Love Eon by scion_umbranos

Eveon

"Father...why...ugh..." I drop slowly to my knees as my vision starts to darken. The smell of my mother's death is still strong in the air as a faint silhouette of my father turning around and leaving the den is the last thing I see before I collapse on my side and black out.

"Well, he's breathing at least...what do you think happened to him?" my ears quivered at the voice of another and I stirred a little.

"Oh! I think he's awake...finally" I opened my eyes slowly and saw a blue face with black almond shaped eyes close to mine, she was bathing my brow with her cool tongue and backed off with a small smile on her lips.

"Ugh...wha..." I look around at the assembled pokemon in front of me, there was a Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Espeon and an Umbreon, though she stood a little off.

"We found you unconscious in a cave, you were pretty beat up too." I nodded and winced as it made my head throb painfully. The Vaporeon noticed my wince and nudged a berry to me.

"Here, this will help." I ate it slowly and felt a little better as it at least got rid of my aches. It allowed me to get into at least a sitting position and look at them without a blurry look to them.

I still swayed slightly as I looked at them and spoke "Who...are you all?"

The Espeon stepped forward "I'm Sola, that's Volta, Vaporis, Flara, and Umbra." They each nodded when their name was called and Umbra then decided to join us, her voice was smooth but had a hard edge behind it. "What's your name child?"

I looked up at her as she starred down at me with those ruby red eyes of hers "Vee...Miss Umbra." She nodded "Well, Vee...what happened here?"

I sighed quietly and my ears drooped "I'd...rather not say." She blinked "What? Why not?" after a few moments of my not answering, she nodded with understanding "Oh, I see...I understand, you tell us when your ready."

I nodded and smiled weakly "Thanks." She nodded and looked back at Sola "Can we go? I'd like to sleep in my own room instead of under a bush."

Sola smirked "Fine sister, " she turned to me "Vee? Do you think you can travel?" I nodded slowly "Yeah." She smiled and started to trot off, followed by everyone else "OK then, follow us." I did so and we arrived at a rather large den a few hours later.

I looked around once we got inside and my mouth hung open slightly when I saw the size of their den, it looked like a human could live here it was so big. "Be careful, you don't want to swallow a bug do you?" everyone laughed quietly when I closed my mouth with an audible click and blushed.

After everyone had gotten settled and eaten, I curled up and everyone curled up around me...'cept Umbra, who went into a separate room. I nudged Sola with my paw and she looked at me with tired eyes "Yes?"

"Why doesn't she sleep with us?" Sola blinked for a moment then nodded "Umbra? Well...though we all are sisters, her evolution has always been that of an outcast...and she took it to heart. She will never leave our side, but still keeps her distance none the less.

I looked at the small hole that she had crawled through and tilted my head "By the way...Vee, don't go into her room, she doesn't even allow us to do so and doesn't like it when we even peek in to ask her something." I nodded and went to sleep along with Sola.

**A few hours later**

A dim glowing woke me up and I opened my eyes to see the glowing was coming from Umbra's room. I got up slowly and leaped over the sleeping body of Sola, landing quietly and I crept slowly over to Umbra's room, my curiosity eating me alive. I finally got to the hole and poked my head in, I tilted my head in a bit of confusion as I saw Umbra staring through a hole in her room that let in a shaft of moonlight which struck directly on the ring on her forehead. All her rings were pulsing brightly while her eyes were closed and her lips moved but no words came out, like she was talking in her sleep.

I tried backing out but something hit the tip of my nose and I meeped in surprise. Umbra's eyes snapped open and she glared at me with a amount of anger in her eyes that made me look down in embarrassment. I felt a nip on my ears and winced a little when she held on "Come with me."

I nodded and yipped when she practically dragged me out of the den and sat me down on a stump. I trembled slightly in fear of what she might do to me and she boxed my ears with her paw "Stop that and look at me." I did so and flinched from the cold stare I got.

"What were you doing peeping in on me?" "I s-saw a glow from your room...and I got curious..." she snorted and I heard her mumble "Kits..." she shook her head and sighed "Well, look...don't do it again, alright? I don't like people spying on me." I nodded slowly and looked down in shame "Sorry..."

She sighed and lifted my chin up to meet her eyes, they were a little softer and I decided to ask something of her "What...were you doing? I just want to know..." she chuckled quietly "Only paying my respects to Her." She looks over my shoulder and I followed her gaze to look at the moon, it was full and bathing the forest in its silver glow.

I turned back to look at her and saw a certain peace in her body while she looked at the moon. A blush spread across my nose when thoughts of how beautiful she looked at that moment ran through my head and I pawed at my face to hide my blush and get rid of those thoughts.

