Changing Sides by cobalt380

Story Notes:

For any confusion, these pokemon are feral in a seemingly natural/civil environment. A cross between. And more detail becomes evident as the story goes on.Also, as a big fan of DBZ and power-based things, this will have some minor swaying effect. Nothing like over 9000 references and kamehamehas, it still keeps the pokemon basis.

Arrival

Wes came out of the hiding place soon after. He walked reluctant, and slightly crooked. The reason was obvious so I didn't bother questioning.

"So, shall we head back?" Wes asked.

"You guys go on ahead, I think I'll stay here a while." I said. They both stared out of confusion, but the look I gave Bolt showed I was serious. He understood and led Wes away, and they started back home.

I streched my legs out and leaned back on my paws. I stared up into the sky and wondered where I'd go from here. Things are still strange. A few months ago I was crying over a lost love, and now I've found a new one of the same gender, and we've gone farther than I have with anyone else in record time. I think I might be taking things a bit too quickly. We may need a break of some sort...

I stood up after laying in the snow for a while, staring off into the sky. I was getting kinda hungry, but I got curious and walked into the trees where they had relations.

I moved the branches away as I stepped into the small sanctum. I looked up through the slim light that shone through betwen the branches. The light seemed to get brighter and I had thought that the clouds had moved away from the sun. I looked down and rubbed my eyes, but noticed the light was coming from another source. It wasn't coming from above me, but from behind me, further into the forest away from the park.

I closed my eyes and let the light go away, I slowly opened an eye and looked back at where it came from. There was nothing there, and I had just assumed a pokemon had used flash or something. But the ground in the distance from where the light appeared from was burnt to cinders, with the snow melted and everything. I tried to get a better look, but with no luck. I hopped the fence bordering the park, and scurried to take a look.

It was quite a distance farther than it looked from where I was. I stood on the edges of it, and looked down into it. It was burnt right to the dirt, and the dirt was even scorched. I had figured it must've been a fire pokemon. I noticed something that I couldn't see before, something unknown. The ground was smoking with an eerie blue gas. It was fluent and flowing nicely in the air, but taking no effect with the wind. It almost made it look like it was still on fire. A scent accopanied it, and I took in a deep breath. It smelled nice, sweet, and relaxed me. I felt allured into finding out where this had come from.

I closed my eyes to better concentrate on the scent, and followed it until I found a fresher scent. I open my eyes and noticed paw prints burned into the snow, similar to the charcoal pit behind me. The footsteps slowly turned back to normal prints in the snow, rather than burning prints in the dirt. The scent was strong here, and I decided to follow it.

I ran along the trail that these strange prints had led me, with no luck for quite some time. I started thinking that I was lost, but realised I didn't care. I kept running, and after a while the scent became stronger, and I knew I had to be catching up with whoever this was. I started hearing voices, it was one sound, but sounded like multiple people talking all at once. I managed to make out some words.

"What a beautiful place...Just like home...does anyone live...don't worry my friend...someone follows..."

I heard that last part and hid myself, I wasn't sure what I was hiding from though.

The voice changed from being distant, and echoey, to normal. "Show yourself!" I heard.

I shivered on the spot and did as it told. I looked around to find no one. I walked along and spotted a blue figure amidst some trees. It was looking the other direction. I approached the figure slowly and saw the figure. I recognised it, but couldn't put a name to it. The heavenly sounding voice returned, with that strange effect.

"Who are you? Hopefully it's someone safe, I don't want to hurt anyone who doesn't deserve it."

I came closer. "It's me....sir." I said with a gulp

I noticed what it was when it turned towards me. It was a Lucario, with perfect color; an extreme rarity in our land. We never find pokemon with their perfect original markings and colors. He assumed a sort of battle stance, with aura flaring from his paws. Once he saw who I was, his face took on a different look. He seemed shocked, but in a way that he recognised something. I heard the voice again.

"Prince Luke!? No it can't be! That's impossible!"

I figured it wasn't him speaking, because his mouth wasn't moving, but it sounded the same as the voice that I heard aloud clearly.

"Ummm... Who are you talking to? Who's Luke?" I asked.

He spoke, with the same voice I've always heard. "What? You can hear my thoughts? Who are you?" he stood at ease.

"M-my name's Roy." I spoke softly. "We don't see many Lucario around here. Let alone one in true color. Are you from around here?"

"Roy... With such an unfamiliar name comes such a similar look to that of my best friend. It's very nice to meet you." he held out a paw to greet me. It seemed kind of funny to me, he was almost twice as tall as I was and had to bend down to offer his paw. I took it and shook with it. "To answer your question, no I'm not from around here. Come with me, and we'll talk a bit."

I felt strange talking with this unkown being, but somehow I knew I could trust him. I don't know what it was about him that made everything feel safer, and made me feel all the more curious as to who he was.

