"To Mate, or not to Mate"
By Darfix
Before long, Yukon lands near the beleaguered Darfix, dropping off the Poochyena, Skylia, with haste. Not even taking a moment to land, Yukon glances down at the Eevee as he begins to fly off, "I will bring your friend back, Skylia, don't you worry!"
Within a few moments the Noctowl is flying away, apparently heading back to pick up Destiny.
Immediately, Darfix' eyes fall on the attractive Poochyena as she gives her fur a shake to recompose herself from the landing. Words escape him for a moment as his mind plagues him with thoughts of Destiny, the previous encounter with the Zigzagoon, as well as the temptation to seduce this Poochyena so as to get his debt paid off. He really did not want to cheat on Destiny, but what alternative did he have? Did he want to be an adulterer or a murderer? Chances are he had very little time to formulate his course of action, so deciding would have to come very soon.
Further proof that he did not have the luxury of limitless time comes when the Poochyena acknowledges Darfix' presence and proceeds to step closer to him. "You must be..." she trails off for a second, blushing a little as she does so, "The admirer that sent his Noctowl rescue me."
Darfix knew that chances are this fabricated tale was part of Yukon and Edge's plan. It was best to go along with it.
"Yeah, hehe, I couldn't just leave you as you were..." he replies nervously. He didn't know the whole story, so saying the very basics to avoid slipping up or spilling any details that would conflict with something Yukon told her was in his best interests.
Regardless of his safe wording, she seems to respond positively, blushing some more, "Do you know me from the tribe? I haven't seen an Eevee there in a long time..."
"Well, um, let's just say I keep an eye on those Iâ"am attracted to..." he speaks, only after saying it does he mentally slap himself for using those words. He knew nothing of this girl! But then again, it was difficult to say anything else without it sounding suspicious.
"So," she replies, sitting down in front of him, "How come you never came to say hello then?" she asks, quirking a brow in a cute manner.
"Oh, well, you know..." he responds, gritting his teeth and glancing off to the side.
She nods her head, sighing softly, "You didn't want to impose? You were afraid that you being an Eevee would get you in trouble with the Mightyena fathers trying to get their sons mated to me?" she asks, as if dwelling on it herself, she turns away from him and begins to look up longingly at the darkening sky. "I don't think any of those other males would have done what you did today. Sure, you sent you Noctowl to do it, but..." it is as she says those words, she realizes something.
She turns back to him with a curious smirk, "Speaking of which, how does an Eevee come to have a Noctowl for a pet?"
Darfix clenches his teeth tighter at her question and swallows the knot in his throat, "Well, he'sâ"sort of more a friend, than a pet. I uhâ"he just helps me out when I need it."
Skylia nods a bit, her eye sight trailing downwards a little, as something caught her eye.
Catching this, Darfix instantly repositions so his fore legs cover his goodiesâ"though temporary, it'll still give him some time, "Byâ"by the way, I am Darfix," he replies, forcing a bit of a smile, "It is nice to meet you."
Skylia giggles slightly, seemingly unconcerned with why he quickly shielded his lower area. "Well, my name is Skylia, but you probably knew that already, didn't you?" she questions him with another soft laugh, smiling at him as she does so. "I do like your name, what tribe are you from?" she asks, leaning forward to sniff him a little to get an understanding of where he had been. However, due to his bath all she really smells is the Zigzagoon, which causes her brow to furrow a little.
"Oh, justâ"a distant tribe of Eons. Nothing special," he replies quickly.
She nods her head a bit, "...are you one of the princes of that tribe?" she asks him with mild skepticism.
"Err, not exactly..." he quips, then thinking for a moment. It'd be a good story that he was hesitant to approach her because he was not of "royal" blood. What a great way to delay the inevitable! "...I guess that is also why I was hesitant to approach you; I didn't think non-royal blood really was your type..."
Mentally he is kicking himself again, it felt so wrong to play this girl like that, all because he wanted that stupid stone that made him weak again anyway! The only good thing that came of this was Destiny's love, which he would probably lose after repaying this debt anyway...
"So, um, what's with the Zigzagoon scent all over you?" she asks in a semi-interrogating manner.
Darfix is quickly beginning to realize how much on the defensive he is here. Question after question, answers he couldn't really say truthfully without jeopardizing the debt! "I uh, just kind of crashed into oneâ"she got pretty upset andâ"well, you know how Zigzagoons are. Very quick and agile," he comments, biting the tip of his tongue for a moment, "She was all over me, I really could only curl up and wait for her to leave..."