She turned towards me and seemed to come out of her reverie "Anyways...c'mon, lets go back to bed." I nodded but stopped her with a bat at her tail from my paw. She turned around and tilted her head "Yes?" I thought for a moment and finally said something "Could...I pay respects with you?" she blinked in surprise and the barest hint of a smile pulled at her lips "Sure." I smiled and followed her inside with my tail giving the barest of wags.

We got back into her room and she lay down in the same position I found her, I lay in a awkward imitation of that pose and looked up at the moon through the small hole in the ceiling. "Alright, repeat after me..." I nodded and listened while she recited her prayer:

"Come. Listen
to my soul
as it sings
of its need to be free.
As it cries
to the mountains
and rivers that make it
so light.
When it feasts on the snows
that weigh down the bows
of a tree.
And it sings
of the beauty
of shadows
that dance in the night.

Rainbowed moon that floats over
the face
of a star dimpled night.
Frost rimed whiskers
that crackle
in time to
the scrunch of the snow.
Night birds shriek
and send echoes
that bounce from the glistening ice.
And the joy of
the soul
when north'n lights
scatter pinkngreen
glow.

Touch mysteries
edge
as Umbranos
floats on ghost wings.
And the old ancient stories
run riot
on free floating
mind.
Then the ears
prick and tense
for the sound of
some pre-history's being.
And the memories of childhood
think back
to the Bres I
might find.

Then it's
gone
as those seconds
of fantasy
draw to a close.
Those moments of joy
are pushed down
as I broach the porch light.
And a moment of whimsy
demands to know why
I must lose
the dreams of my childhood
that come
from a walk
in the night."

I spoke with her and my eyes closed along with hers as we recited it over and over again. The light behind my eyes intensified and I felt a welcoming warmth flow through my small body. I opened my eyes slowly and looked at the moon, the breath caught in my throat as it seemed to draw me in, everything in my vision blacked out, everything...except for the moon and its brilliant glow in the night sky.

A worried nudge at my side awakened me again and I opened my eyes to be looking into Umbra's ruby eyes, filled with worry. I sat up slowly and noticed the silver beam of moonlight was gone, replaced with one of the golden sunlight of morning.

"Your awake...good." I nodded and looked at Umbra "Yeah...what...happened?" she shook her head and sighed "You were opening yourself too much and were about to evolve...I stopped you though."

I winced "Oh...thanks..." she noticed my wince "You...wanted to evolve?" I nodded "Into an Umbreon, like me?" I nodded again and she seemed to have a puzzled look on her face. "But...Umbreon's aren't liked...so why would you want to?" I shook my head "Because...I feel more attuned to the moon and night than anything else, I like being nocturnal."

She looked at me oddly "Really?" I nodded and she got another one of those bare smiles "Just like I was when still an Eevee..."

I smiled back and groaned when a wave of burning heat rippled through my body, it felt like my bones were on fire and I yelped loud enough to wake everyone up. Umbra jumped back in startlement at my yelp and her eyes widened when I stood again and the pain receded.

I looked at her puzzled and had to think for a moment before a thought occurred "Umbra...did you...shrink?" she shook her head, which was now on level with mine, still with that wide-eyed look still on her face but didn't give any other answer.

"Umbra? I heard a yelp and OH...MY...GOD!" I turned around to see a shocked Sola, and a similar look on the faces of the others.

I tilted my head "...What?" a lock of some sort of hair fell in front of my left eyes and I blinked in surprise "What in..." I ran out and went to the small pond that was next to their den and gasped when I looked at my reflection.

I still looked like an Eevee, but I was taller and my fur only slightly darker, making me look like I had evolved. A single lock of hair went down from the top of my head and covered one of my eyes, it reached about a few inches longer than chin length if I looked down. My body was slender and muscular while my tail had grown longer and a bit thicker, the fluff around my neck had gone away except on the back where it traveled up my neck and connected to the lock of hair, almost looking like the mane of a horse. My muzzle also had grown slightly longer and looked like it should if I had evolved, only my eyes looked like an Umbreons, except brown instead of red. I looked at my paws and found that I could extend a set of claws, one from each digit, and each looking very sharp and dangerous, I smiled and saw a set of sharp, pointy teeth in my mouth that looked like they could rip through anything.

My longer and slightly ears perked and I turned to look at the sisters with as much shock on my face as on theirs. I noticed a faint blush across Umbra's nose as she looked me over. She turned her head away when she saw I had noticed her blush and it went away.

When I turned to look at the others, they all had a similar blush, but they only giggled and smiled when I blushed myself.

"Well Vee, it looks like you evolved into something new. What do you call yourself?" Sola smiled as she spoke.

"Uh...Eveon. Yeah, that's it...Eveon." I smiled faintly and looked back into the reflection cast by the pond

"...Eveon..."
