Delta's Story by delta

Beginning the Journey

Hey there, again. How are you on this fine day. Shall I continue my story, then?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up the next morning to find the tent empty. I stood up and stretched before poking my head out of the tent's flap. It must have rained overnight, the ground was moist and there were a few puddles scattered around. I saw Aaron standing over a small fire. There was a small pot hanging over top of it. I walked out of the tent and made my way over to him. He looked down at me and reached down to me. I watched his hand cautiously as it came nearer my head. He placed his hand on top of my head, reaching his fingers behind my ears and scratching there. I slowly closed my eyes in the pleasure of the feeling. He withdrew his hand and carefully removed the pot from the fire. He reached into his backpack and pulled out five small bowls, filling one with the substance within the pot. He placed the bowl in front of me. I peered into it, trying to make out what was in it. It was a bluish purple fluid with small brown chunks in it.
"Go ahead," Aaron said to me. I looked up at him curiously. "Is something wrong?" He continued to watch me as I stared at him, then looked back to the bowl. "You want to know what it is? It's pokefood that I stewed in berry juice. Try some, I'm sure you'll like it."
I gazed into the small bowl before reaching into it, biting down on one of the smaller chunks. I popped it into my mouth, tasting it. It was amazing! It left a pleasant, warm feeling in my mouth and throat. I dug my muzzle back into the bowl, eagerly eating what was left. Aaron laughed as I inhaled the contents of the bowl. Catherine walked up behind him. He filled another bowl and handed it to her.
"Thank you, Aaron," she said to him, not that he understood, but the message got across.
"You're welcome, Cathy."
I finished the food in my bowl and pulled my muzzle out of it. Aaron looked at me and almost burst out laughing again. I looked at him, confused. Catherine noticed me and giggled.
"What?" I asked her.
"You have juice all over your face."
I padded over to a small puddle on the ground and looked into it. I saw my face reflected in it. I did indeed have berry juice covering my muzzle. I tried to lick off as much of it as I could, but I couldn't reach some of it. Aaron stood over me with a piece of cloth in his hand. I looked up to see him just as he wrapped my face in it, rubbing gently. He removed it and I looked back into the puddle. The juice was gone, but my fur was a little mussed up. I smoothed it out with my paw.
About a half hour passed, everyone had eaten breakfast and Aaron was taking down the tent, Catherine and Ryan helping him. Peter was once again reading the book he brought with him, and Greg was standing over him, asking questions about it. I could tell Peter was a bit irritated by him, but he tolerated and answered his questions. I approached the two of them.
"What's that thing?" Greg asked Peter, pointing to a picture in the book.
"That's a rare herb that's used in some more powerful quick-healing medicines, more specifically, Full Restores," he answered, clearly annoyed. He looked up from the book to see me standing behind it. "Oh, hello Delta. You doing OK?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," I responded. I turned to look into the book's contents and saw a picture of a plant with some unreadable (to me) text. Peter snapped the book shut, almost slamming it on my nose. I pulled my face out of the way just in time. "Peter, what's wrong?"
"Yeah, you've had a bit of an attitude today," Greg added.
"I'm fine. I just wish you wouldn't ask so many questions when I'm trying to read."
"Yeesh, sorry," Greg retorted.
Peter sighed heavily. "Look, I'm sorry. I just don't like being bothered when I'm trying to do something."
Aaron finished packing the tent away and called us over to him. He pulled out four Pokeballs. Peter, Greg, Catherine, and myself were sucked into them. Once again, I found myself surrounded by darkness.
The light shone before me once again, and I felt myself being drawn out of the Pokeball. I was greeted with the sight of a beautiful lake. I felt a gentle breeze run through my fur. I turned around and glanced upwards. Aaron was standing in front of me, holding my ball. He put it away inside the pouch on his belt, then pulled out another object. I'd never seen this thing before. It was a small, flat, red machine. He held it, pointing the small antenna towards me.
"Eevee: Number 133. Evolution Pokemon. Its genetic code is irregular. It may mutate if it is exposed to radiation from element Stones," I heard from the machine. Aaron continued to look at the small device for a moment. He tapped something on it and pointed it back at me. It spoke again.
"Level 7. Attack power 14. Defense 12. Speed 11. Special attack power 11. Special Defense 15. 49 Experience points until level 8. Attacks known: Tackle, Tail Whip, Helping Hand," it said.
I looked up at this unknown device curiously. Aaron put it back into his pouch and turned back to face me. He noticed my expression. "That was a Pokedex. It tells me all about any Pokemon it's pointed at. In your case, since you're in my Pokemon roster, it was also able to tell me your stats and attacks," he explained to me.
I heard a splash from behind me and spun around. Catherine was visible in the lake along with Ryan and Peter. Greg was sitting on the small beach that extended around part of it. Aaron stood up and walked over to the beach and set his bag down next to Greg. He pulled a large piece of cloth out of the pack and laid it on the sand. He beckoned me to him, and I trotted over to his side. He laid back on the cloth, closing his eyes.
"Greg, why don't you go swimming with them? Why are you up here alone?" I asked.
"Delta, I'm a Fire Type, being in water is harmful to me."
"Oh..."
"If you want to, go ahead. I'm fine up here, probably going to take a bit of a nap." He settled into the sand, shifting to get comfortable.
"Delta, come on in!" Ryan called to me from the lake. I stood up and turned to face the water. I ran towards the edge of the beach, leaping into the air and landing in the cool water. I quickly surfaced, taking in a couple deep breaths. Peter swam over to me, splashing my face when he got nearby. I could hear him laughing at me and splashed him back.
