."
"Do they work?"
"These things? Sort of." Nat answered bending the feathers.
"Hey! You just talked! And not with your head!" Sara exclaimed.
"Ah. I guess I won't need to act as a translator anymore." Nat joked. "This is serious though, I don't know what else happened. It could be anything."
"What happened to those guys?"
"They... didn't fare as well as we did. One broke his neck and died immediately, the other broke his back and was killed by the sword I threw at him. Blissy told me."
Nat was nervous of how she would react, he didn't like being violent and had done it because they had hurt her, but this just proved pokémon were violent and dangerous.
"Well good. Oh dare they go around killing innocent people and pokémon." Nat breathed a sigh of relief. "So now what?" Sara asked.
"I can answer that." Alakazam said walking in, talking telepathically. "While I do not hold anything against you and what transpired was not your fault, I must ask you to leave the valley. It's more for the safety of the others that I do this. Someone is clearly after you and I cannot endanger the lives of those who have lived at peace here for so long."
"But-" Sara began to protest.
"We understand. As soon as we are fit to travel we will leave." Nat interrupted her. Alakazam nodded and left.
"Why shouldn't we say no and stay?"
"Because he's right."
"So where are we supposed to go now?" Sara demanded.
"There is one more place we might find solitude. Among my people. They should be peaceful enough, as well as strong enough to protect us."
"How long will it take to get there?"
"If we hurry, we can make it in about a month."
"A month?" Sara whined. "It's that far?"
"Well yes. It's quite far and over several mountains."
"Maybe we can find out why I got you."
"Yeah! I've always wondered how that happened."
"Lets go!" Sara declared before falling back from the pain and stiffness.
"Perhaps we should wait a while." Nat joked.
"Fine. We've got to leave soon. I really want to get there."
"As do I. As do I."
"Thank you very much for taking care of us, but as you requested we will leave this valley." Nat bowed to Alakazam. It was several weeks later and they had fully recovered. They had been given previsions for a couple weeks as well as a couple blankets.
"I wish you luck on your trek." Alakazam said. The two walked off, waving to the valley inhabitants. Off to their next destination.Chapter End Notes:So yeah, kinda brief. The next chapter will have new surprise.
