Love Eon by scion_umbranos

Release

So, my species is known as Eveon now, and as far as I know, I am the first. The five sisters certainly seem to like it, judging by the excited whispers going to one another, Umbra staying out of it and instead turning around and trotting into the forest. I turn a confused look to Sola, and she can only shrug and watch her sister wander out of sight.

A rumbling in my gut snaps me out of my thoughts, and makes me look down at my tummy as if I'd never seen it before. A faint chorus of giggles brings a blush to the bridge of my nose "Um...I'm kinda hungry...". Vaporis chimes in "We kinda noticed, follow us."

I lift my head and watch as they trot into the forest before getting up and trotting in after them, my stomach feeling like it was saying hello to my spine. I eventually catch up to them after a few minutes and find them gathered around a berry bush, picking at the fruit there is. Umbra was there with them, and hadn't noticed me yet, considering she couldn't see me at the moment. I slowly stepped forward and took an open spot close to her, reaching up and picking one of the sitrus berries among the leaves of the bush. I begin eating the berry, enjoying the sweet flavor of it immensely before reaching up for another.

I eat my fill and sigh in relief while licking the berry juice from my lips and nose, feeling a bit more cheerful after eating and a small smile on my muzzle. I turn to talk to Umbra and ask about her, but when I look, she isn't there. I blink in confusion and look around, my ears twitching occasionally. She must have gone back to the den to rest, after all, she must not have slept while I was unconscious, so she's probably tired.

With that thought in mind, I decide to head back home, there was something I needed to do. I get back to my home, having been able to find landmarks that I recognize. A surprise greets me when I get there, however, finding Umbra gently patting a small mound of earth with one of her forepaws and looking at it solemnly. I clear my throat to get her attention and she whirls around with a startled look which goes away almost instantly and is replaced by mild surprise, slight difference, but it was there.

"What are you doing here?" I ask her. She looks down at the small dirt mound for a moment, then turns back to me. "I thought...she should be buried. I didn't know you would come back and do it yourself 'cause you're..."

She seems to catch herself from saying something, then shakes her head and sits "Never mind..." I nod slowly and sit beside her with a sigh, looking down at the burial place of my mother. My tail wraps around my haunches and my ears are back, sadness in every hint of my body.

A few moments of silence passes between us as we both look at the grave, each for different reasons. My heart aches as I think I'll never see my mother again, or feel her warm embrace as she curls around me for the night, or to hear her soft words that used to soothe me to sleep when I was sick or injured. A small flashback appears in my mind:

"AH! I'm sorry daddy..." I looked up at my father after he had just bit me hard on the ear, having gotten beaten up by trainer and my father having to save me. "Sorry isn't good enough, you almost got us both caught!" I winced and looked down again "I kept telling you not to go out of this forest, but you damn kits never listen anymore."

"Enough Dieurn, he's learned his lesson, now let it go." I nod slowly, having started to cry softly from more then just the pain of my injuries. "Fine, but if he gets himself caught, it's on your paws, not mine." My father stalked out of the den angrily, leaving me in a sobbing heap of pain and shame. I felt a comforting presence surround me as my mother curls up around me and slowly starts grooming me soothingly and making soft sounds to calm me. I pressed myself deeply into my mothers body and whimper against her fur.

I eventually calmed down enough that I can tell her what happened since she asked. I had been out star-gazing again like I often do, having found a spot just outside the forest where a rock was kept warm by the sun, even after it had set. This time though a rather strong Heracross had appeared along with it's trainer and challenged me I never actually stood a chance against it, though I couldn't get away due to the fact the only way to run was into the town the trainer had come from.

My father had saved me though after I had taken a powerful blow from it's horn and dropped down, almost unconscious. A ball was thrown at me, but my father stopped it and defeated the trainer, knocking him out before dragging me back to the den. He had berated me the entire way back and only got worse when he had gotten back to the den, waking my mother up from her sleep.

