The Great Escape
Hi there, again. Thirteenth time we've met, hope this doesn't bring any bad luck. Okay, I'm sure you want to hear about what happened on the island, so without further stalling for time...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Looks like these beasts wanted to die before their execution" the green uniformed man in front said, brandishing his hatchet. "And if that's what they want, let's give it to them."
The two men behind him also drew weapons, both of which had rather large knives. The man with the ax charged at us, ready to strike. Peter charged up an electrical attack, while Greg swiftly leapt to the side, drawing in a deep breath. Ryan, who was standing next to me, also began to charge his electricity. The man swung the ax at Peter, who released his charged electrical power in the form of a Thunderbolt. The man promptly dropped the ax and was electrocuted, falling to his knees. One of the other uniformed men grabbed his knife by the tip of the blade. He took aim and threw it, Peter as its target. Peter jumped up into the air, narrowly dodging the knife. It ricocheted off the stone floor, flying past my head and sticking into a nearby chair. Greg released his Ember attack, scorching the man that had just attacked Peter. He comically ran in a small circle, frantically trying to extinguish the flames on his jacket. He dropped to the ground, rolling around, and eventually dousing the flames. He stood up and charged at Greg. Greg was caught off guard, unable to contain his laughter at the man, and was tackled to the ground. He gave a surprised yelp as he was slammed onto the floor. Catherine leapt at the man, using her Pound attack and knocking him off Greg.
The other guard watched as this happened and stealthily crept into the darker part of the room. The next thing I knew, I was suddenly picked up, roughly and by my right side. I tried to call out, but it was muffled out. I saw the tip of his blade come into view. He held it up to my neck. I panicked, this man was going to kill me.
"Surrender, fools!" he called out to them. A sudden pain shot through my body. The guard dropped my abruptly, and I landed on my back. I writhed in pain from whatever had hit me, the pain shooting through my entire body. I heard a thud and saw the man collapsed next to me.
"Delta!" I heard a voice call. Ryan rushed to my side. "Are you alright? I'm so sorry about that, but I didn't know what else to do."
He must have blasted the man with his charged energy from before. I lay there helplessly, unable to move. He must also have temporarily paralyzed me. The world faded slowly into darkness. I could hear voices around me, but couldn't make them out. I blacked out.
When I awoke, I found myself in Aaron's arms. We were fleeing whatever that place was. I kept still, unsure if I was still paralyzed. The pain from the blast had somewhat subsided, but I still felt some of it. As we ran, I saw some disturbing sights. Littered around the island were the bodies of several brutally murdered Pokemon. One in particular I recognized as the Sneasel I'd seen earlier. There were also two much smaller Sneasels with her, which I assumed were her children. I could hear voices yelling from behind us and assumed we were being pursued.
"Get them! They can't get away!" I heard. "No one can know of us until we're ready to attack!"
I saw an arrow whiz past, sticking into a nearby tree. I noticed a thick, green fluid dripping from the point where it hit. I heard a snapping sound beneath us, and Aaron fell, dropping me. I landed on my left hind paw and collapsed onto my side. Peter ran over to Aaron. He stood up, seeming a bit rattled. He shook it off and came over to me and picked me back up. He didn't get two steps before the man in the green suit appeared before us.
"Now, I can't let you get away, not after you've seen us here" he said.
"Who are you people?" Aaron asked him, almost yelling.
"Now, now, where are my manners. Since you will not be going anywhere any time soon, I suppose I could tell you" he said as the guards that were in pursuit surrounded us. "We are a small organization bent on eliminating these...beasts...from the world. They ruin our farmland, destroy our buildings, and terrorize us on a regular basis."
"No they don't! I've never heard of a Pokemon destroying buildings and terrorizing people!"
"But you cannot deny that they damage our farmland?"
"I can't. I've heard that Diglett sometimes damage farmland."
"Exactly. And just because you've never heard of these...Pokemon, as you call them...destroying buildings does not mean that they do not. The people that make up this organization have experienced enough hardships caused by them. It sickens us to see humans banding together with them. They are nothing but savage beasts, and the only good one of them is a dead one."
He drew a knife from his pocket.
"Now, which one of you shall go first?"
His eyes searched us. I felt uncomfortable as he did so. Ryan, angry at what he just heard, began to charge his power. The man noticed this and turned to face him.
"See, this beast is preparing to attack me. Its nature is telling it to harm another living being. If that doesn't prove to you how savage they are, I don't know what will."
Aaron looked down at Ryan. He noticed a fearful look on his face as he built his charge.
