Chapter Two - Witness Protection Program

It was the following day now after the previous day. Jonas had a mostly fitful sleep watching over Art and helping her get what sleep she could even dosing her with a couple hypnosises to help her get a decent sleep. They had packed the morning away gathering what they could take with them and having leave the rest to be shipped. Jonas had a simple small bag for his staff and couple items as he didn't need clothes. He had spent most of the morning in the office, making calls and getting everything ready for their trip waving Art away so he could keep focus on the job at hand. During the whole night while watching art, he was admiring her body his mind fighting with his eyes to see Art for what he was before, and not what he is now. He knew his lifetime friend was in that gorgeous raichu body , and it would take every ounce of willpower he had to stop himself from giving into his urges. He also knew their money wouldn't last long, even with the polices help, and would need some form of income and lab equipment. Time wasn't on their side, and he was worried if Art went on a heat it would be even harder to resist her body, or at least now show his shame in her presence. He places his hand over his eyes and shook his head with a sigh clearing his thoughts as he picks up the phone a final time calling the Jenny's and making sure everything was good and set for their trip.

Indeed Artemus did have herself a restless sleep most of the time, until finally exhaustion and some hypnosis had helped her stay asleep. It was nerve wracking, with the various unanswered questions running through her addled mind, the ever present conflict between her current gender and what she was born with, and her mind's insistence on replaying those nightmarish sequences. She feared them... and it made her fear herself more.

Eventually, she wakes to the intruding sunlight, the sounds of objects moving about, and her body refusing to stay napping in the day. Her clothing looked wrinkled - having never taken off what she did have on from the night before. She began to wonder how else her body would betray her... degrade her... long as she was stuck like this, long as she was receptive to that curse that could so very painfully kill her.

Jonas nods, as he talks before setting down the phone with another sigh. He types a few things on their laptop thankful rocket hadn't gotten to it and wiped it clean. "And that's it...time to finish and get out of here." He shutdown and closed the laptop, tucking it away in its carrying case and stands up looking around a moment. He moves to Art's room and pauses at the door, looking in to see how far she had gotten with packing.

Most of the necessaries were already in boxes... a duffel on the bed was left open, still being filled with what Art felt she'd need to have at all times with her - clothing, hygiene, the like. The sound of water stopping could be heard as the former geneticist puts away the last of the necessities, noting the difference in space there was... wondering how much longer until she'd need other... more embarrassing hygiene products. Ears remained drooped to the side of her head, using a brush to straighten out the 'ratty' hair, before zipping the duffel up. She could only sigh, feeling a heavy burden... but currently feeling more of defeat. Her tail simply dragged on the floor, her posture suggesting a deep depression in her mind.

Jonas frowns a bit, seeing her condition knowing things would start getting better for them. He looks over her luggage making sure she had what she could wear and use. He wouldn't push her to get new stuff till they were in Unova and could get her examined. He shook a bit internally, just knowing how well that would go over with her but they needed to make sure her new body was working and in good health. He took a breath looking up at her offering a smile. "Looks like we are all set; the shuttle will be here in about an hours' time. The movers will be here tomorrow to pack everything up and have it en route to our new home. Should arrive in about a month."

Art stopped herself in mid-thought when she heard his voice, looking up and seeing Jonas standing there, letting her know it was time. She could only nod and sigh... it wasn't just about her personal status. This was her hometown... all she knew about life growing up happened here... and she was effectively throwing it all away. It unnerved her in several ways. "Yea," she said again, her voice distant. "I guess this is it, huh..."

Jonas walks over placing a hand upon her shoulder rubbing it slightly. "I don't want to leave either, but it's better that we do. Think of this more as getting to start anew in a new place and make a name for yourself somewhere where you can do good." She shook in his touch... only nodding after a time. It didn't really make her feel any better... fearing what the people in this new region would say about her... or what she'd done. She picked up the duffel after zipping it shut, looking back at him. There wasn't anything left to do, but wait... "do you really think we'll be able to make it?" Jonas nods smiling at her moving behind her and bringing up his hand to get her to set down the bag. He then moves and starts massaging her shoulders gently adding some warmth to his hands hoping help her relax some. "Of course we'll make it Art. It'll be nice and peaceful there, and you can be yourself without anyone saying or thinking anything."

Her head simply lolls from side to side as Jonas touched her this way... even through the clothes, it still seemed to ease some very tense muscles for her, and indirectly calmed her down. For the moment, it allowed her to forget her troubles, her now-electric cheeks to ease, which caused some of her remaining 'hair' to build up in static. "What would I do without you?" she blurts out... in truth, she didn't know how she could handle any of this without the 'kazam at her side, looking out the window as she waits for their ride to the only airport in the region... and their exit from the region.