"Oh, that sounds awful," Skylia answers, "At least you didn't get hurt, hmm?" she asks, noticing no signs of injury on the Eevee.
"Yeah, well, she was just trying to make a point I think..." he replies, "But, I really don't know if I am comfortable talking about meâ"perhaps you could entertain me with something about yourself?" he asks, trying to divert attention from his lies...
"Me?" she asks, giggling a little, "I thought you knew a lot about me?" she asks in a teasing manner.
"Heh, well, a lot is a lot less than all, you know?" he replies, glad that he was able to make his first smooth reply.
"Mmm," she counters with a nod, "That's good enough for me," she adds, smiling at him, seeming content with talking to him about this, as he seemed to listen honestly.
"Well, as you know, I am almost of age where I am about to be assigned a mate. I think my father already has a decision, but...I don't know, I was captured and taken away for awhile. Many things are probably different than they were now."
Darfix nods, "I would imagine..." he speaks softly.
She sort of smiles a bit and turns to face him again, "I guess that kind of works in your favor, hmm?"
Darfix tilts his head and blinks somewhat, "...pardon?"
"Well, you rescued me, in hopes that we can be mates...right?" she asks, now tilting her head. "Yukon told me you know a lot about my tribe. That only a virgin can be handed over to a male partner. He said you wanted to convince me that I should choose you," she adds softly, glancing off to the side again, "You seem nice...and, if I don't choose someone soon, I will be stuck with Takashu..."
Darfix' mind wanders yet again. Now she was pretty much willingly offering herself to him?! But it seems like she knew next to nothing about the mating process. She didn't seem scared at all, she only seemed to know that once one matedâ"whatever it was, they were partners for life and that would rescue her from being mated to a male she did not like.
"So, tell me, Darfix...how does mating work?" she asks softly, swishing her tail a little bit, "...Yukon told me you're taking me back to the tribe tomorrowâ"he said I don't have much time to choose a mate..."
The Eevee is mentally hit by a ton of bricks! What the hell would one say to that?! Not only was it technically his job to fornicate with her now, she was making it far too easy; dangerously easy. Darfix could feel his will power dying like a Magikarp in a microwave. Since he had to do itâ"or face retaliation from Yukon, Cyanide...and Edge, what choice did he really have? All he can do is clear his throat and take a deep breath, as he feels his fore legs relaxing a littleâ"slowly revealing his erection to the Poochyena girl in front of him. What the hell was he doing? It seems his heart was playing a game of chess with his penis; currently the penis was winning...
In the meantime, Niktsu and Tiasha continue their search for anyone they knew. They came across a few frolicking Vulpixes, but none turned out to be any of their friends or someone they knew. By this time, Tiasha was becoming impatient.
"It's getting close to the evening, Niktsu and we still haven't found anyone of our friends," she whines in a canine-like manner.
Niktsu however, was not about to give up. Even with a less efficient nose, he was sniffing the ground and the air for any signs of a familiar scent. Tiasha's nagging wasn't helping.
"You know, if you bellyached less and helped me out a little more, we may have found them by now..." he replies in annoyance.
Tiasha bares her teeth quickly, "Hey, don't get lippy with me...it's not my fault we're missing that little vixen that reminds you of your old flame..."
Niktsu feels his heart struck hard, as if that Absol that speared his chest before was just a little more to the right and tore his heart in two with the sharp scythe ear that all Absols had. He viciously turns to Tiasha, his eyes filled with a vengeance. "...this has nothing to do with Destiny, or Litiviaâ"or whoever the hell you think my mind is focused on finding!" he retorts, "I just want to make sure our friends are okay! Maybe you don't give a damn, but I fucking do...so if you're going to continue not to help me in the search, why don't you go find yourself a nice burrow to relax in while I look for them, okay?"
As anyone who knew Tiasha well enough, she did not take scolding very well. The stress of searching all day in worry had broken both of their patience, and Tiasha's fuse had just gone with Niktsu's last statement.
"Fine, fuck you too!" she counters aggressively, "When you find that little bitch, I hope you two make a happy couple! I hope she can handle a Flareon tooâ"oh wait, you aren't that well endowed, are you?" she asks, already turning her tail side to him and beginning to walk off.
