Story Notes:
Okay, so I got the idea for this story through a wave of depression. Depression has it's perks. Anyways, this story is in a flashback format, and I really, really hope I'm able to make this work. I'm pretty proud of it so far, and think I can do a lot to push it on.I'm mot going to put warnings, since none of the current chapters have sex or anything. I don't even know for sure if I'm going to add sex or not. If I do though, I'll be sure to add in the warnings later on. Thanks~
Chapter 2
The next morning, I woke up feeling very rested. I opened my eyes to see the fire still burning warmly next to Blue and I. I looked over to find him still sleeping, snoring a little. I giggled to myself, and stood up, stretching out before I walked over to the place I saw Blue take out a berry just the day before.
I reached in and pulled out a Rawst berry, quickly biting into it and muring lightly at the bitter taste. I finished it up, and wiped the berry juice off of my face, before I decided to walk outside for a bit, knowing Blue would probably still be asleep when I got back in.
I stepped out, breathing in the cool, morning air, smiling happily. I noticed that there was a mailbox next to the road, at the entrance to the base. I never noticed it there before, but then again, I never cared to look.
'Maybe our application was accepted...' I thought to myself, walking over to the box, opening it up and peering inside. I noticed a piece of paper, and started to get excited. When I pulled it out, though, it was just a newspaper. I sighed, taking the newspaper and walking back inside, sitting down on my mat.
I read through the paper, not seeing anything too out of the ordinary, just some articles on other rescue teams that pulled off some daring missions. I looked at a picture of a strong looking Typhlosion, standing next to a Feraligatr, and a Sceptile. I closed my eyes, seeing myself one day as that Typhlosion, in a dungeon with my team, using my fire abilities to burn through waves and waves of enemies, while my team mates grabbed the lost Pokémon, and we made our escape out of the dungeon with our badges... Then I heard the cheering and chanting of my name, from leading my team to such a brilliant victory... Pali! Pali! Pali...
All of a sudden, I was smacked upside the head by a blue paw. I jumped, turning around to see Blue looking at me. "Dude, are you awake?"
"Oh, yeah. Sorry, I got caught up in my mind for a minute..." I apologized, kind of embarrassed over it.
"Don't worry about it. It happens to all of us sometimes. I see that you picked up the paper."
"Yeah. I didn't see any kind of letter from the Rescue Team Ministry..."
"Well, we did just send it in yesterday. We can't be too down on everything. I would like to get to helping other Pokémon out as soon as possible, though..."
Almost as if waiting on us to say something, we heard a loud shout outside our base. We looked at each other, and then ran for the door. When we got outside, there was a female Kangaskhan waiting, yelling for help.
"Please, someone please help!" she was crying, tears running down her face.
"Miss, what happened?!" Blue asked her, both of us running over to her.
"My baby! A fissure opened up and he fell down inside! Please, you've got to help me!" She seemed really frantic about it. I knew we had to help, even though we didn't have our badges yet.
"We'll help you out!" I stepped in and said. "Where is the fissure? We'll do our best to get him out for you!"
"Wait, we don't have our badges yet, though! Maybe we should ask another team to help out..." Blue argued back.
"We don't have time! We need to save this Kangaskhan's baby as soon as possible!"
"He fell in around the Tiny Woods. Please, you've got to save him! He means everything to me!" Large tears rolled down her face as she told us that. I really did feel bad for her, which fueled my wanting to help her even more.
"C'mon Blue, we've got to do this!" I grabbed him by the paw and ran in the direction of the Tiny Woods. It was probably very reckless of me to do this without any proper gear, but I guess something snapped in my head. I mean, we couldn't just let this small baby suffer, just because we didn't have our badges or anything yet.
When we arrived in the Tiny Woods, the trees started to get really thick, and started to form sort of passage ways. Mystery Dungeons were wonders of nature. Every time you visited one, they changed up. Also, the fact that there were different levels gave them a variety of different possibilities. When all these natural disasters started to act up so suddenly, many of the Pokémon in these areas snapped and went crazy. This made going inside them very dangerous.
"Uh, Blue... I have a confession..." I had to tell him that I had never been inside a mystery dungeon before. I didn't want him to think I was an expert or anything...
"What is it?" He asked, as we continued to walk along into the forest, which seemed to turn from a forest to a maze very quickly.
"I've never actually been in one of these dungeons before. I was being a little headstrong back there when we were with the Kangaskhan. .."
"Don't worry. Neither have I, to tell the truth."
Great. Two rookie, and at the moment, wanabe rescue team members, stuck in a mystery dungeon, with no experience at all of going through one. I could tell right now this was going to be very fun...
"Wait. Instead of just wandering aimlessly around here, maybe we should stop and make a plan." I suggested, not wanting to get lost in here.
"That's probably a good idea."
So we stopped for the time being, discussing and going over what we thought should be done about our situation.
"Okay, so we know one thing about this place." said Blue, "And that's the fact that this place has four levels. One of them is the bottom level, which isn't a maze. I learned that while looking up info about starting a rescue team."
"Okay. So most likely, the baby Kangaskhan would be on the bottom level, right?"
"Exactly. So we just need to find the entrances to all the different levels, and get down to the bottom level."
"That sounds easy enough." It sounded like it, but I figured it was a lot harder than it seemed.
So the two of us started back to exploring. Almost as soon as we started back to exploring, we saw a Rattata up ahead. My heart started to race, as I had never actually been in a battle before. Let alone a dungeon battle.
"Okay, Pali. The best thing we can do is just rush him. Us two combined should be able to fend off a Rattata."
"Are you sure? I've never actually been in a battle before..."
