Chapter 3 - A Fighter's Salvation, pt 1
"So, that must be the gym there." Lucky said, drawing Wolf's gaze to where she was pointing. The building she indicated looked from the outside like a quaint little hotel, but the sign hanging over its front door marked it out as Striaton City's pokemon gym. Wolf frowned, but walked towards it with Lucky in tow nonetheless.
As they opened the door and walked in, the inside of the building made them pause again. Now that they had entered, it once more looked nothing like a gym, the area they were in resembling the entrance hall of a restaurant. The Elite blinked in confusion, before shaking his head and deciding to ask the ma®tre d' what he needed to know.
"Uh, excuse me." Wolf started, moving towards the head waiter. "Is this really the pokemon gym?" The ma®tre d' smiled at him, setting down his pencil.
"It is indeed." He replied, gesturing towards the stage, where the veteran trainer noticed for the first time the field outlines. "In the Striaton Gym we believe in the phrase 'dinner and a show.' Our gym leaders feel that gym battles, being fundamentally more exciting than a standard pokemon battle, should serve as entertainment and that the spectators should be comfortable and well fed during such battles." Wolf perked up at the plural of gym leader, focussing back on the ma®tre d'.
"Gym leaders? So there's two of them?" he asked, reminded of Tate and Liza from Mossdeep City back in Hoenn.
"Three, actually." A voice came from behind him, prompting Wolf and Lucky to turn around. Three young guys dressed as waiters, had come to the entrance hall to greet him. The one that had spoken had dark blue hair framing his face, smiling at Wolf in genuine welcome. To his left stood a taller, green haired guy who seemed to be looking between Wolf and Lucky with interest, and the trio were completed by an energetic, red haired guy who looked ready for anything. "I'm Cress, and these are my brothers Cilan and Chili." Wolf nodded politely to each in turn, before indicating himself and Lucky.
"I'm Wolf, from Hoenn, and this is Lucky." He said, the Lucario following his lead and nodding a greeting to the gym leaders. "She's been with me since we started our journey back home, so I'm sure this battle's going to be interesting..." Wolf trailed off, noticing the strange looks all three of them were giving her.
"Ehm... she's your first pokemon?" Cilan asked, shooting a glance at his brothers. "I think we might need to ask you to come back tomorrow then."
"Yeah, as awesome as it would be to battle right now we just don't know who's going to be representing us this battle!" Chili added. "You see, we choose which of us battles an opponent by their first pokemon, to test if they have the knowledge to overcome a type disadvantage."
"Since we haven't once seen a Lucario we're not sure who's going to battle, and if it's someone who might be battling another trainer we can't do two battles in one day!" Cress finished, all three bowing to Wolf. "We're really sorry about this, but by tomorrow we can come to an informed decision and test your abilities. Thanks for understanding!" Bowing once more, the gym leaders departed to attend to others while the ma®tre d' ushered Wolf and Lucky back out of the gym. For several seconds trainer and Lucario stared at each other, unsure of what just happened.
"Well, I guess we're going to have to find something else to do today." Wolf said finally, leading Lucky towards the northern road into the forest.
***
Sunlight streamed down into the forest as Wolf and Lucky strolled along the leaf strewn path, simply taking in the sights until they felt ready for lunch. They had passed some ruins, a number of Munna and Musharna watching them go curiously. Trainer and Lucario paid them no mind, neither of them really wanting to deal with other people or pokemon after being jerked around in the Striaton gym.
"I'm glad we got to take this little stroll." Wolf said, stretching his arms above his head for a second. "We've had a fairly odd start in Unova, so it might do some good to have a little extra training." Lucky nodded, letting one paw find its way into his hand.
"Definitely." She replied. "One day of training out of the three weeks we've been here is a little too relaxed for me, and I'm sure that Zapdos and Mewtwo would agree. At least this looks like a fairly open... what's that?" Wolf followed her paw as she indicated a fancy sign on the edge of the road, the lovers approaching until they could see a large, resort style building through the gap in the trees some distance away.
"The Deviant Resort..." Wolf read aloud, grimacing at the words. He stared at it for a few seconds before turning to Lucky, an exasperated look on his face. "Do we really want to know what this is?" The Lucario was spared having to answer as a throaty roar sounded behind them, the pair turning to see a young woman with light blue hair glaring at them, flanked by two Stoutland.