I remember looking up at her, and asking why I was so weak. She had asked me why I thought this, and I told her it was because my father said so, and this fight only proved it. I had barely even scratched the bug-type, while my father had knocked it out with only one hit. She had sighed and told me I was not weak, and that I would grow to be stronger than even my father.

I had wondered how this was possible. My father is strong...and not just on a normal scale, his power is that, that he could get past the immunity that dark types have. Unfortunately...this fact proved fatal. As I would soon find out...

The day before, I had awakened to the sound of a heated argument going on between my parents. My ears perked and I peeked out of the den at them. They often argued after that one day I got defeated by the trainer, my father wanting to train me how to fight, and my mother refusing to let him for fear he might hurt me badly.

This time however, the argument was different. My father looked enraged and my mother furious. I saw the glint on my fathers jewel and shouted for him to stop. His head swiveled towards me and I was suddenly hit with a powerful psychic that struck me in my chest and sent me flying back into the den. I had yelped from the blow and went silent as my body hit a wall with a thump, knocking me almost unconscious while I felt a few drops of blood travel down over my eyes.

I heard my mother scream in rage and saw my father slammed into a tree by a psychic from my mother. He ripped her hold away and threw her into the den with me. I felt her body land atop of mine with a groan and saw my father approaching quickly. He leapt onto her and they started wrestling around the den, biting and clawing at each other.

My vision blackened and when I awakened, I saw my father standing over my mothers body with a torn piece of fur in his mouth. It was bloody, and so was he, as well as the scent of blood permeating the air. My mother wasn't moving, nor was she breathing, a look of terror was covering her normally friendly face, a large section missing from her throat with blood slowly seeping from the opening.

I gave a cry of horror and pain at this sight and got up at my father as he spit the chunk of my mothers neck out of his mouth. He looked at me and blasted me with another psychic that brought me to my knees "Father...why...ugh..." I had blacked out and fallen limp to the ground.

These memories let loose a flood of emotions that brings tears to my eyes. I squeeze my eyes shut, not wanting to shed tears in front of Umbra for fear she'd think me weak. But they do come anyway, albeit slowly, making me feel each hot tear travel its way down my cheek to drip off my nose and onto the uncomforting earth.

I feel the caress of a comforting tongue on my cheek and open my teary eyes to look at Umbra, a nod from her is all I need before leaning my head on her shoulder and crying my pain out. I feel her press her chin against the back of my head and scoot closer as she comforts me, making soothing sounds that only make me feel worse, because they sound like my mother's.

After a few minutes my sobbing slows to a point, and I start hiccupping quietly. "Feel better?" I nod slowly and sniff wetly "Y-yes...thank you." I feel her nod but not release her hold on me, instead pulling me a bit closer and licking softly at my tearstained cheek fur. My hiccups die down after awhile of holding my breath, and I feel a bit more comforted, letting my torn heart re-coup and start to heal.

I finally calm down completely and tug my head a little from her. She lets me go and sits again, ignoring the wet spot on her shoulder for the moment. I wipe my eyes with a paw and sniff, my eyes and nose burning a little "There's a pool of water close by." I nod and slowly head towards it, feeling her eyes on me and watching me. I dunk my head in the almost frigid water and shiver while letting it sooth the burn in my face. I drink deeply from it to get rid of my parched throat and pull my head back, shaking it and sending droplets of water everywhere.

A cleared throat sounds beside me and I look to see a soaked Sola, Volta, Flara, and Vaporis. I blush "Um...sorry." Sola's left eyebrow twitches a few time "That's ok..." They each shake off except Vaporis, who seems to enjoy the water.

"We heard you crying, and came after you. What happened?" Volta asks and I turn to them "I went to bury my mother...but, it turns out Umbra got there before me." They each blink in surprise and look at one another "So that's where she went..." Said Sola. I nod slowly and begin to walk back to my home.

"Where are you going?" Flara asks me. I keep walking, not wanting to look back at them and make leaving even harder

"To get revenge."