"I wish you would have told me that before you dragged us into the dungeon" he moaned. Suddenly, the Rattata noticed us, and started to run at us quickly. I panicked, watching him run straight at me as his target. My body froze, unable to move as the Rattata grew closer and closer. When he got just a few feet from me, he leaped at me. I covered my face with my paws, wishing I hadn't drug us into this mess.
The Rattata never hit me though. I heard a loud rush, which sounded like a burst of water. I looked through my paws, to see that Blue had sprayed the Rattata with a Water Gun, which threw it into a tree.
I went to say thank you, but he interrupted me. "Don't worry about it. We have to stick together, right? You owe me one though."
I have a nod, trying to regain my composure. "Yeah, okay."
We started back to exploring, going through several passages, fighting off a couple more Rattata, and some Pidgey. After a while, though, I noticed something in one of the rooms. "Hey, Blue. What's that over there?" I pointed to something that looked like a drop off.
"Aha! That's the entrance to the next floor." We ran over to it. It looked like a small hole in the ground, with a small rope that led down into the next level. I hesitantly grabbed onto the rope, slowly climbing down. When I got all the way down in there, I looked around, seeing no enemy Pokémon. "It's safe!" I called down.
When he got down with me, we scanned the room for anything interesting. The weirdest thing about these dungeons was the fact that when you were down in a new level, even though you went down, there were still lots of trees and stuff.
This level of the dungeon was a lot like the first one; there were lots of trees, lots of passages and rooms, and lots of enemies. At one point, a Rattata jumped at Blue when he didn't see, and I embered it and knocked it out. "So, are we good?" I asked.
"Yeah. We're good." We both chuckled as we continued on. After a few more minutes of wandering around, we saw the next floor entrance, which acted in the same fashion the other one did. We both climbed down the rope into the next room.
This level seemed to be much easier than the other two, but I guess we were just getting used to it. When you enter a dungeon that you don't know anything about, without having battled before, it can be pretty scary and tough.
When we reached the final entrance to the bottom level, I heaved a sigh of relief. We made it through without being hurt. We both climbed down this final rope, into a large room. There were no trees, just a wall and a large opening that lead one way. We both hurried down the passage into the last room, which in the middle, was the baby Kangaskhan. We rushed over to him, glad that he hadn't been harmed by any other Pokémon.
"Hey, kid. We came to rescue you!" shouted blue, getting the attention of the crying Kangaskhan.
"W-what? Who are you?" He asked, wiping tears from his face.
"We're a Pokémon rescue team! We came to take you back to your mother." Blue answered back.
"Oh, okay... Are you going to use your badges?" he asked curiously.
"Well, uh, we don't really have our badges..."
"Great! I forgot we needed them to get out of these places." I said.
"It'll be fine. We'll just take him back up the way we came. It's dangerous, but we can handle anything that may try to harm him or us.
"Good point." So with that, we took him back up the ropes. He held on to Blue's back while he climbed up the rope. I went first, so I could take out any enemies that might have been up there. When we got back up to the top floor, and got out of the dungeon, none of us was hurt.
"We did it, Blue!" I cheered happily, actually making it through a dungeon, having never fought before. And above all, we saved the baby Kangaskhan! I had never been any happier than I was then. It felt good, knowing we had helped him. "Okay, let's get him back to his mother at the base!"
After a few minutes of a hike, we made it back to the base, with the baby Kangaskhan's mother still waiting and crying. When she saw us coming down the road, she immediately stopped crying and ran towards us. She scooped up her baby and nuzzled him all over.
"Oh, my baby is safe! I'm so happy, I could cry even more!"
"Don't worry about it, ma'am. We're just glad we could help you out!" Blue seemed to be happy about being able to help out this mother, too. It seemed like we made a good team together.
"Oh, I could never thank you two enough! Here, please take these. It's the least I could do to repay you for what you've done!" She reached into a pouch she was carrying, and handed us several berries, along with an Oran berry. From what I know about berries, Oran berries are good for healing. That would come in handy when we were in dungeons.
"Thank you for all this stuff, miss!" Blue exclaimed, holding all the berries in his arms.
"Please, it's the least I could do for you saving my baby. Thanks again!" She then started to walk off, carrying and nuzzling her baby, who was just as happy to be back with his mom.
"Well, Pali. It looks like we did something really good today. We may not have gotten our rescue team kit, yet, but we've already helped out a Pokémon in need!"
"Yeah. I'm so glad we were able to help out that Kangaskhan and her baby." I yawned all of a sudden. "But wow... It's getting late already... Time flies when you're in a mystery dungeon, I guess.
"Tell me about it. I'm tired too. I think we earned a good night's rest, what do you think"
"I think I'm already there." We both laughed, and walked into the base. There was a small pool in there where we both took a bath, then I dried us both off, and we both bedded down for the night.
"So, Blue. Do you think that we'll get our rescue team kit tomorrow?" I asked him.
"I really hope so... The faster we get to help more people, the better. I felt really good today after we helped that Kangaskhan lady out."
"I did too. Well, I'm tired, so I'm going to sleep now." I laid my head down in my paws, resting my eyes and letting out a sigh.
"Yeah, me too. Night Pali." Blue did the same, rolling on his belly and curling his tail around by him.
The last two days have changed my life a lot. The first day, I met up with my first and only friend, and then we made a Pokémon rescue team together. Then today, before we even got our rescue kit, we helped save a baby from a fissure. I think we've done a lot for our first day together. Blue seems really nice, and I think I could get used to his company. But for now, it was time to sleep.Chapter End Notes:Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it! Please, rate, comment and review.