"You disgusting creep!" she yelled, waving a strange device that looked like a remote car control at him. "Pervert! You people who want to have sex with pokemon make me sick!"
"What?!" Wolf yelped, taking a step backwards in the face of her accusation. He shared a shocked glance with Lucky before he got his mind straight. "Who told you that?! 'cause it's definitely not what we're out here for!" She just glowered at him, pointing the control at him again.
"Don't lie to me!" she shouted. "Stoutland, use take down!" The pokemon let out a short growl before rushing Wolf and Lucky, though his innate battle instincts took over at the sight of the charging pokemon.
"Lucky, force palm!" he called out, his girlfriend leaping into action and ramming her paw squarely into the first Stoutland's muzzle, the charging pokemon flung back to its starting position under the impact. Lucky didn't even need Wolf's warning, jumping over the second Stoutland and launching an aura sphere into its back to knock it out cold. Once the dust had settled, Wolf glared indignantly over at the interloper, who now had a confused look on her face.
"Uh, did you just call her Lucky?" she asked, stunned.
"Yeah, but what's it to you?" he retorted, even as the Lucario moved back to his side. He watched as the girl's face went from confusion to surprise, bowing in apology to the Elite.
"Oh, please forgive me Wolf!" she cried. "I should've known you wouldn't be out here for that!"
***
Half an hour later Solana had explained the reason for her being out there to Wolf and Lucky, between yet more apologies for accusing the Elite of having sex with pokemon. He had waved them away in the interest of letting her believe it was true, not particularly sanguine about revealing his relationship with Lucky at all let alone after her sudden attack.
The pokemon ranger had taken them to their base of operations in Striaton City, a fairly simple building on the outside that upon entering gave Wolf the reassuring feel of a ready command post, bustling with the activity of three more rangers amongst the paperwork and maps strewn around the place. He glanced at Lucky, seeing the Lucario looking somewhat uncomfortable even after the apologies and Wolf's glossing over their true relationship. The trainer slipped a comforting arm around her, letting her know that he was there for her.
"Anywho, you said you were out there trying to catch someone visiting that resort." Wolf spoke up, drawing the head ranger's attention again. "It's safe to assume it has something to do with them having sex with pokemon, right?" Solana nodded, her light blue hair bobbing slightly at the movement.
"Yes, but I'd say it like 'raping pokemon.'" She replied, and Wolf could hear the anger in her voice. "We're not sure who's leading it, or how long they've been doing it, but that hell hole caters to bored rich people who want to indulge them in taboo activities. Namely, sex with pokemon, which from the little information we've been able to gather is strictly non-consensual."
"And they're charging top dollar for this?" Wolf asked rhetorically, a glare crossing his face. Sex with pokemon was one thing to him, rape was another. "That's just sick." Solana nodded, turning to face him.
"We've already tried to infiltrate one ranger in, but we haven't had any contact with him for a couple of days now." She said, her tone now worried. "I... we're fearing the worst. But we still need to get someone on the inside. Wolf, I'll understand if you say no, but will you go undercover for us?"
"I'll do it." He replied, taking a deep breath to steady himself. "I can't let that slide and not feel like scum."
"Thank you so much!" she cried, barely able to keep herself from hugging the air out of his lungs. "Oh, and you don't need to worry about going in there alone either. We've already got a disguise picked out for you as a business man and I'll be your secretary-" Solana was cut off as Lucky snorted at this proclamation, frowning at the Lucario in confusion.
"Don't take this the wrong way, but you have no chance of convincing them." She explained. "It's not that they won't believe Wolf, mind you. I can see in your aura that you won't be able to contain your anger once you're in close. But..." Lucky smiled, pressing one of Wolf's poke balls and calling out Mewtwo. "Mewtwo, could you please fetch Jane for me?" she asked, the psychic pokemon nodding quickly before vanishing before their eyes. Wolf looked at Lucky, puzzled at her request until Mewtwo returned with the ex-hunter, looking somewhat annoyed.
"Wolf, can you explain to me why your pokemon just dragged me off just as I was about to begin reading my book again?" she asked irritably, her eyes narrowing as she caught sight of the pokemon ranger. "And into the base of pokemon rangers, no less. Start talking." Solana was matching the ex-hunter's glare until Lucky stepped between the two women, her paws raised in a peaceful gesture.
"I called you here, because I think you'd be great for a little job we need to fill..." she said, a bright smile on her face.
