Chapter 1: Wake up call
Chapter 1: Wake up call
Leon's left eye opened weakly as a ringing resounded from a cell laying beside him on the dirt, a think layer of plastic protecting him from feeling MOST of the rocks and or getting wet with the soaked ground bellow him. His eyes drew lazily around the room to a white furred Lucario. Despite her being contained in a luxury ball, leaving her to feel as the name said, in luxury. She seemed to prefer walking with him, and staying out of the ball, even if it meant soaking in the wet soil with him. While thinking of this all, his mind seeming to almost go into a loop with the recording playing as a wake up call on his cell-phone. Before it was finally shut off by a the yawning white furred Pokemon.
"Lu, cari?" The Pokemon muttered, the word translating clearly in his head as, 'You awake?' Leon didn't reply as he picked the phone off the ground and slipped into his jean pocket. Pulling out a small silver case, opening it carefully showing, a fold with a meager wad of credits, and places in specially shaped slots rested three of eight gym badges. He pulled lazily at the wad of money counting it slowly, his head still buzzing from the discomfort of his makeshift bed.
"Looks like we won't be able to buy much food until we find someone who is willing to battle for some credits or we win a few battles in the gym in Fuchsia City..." Leon sighed, "...did you happen to spot any berries or something while we were walking?" Leon said to the Lucario.
"Io." She said in reply seeming a little guilty in the way her eyes moved down. His mind translating it to her saying 'no' Leon stood up pulling his bag from the ground, unzipping one of its many pockets.
"Well, I think we car get the rest of the way we are only a little bit away from route 17, from there we could just roll down," Leon seemed to be digging into his bag pulling out several unused Luxury balls, a empty water bottle, a extra pair of pants, and other random items, laying them on the still unrolled plastic sheet. Lucario walked around him, looking curiously at his bag as he dug into the mess. Before she could try to ask what he was doing he stopped muttering more to himself, "There it is." Leon pulled out a white ball, his shape much like a poke-ball yet more expanded, the rising sun showing clearly its cheap plastic covering.
"What's that?" Lucario said, his mental translation seeming, to perfectly line itself with when she spoke, for a second causing him to wonder if he had heard her speaking plan English.
"I got it from the Pokemon center in the last town we visited remember? They said this would help us on the requirement for a bike on route 17." Leon muttered as he look around the white plastic orb wondering what to do with it he pushed on the button that rested on the orb like on a poke-ball. His only reward being a soft click as it went in for a second and then popped back into its original place. "I knew I should have asked them about how it worked instead of rushing off like I did." He said again to himself.
Lucario put a paw to her mouth seeming to softly nibble on the tip of her paw as she was thinking. Her eyes running over its smooth surface wondering how such a device would help them with their need for a bike. Leaning forward she pushed softly on her trainer moving him out of the way as she poked the button like Leon had done a second ago. Again only to get the weak click as it was pushed in and slowly popped back out to its original position. Her ears rising as a soft tic tock sound started to come from the object, small lines appearing on its originally smooth surface. Lucario suddenly dropped it as a bolt of electricity jumped onto her arm. Leon quickly reacting with a mix of surprise as he pulled her away from the device as another bolt jumped at her. Parts seemed to expand and rearrange themselves as more and more bolts jumped off singe the ground around it.
"I kinda wish I would have just bought a bike now." Leon said as he pulled Lucario back further after a bolt hit the grass a few inches away. "Can you get up?" He said addressing Lucario. She looked back, pulling on his arm softly as she got to her feet. Acting more shaken up then she was as she leaned against Leon. Your stronger then that, aren't ya?" Leon said as they watched the display as it started to mold a wheel like form, the metal twisting and bending, bolts of lighting coming off of its frame as it changed.
"Sorry." Lucario said as they rested a distance away from the slowly morphing orb that was starting to look like a bike.
"What for?" Leon said his eyes turning away from the morphing parts. The Lucario seemed to be close to his face as he turned to her, her breath feeling soft and steady.
"I..." Lucario looked down as she slowly moved her head away from his. "I..I just..." Lucario stopped seeming to think over her words before saying, "I feel tired...forget it." She said before laying down on the ground quickly falling asleep despite the sounds of roaring lightning only a few feet away. Leon shrugged thinking over her actions in his mind only for a few seconds till going back to the thing he always thought about most. How come he understood what she said so well, and how come he could not with any other Pokemon? This question constantly coming to his mind from the day he meant her. The first sounds she made he knew he half understood as she muttered them while protecting him from the flock of Pidgey a year ago. Now he was at the point the had started to have a hard time realizing she was not speaking English when not paying much attention his mental translations almost perfect with her voice and mouth movements.
Leon sighed as he laid back in the grass, the sun shinning behind a thick line of clouds, light just barely pulling through in thin strands of light sliding vertically down to the water to his left. He looked back at the orb just as the second tire was starting, it seemed like it would take a long time for this thing to finish its change. He yawned weakly as he rolled on his side, facing the water as he dozed off in the wet grass. Not noticing as Lucario opened her eyes staring at Leon's back seeming lost in a wave of thoughts of her own. Of the life they had lived since she had met him only a year ago. She had more or less tried to save him from a onslaught of Pidgey, being the only one who seemed to worry what would happen to the human she ran out thinking she could save him.
