Story Notes:

This is like something to empty my head because until I find the flash drive with the Myst series on it I'm screwed, so this is to keep you entertained in the meantime.

Chapter 2: A little detour

*****************************************************************
Jack walked shortly behind May, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't think of anything that he could use to start a conversation.
'Should I ask her about Pokemon? Should I ask her about herself? Argh, I don't want to sound like an idiot.' He thought to himself.

May then turned to face him, "Hey, can we stop at the poke' mart in Oldale town first? I need to get a few things and then we can continue."

Jack smiled, "Sure, take your time, It's not like the towns are going to vanish."

May grinned and quickly ran into the Poke' mart , leaving Jack to explore the town. Jack pulled the poke' ball with his Torchic out and tossed it into the air, releasing the bird Pokemon within.

"Tor... chi Torchic?" It said. Jack could only guess at what it wanted but didn't have time to ask before it jumped and pulled his Trainer card out of his pocket.

"Wha- Hey!" He went to grab it from the Pokemon's beak but the Torchic stopped him and with one talon pointed to his name.

"Oh, you want a name?" The Pokemon shook it's head vigorously. "Oh... what about... Talon?"

The Torchic thought for a moment then let out a satisfactory chirp. Jack smiled and took his card from Talon and placed it back into his pocket. Suddenly a large grey blur sped toward Talon and engulfed him. As quick as it happened it sped back to where is had come from. Jack did a double take and ran after the net around his Torchic. He followed the net into the forest and reached the kidnapper in time to see him put the Torchic into his black bag. With night falling Jack knew it would be too hard to follow him, especially since the attacker was wearing black.

"Mightyena, tear him apart." The man growled under his breath.

Jack looked around the dense forest, hoping to find where the Mightyena would attack him from. Mightyena were vicious, not even to mention the trainer may have trained it to kill more efficiently. There, a rustle from the right, Jack turned and got into a defensive stance that would protect his face and body, but was knocked down by something behind him.

It toyed with him. It played him for a fool to get into his guard and now it was on his back growling. Jack tried to throw it off but met with the canine's claws piercing into his back, tearing his shirt and skin. Jack yelled and elbow it in the face, causing it to fall in surprise. It again braced itself for another jump as Jack got back up and this time Jack was ready. The Mightyena leapt toward him and Jack put his arm up. Jack yelled out again in pain as the Pokemon's teeth pierced through his arm and muscle. Blood poured from his back and arm. Jack fell, he was on the verge of passing out from blood loss, meanwhile the Mightyena continued jerking Jack's arm around like it was a play toy. The Mightyena stopped once the man in the black outfit whistled. Three other people laden in black popped out of the bushes and picked Jack up.

May walked out of the store and looked around for Jack. When she didn't see him she quickly ran around the town, asking if people saw him. May ran toward the forest on the right where one of the old men said he heard noises and yelling. May quickly sent out her Torchic and told it to search for anything that would tell her where jack went. Almost suddenly the bird Pokemon came back carrying a notebook with a brown cover. May opened it thinking maybe Jack dropped it.

May walked into Pokemon center to get supplies.

Named Torchic, Talon.

May flipped through the book, the rest of the pages were blank except the last one, which was wet with something dark red. May would've thought it was ink if not for the fact Jack used pencils...

"Torchic, can you show me where you found this?"

The Torchic chirped it's affirmative and walked May over to the backpack she pulled it from. May quickly recalled the Torchic into it's poke' ball and knelt down next to the bag. Teeth and claw marks were abundant and everything inside was torn up beyond repair. She placed her hand on the ground to keep her from falling and quickly brought it up, causing her to fall in whatever she put her hand in. She quickly jumped up and looked at her glove, the red liquid shined in the moonlight. She then knelt down next to the puddle of what she was hoping wasn't blood and picked up a shimmering red card. She shook the card to clean it and turned it over.... It was Jack's trainer card...

Jack opened his eyes slowly, every part of his body ached. Looking around as best he could without turning his head showed him he was in a grey, brick room. The bed was cold, and it made his injuries sting more. Gritting his teeth he struggled to sit up, and once he did he regretted it. He was in some form of a prison, with only a bed, a toilet, and his torn clothes on the floor against the opposite wall. Looking down at his left arm it was covered in bandages quite badly, like an amateur did it. Red circles and yellow liquid seeped from the bandages on his arm. Jack tried moving his arm, but it just wouldn't function. 'Dammit, that Mightyena must've torn up all the nerves.' He thought angrily.

As he got out of the bed he grit his teeth harder, his back receiving a sharp pain. After he was up on his feet he limped over to the pile of clothes on the other side of the room. It used to be his older brother's Pokemon Ranger field outfit. His brother died one day, trying to save an Umbreon from Team Magma. The grunt's Torkoal had used earthquake and the cave had collapsed on both him and the grunt. The umbreon survived and had informed the other Rangers apparently. From that day Jack promised himself that once he was out into the world, he would wear the outfit as a sign of honor.
Now he sat there with his right fist clenched, the shirt was torn beyond belief, but the jacket was in better shape. The only thing wrong with the jacket were the three scratch marks from the Mightyena. Jack dropped the torn shirt and picked up the black prisinor shirt. He then proceeded to put the ranger jacket over the shirt, making it look like nothing had changed. Now that he felt better he looked for a means of escape.

May ran into the Police station in a panic. Blood covered half her body from when she fell into the puddle. Officer Jenny quickly jumped up from her desk in surprise.

"Oh my god! May, what happened?!?"

May tried to talk but the words were lost between sobs and chokes. Nurse Joy walked in, she had heard the commotion from the Poke' center nearby. She quickly stopped and ran over to the girl who was now on the floor, unconscious.

Nurse Joy looked up to the Officer, " What happened here? Officer Jenny shrugged quickly and pulled out the trainer card in her hand.

Jack sat against the wall, he bumped his head against the wall over and over, bored. He had lost track of time but he was sure he had been in the Prison for about a week, maybe more. Another Guard came over and dropped Jack's food for the day into his cell. Once the guard walked off Jack crawled over to the dish and picked up the cup. A piece of paper lay there and he read it.

Hey, us Rangers got to stick together right? The key will unlock your cell, go right and there will be a room full of poke' balls. Yours is number 216 I believe. P.S. I hope you're thirsty.

Jack read the note over again and shrugged. Why did it mater if he was thirsty, he thought as he brought the cup to his mouth and drank the water. He choked as something hard entered his mouth. He spat it out and a key clinked to the ground. He grabbed it up and limped over to the cell door. He put the key in and turned it. So far things were looking up for him. He then whispered a "Yes" as the door slid open. He peered around the door into the hallway. Seeing no one there, he quickly hobbled to the right and opened the door. He was greeted by shelves upon shelves of stolen Poke' balls. Jack sighed, Talon was important, but all the other Pokemon were important to others too. He needed a way to carry them and with one hand that would be hard.

Jack then snapped as a light went off in his head. Quickly he walked down the aisles until he felt he had reached a Poke' ball containing a psychic Pokemon. He grabbed it and engaged it, the familiar red light escaped and formed an Alakazam.

"Alaka."

Jack pumped his fist, "Listen, I'm here to free you but you need to stay silent." The Pokemon gave a nod. "We need to teleport all of these poke' balls to the Pokemon center as well as ourselves can you do that?"

The Alakazam closed it's eyes and concentrated, all the Poke' balls started glowing purple and vibrated. Suddenly they all disappeared. Just as the Alakazam was about to teleport Jack and itself, one of the grunts entered the room.

"What the- Hey! Intruder!" But his words were drowned out as the two disappeared in a flash of purple light.
