      Well you could spend more time on the pics so you can work on the outlines and details a bit more.
      You're just too spoiled from Freehand, photoshop & Co. but if you keep it up a bit you'll learn that you don't need a great program to make great pictures.
      Maybe you'll also grow a bit more patient with oekaki pics.

      Anyway what you draw right now isn't bad.
      It only needs cleaner outlines and a bit of work on the shading. (try not to mix solid and anti-aliased/ airbrushed stuff!)

      Well I don't need all those filter stuff photoshop has.
      I have photoshop but I mainly use it for pixeling so I don't really have that much of a problem switching to oekaki programs since I don't miss any features.
      Also photoshop can't do those funky progress animations.
