Our Hero Awakens
Chapter 5: Our Hero Awakens
(Somewhere inside Mt. Ember, on Knot Island)
Deep within the caverns of Mt. Ember lay, asleep, a powerful human. The human looked young, but was actually old. At nearly one thousand years old, Eon was once the ruler of power, but thanks to the encounters with family, he had been stripped of his glory, and was now nothing but a mere immortal being stranded on Earth, until the day of his awakening.
As he lay asleep, he dreamt, and what he dreamt of was this: Eon sat motionless on top Mt. Ember, right next to the deep hole that led straight into the lava. He looked down to the lava, and with his line of vision, he could see everything he wanted to. To a human, he would have 100/100 vision, or better. His eyes were very well trained to find, or hunt anyone, or anything. What Eon saw at the bottom, was the burning hot lava, and molten rock. But beyond that, he saw his prized possession, the Cold Stone, also known as Venix. It was his sword, which was seven feet in length, and weighed about two hundred and forty pounds. Luckily, being him, Eon could lift the sword with ease. The question was, however, how was he going to get his sword out from the lava? “There must be a way.” Eon told himself, as he cracked his knuckles, and jumped down into the large hold, and towards the lava. Right before he reached the lava, Eon grabbed hold of a large cliff, and slung himself over to a rock, which was in the center of the lava. The lava beneath him boiled, and spit out at him. Luckily, Eon dodged, and the lava missed him. What was he afraid of? Lava couldn’t kill him. Nothing could. He was immortal. Out of all his years of life, he had never been harmed in any way, because of his immortality.
Eon gazed through the lava again and saw Venix. Again, he thought of ways to retrieve his blade, but found none. Then, out from the lava, came a fire-like bird Pokemon, the legendary Moltres. The bird Pokemon flew up and out of the volcano, as lava fell from it’s tail feathers. Eon had always wanted to see a legendary Pokemon, but out of a thousand years, he had never once gotten the chance.
Then he woke.
It had been two years since Eon had awaken from his slumber. He had originally chosen to stay asleep, since there was nothing more for him to do on this planet, but rot, until the day Arceus would return, but at this point, that seemed hopeless. Arceus had been gone since the Battle of the Heavens, and no one had seen or heard from him since. For all Eon could know, Arceus could be dead, and Darkrai could be ruling the Universe, as we know it. Yet again, that couldn’t be true, for Darkrai would have destroyed this planet by now, if that was the case. So both the gods, Dark and Light, were still hidden in another dimension. Where? No one knew. Hundreds of Pokemon with the psychic abilities they had inherited from Arceus had tried to find the void to the dimension where Darkrai and Arceus were held prisoner, but none had succeeded.
“Damn.” Eon cursed. “This world is so vile towards me, and yet, I feel as if I need to protect it, but why? No one cares that I protect it! I’m basically another tool in this cesspool of a planet! So why the hell am I still alive for!” Eon was utterly pissed off that he had to continue to live on with his boring life, because Arceus wasn’t back yet. That was the law bestowed upon Eon. He must stay on Earth, until the God of the Stars, or Guardian of the Stars, would return and set him free, but that plan was dying away fast, and no one could stop it.
Eon stood and walked out of his small cavern, which was hidden within the caverns of Mt. Ember. He chose the deepest and darkest part of the entire mountain, as to stay away from human and Pokemon societies. He hated to be seen, since he couldn’t do much anymore, but protect people that weren’t worth saving.
“What’s the use of this world, anymore.” Eon spoke, sadly. “Where are you Arceus? If you were a true god, why have you abandoned us?!” Eon began to feel alone, again, which right now, was beginning to become a everyday thing in his life. He was always alone, ever since he was only a boy of seventeen years old. He can still remember the day the god Arceus granted him immortality…
(A Few Hundred Years Previous, in a small village near a snowy mountain)
Eon, seventeen, gazed down at his newborn child. He was young father, and loved his girlfriend, which was to wed him in only a few weeks time. His first son. His only son, Jaden. Eon lifted Jaden into his arms, and kissed the newborn on the forehead. He loved his child, and he would protect him forever, no matter what. That became Eon’s job: protect Jaden. A few hours passed after the birth of his son, when a light came from the heavens, and the great god, Arceus spoke to him, saying, My child. Offer me your son, and I shall reward you. For I need a servant. A right-hand man so to speak. But I need one of pure heart, and that is your son, Jaden.
“But, my lord, he has just been born.” Eon tried. “Why ask of him now. Why not when he gets older. Let him grow. Let him have a father, and a mother. Please.” Arceus smiled. Eon, please, my child. Offer up your son, and you shall be rewarded greatly for it, because I shall use your son in greatness, and teach him the great powers of life.
“My lord.” Eon bowed. “I offer my son, not because of the reward, but because you have asked it of me, and I believe that you are our one true god. Please, my lord, I shall not linger. Take him. He is yours.” Arceus gave no answer, took Jaden, and gave Eon eternal life, but at a cost, that Eon was not aware of, his wife would not receive immortality, and would later die of old age. Eon was alone then, and began his slow journey of life, into the days and nights of our world. ----------------------------------------------------------
(Present)
“He was my only son.” Eon said to himself, remembering his son, Jaden. “And I gave him up, for nothing.” Eon sat down, and looked over to the boiling lava. He looked hard into it, and saw the sword at the bottom, Venix, from his dreams. He had no idea why his sword was lying at the bottom of lava, but he had to get it out. It was his only possession left in life, besides his own life.
With a great leap, Eon jumped into the burning lava. Normally, a human would burn to death in the lava. He was immortal. He couldn’t die. Not now, not ever. Eon swam to the bottom of the lava, and retrieved the sword, which was steaming hot from it’s sort-term home under the lava of Mt. Ember.
Eon lifted the blade high into the air, showing off it’s massive glory to all around him. It’s blue tint in the blade illuminated in the darkness of the caverns, and it’s power also illuminated from the sword. All Eon could do was look upon the blade, and smile. It was the sword his father, Xander, had given him when he was only a mere twelve year old boy. He raised that sword proudly, with a grin, and then, that grin faded. He remembered Jaden and his wife again. He remembered holding his baby in his arms.
“Jaden.” He said to himself, as a mere whisper.
(Later that Night)
When the moon came out, and the sun went down to its resting place, Eon heard and felt a great and powerful disturbance out in the world. It was of great and dark power, full of evil, and it felt as if it would consume Eon if he hadn’t had the will to fight it off.
“This is why I awoke from my slumbers. A disturbance grows out there, and I was awaken to find and stop it.” Eon stood proud, and jumped off the cliff at the top where the hole was, and began to fall thousands of feet down, until he would later reach the bottom. His journey was just beginning, and a new battle was on it’s way.