***
One hour later Wolf and Jane were dressed and on their way to the Deviant Resort in a stretch limousine, commandeered by the pokemon rangers for such use. Wolf was wearing a plain black suit with a white formal shirt, the top button undone and forgoing a tie. He sported expensive looking shoes and a fancy watch to go with his frameless sunglasses, the Elite very much looking the part Solana had cast him for.
Jane was similarly well dressed, as befit the personal secretary of such an esteemed business man. She wore a black formal jacket and mini skirt, her stocking clad legs and expensive looking high heels shown off nicely. She also carried a small tablet pc, something expected by an employee of significant wealth. Solana and Lucky sat opposite them, though neither of them had changed their clothes at all. Lucky stared at Wolf with a worried look, even though he gave her a reassuring smile every so often.
"Now, while it would be great to record just things like the place itself and any information you can get from the scum working there, I don't expect them to tell you anything that sounds negative." Solana started, indicating the listening device and camera that Wolf had concealed in his jacket. "You'll need to talk to one of the pokemon as well, which is where that translator I gave you comes in." Wolf fished the small, circular device out of his top pocket and examined it, noting the small flexible strap designed to clip around a pokemon's neck and translate their words.
"Cool, I got it." He replied, putting the translator back in his pocket. "Get in, find a room with a pokemon, get the info and get out. I just wish I could do something to help immediately..." Solana nodded, giving him knowing look.
"You'll be doing more to help by getting the information out safely." She assured him. "One more thing, if you can find out who's running this operation we can prevent this from ever happening again." Solana paused as the limousine came to a stop, signifying their arrival. "All those pokemon and our associate are counting on you Wolf, so good luck and remember that we're here if you need us." Wolf nodded, waiting for Jane to open the door and hold it for him like the dutiful secretary she was playing. Adjustinng his glasses one final time, Wolf got out of the limousine and stood in front of the Deviant Resort, putting an arrogant look on his face.
It wasn't a very tall building, only standing two storeys tall but spreading out behind itself for some distance. The building itself was fairly modern looking, showing no brickwork and painted in an off-white colour that was easy to look at even in the sunlight. It reminded him of a golf club house at a high end course. They probably want to ease their clients, make them feel like they're doing nothing wrong, Wolf thought to himself, the whole thing succeeding in helping the Elite to show his contempt for the owner. He waved Jane forwards, waiting until the ex-hunter was three paces in front of him before continuing.
As Wolf entered the resort, the first thing he noticed was the receptionist typing away at a computer. She was taller than him by roughly half a foot, brown hair tied up into a bun. Even as he approached to stand in front of the desk, Jane beside him with a disapproving scowl as though her profession was being personally insulted by the woman who still hadn't noticed them. After a few more seconds of being ignored, Jane cleared her throat, drawing her attention and causing her to bang her knee on the bottom of the desk.
"Ouch! Er- I mean, welcome!" she cried out in a thick German accent, trying desperately not to bend over and clutch her knee. Wolf turned slightly to raise an eyebrow at Jane, who rolled her eyes in response. "Welcome to the Deviant Resort! My name is Nina, how may I help you?" Wolf stared at her incredulously for a second before responding.
"Indeed." Wolf said, feeling somewhat more intelligent in her presence. "One of my colleagues mentioned your establishment to me, and I decided to check it out for myself. So you can start with a tour." He intoned dryly, as though he felt the receptionist needed it spelt out for her. She nodded eagerly, not recognising the insult.
"Certainly." Nina replied, moving ungracefully out from behind the counter to indicate a hall to their right. "If you'd follow me, I can show you around." As she lead them further in, Wolf shared an incredulous glance with Jane.
"Can you understand that accent?" he whispered.
"Barely, sir." Jane murmured back, pretending to make a few notes on her tablet pc. Nina saw the movement, straightening her back reflexively. She halted before the first window, gesturing inside.
"The Deviant Resort was founded six years ago, in order to cater to a clientele that tired of the rather standard and repetitive selection provided by run-of-the-mill brothels." She began, letting the Elite and ex-hunter look into the window. Wolf had to bite his tongue to keep himself silent at the spectacle, a man who was having rough sex with a Lopunny that was chained face down, tears sliding into her fur and cries for help going unheeded and probably misinterpreted. As they watched, the man pulled out of her pussy and moved to her head, forcing himself into her mouth and finishing up quickly. He didn't even give the Lopunny a second glance as she coughed up a mixture of sperm and saliva onto the pillow next to her head, burying her face into the pillow as sobs shook her body.