Jonas continues massaging her pulling any built up static from her and shifting his foot to touch the metal leg of their bed to ground himself. He smiles at her words leaning close and placing his forehead against back of herself and hums his mothers song to Art. "I wouldn't want to think of life without you, Art." He had his closed not realizing what he was saying his nose picking up on her scent and enjoying the closeness.

She leaned in to his touches then, the two sitting together. Closer together, in fact. She lolled her head to the side, as her body seemed to act separately from her drifting conscious, his influence helping to clear the stressing thoughts from her mind, lulling her into a relaxing state, sharing a seat together soon, with she sitting on his lap... a visual that would appear bordering on intimacy to any who would see, and didn't understand the context of their actions. Art sat, legs apart, on the 'kazam's lap, breathing slower, deeper, her eyes shut as her mind able to find simple serenity in this song...

Jonas feels her slip against him, so he sat upon the bed and lets her sit in his lap. He lets his hand slide up and down along her arms, losing himself somewhat to the moment. He had his eyes closed he just focusing upon getting his dear friend to feel better about what was happening. Time would be lost to them, a sudden horn blowing making him jump slightly, his arms having slipped around her body into a gentle embrace.

The sudden sound jars her senses back, looking about and seeing how the two held each other then, blushing softly... their arms were about each other, his about her waist and hers reaching for his back. Her cheeks rosed in surprise, as she then lets her grip off and gets back up to her feet. "That must be them," she comments again, reaching over to grab her duffle, setting it with the rest of their luggage to bring, blushing back at him before turning to answer the door.

Jonas opens his eyes and blinks looking at her then to the window nodding. He blushes too standing and shaking his head to clear his mind taking a breath. "Uh yeah...I'll go let them know we're coming." He grabs a couple suitcases and carries them out his mind thinking back to what just happened. They were embracing each other. He was just trying to calm her and they ended up like that. He looks down at himself with a sigh glad he didn't end up getting turned on from being so close. He loads the suitcases and informs the guy they had a couple more before moving back in and grabbing the last one and his bag "Come on, Art. The plane is waiting."

She didn't know how else to respond to what she was doing... what she felt in that position then. It felt very... serene. And yet seeing how they were when she opened her eyes made her feel dirty as well. She wanted to curse herself for what she was doing... like she was treading over yet another unspoken boundary. Taking a few more breaths to calm herself enough to leave the house... doing her best not to look back, knowing nostalgia would guilt her more. It hurt, leaving the place, knowing that it would be the last time she'd see her home land after today. Finally, the last of what they could bring was loaded, as she stepped inside, trying her best not to look back, and seeing who else was in the shuttle with them...

Jonas helps load their luggage and joins Art in the back seat. It was more a van than a bus and only they were in it. He looks at art as they started off, wanting to say something but stopping their embrace still fresh in his mind.

She could only remain in silence as they were pretty much alone together in the ride, making for a very quiet trip. She looked out the window then, seeing other trainers and people living out their lives... those who would likely never know what she has seen or encountered, or would even blink to know she was gone. This... saddened her for some reason. Knowing that she was leaving her home without at least the courtesy of closure... knowing that she might never be able to return again. It was difficult to fight back the tears then.

Jonas too remained silent for the whole trip. He could see the look Art had, and could think of nothing to help her feel better. The driver would look up at them in the rear view at times but would too remain silent. He calls out their arrival at the airport and pulls up to the doors to let them out. Jonas works with him to get their luggage on a rack and moves to get them checked in and all. Things thankfully moved without any problems their luggage getting sent to get loaded on the plane and he moves with Art to the gate.

"We know we're the victims here... they saw our testimony. Yet it feels wrong to be the ones exiled off our home like this," she could finally say, looking about as others either were too wrapped up in their own lives to register their presence, or stared, stunned at their first sight of a Pokémon-human hybrid for the first time. And knowing Team Rocket's persistence, they will undoubtedly continue trying until enough escape that it's no longer worth it to their bosses.

Jonas shook his head with a sigh reaching her and taking her paw in his. "Art, I was the one that requested this. They just wanted to move us around Kanto; I wanted to get us as far away as could. That is why we are going to Unova. Only those deemed safe and have passed the checks are allowed to go there. Unova has only recently opened its doors to the outside world, and they are very careful of who comes there. I want you to be safe and I thought only by getting you far as away from rocket as I could would be best." He looks at her a moment then looks back down wondering how she would react.

She listened to his words, and she couldn't reply... they did make a lot of logical, and rational sense. It was far away from Rocket... but it also meant far away from finding out if they'd ever get the justice they deserved. It also meant that they would be starting from scratch... with nobody else they cold contact or get help from... they'd really be on their own.