"I'll answer your question soon, but first tell me about this world." he said not long after I questioned who he was in my thoughts. I gave him a strange look of disbelief.

"So it is true, Lucario can read minds! I've read so many great things about your type." I've actually always been fascinated with Lucario. In Socials class we study several different types of pokemon and their behavior, as well as their abilities and other neat things. I've always found that class boring, except when we studies Lucario. I was intrigued beyond anything I've ever been interested in before. I still am kinda obsessed. I remember I used to draw doodles of Lucario in my books and dream of being friends with them one day. There are a few that live in the town, but they're on the other end, and are all just one family. Heck, there's a Riolu girl in my class, but nobody really notices her because she's the only one of her kind. Thinking about it now I kinda feel bad.

He looked down at me, and smiled. "I can sense that you have a strong heart, Roy. I like that. I can also see that you're much different than anyone else around here."

"What do you mean by that?" I asked.

"You'll find out in a while, but for right now, I'd still like you tell me about this place. Are there any ruins or historical icons here?" he asked, going back to his serious atmosphere.

"Well, I've read about the old town that used to be here. It was destroyed by the dragons who live down south on this continent. I don't think there are many other historical things here though." I didn't bother asking questions anymore. I knew he was good-hearted, I could just tell somehow. Something kept telling me to trust him.

We continued walking for a while, and I figured he trusted me too. He could see into my thoughts after all. I began to wonder what time it was and that I should be getting home. I merely walked alongside him and kept trying to figure out what to do. I was questioning myself as to why I was following a stranger around. I looked up at him, having not said anything, or changed his expression in what seemed like forever. I started to think this was a bad idea. For all knew he could be looking into my memories and finding out everything I know, everything I've done. Oh no! He'd know about the things I've done with Tybalt and Bolt! How embarrasing...

"C'mon, I'll take you home." he said, after a time. He grabbed me from either sides and lifted me up onto his shoulders. I became extremely confused as I saw my feet leave the ground and rise up to heights that I usually don't see from. "Hang on tight." he said. I did as I was told. Only I didn't know what to hang on to. My legs were on his shoulders, going on either side of his head, and I could only hold onto his head. I placed my paws on top of his head, near his ears which were stood up going to either side of my face.

He stood his ground, and remained still for a moment. I was about to open my mouth when we starting speeding through the trees faster than my mind's eye could keep up with. He jumped from branch to branch, combined with alot of high speed running. It was incredible. I know Lucario were strong but this is ridiculous! Within seconds we were right outside my home. I found myself holding onto his head much tighter than I was a little while ago. I felt winded, and my fur was stuck back in a position that made it look like I got hit by a hurricane. I slowly released my grip and fell over backwards. He turned and caught me just before I hit the ground and stood me upright.

I attempted to walk to my door, and nearly collapsed. I felt drunk, and couldn't walk straight. I stopped to stand up proper, and focused on one spot on the ground until I felt a little less dizzy.

He simply laughed and said, "You'll feel better in a bit, don't worry about it. Well it was nice meeting you, I might see you later." he turned to leave.

"Wait!" I yelled out before he had a chance to disappear. "Do you even have a place to stay?"

"Well, no, but I'm a lone traveller. I'm used to not having a place to stay." he said as he was about to leave again.

"No don't go yet! I don't care if you're usually alone. Nobody deserves to be alone, even if they enjoy it. Stay with us, we'll make you feel at home. Please?" I felt a strange connection with him, there was no way I could pass up this chance. I wanted to know more.

He smiled. "You have a kind heart, Roy. You think first of others than you do of yourself. I don't have to read your mind to see that. You're in a state of near unconsciousness, yet you're inviting me in to stay before you set yourself straight." he looked out into the sky for a moment, and then turned back. "If it pleases you Roy, I'll stay."

I felt overjoyed. Finally, I found a Lucario for real! He's a perfect one too, with the same original look as the ones we study. I really hoped we could be good friends. But for now, I wanted to ensure that he felt at home. Nobody deserves to be alone. Nobody.

I invited him in almost instantly, and went through introductions with my mom and Bolt. He already knew who they were, through me, but I couldn't help myself. Then I thought, Tybalt should know about this!

"Mom! can I tell Tybalt too?" I asked.

She was cooking dinner for us all in the kitchen. She responded, "Normally, I'd let you go. But for one, you have a guest over. Two, I'm cooking dinner. Three, Tybalt's family came over today, he said to tell you that they've left town for Christmas and New Years. He'll be back in time for school again."

I was kind of disappointed. Tybalt would've loved to hear about this. I guess I'll have to save it for a back to school story. For right now, I would make this Lucario's stay here as wonderful as I possibly could.
