This is like something to empty my head because until I find the flash drive with the Myst series on it I'm screwed, so this is to keep you entertained in the meantime.
Chapter 1: Welcome to Littleroot
Jack's Journey
by: Demonhunter7302
Jack grunted as he was vaulted forward. Every time the moving van accelerated or braked the van would lurch without warning. As he fixed his hat back upright onto his head he swore under his breath. Never again would he let his mom convince him to sit in the back of the moving van.
Jack was 17 years old, and his dream was to become a Pokemon trainer. Unlike all the other kids who, at the ages of 10-12, rushed out into the world to start on their journey, Jack decided his education was more important. Finally out of the Advanced Poke' academy in pallet town, his mom surprised him by informing him of their imminent move to the town of Littleroot. At first he was angry; but soon he started thinking of the positives, he was ecstatic about finally being able to go on his own Pokemon journey, but moving to a new region made him even more excited. Not only did he have a new region to explore, but most of his friends were traveling also; as well as his father being the Gym Leader of the town right next to the one they were moving to.
Another lurch of the van brought Jack out of his flashback and back into the real world. Just in time to see the boxes behind him tilting precariously before falling on top of him. The van door opened causing light to shine into the cabin as Jack's mom walked inside.
"Well Jack, here you are!" The end of her sentence dragged off as she scanned the back, seeing no sight of her son.
Jack raised his arm weakly and made a thumbs-up toward her, causing his Mom to stifle a laugh.
"Honey, why don't you go up to your room and make sure everything is to your liking?"
Jack nodded and walked up the stairs to his bedroom. The first thing he did once up there was grab his backpack off the bed. Next he picked up his notebook from the desk in the corner opposite to the bed. Jack thought it was around maybe one-o-clock pm, but with him about to be adventuring into the outside world he didn't feel much need to set his clock.
"Jack!"
"Yeah mom?"
"Are you almost ready?" She asked, it was clear she was on the verge of tears.
Jack took one quick look around the room and turned back to his door when his computer made a beeping noise. He quickly set his bag down and turned on his monitor, the email icon flashing. Once he clicked it the beeping stopped and was replaced by a message from May; they had been in contact ever since he first talked to her dad, Professor Birch, two weeks before today. Since then they stayed in constant contact.
To: Jack
From: May
Hey Jack! Sorry I wasn't there to great you in person, you know how I like to go out and explore. Anyway I should be getting home soon so I'll see you when I get there?
Jack smiled and typed in his reply
To: May
From: Jack
Sure, can't wait to finally meet you I person.
Signed, Jack Talon
Jack sent the reply and turned off his monitor. He scooped up his backpack on the way toward the stairwell and looked back to his room, the trees outside the window swaying with the wind. Finally, he would get to see the girl he had been dreaming about for the past two weeks.
Once Jack set foot into the living room his Mom immediately glued herself to him in a hug. She was crying and was making noises Jack guessed were supposed to be words.
"I'll miss you too mom, and I'll visit often! I promise."
Jack's mom let go, but was still crying, even as she followed him to the door, but as he opened it she stopped and wiped her eyes.
"I love you Jack."
"I love you too Mom." Jack said as he walked out the door and closed it. Once outside Jack took a deep breath and headed toward what he thought was Professor Birch's lab. Other than the gut feeling he wasn't quite sure, the houses all looking the same didn't help either. As he entered the building though he was greeted with shelves upon shelves of books, desks covered in books and papers, and a strange looking machine to his right.
"Professor Birch?" Jack called out. Footsteps then sounding over from the library soon after.
"Sorry, you just missed him, he is out doing research. You must be Jack, he told me to tell you to go and meet May, his daughter, first at his house. I don't know if she'll be there though, she is always out there exploring, just like her father." With that the researcher rushed back into the forest of literature and was gone.
Jack exited the building and headed toward the building across from his, This he knew was May's house. Or, at least, she told him it was. Jack rang the doorbell and a woman answered the door. Oh, you must be Jack, the new neighbor! May hasn't stopped talking about you since she heard from her father you were coming. It's so nice she's found a friend."
"Is she home?" Jack asked before she could say anything before him.
"No, sorry. But she should be home quite soon, why don't you come in and wait for her in her room, I'm sure she won't mind."
Jack nodded and walked in, closing the door after him. He walked upstairs and turned right, Jack opened the door and frowned a little. Whoever built the town's building had no creativity, her room was exactly in the same place his was in his house. Which meant that the room behind him was the master bedroom, and the room to his left was the bathroom. Jack walked into her room and set his pack onto her computer chair. He opened it up and pulled out his notebook, quickly sketching like a mini map of the town, and the different buildings. Once he was done he put it back into his backpack, zipped up the bag, then turned around just in time to have something bump into him with enough force that him and the object fell down. Jack looked up to see a girl in a red shirt and bandana on top of him.