"I just hope that our 'foreign' money is actually worth anything out there," she comments. "were we at least getting a place to stay through witness protection from the police there?"

Jonas nods a couple times taking a breath glad she didn't hit him "Yes. I can't say too much here, but we have a home and our money has already been changed over. The home also is pre-furnished for us."

"That's a relief..." she sighed, her face relaxing then... at least it wouldn't be like sleeping on the floor until their shipments arrive. "... I'm going to miss it here," she comments, approaching the gate that would take them to the next plane to leave not only Kanto, but the continent altogether... and out of Team Rocket's influence. Jonas nods joining her in a sigh as they finish going through the detectors and all. The gate had a bit more protection than others it actually seeming sealed off from the rest of the airport. He sat down letting art sit beside him looking around "Quite a bit of security around. Guess they are still pretty protective of things." Art only nodded in reply, as she then was able to sit, and found herself leaning her head on his plated shoulder, looking past at the nearby windows, a forlorn gaze.

She could only carry a mixed reaction... sure, the scientific community had turned its back on her, left her for dead practically... but it was her homeland that she was leaving. The only place she really knew... her ears fell to the side as she searched to think of something to hang on to... but all that she would want to hang on to, was with her already. It seemed painful then, to think that the land that she called home, would have nothing left for her to want to remain for.

Jonas looks at Art seeing her distant gaze reaching over and rubbing her arm slowly. He hated to leave too but had ran through many scenarios already and this was the best one. He looks over to the board seeing they still had a few minutes before their plane could load. "Art, are you sure you're okay with this? I feel like I'm dragging you through all this, and you are fighting back in a way."

"... if I didn't resist somehow, would you believe it was me going with you?" she looked up at him, asking. She hated that this was the decision agreed upon by the police for her protection... but where else could they go without some danger of being recaptured by those hoodlums?

Jonas nods, smiling some. "Heh, yeah. always the stubborn one. Still I don't want to drag you away from here if you really want to stay. I just figured that Unova was the best place for us now. Besides I hear its very peaceful there and they have a huge amusement park half the size of a city. They have sports, museums, ruins, everything. Think of all of the regions around here and what they have, and combine it into one place."

She listened, but for now it didn't matter... there was little reason to stay anyways. They soon approach with their tickets in hand, entering the long hallway to their plane that would take them to the new region. "Maybe if we had a living already established out there, it wouldn't be so bad. Or family... or friends," she comments. "But Jonas, we don't have that. As far as the people of Unova are concerned, we are nobody. And as far as the police are concerned, they're hoping it stays that way. Without some help when we arrive, we have to be ready for the absolute worst when we do get there," she continued. "I want to believe it'd be better, but I know for a fact not to expect anything to be so rosy... not anymore."

Jonas nods as they walk, knowing she was very right about everything. It would be hard for them, and without some form of support it would be next to impossible. He thought some as they got to their seats and sat down. The plane was a smaller one, but more than capable to get them there fairly quickly and smoothly. "That is true Art, but I don't intend to let a few hardships get in our way. I will find a way for us to get funding, and the means to get you cured."

She smirked some, looking up at him... she had to admire his perseverance... even if it did seem like he was trying to take on the impossible. She then relaxed. "Well, if you weren't a rarity before to aspiring trainers wishing to breed their Pokémon, you certainly will be there," she comments, as she then packs away their carry-on luggage and sits back, watching others board and staying low in her seat, not wanting to draw more attention than she already was... even noticing a couple of Jenny's coming along for the flight. She hoped their presence wouldn't be necessary... but given their weapons, it didn't exactly help calm her.

Jonas smirks big looking at her, nodding. "Oh, yes. I definitely intend to introduce myself over there. Hmm maybe we could even do a few battles or something? I know they have a league there too. We could use it to help train you to use your powers and protect yourself."

She felt a weird elation for a moment, and relaxed as she sat up. "Well, that would be great and all, if they would allow me to go in and train. I am just not sure if they would," she comments, trying to keep her composure. Thankfully the small capacity meant they didn't have to wait long, as a peek outside showed the ramp way pulling away... the plane itself moving to the runway for takeoff.

"Well I don't think they would have a problem as you technically are more raichu then human now, but never know." Jonas gives a small shrug looking around not seeing any trainers on the plane and thankful for that. They did get a few looks though and a couple raised brows possibly wondering why he wasn't in a pokeball and wondering what Art was. Thankfully no one was questioning as they at last started lifting off he looking out the window as the ground starts to go away biding Kanto a final farewell, and hopefully team rocket.
Chapter End Notes:The two continue to wrestle with their emotions as they are now forcibly leaving their home land. It may be for their safety, but it sure didn't feel right. Stay tuned..
