Mimi stood on a tree overlooking her new domicile, the cool mist flowing off her back. Her chest stood proud over her natural conquest. Those that had mocked her were now seeking her advice and even that Victreebel from earlier that night was seeking her friendship. In the shadows was the obscured face of her lover. "My dear... see how the jungle loves you? You have nothing to be worried about." The monkey in the shadows pointed to everything and more. He handed her an enigma berry the size of the moon or at least as big as the moon looked. She leaned in to kiss him but the dream ended.
. "Just a dream... I want to forever sleep there..." Mimi stood up and stretched, scratching her lower back since there was no longer anyone else watching. For a moment she enjoyed the quiet solitude. The sounds of distant birds echoed off the aged old trees. The sound of nincada set the beat for a beautiful morning cadence of insect life. At least before stomach rumblings alerted her to reality. "So... hungry..."
She started heading for the door, suddenly springing back into the pigeon hole in the tree as a pokemon swings down in front of the entrance. "HI!"
Nani didn't expect the retaliatory punch Mimi was going to give her as it sent her swinging right up into the branch she hung from, breaking her grip on the branch and faceplanting right in front of the monferno, dazed. "It was a harmless prank..." she said in a dizzy, wavering voice
"Don't scare me like that then... wait, what sort of pokemon are you?'
"I'm Nani the Ambipom and from the looks of things you must be a Monferno and possibly related to that truck I saw driving away..."
"My name is Mimi and I guess you saw me with humans."
"It was something to pass the time after fishing came up empty for me..."
"Is there a river nearby?"
"No... not really." The Ambipom rose to its feet and dusted off with knees with its tail paws. "Just fished in some plants."
"... well anyway it was nice meeting you and I hope you do well out here, but I need to find food," Mimi said as she turned to start looking for food. However the twin-tailed monkey tapped her shoulder.
"Well actually, I know great places for food so why don't you tag along with me? There is this great tree with loads of delicious fruit that can fill you up in no time. How about it?" Nani offered her outstretched paw to the new resident.
Mimi had to think for a bit. This reminded her of something from her dream. *This monkey smells male and he is the first person to be friendly with me... as long as I guard myself appropriately, this could work out well. Despite his semi-immature playfulness, he does seem to know how to find food in all the strange places. Hmm...* as she was making the decision, she noticed that wind was blowing around her quickly. The ambipom had already decided through her and was zooming through the trees at a haphazard pace with Mimi in tow
"What are you doing, Nani?!"
"Sorry, can't wait. The food window is closing soon and you take too long to think about things." The ambipom stopped and allowed Monferno to rest on the branch. "How good is your tree swinging?" she asked.
"It's decent but it's... wait I'm still mad at you for taking me without my permission!"
"Pom... but anyways let's go." Nani went back to tree swinging, now only using her twin tails as opposed to her weaker forepaws, Mimi following as best as she could with her strong forepaws but barely keeping up.
----
They arrived at one of Nani's stash holes. "Wait out here while I check things out for any sign of looting or predatory stalking." Mimi nodded and Nani went inside to check. She walked back out with a disappointed sigh as well as some sweat on her forehead. "One half eaten berry left... someone raided me. Here you can have the berry... I'll check my other stash and see if anything is still in it." She climbed up higher and came down almost as fast as she noticed that there was a few in the other one. "Aha, let's eat."
Mimi examines the fruit and upon sniffing it, finds its smell quite puzzling. "Um... what is it? It's all black and grey and stuff... is it even fresh?" She tapped the outside and found it to be quite solid. "it's hard and seems like a dry fruit too." She squeezes the fruit and very little juice comes out.
"Eat up. I have to show you the way of the jungle here then teach you how to horde resources for times you are too lazy to go about foraging." The ambipom started munching eagerly on the fruit and became quite invigorated. For one reason or another, she prefers to eat this fruit upside down, swinging like a pendulum. Mimi moved closer to observe the strange behavior and just as she was going to ask a question, Nani shoved the berry in her mouth.
Instantly, her body felt weird. Her spirit was rejuvenated, her agility increased, and for some reason, she felt like hanging upside down and eating the berry alongside the purple monkey. "Wh...what is this sensation? I feel like I could run for miles... I don't notice the blood rushing to my head. It's like I can sense everything around me. And I know this thing tastes decent... what is it?"
"Isn't the Enigma berry awesome? I just love eating a few every day. It's quite filling for me even for my active lifestyle." The Ambipom finished her berry and went to work on the second one she had. They hung around for fifteen or so minutes just eating these berries, faces turning a bit redder over time as the blood starting pooling in their heads. Eventually they fell and faceplanted on a limb five feet below. They grunted in unison and head their heads for a good minute, trying to endure the pain without a word.

After a few days of getting familiar with the jungle setting, Nani decided to teach Mimi about the way around this place.
"Now I am going to teach you the law of the jungle. Pay attention and keep up with me because we have a lot of places to stop by." The two of them were moving through the thick understory, branches whizzing by before the eyes could fully process them. Apparently, their natural agility made it unnecessary. As usual, the ambipom swung with any of her paws, usually her front paws or tail paws. Even when she slipped in her step, she had many other paws to rely on. Swinging was a breeze. On the other hand, Mimi's own ability to swing was hampered by a less than reliable tail and her somewhat awkward movements. There was little flow aiding her advancement and if it wasn't for her strong forearms, she wouldn't have been able to keep up at all. Every once in a while, Nani would extend one of her tail paws back to give the monferno a speed boost, slingshotting the fire monkey ahead of herself.
It was quite an endearing trait that Mimi detected in this "male." Her thoughts went back to her dream and the monkey in the shadows holding the enigma berry. The pieces were falling in place for her it seems. And boy was Nani strong, being able to pull her along despite her greater weight.
Mimi didn't notice that Nani was turned around eyeing the daydreamer. "Mimi..."
No response. Mimi was lost in her fantasies of being with the ambipom and 'he' held her in his strong arms. Matter of fact, Mimi was blindly jumping through the trees barely aware of what was around her. Nani swung in front of Mimi's face, staring into her face, trying her best annoying faces to try to get her to snap out of it. But she went on.
Nani had to catapult the out-of-touch monkey around a bend before she hopped into a clearing without anything to break her fall except for the grassy ground. However, Mimi slammed into the side of the tree, leaving an imprint of herself. She seemed to be unaware she crashed though, smiling foolishly as she stumbled forward in the direction of Nani who had just landed next to her.
"Are you ok, Mimi?" said Nani in a concerned tone. She steadied the monferno with her forepaws. "What's gotten into you? For the last few minutes you have been daydreaming and...mmmrf!"
The monferno leaned forward and their lips met. For a moment, everything around seemed to freeze as the unusual happened on the exposed branch. Nani's cheeks blushed a deep red as the embarrassment and new strange feelings upwelled in her being. Mimi found her daydream transitioning into reality as the male monkey in the shadows merged into reality as her ambipom companion. Mimi pulled away, her heart racing at the embarrassing episode where her daydreams spilled into reality.
"Nice kiss..." said Nani, blushing brightly. Her heart was still beating rapidly. She walked over to the monferno and helped her to her feet. "Well, let's continue the hunt for a lesson spot."
