CHANSON DU SOLITARE

IV.

Takeru was preparing camp for the night while the other, when an odd thought hit him---what was the Lucario's name, he wondered.
"Hey," he asked her, "I forgot to ask you. What's your name?"
"My name?" she wondered. "Hmm...well, I don't even have one."
"That's sad," he said. "Everyone needs a name, and I don't think I want to be calling you 'Lucario' all the time. Want me to give you a name?"
She thought for a second, and then nodded.
"Yes. I'd like that."
He thought for a moment. This was an important decision, and not one to be decided lightly.
"Well...I guess...how does 'Crystal' suit you?"
She thought a minute. Finally, she said, "Yeah. I like that name."
Suddenly, the others returned. Upon seeing a Lucario, Max went ballistic.
"Oh my God, a Lucario! They're so...rare! And..."
--He noticed her breasts, which Takeru had ignored...
"Ummm..." a red-faced Max stuttered, "a girl Lucario..."
Crystal hid behind Takeru, and asked him who these people were.
"This is Crystal, everyone. She's a Lucario I befriended earlier. Max, stop acting like you've seen a ghost."

Over the next four months, Takeru and Crystal were inseparable. It was as if they were connected by some unseen bond. There was an affection there which made their compatibility clear. She'd love listening to his violin (as did everyone), and he'd talk to her about her traumatic past, which helped her get past it. She was growing into an accomplished fighter. They were definitely the best of friends. But that would shift within the next few months.

That particular night was extremely cold, you see. Crystal was freezing, and crept slowly to Takeru, and crept into the sleeping bag, hoping to avoid detection, so she wouldn't freeze.

When your feet are 50 degrees lower than everything else, you're going to definitely be noticed.

He awoke, confused, and then turned around.
"Crystal...what are doing?" he asked.
"Oh...sorry, I was cold outside. Do you mind if I stay here?"
"Well, I guess. It is pretty cold out."
"Thanks," she said, snuggling up to him.
"Ay! But please, keep your feet off me, they're like ice!" he laughed.
And the two went to sleep.

Crystal then had two dreams. Dreams which would shape everyone's life forever.

The first was in a large, ornate building of stone. She saw she was veiled and in a log, white dress. An elderly man in ornate robes stood by a table of solid marble. To this right (her left) was Takeru, in a fancy tuxedo. Many people sat in long, crowded benches of wood. They also wore tuxedos and dresses; however one section of people wore full military uniforms. They all were sitting, and the room was quiet. A man in a military uniform with several medals pinned to his left breast walked up to her, and took her arm.
"Ready?" he asked.
"For what?" she replied.
"Cold feet, huh?" he said, curiously. "Don't worry, it'll be OK."
"What do I do?"
"Just follow the crowd, and when the priest asks you, say 'I do'. Didn't you guys go over this?"
"No."
"Hmm...well, anyway. Cue the orchestra."
The last part, he said into a radio, and a large group of people that were to the side in the other section of the building began to play. Immediately, the people rose at attention. The soldier led her down the aisle, while the people in the benches looked at them. As they reached the front, more and more people could be seen crying. In the front row, Ash, Brock, May, Max, and Misty stood, some crying. Eventually, they stopped at that row.
"Who gives this woman away?" the old man said in a surprisingly loud voice.
"I." the soldier replied.
He then went to sit with the other soldiers in the front row.
The man began performing sacred rites, while Crystal thought, "What's this? Takeru and I...are we...we're together, everyone else is separated from us...what...it's as if we're in some ritual..."
She then heard the man speak of love and undying loyalty. She then thought, "Is this a friendship ceremony? I don't think you need oneâ"do you?"
Then, the man spoke of a new life together, of prosperity, fidelity, and of soul mates. She then realized what was.
"It must be a mating ritual", she thought. "But why are there so many people here? Is mating a public thing for these people? No...but it's something important. Maybe...it's a ceremony to claim each other?"
She felt special at the idea of someone going to that trouble to claim her as a mate. Then, the man addressed the couple.
"King Takeru," he said, "do you take Crystal to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, for poorer or richer, to respect, honor and cherish her, 'till death do you part?"
Takeru's eyes held the hint of suppressed tears.
"I do," he said firmly.
The man then asked Crystal, "Crystal, do you take King Takeru to be your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health, for poorer or richer, to respect, honor and cherish him, 'till death do you part?
"I do," she said, remembering the soldier's words.
The man then spoke again.
"Then," he said, "By the power vested in me by the Lord God, and by the Harberian Church, I pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Takeru then approached, her and bent over slightly (he was nearly six feet, she was five feet even). He removed the veil, and inched closer...

And everything went black. She then had the second dream, which scared her somewhat.

It took place in a red room, with a velvet interior. She reclined on a bed, and then Takeru entered. Suddenly, she began to emit pheromones, and something was churning within her. There was a great sense of urging, like there was something burning within her. No matter what she thought of, Takeru remained at the center of her mind. She felt a raging sensation. There was something in her that urged for him. She didn't understand what she wanted at first, until it finally struck her.

She wanted to mate with him.

As he sat down in a recliner, she arose.
"Something wrong?" he asked.
She didn't speak, but she simply sat in his lap and kissed him. He didn't resist.
Now, she thought.
She slowly arose, and led him to the bed, and stripped him, before laying him on the bed.
This is it, she thought.
Before either of them knew it, they'd started. She let out a low moan of enjoyment to the situation, as did Takeru. After a while, she felt a powerful sensation, one she'd never felt before, which felt like an earthquake, and she loved that brief moment. She and Takeru then lay down, and slept, after one more kiss.

She awoke in a cold sweat. Takeru was sound asleep, and she knew it was only a dreamâ"or a fantasy? She didn't understand what the dream meant; only that it was intimate. She dreaded speaking to Takeru about it, but figured someone had to know.

The next day, she went to May for advice.
"May," Crystal asked, "can I ask you something kinda...important?"
"Sure," she said. "What's up?"
"I had two dreams last night. I was in a sort of temple, and Taâ"I mean, this guy, was in there. There was some weird ceremony. An old guy asked if I wanted to be his 'wife', and I said yes, and then he was about to kiss me, and then it all switched to another dream. I was alone in some room, and the guy came in. Then, I felt some weird, burning feeling. We started kissing, and then...there was this thing that happened. He went...err...inside me, or at least part of him. After a while, there was this big, earthquake sort of thing inside me, but it felt...good. We kissed again, and then...I woke up."
By the time Crystal had finished, May was squealing with excitement.
"Oh my God! Who was the guy?" she squeaked.
"Err...I'd rather not say." Crystal replied.
"Bummer. But yeah, it's a ceremony, and then mating, what you dreamed about." May said. Crystal's eyes widened.
"Do you think...that maybe, if I went for the guy, he'd...y'know?"
"Of course!"
"Oh, yeah. What's 'marriage'?" Crystal asked.
"A holy bond, in which a man and woman agree to live for each other, to be faithful, to always love each other. The woman is the 'wife', the man the 'husband'.
"But what if we're only friends, the guy and I?"
"That's how it starts."
"Ah...thanks!"
