Prince Caine by caeden

Story Notes:

May Songfic 2010Based off of Into the Night by Santana and Chad Kroeger, one of my favorite songs. I'm not entirely sure what to rate this, since there's nothing explicit in it, but it mentions rape... I think PG-13's a safe bet.Anyways, read the summary for what the story's about. I don't know, like always, if I will continue the series, but if I do, it'll all be songfics, which could be interesting.

Chapter 1: The Party

Prince Caine Markus IV was sitting on his throne, the Weavile incredibly bored. A little larger than most, the young prince was sitting at his birthday party, drumming on the arm of the throne with his talon claw. His friend, a Snorunt named Plius, looked to him and shook his head. The two of them were bored, much rather not listen to the King, Caine's father, talk about what Caine's birthday meant. The now of age Weavile made a face, which got a few more snickers from the crowd present than he had anticipated.

"Do you have something to say?" The King asked, chuckling as well.

"No more than," Caine shrugged. "Let the festivities begin!" He cried, effectively cutting his father's speech short. The crowd laughed as he leaned back, making a waving motion with his claw, a smirk on his face. As the crowd began to get into the swing of the party, he called to his Raichu father: "Not like they won't hear it again in three years," The King laughed and bowed to Caine, who gave a half hearted salute.

"Finally!" Caine's brother, Tanlos, said. He had appeared behind the throne, the Sneasel three years younger than his older brother. He was also carrying a plate of food, which made Caine signal to Plius. Although his friend, Plius was also a servant, but one of Caine's closest friends made things much easier for the young Snorunt. Plius bounced up with a plate of food, and Caine set it on the table before him, picking at it as he talked.

"Caine," His father came up, making him look back over the Prince Throne. "You know your responsibilities right?"

"Yeah, yeah," Caine made another wave of his claw. "Study of Law, find a wife," He made a face. The idea wasn't particularly appealing to him. "Learn to fight, warfare, yada yada," He looked up at his dad. "Go have fun!" He raised a goblet of drink as he looked around.

After hours had passed, the sun had gone down, and lights brought up, Caine was sitting in his chair, draped practically, the goblet being twirled in a circle in his claw. He looked towards the butler, making a waving motion. The butler nodded and stepped forth.

"And now, the Entertainment for this Soire: the Bellian Troupe!" The Butler said, the Gallade opening the doors psychically. Caine sighed, a little annoyed. He watches the Troupe, wondering which were slaves. He shook his head, but played his part, laughing when appropriate, sighing when the rest of the audience cried or whimpered. The Weavile was staring at the ceiling when the last act went on, but came out of his musings when he heard Plius and Tanlos gasp. The Weavile looked and his own breath caught.

"Tonight, a real treat:" The Leader of the Bellian Troupe said. "A show that has never been performed on the stage, especially performed for his Highness's birthday, may it please him?" The Leader bowed. Caine twisted, sitting forward and watching the sight that had made the three males stunned. Not just the three of them, but most in the audience that could see. A female Furret, clearly scared, her gaze not meeting a soul's. She was restless and clearly didn't want to be there. Caine noticed something was off, but couldn't quite figure out what, besides noticing that she was beyond cute, her head bowed just as deeply as the Leader's, if not more so.

Defiantly a slave, Caine thought as he nods to the Leader. "A pleasure to be sure, depending on the performance," He says, his claws folded and holding his head up. The Leader signaled off the ballroom floor, and the lights went out. After a few minutes, drums sounded, a tribal beat filling the castle's ballroom. A single spotlight hit the Furret, who had moved to lay on her back. Her eyes were closed and Caine's sharp Weavile hearing heard her whimper. She bounced her middle body with the drums, her tail twitching a bit before in one fluid motion spun to her feet. That's when it hit Caine what was so different about the Furret: her fur was pink where it should be brown, and white where it should be tan.

She went through her routine, rigorous and showing off her fur and flexibility. Caine heard every swearing under her breathing, her whimpers as she messed up a trick. His heart went out to her, he couldn't tear his gaze from her, barely registering the clapping in time the audience was doing. As she ended her dance, she landed in a bow on all fours towards him, the lights going out. He kept leaned forward as the lights came up, and she stayed bowed, but looked up and he winked, making her blush.

"Elacia, that is enough, you are to-" The Leader spoke, but stopped when Caine held up his hand. The Scyther Leader looked angry, but bowed.

"Sir Trino," Caine said, standing up. "Why not let her stay and enjoy the festivities?" Caine asked, moving around the table to walk towards the dance floor.

"Because she's" Sir Trino stuttered.

"Can you not even say it?" Caine asked, reaching Elacia. He scratches the top of her head gently, and he heard her yelp and she pulled away, coming out of her bow and whimpering, her eyes going wide as she went to bow again. Caine shook his head at her and she stopped. He turned back to Sir Trino, a black glare in the Weavile's eyes. "Go ahead, Trino, say what she is." He growled, his talon turning blue. "You of all people should be able to say it," He pointed his talon at Trino. The Scyther still didn't say a word, their glares meeting and a unearthly silence fell over the ballroom. Slavery was accepted and allowed within the kingdom, but that view was greatly improving with Caine. The Prince was a known advocate for no slavery, so why the Leader had even dreamed of bringing a slave here was unfathomable to most in the audience. They had seen many dramas that night, but this was unscripted and had all of theirs' attention.

Caine glared even darker at the Scyther and swung his claw, a scything arc of Ice energy flying at the Scyther. Trino blocked it and charged, blades angled as not to kill. Attacking anybody, even the Prince, was fine, as long as they had just cause to attack first, but even a slaver won't kill the High Prince.

