Firebreathing trouble
After Nyrox had made his promise he went back to live in his den. Vara said she would check on him every now and then to make sure he was ok. Which he lied and said he was fine. But inside his hate and anger was burning inside him.
"If I'm gonna to get my revenge on him," He said out aloud to himself. "I'll need to get stronger."
Never been in a fight before, Nyrox had no idea on his strength. He assumed that he was weak.
"I'll have to hide it from Vara," He continued. "She'd never approve and try to stop me."
There was a place quite a walk away where others fought, but they were quite brutal. But it seemed to be the only place to go.

Nyrox reached the 'Arena' as it was called. It was more like lots of arenas. He could see at least seven.
The Arena was an area of the forest where lots of brown rocks were. Many smashed up and made into many circles to mark the pit of the arenas and to serve as walls.
There was a huge variety of pokemon there. Many of them Nyrox hadn't seen before.
As he turned to look around, he saw a Scyther. He didn't seem to be all that tough. Just the kind that acted tough to hide the fact that he wasn't as tough as he looked.
"What's a wimp like you doing here?" He jeered at Nyrox.
"I'm no wimp!" Nyrox snarled back baring his teeth.
"Is that so?" He replied rubbing his scythe-like arms together. "We'll see about that."
Nyrox sensed an attack and launched a Fire Blast at him.
The five-pointed star of fire hit the Scyther. But nothing happened. He didn't flinch. He didn't seem hurt at all.
He laughed cruelly. "Is that you best shot?"
He threw himself at Nyrox and lashed out at him, his arms flailing. Nyrox flinched and fell to the floor as the Scyther inflicted numerous cuts all over him as he flew over him.
Nyrox turned around painfully and with all the power he could muster launched a Flamethrower attack. Once again it failed to affect him again.
The Scyther laughed again and smacked Nyrox with the flat side of his bladed arm.
"Go home wimp!" He shouted at him and walked off, leaving Nyrox alone.

Nyrox limped back to his den. Why hadn't his fire attacks worked on that Scyther? They didn't even singe him...
This was all he could think about. His body wracked with pain. Each step he took seemed to only cause more pain. But his determination to grow stronger had taken no damage. He would grow stronger. The day will come when he will shed his father's blood.

When he finally reached the entrance to his den he collapsed and tumbled inside. He just laid there unable to move anymore.
He heard footsteps outside. Vara's. He knew it was her.
"Hello Ny... what the heck happened to you?" She exclaimed when she saw his body littered with cuts and scratches.
"I got attacked." Nyrox lied.
"Who on earth by?" Asked Vara already attending to his wounds.
"I didn't see." Nyrox lied nonchalantly again.
"Looks like a Scyther got you."
"Ah." Said Nyrox. Vara had been healing wounds for years. She could tell what kind of pokemon caused what kind of cut, scrape or scratch.
"You should try and take it easy," Said Vara. "You're body has already suffered a lot..." Her voice trailed on.
Nyrox's mind was else where. Too focused on trying to figure out why his fire attacks did no damage. Eventually he got too tired. It hadn't occurred to him it was well into the night. He drifted off to sleep with Vara still lecturing him.
To be continued.