Despite the intense anger Niktsu held inside due to Tiasha's immature, self-centered behavior touching upon the sensitive past Niktsu had between he and as his love Keilah, he tries his best to let it go so as to not do more damage to their relationship. He just focuses on continuing the search, and thus presses on.
Tiasha exhales heavily, but in a vexed manner as she goes her own separate way. Their separating only made things more difficult for the entire group to find each other, as it would seem. But Tiasha's current path was leading her right to Litivia, Kyotsu, Konya, and Subaki. Meanwhile, Niktsu's route would bring him fairly close to Darfix' current location. Maybe the split up wasn't such a terrible thing?
By now, Litivia and Konya were beginning to worry. The sky was turning darker and Darfix still had not returned from a simple bath? Something surely had to have happened to him!
"He's taking way too long," Litivia observes, sighing a bit as she gazes off in the direction he left to, "We should probably go look for him..."
Kyotsu takes a bit of a breath as he fears moving at this time of night would be unwise. Predators were about and he feared losing Litivia. Usually if a group were together they were in less danger. Thus are the reasons behind his bold volunteer, "I will go look for him, you three should stay here. I doubt anyone will attempt to attack two fire breathers and an Eevee. I know these woods better than you girl anyway."
"Are you sure about this, Kyotsu?" Litivia asks with a worried expression. She knew he wasn't much of a fighter. "What if you get attacked?"
"Like I said, not many predators want to risk becoming medium-rare. I'll be okay, alright? I'll be back with Darfix too. It's no big deal."
"Well, alright, if you insist..." she finally gives in, lying down with the other two girls as she watches him turn tail and pad off into the woods.
Konya and Subaki rest their heads down on their paws, their eyes on a bit of a swivel as the fear of something big jumping out at them consumes their thoughts.
"Don't worry," Litivia insists, "I won't let anything happen to you two," she promises, lightly licking each one on the cheek.
By now, Kyotsu was hot on Darfix' trail. He could smell the path the Eevee took, as well as the nearby water. Immediately he worries that perhaps the current was too strong for the Eevee, and carried him down stream. Or what if perhaps a Goldeen speared him? It was hard to say what happened, but he was determined to find out.
At the same time, Niktsu is drawing significantly closer to Darfix' location. The musk of an Eevee and the scent of a Poochyena catch his senses. He does not know for sure if that is Darfix or not, but it surely was worth a look. As he changes course, a large blade-like object swings out of no where from the shrubs at his right flank and slices him across the cheek.
Niktsu rears back in pain, bringing one of his fore paws to his cheek to confirm the bleeding. Indeed, there was blood, but also there was a different colored liquid. Nervously, he lifts his gaze, finding himself staring into the eyes of a menacing Seviper.
"Ssssorry, Flareonâ"thissss party is invite only!" the large snake hisses, getting ready to do everything in his power to prevent the Flareon from interrupting Darfix' "job". "Oh, and by the way...Toxic usually can take a Taurossss down in under five minutes. If you sssstart to fight me, you'll only speed up your heart rate and quicken the pace at which the poison spreads through your body."
"Dammit!" Niktsu replies, assuming a defensive position. He can feel drops of blood and venom dripping down his cheek and hitting the leafy ground of the forest. What the hell was this Seviper trying to protect?
Kyotsu's attempt to find Darfix doesn't go much smoother. As he draws close enough to see the water, he suddenly finds himself frozen in fear to the sound of something rushing him! The leaves can be heard turning over as the creature draws rapidly near. However, even with a Vulpix' excellent night vision, it doesn't help much when he is already pounced upon before he can see what took him down.
Now on his back, he find himself gazing into the eyes of a Zigzagoon, who giggles as she looks down at her "catch". "Well aren't you a cute little fireball," she flirts playfully, rubbing her tail against his own six.
Kyotsu, though a male and easily capable of being tempted by such antics, is quite satisfied with Litivia and focused greatly on his friend. "I am sorry, miss, but I have a friend that might need my help...could you please excuse me, I'll be on my way."
This of course wasn't the type of reaction the Zigzagoon wanted. She leaps off of him quickly and blocks his path, assuming a battle-ready stance. "Well, either you can enjoy yourself or you can know painâ"which will it be? Either way, you're not passing..."
Kyotsu immediately knows something funny is going on now. It surely involved Darfix, but who the hell was this Zigzagoon? She certainly could change moods at the drop of a dime...