"He's preparing to defend himself against you. He sees you as a threat, and that is why his instinct is telling him to fight" Aaron said to the man.
"Me? A threat?" he said. "Preposterous. What is so threatening about me, I wonder. Is it the fact that I have told the truth about them? Or maybe that I'm holding this?" He indicated the knife he was holding. "Perhaps if I drop it, he would find me less threatening?"
He dropped the knife, but Ryan held his charge.
"And there you go. The beast is still ready to attack, even though I am no longer armed. You cannot deny that he is a savage beast, bent on destruction."
"Yes I can, and I will."
"Then you are no better than they." He snapped his fingers and one of the guards behind us smashed a metal pipe onto Ryan's head, knocking him out once again, his electrical power sizzled and crackled around his body before subsiding. I looked at the man that attacked him and recognized him as the guard outside our cage earlier. He then in turn bashed Peter, Greg, and Catherine, knocking them all unconscious.
"Now that the beasts have been neutralized, you will be coming with us. But your little friend here will have a special place of honor with me." He snatched me roughly from Aaron's grip. I flailed helplessly as I dangled from his hand, desperately trying to free myself.
"Delta, no! I won't let you harm him!" Aaron cried out. He made to dive at the man, but he was stopped in his tracks as a guard grabbed him from behind. "Don't you dare harm one hair on his head, or you will pay the consequences!"
"Young man, you are in no position to be making empty threats."
Aaron managed to break free from the guard's grasp. He reached for his belt and grabbed his Pokeballs and drew Ryan, Peter, Greg, and Catherine into them. He pointed the last at me and I felt myself leave the man's grip and be sucked into the ball.
I know nothing of what happened after that until I was released from the ball. I appeared back in the cabin of the boat. I was the only one released from my Pokeball. Aaron was outside talking to Captain Raney, both trying frantically to get the boat moving. I heard the man's voice outside.
"Don't let them escape, you fools! He knows too much!"
"Hang on, we're getting out of here!" Raney said to Aaron. I almost fell off the chair I was lying on as the boat made a sudden turn.
"AFTER HIM!!!" the man hollered from outside the boat.
I looked outside the cabin to see two guards jump aboard the boat before we could escape. Aaron leapt at one of them, knocking him back off the side. I heard a splash as the man fell into the water. The other guard grabbed Aaron from behind. Knowing that he couldn't fight back against this attacker, and Raney had to steer the boat, I saw no other way. I stood up, ignoring the severe pain that ran through my legs. I ran out of the cabin to help him. I charged at the guard, diving headfirst into him. It barely fazed him, though. He looked down at me as my legs gave out. I collapsed onto my belly, the agony had become unbearable. My attack may not have hurt him, but it served a sufficient distraction. Aaron was able to escape his grasp, and he shoved the guard off the edge of the boat.
Raney quickly steered the boat away from the island, and we had gotten away.
"You haven't seen the last of us!" I could hear the leader of the group call out faintly.
Aaron knelt down to me. He picked me up and carried me back into the cabin. He laid me down onto the chair I was on before.
"Are you alright, Delta?" he asked. I didn't answer him, the pain had my full attention. I writhed in agony, my legs feeling as though they were on fire. My ankle hurt even more than when the Charmeleon had twisted it. Aaron reached for his pack and realized it wasn't there. He must have forgotten it when we escaped. He began to stroke my fur. "Just hang in there, it'll be alright" he said to me as he pet me. His touch helped calm me. I stopped squirming and began to enjoy the feeling it brought to my body. I still felt the amazing amount of pain, but I was distracted from it by Aaron's hand.
"You did a wonderful job, thanks for the help." He smiled at me, continuing his treatment. "I'm really proud of you, Delta. Now, try to get some rest. You've had a hard day, you deserve a break."
I tried to ignore the pain long enough to fall asleep, but I couldn't. Every time I tried, I would receive a sharp, stabbing pain in my ankle. I laid there, trying to cope with the pain. Eventually, it subsided slightly, and I was able to relax. The pain still kept me awake, though.
Night fell over the sea, and Aaron had fallen asleep. I laid on the chair, wide awake. The pain was still sufficient enough to keep me awake, but it was fading a bit. I stared out of the cabin, listening to the waves crash up against the sides of the boat. The sky was dark, and stars were scattered amongst the darkness. I laid motionless, continuing to listen to the sounds of the sea.
A restless night for me. That day was one of the most exciting days I had experienced. One might say I saved the day, but it wouldn't have been possible without Catherine. She allowed our escape in the first place, I just helped it along. Well, I have work to do, so I need to get going. I'll see you later.