The Scyther kicked off the ground, spinning in a circle with his arms outstretched. Caine threw up a wall of ice, which slowed and stunned enough for the Weavile to flip kick the Scyther in his chin, Trino collapsing in a faint. Caine nodded to the butler, and the Leader was dragged off to the infirmary. Caine clapped his claws together, both in applause for the dancing and to get the audience's attention. "The Bellian Troupe members are to stay and enjoy themselves, even those who did not perform." He signaled to the band, who started a song. The rest of the night was for dancing and socializing, and it was tradition for the Prince to have the first dance. He turned to Elacia, who had bowed again. He bowed back, offering his talon to her. She knew what he was meaning and shook her head, surprised and her eyes wide. He chuckled, moving closer and taking her paw, giving it a gentle squeeze. She meeped and tried to pull away, but he shook his head.

He pulled her in close and began to dance with her, leading her as she wouldn't meet his gaze. Arceus, she's cute, He thought, looking at her and chuckling. He couldn't tell under the pink fur, but he thought she was blushing. He danced with her for three songs before taking her by the hand outside under the moonlight. He took her just outside the ballroom, where the music could still be heard, but nobody could see them. He sat on a wall, and chuckles as he makes her twirl in front of him. When he finally let her paw go, she didn't seem to want to let go, holding onto it briefly before letting it go. He took her paw again, and now he knew she was blushing furiously.

"You were very beautiful tonight, Elacia," He whispered, sliding off the wall and standing what would be eye to eye with her if she would look at him. She started to give a little bow before he used his other talon to stop her from doing so. "Don't bow to me, Elacia," He said.

"Thank you sir," She said. He smiled, liking the sound of her flute like voice.

"No need for sir," He said. "Caine is fine, please," He smiled, letting his talon drop from her chin, petting down her neck gently before sitting, motioning for her to sit with him. She does and he lets go of her paw to wrap it around her waist, but used his free talon to hold her paw again. She whimpered slightly, but doesn't pull away again. "What's wrong Elacia?" He asked her softly.

"You're just after me for" She whimpered again. He blinked and rubbed her side gently. "I mean, it's okay, they told me it would happen eventually" He shook his head.

"You're expecting me to rape you?" He asked softly. "Not at all, even if it did cross my mind, but I'm not a devil." He shook his head again. She meeped, hearing rape, but slowly nodded her head. He looked at her and gives her hand a squeeze. She smiled for the first time and rested her head on his shoulder. They stayed like that for a bit until she nuzzled into his neck. He chuckled and pulled her closer, making her yelp in surprise. He smirked as she blushed and she hit his chest, giggling. "Fireball," He teased. "Glad they didn't do a good enough job,"

"So, what did you want to do Caine?" She asked with a blush, her tail swaying behind her. He shrugged.

"Oh, I don't know dance some more, just the two of us." He said softly. "Maybe go out on a date later, who knows?" He blushed a little, scratching the back of his head with a nervous smile. "Sorry, that just kind-" She put her paw on his mouth and nodded. She pulled him back up to dance, and he smiled, putting his arms around her sides and holding her close. The music was still drums, what they could hear of it. She smiled at him, her head on his chest as they danced. She was obviously enjoying it, twirling wholeheartedly before twirling back into him, brushing her fur against him. He chuckles and whispered to her a song and a promise as she spun into him, her back to him and his arms wrapped around her belly:

The Moon shall set, The Moon shall rise,
Away we go, Away we go,
Shall we meet again? I hope so, hope so,
If I could, I would hold you here forever,
Keep you from all, held by none but me.

She giggled, burying her face in his chest again. She holds onto his chest as they sway a bit and he keeps his mouth presses against her forehead. The moonlight was the only thing lighting them now, the party ended. Caine sighed after a while, giving her a tight hug. "Cia, we really should get you home, I need to apologize to Sir Trino," He said. She whimpered and he ran a talon claw along her cheek. "I know," He whispered. "But it's so late," He looked into her eyes, seeing the moon. "I'm really sorry," He takes her paw in his and walked with her silently back. He stopped, seeing a rolled up bunch of parchment with the official seal on them. His abrupt stop made her arm jerk and the Furret looked back. Her eyes went wide when she saw the parchment. "No way" She breathed.

Caine picked them up and broke the seal. The papers unrolled, but all he saw was the heading and name before he flung them away. Elacia looked to him, whimpering. He sighed, picking the papers back up and handing them to her. She looked at them, not saying a word before her eyes get even wider. She folded the papers carefully before handing them back to Caine and cuddling up to him. He looked at what the papers before he flung them again seeing : Owner: Sir Trino, King Caine III, Happy Birthday, Son. Caine wrapped his arms back around her, giving her a tight hug. He chuckled and she looked up at him.

"Guess we gotta find you somewhere to spend the night, don't we?" He chuckled with a smirk. Her ears folded back and he blinked, confused. She shook her head, biting her lip. He tilted her head to look at her, his gaze telling her to spill.

"I don't think I'm ready for that" She said, looking away from him, her tail twitching heavily. He blinked, thinking about what he said and then shook his head.

"Nor did I mean it that way," He whispered, the Weavile petting along her neck and shoulder. She smiled and kissed his cheek as he continued. "I meant maybe get you a room in the castle for a bit," He took her paw again, sliding his talons between her digits. She smiled and walked alongside him.

Later that night, Caine woke to seeing a Furret in his doorway. "I can't sleep," A flute like voice said. He smirked and motioned for her to join him; she bounded over to him on all fours, sliding beneath the blankets and nuzzling into his chest, holding his talon. She was asleep within seconds.