"I didn't come here to watch someone else screwing a pokemon." He growled, trying to get Nina to get them away from the rape scene. Nina nodded, gesturing for them to follow her up the stairs. She paused by another window, gesturing for them to look in. They did, Wolf only continuing to look when he noticed that it was a Gothitelle chained up this time, the pokemon's frail body almost hidden underneath her obese user, the Elite puzzled at her presence as much as sickened.
"She's one of our more popular pokemon." Nina explained, not registering the filthy looks Wolf and Jane were giving her as anything other than a 'get on with it' expression. "I'll just need to... oh crap, I was supposed to get you to sign in before now!" The receptionist hurried back down to her post abruptly, allowing Wolf and Jane a chance to reflect on what they had just seen.
"Gothitelle are supposed to be psychic types aren't they? How come she doesn't just teleport away?" he asked, the ex-hunter taking another quick look in to confirm her suspicions.
"Black chains." She responded, almost as awestruck as disgusted. "Whoever's running this has serious money if they have even one set of those. They have the same psychic void properties that dark types have naturally." She explained, seeing Wolf's blank look. "They cost a fortune to make, and almost as much again to have the maker keep your name out of it." The trainer nodded, prevented from asking anything else by Nina's arrival, clutching a tablet with attached stylus and handing it to him.
"Here." She said breathlessly, the trainer guessing she had spent a minute or two rifling through her desk for the more than likely misplaced item. "Standard waiver form, and then the form for renting a pokemon from us. Sign here for the waiver, and then fill out what kind of pokemon you would like or click 'any' for categories if you don't... oh wait, we only have one girl available right now." She grinned apologetically, unfazed by Wolf's exasperated stare. He showed the tablet to Jane, letting her pretend to skim through it as a dutiful personal assistant would before she gave him a nod of approval. He quickly signed it, using the alias 'Erik Cunnington' Solana had given him and handing it back to her, receiving a room key in return. "Excellent! It's the last room on the left, and I'm sure you'll enjoy her immensely." Humming merrily due to what she must have thought was a job well done, Nina left the pair standing in the hallway and returned to her desk.
"I'll wait for you in the entrance hall, shall I?" Jane asked dryly, amazed once more by the woman's ineptitude. Wolf nodded, having already agreed that letting her stay in the entrance hall and keep an eye out for danger was the best course of action. As she departed, Wolf sighed and walked to the door he had been designated, checking the number on his key to make sure she had given him the right one. Marvelling for a second that it had been right, Wolf slowly inserted the key into the door and opened it.
Inside the room was fairly ritzy looking, giving Wolf the impression of a penthouse in a five star hotel. It almost looked royal, but he gave little more consideration to his surroundings and instead focussed on the poor Mienshao chained to the bed, looking at him in horror as he closed the door.
"Please no!" she yelled, and he could hear the desperation in his voice. "I don't want to do this! Just leave me alone!" She was already crying as Wolf quickly slipped the translator around her neck and activated it. For a few seconds it beeped, until finally her pleas were broadcast in the human tongue. She paused for a second, surprised, before looking at him in wonder.
"Relax, will you? I'm not here to rape you." Wolf said quietly, resisting the urge to place a comforting hand on her. With what she had been through, it could very easily be taken the wrong way. "I'm trying to get you and all the other pokemon saved, but I need your help. I need you to tell me everything you know about this place." At his statement, she burst into tears again, still looking miserable.
"We have to..." she choked, looking even worse as she knew what would happen. "They can see us, even when they're not out there!" Wolf flicked his gaze around the room, noticing what he had failed to appreciate on his entrance. At least four cameras were positioned around the room, and to Wolf's chagrin they had been placed with incredible cunning. No matter how he positioned himself, he wouldn't be able to fake sexual contact. He looked down at her, forlorn. It was no bother to him to have sex with a pokemon, but he felt bad for her.
