Delta's Story by delta

Separation

Hi there again, friend. I'm sure you want to hear more of my story. Well, here goes...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I awoke the next morning, seeing Gamma still asleep next to me, lying on his side. I slowly rose to my paws, careful not to wake him. I looked around the room to see Peter and Aaron were missing. Ryan was sleeping on the chair, one leg hanging off the front. Greg was lying near the fireplace, awake. He looked over to see me stand.
"Morning, Delta. How're you feeling today?" he asked.
"Good morning, Greg. I'm doing alright, I guess. Where're Peter and Aaron?"
"They're outside, taking a look around town. I didn't feel like going with them. It's bad enough I'm around two humans, I really don't want to deal with two hundred." He laughed nervously.
Gamma began to stir next to me. I looked down to see his light green eyes open slowly. He stared up at me for a moment, then rolled onto his belly and sat up.
"Good morning, Gamma" I greeted him.
"Morning" he replied, yawning.
The door opened and Aaron and Peter walked into the house. Peter walked over to Ryan, noticing that he was still asleep, before walking next to Gamma and me. Aaron sat down on a couch.
"Morning guys" he said.
"Morning, Peter" I replied.
"Good morning" Gamma said.
"Hey, Peter" Greg called from the fireplace.
"Aaron wants to move on today, Delta. He said it was nice to come here, but he wants to continue his journey" Peter informed me.
"Oh. So, you mean..." I began.
"Yeah, I'm afraid so." My good mood suddenly ended. I would be leaving Gamma once again. Peter noticed my expression shift and said quickly, "That is, of course, unless he decides to come along."
"Really? Gamma, what do you say? You want to come with us to explore the world?"
"I'm sorry, Delta, I really want to go, but I don't want to leave Jenny. Like I said yesterday, I owe her my life."
"I'm sure Aaron would let her come with us" I added desperately.
"But she has a life here. She can't just up and leave. I really wish I could go with you, but I can't."
I knew what he said to be true. I couldn't make him come with us, and Jenny would probably be reluctant to go. I sat there for a moment, letting the reality of the situation sink in, finally accepting it.
Noon rolled around and Aaron was getting ready to leave. He called Catherine, Greg, and Peter back to their Pokeballs. Ryan stood up and followed him as he left the house.
"Well, I guess this is goodbye, Gamma."
"I suppose, but at least this time we're being separated in a peaceful manner. You'll always be welcome here, brother. Goodbye."
I could see a tear in his eye as he said that last word. He wanted to be separated about as much as I did, and I would have given anything to not be split apart from him. I slowly turned and padded out the door, following Aaron and Ryan. I looked back once more to see him waving a paw at me. I waved back, then followed Aaron out of town.
Hours passed by quickly, and before I knew it, I was surrounded by darkness. It was a cold night, the wind blowing furiously. I felt a drop of rain fall on my nose and looked up. A crack of thunder roared overhead, and a bolt of lightning was visible. The rain became a downpour within minutes. Aaron was trying to quickly erect the tent, being aided by Ryan and me. Soon enough, we had pitched the tent. We scurried inside away from the rain. Aaron pulled a towel out from his backpack and dried himself off, setting it aside. He then pulled out a second towel and dried us off. He released the others inside the tent.
"Wow, it's really raining hard out there, isn't it?" Peter asked, hearing the rain beat on the tent.
"It sure is" Ryan answered.
I laid down in a corner, thinking about the past two days. I was certainly happy to know that Gamma was alright, but I was upset that we couldn't be together. I could feel myself on the verge of tears and hid my face in my forepaws. For the first time in two weeks, I cried myself to sleep.
That was quite possibly the day I hated most. Being separated from Gamma once again after having just found him was something I would take a long time to cope with. He was the only thing I had left of my old life, and he was taken away. Well, I'll continue the story another time, it's pretty late. See you later.