"Hey Delta, think fast!" I heard behind me. I felt myself forced underwater again, but I was able to take a quick breath before going under. I looked up and saw Ryan's forepaws on my back. I rolled over underwater and pulled playfully on his tail. He panicked, letting off a small amount of electricity into the lake. I immediately regretted that choice. I felt a surge of electrical power run through my body. I quickly released his tail, the electricity burning my paws. I tried to swim back up, but after the blast my energy was sapped. I blacked out.
I awoke shortly afterwards to find Ryan and Peter standing over me. I coughed, a small amount of water spewing forth from my mouth. Peter rolled me onto my side.
"Delta? Can you hear me?" Peter asked me. I bowed my head to answer him.
"Delta, I'm sorry about that thundershock. You scared me and it sort of slipped out. I hope I didn't hurt you too much, I can cause a lot of damage with my electricity," Ryan said to me. Peter began to examine my body. He touched my paw and I yelped in pain. He took a closer look to see what was wrong with it.
"His paws were burned from the attack, but I don't see any other damage." He walked over to Aaron's backpack and opened it. He began to dig into the bag, trying to find something. He stood back up, looking a bit concerned. "He doesn't have any medical supplies or healing medicines," he said, panicking.
"Hey, can't you use some leaves to make bandages?" he asked.
"I suppose, but I don't know what to do about the burns."
Greg woke up at these words. "What burns?" he asked, yawning.
"Ryan accidentally electrocuted Delta."
"Is he alright?"
"He should be fine, but I can't do anything to help him, Aaron doesn't have any medical supplies or medicines. The most I could do is bandage them with some leaves."
"I'm back!" a voice called. I turned my head to see who said it. Catherine was walking over to us, carrying something. "Is he going to be alright?" she asked Peter.
"He should be okay, but I have no way to heal his burns without medicine of some kind."
Peter noticed what she was carrying. She held a couple of cyan-colored berries that closely resembled strawberries.
"Rawst berries? Hmm...I know there was something to them. OH! That's right. Rawst berry juice is an effective alternative to burn medication."
"Really?" she asked him. "I was going to have a snack, but if it'll help him, I can always get more," she said, offering Peter the berries.
He took them and walked over to me. He set them down next to me and took one in his paw. He squeezed the berry until it burst open, the juices within leaking out. He grabbed one of my burnt paws and rubbed the juice onto it. It began to sear with pain. It continued to burn painfully for a few moments, but then the pain was soothed. A nice, cool feeling was left on my paw. He grabbed another berry and did the same thing to my other one.
"There we go," he said after he finished.
"Thanks, Peter," I said. I coughed up another small amount of water.
"Try to get some rest, Delta," he instructed me, and I obeyed. I shut my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
I woke up later that afternoon. I found myself being cradled in Aaron's arms. I looked down to see my front paws. They were no longer coated in the berry juice and they felt much better. Aaron felt me move and looked down at me.
"You awake?" he asked. "You probably don't want me to carry you, so I'll put you down."
He was right, despite my condition, I still didn't enjoy the feeling of being held. He gently grabbed under my shoulders and set me down on the ground. My forepaws touched down on the ground, immediately returning the pain to them. I collapsed forward, my paws in agony. The burns still hadn't fully healed. Greg ran over to me.
"Delta, are you alright?" he asked me as he approached.
"My paws," I groaned. He grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and placed me onto his back. "Thanks, Greg."
"No problem, kid."
"What happened to him?" Aaron asked. Peter apparently never told him about Ryan zapping me. "Peter, what happened?" he asked again, reaching into his backpack, pulling out the pad of paper and the pencil again. He handed them to the Pikachu. Peter wrote a quick response and handed the paper back to Aaron, who read his answer.
"Is he alright? How can we take care of his burns, I don't have any medicine."
Peter tugged on his pant leg and Aaron gave him the pad once again. The Pikachu scrawled another response before returning it.
"'I know you don't have any medicines, I checked.' You went through my bag?" Peter nodded guiltily. "Don't worry about it, I have nothing to hide. But what about Delta's burns?" Peter pointed up at the notepad. Aaron looked farther down on the paper. "Oh, you already took care of them. Rawst berry juice? That works on burns?" He looked down at Peter, who nodded again. "You really are pretty smart." He patted Peter on the head. I could see him blush lightly at the last remark from Aaron. Peter gave him back the pencil and he placed them back into his bag.
"Well, let's keep moving then."
We traveled along the path we were on for a few more hours. The forest was fairly dense around there. Aaron picked out a small clearing to set up camp for the night. He pitched the tent fairly quickly this time considering that Ryan, Greg, and Catherine were aiding him. Peter sat down next to me.
"How're your paws, Delta?"
"They still hurt a lot."
"I'm sure they do. Ryan got you pretty good. I wish there was something I could do to help you out, but I don't know what to do about it. Aaron doesn't have any medicine that could help, and I don't know of any natural painkillers that could be found around here."
"It's alright, Peter. I'll just try to put up with the pain."
Aaron finished pitching the tent and the other three walked in. He walked over to Peter and me. "I know you don't like to be picked up. It's getting pretty cold out here. It's bad enough you're hurt, I don't want you to get sick too. Sorry about this." He lifted me and carried me into the tent, Peter following him closely. He set me down onto a pile of cloth that was sitting in the corner.
Night fell over the forest. Ryan and Peter already fell asleep, and Greg was having a conversation with Catherine. I laid my head down to the side of my paws and gave in to the Sandman.