"I..." he hesitated, before continuing. "I promise I'll be gentle." She nodded, even while a few tears trickled along her face. Wolf quickly stripped his pants and shoes, hoping to put Mienshao through as little anguish as possible. She watched as he positioned himself between her legs, leaning in to give her a quick hug before he pressed himself slowly into her body. She tensed up, her eyes screwed tightly shut as she waited for a pain that never came. She opened her eyes again in shock, looking down to see that he had indeed entered her, before looking back up at him. He smiled softly down at her, knowing that she was unused to such gentle treatment. "Okay, I'll go slowly so that you can still focus. I just need you to answer a few questions, can you do that?"
"I can try." She replied, watching him nod. He began to withdraw slowly, entering her again as gently as he promised her. She could feel his penis rubbing along her insides, but it only faintly distracted her and Mienshao found that she could focus without a problem.
"That's all I ask, and that you speak clearly." He assured her, glad that he was used to the higher body temperature of pokemon so that he could focus as well. "Now, can you tell me how long you've been here?" She shook her head, confirming Wolf's thoughts. "How about whether or not it's always been like this for you?"
"Things were okay when I was a Mienfoo." She answered, trying not to strain against the chains like she normally did. "When I evolved, he brought me to this room and chained me up... I thought he was just playing a game with me. Then he..." she trailed off, screwing her face up again in an effort to speak. "He... raped me. I tried to tell him to stop, but he didn't understand me. He kept saying how this was what I was for, and that it was the most..." she coughed quietly, trying to suppress the tears and be brave. "The most I could ever amount to." Wolf leaned forward, drawing her into a warm, comforting hug.
"Bastard." Wolf snarled under his breath, unable to stop himself. He took a deep breath, calming himself before he continued. "Do you know his name?" She shook her head again, moaning quietly as Wolf kept up his pace.
"Everyone just calls him 'Boss.'" She said mournfully. Wolf nodded, realising that there wouldn't be anything else she could tell him that wasn't purely incriminating. Wolf ran through the other questions Solana had bombarded him with in the travel there, Mienshao answering to the best of her ability, all the while continuing to have sex for the benefit of the cameras.
***
Jane sat in the entrance hall playing solitare on the tablet pc, a bored expression on her face as she waited for Wolf to return. She had one headphone in her ear, and was listening to his questioning with a mixture of pity and understanding. He had had no choice but to have sex with the pokemon, and she was determined to accept it as an act of necessity rather than taboo. Briefly she wondered how Flannery would react if she ever found out, then dismissed the idea as a moot point. Wolf wouldn't tell her, and saving Wigglytuff for her meant that Jane wouldn't even consider betraying him.
A sharp voice jerked her out of her thoughts, the ex-hunter looking up to see that three men were now at the reception desk, two of them obvious bodyguards. The third seemed to be talking with Nina, and by the looks of things she was certainly in over her head. This must be the boss, Jane thought to herself, focussing her attention on the group.
"He might have signed his name differently, but I know that the man you just put into our last vacant room is Wolf O'kai!" the boss was saying, Jane keeping herself composed thanks to her experience as a pokemon hunter. "Now get the bloody spare key!" Nina fumbled around in the draw for the key, finally getting it and rushing around to join him. It was only when he turned around to follow his panicking receptionist up to the room that Jane realised how it was he knew Wolf, fighting hard to keep the shock from her face.
Once they left her sight, Jane stood up and rushed out to get Solana. Wolf was going to need all the help he could get, and quickly.
***
"To hell with what Solana thinks." Wolf said aloud once the cameras couldn't get a clear look at him, sparing a moment to transform into his Lucario form and cut through the chains binding Mienshao, having carefully turned the camera away so that it was undetected. "I'm not letting you stay in this place one second longer." His razor sharp claws cut through the chains with ease, and the fighting type jumped up to give him a grateful hug.
"Thank you so much!" she wept, tears falling onto his chest as he got his pants and shoes back on quickly. "I can never repay you for this!" Wolf smiled at her softly, before turning to the door and pulling it open. He halted mid stride, unprepared for the person who was smirking down at him from the other side even as Mienshao backed away wimpering.
"Oh, you have got to be kidding." Wolf muttered, glaring right back at Chardon Lance.Chapter End Notes:Dum dum DUUUM!
I'll admit when I was writing Wolf's Story, I was never expecting to see Chardon Lance again and him to remain in the category of 'expendable characters' just as a way to get Jane in the story. For those of you who don't get who Jane and Chardon are, Chapter 13 - Trapping the Hunter (Wolf's Story) and Chapter 2 - Hunting Trip (Wolf's Journey) will explain it.
Hope you liked it