"Hey..." Leon muttered in his sleep, the words surprising Lucario for a second before she started to think again, only to stop as she heard the voice of a human she did not recognize, what sounded like a boy perhaps a year older then Leon.
"Hey! Are you guys okay?" The boy yelled as he ran up to them, Leon leaning up to look at the arrivals. Other then the boy was a girl seeming to almost be in her twenties more or less following the boy with the concern of a mother over a child. The girl walked up seeming to be ready to yell at the boy until she noticed Lucario. Seeming to stop short of hugging the Pokemon she smiled and then turned back a angry gaze at the boy she was with only to be stopped again as two bolts short out from the morphing metal, seeming poised at her. Out of reflex Lucario pushed the woman out of the way, getting only a few singe marks from it. The boy ducked down a little helping the woman to her feet again opening a Pokedex in the process as he looked at Lucario. After a few seconds a automated voice said.
"Lucario, the aura Pokemon, a evolved form of Riolu. Able to aura it is known to use it both to guess a enemies next move and trace people. As it is able to read thoughts and movements with its abilities in the control of aura."
"Lucario?" The boy said, "But something's off."
"It's a harmless mutation." Leon said as he finally started getting up. "Otherwise she is like any other Lucario. Anyway, who are you?" The boy smiled saying,
"I'm Red, a Pokemon trainer." he said it as if his name was well known. Yet all Leon thought of was the fact he was a trainer.
"Red.. Sorry but we need the money....Mind if we have a Pokemon battle?" Leon said patting Lucario on the head. "You can pick any two you want to have go against Lucario."
"Are you sure?" Red said slightly confused. "Don't you have any more Pokemon?"
"Haven't had the luck to run into any wild Pokemon I wanted or could catch." Leon said, walking back as he went on "Ready when your ready....Lucario." Lucario nodded standing straight and calmly leaving her hands hanging to her sides. Red smiled as he pulled out two poke-balls, a decoration of lighting covering the top of one. Pulling a white hat with a red symbol of a poke-ball on its front and stuffing it on his head he yelled.
"Espeon, Hondoom, come out." Red commanded as he throw them, white light flying out of the opening poke-balls quickly taking on the shape of the Pokemon called. "Espeon, helping hand. Hondoom, fire fang." He said just as they came from their poke-ball, both running at the calmly standing Lucario. Espeon jumped onto Hondooms back, flashing a glow as the move's power was increases, Hondooms teeth jumping with eager flames.
"Detect." Leon yelled, smiling as he did. The two Pokemon ran harder, just as they got close she jumped up, the two Pokemon rushing under her, Espeon tripping off Hondooms back as he quickly stopped. "Metal claw." Leon yelled out just as Hondoom came to a stop, Lucario smiling as she dropped her hand glowing as it slashed into the Hondoom, sending the Pokemon flying into the water, just barley awake enough to pull itself out of the water.
"Hondoom return." Red said then yelled, "Psychic" The pokemon's form seeming to flash to Lucario as she stared, her eyes blurring for a second, slowly clearing as she waited for Leon's command.
"Aura Sphere" he yelled out, Lucario smiling as she lifted a paw to Espeon calmly.
"Li" Lucario said, Leon's mind translating it as 'bye'. Before Red could say anything Espeon went flying back, slamming into Hondoom, who had just gotten out of the water. Red sighed as he called for them to return.
"Your Lucario is pretty powerful." Red said as he looked down with concern at the poke-balls his two injured Pokemon were in. grimacing a little at having to go to the Pokemon center again.
"Thanks, but I guess I have to go." Leon said quickly as he took the credits he had won.
"What's the rush for?" Red said.
"Its time I had a meal." Leon said as he was running to the now finished bike that rested in the grass. Lucario looked back at Red before rushing after her hard pedaling trainer while thinking. 'Always eager to eat.' The thought almost making her let out a giggle, stopping short of it as she started to catch up to Leon her eyes seeming to be stuck in a eager stare. 'If only I could tell him.' She thought numbly as she stared at him pedaling fiercely on the bike.
"Are you going to make me run the entire way?" Lucario said, somewhat thinking she could stay where she was, running after her trainer.
"Sorry." Leon said as he quickly stopped himself, both of his feet slamming into the ground to slow himself down faster as he pulled on the brakes on each handle. "Okay, lets see here," he said as he looked through his over stuffed pockets for her poke-ball. Pulling out the luxury ball with what looked like glowing white ruins carved into it he said, "Lucario re-" Lucario stopped him, placing a paw over his mouth before saying.
"Could I.... ride with you?" She said, her paw lowering as she stared at Leon's silver eyes. Leon shrugged,
"Sure, why not?"Chapter End Notes:Any suggestions on how I can improve anything will be fully appreciated, and any questions will be answered to the best of my ability, so.....see ya!