"Jack?" She asked.
"May?" He asked in the same fashion.
May then quickly swept him up and pulled him into a tight hug, almost suffocating him.
"Finally, I get to meet you! When Dad told me his co-worker said you dropped by his lab, I rushed here as fast as I could!"
"I know, when I got your E-mail I got a little disappointed about not being able to greet you firsthand."
May pulled him into a tighter hug before releasing him, allowing him to breathe again. She then blushed hard looked away. "Sorry, I was just so excited..."
"It's okay."
May the walked toward her doorway, "I'll meet you at my father's lab, okay?"
"Sure." Jack said nodding. She then ran out of the room, obviously still pumped and excited. Jack waited awhile and also took his leave, after picking his backpack back up. On his way to the lab a little girl walked in front of him.
"Mister, are you a Pokemon trainer?"
"Uh... yeah?"
The little girl then pulled his shirt, motioning him toward the exit of town.
"The Pokemon outside are making weird noises, can you go investigate I'm scared."
Jack looked at the child, the last thing he wanted to do was fight a wild Pokemon with a Pokemon of his own. Despite his fear though, he nodded and hesitantly walked onto the route out of town. After a short walk a man with a beard ran out from the tall grass to his left, a Zigzagoon not too far behind.
"Ah! Help me! You, in my bag are some poke' balls. Grab one and help me!."
Jack quickly rushed over to the satchel on the ground and opened it. Without checking he reached his hand in and pulled out the first orb he felt. He pushed the button causing the poke' ball to enlarge and he then threw it toward the Zigzagoon and the man. Red light shot outward from inside the ball and materialized into a Pokemon Jack knew from school, Torchic.
Jack quickly ran through all the moves a early level Torchic would know just in case it was really low leveled.
"Torchic, scratch at it's eyes and blind it!" Jack yelled.
The Torchic didn't argue and swiftly jolted over to the wild Pokemon. It jumped in the air, outstretching it's talons as it descended, scratching the Zigzagoon face as it landed. The Zigzagoon, now blinded, was now angry. In retaliation it started tackling in all directions, making a figure eight in the grass. Jack picked up a rock and threw it into the bushes where the Zigzagoon appeared from. Hearing the noise the Zigzagoon bounded into the brush, leaving the two standing there panting from the excitement.
"So I take it you're Jack, Am I right?" The man started off. "I'm Professor Birch, and I'm pretty sure you've already met my daughter hmm?"
"Yeah... really...happy...to see... you guys finally." Jack said between gasps of air.
Professor Birch laughed and patted Jack's back, "Come, let's get back to the lab. I'm sure you can't wait to begin your journey!" Jack smiled and followed the Professor back into Littleroot.
"Alright now here is your trainer card, every time the standard carried six Pokemon change, are moved, or are replaced, insert your trainer card into the slot on the side of this, your poke' dex." The Professor put the card in and after a minute it popped out, a Torchic now in the first Pokemon slot. "Think of it as a gift from me for saving me. Anyway. As before mentioned, this is your poke' dex. It will record how many Pokemon you have seen as well as captured."
"Like an encyclopedia." Jack said
"Exactly, now then, May?"
May walked forward and put her hand out, five poke' balls in their miniature state on her palm. "We will also give you this, to start you off on your adventure." She said smiling. Professor Birch then took over again after Jack clipped the balls to his belt.
"May will accompany you on your journey so that way, While you are trying to become the Pokemon master, or fill your poke' dex, May can travel with you. Knowing how she battles and after watching you in battle Jack, I can say for sure you two will be unstoppable. Good luck Jack, and you too May."
Both Jack and May said thanks and ran outside and over to the city limit.
May pulled out a map and showed it to him, "Where do you want to head first?"
Jack thought about it and remember his Dad being a Gym Leader over in the next town over.
"How about petal burg, my father is the Gym Leader there."
May's eyes widened, "Cool! We'll have to take route 101 to Oldale town, Then go left and take route 102 to get to Petalburg city. If I'm right It should take us a day, we can camp out on route 102."
Jack nodded, "Sounds like a plan to me." He then pulled out his notebook and opened it. On the first page he wrote
1/07/2011 1:56
Got poke' dex and poke' balls.
1/07/2011 3:00
First destination with May: Petalburg, leaving at 3:10 pm.
Jack closed his notebook and put it back into his backpack.
"I like keeping a journal of things, just in case."
May nodded, understanding, and led the way down route 101. On their way to their Pokemon Journey, Jack's journey.Chapter End Notes:This took a whole night and I hope to update this weekly if I can... until next time, seeya
