A Palm In Need by yin

Que? What?

Quiet overshadowed the enigma berry tree where Nani and Saito stood. She had just heard that Saito had done the unthinkable to someone she actually cared for. She suddenly felt the weight of all the sadness crush her usually happy being. She gritted her teeth, looking at the sinister lizard who had cloned himself 20 times over. Her knees felt weak and her heart heavy, but no, she wouldn't allow someone like him to take away someone she cared for.

"Just imagine," he said in a dark cacophony. "Just imagine your stupid monkey lover digesting, rotting away in that filthy pitcher plant. Imagine the skin wearing off her bones, her silent screams as her lungs are choked with...ooof!" His face contorted as her tail paw crushed the stiff contour of his jaw. His body spun from the force of her punch, disorienting him momentarily.

"ÂQué la COGIDA?" He shouted in complete rage, rubbing his jaw. Across from the kecleon, the fem primate had her tail paws clenched, leaning forward in a fighting stance, surrounded by his double teams which were slowly fading. A smirk came across her face as he saw a tear drop from her eye.

"You are crying, mono estupido? You are crying? Not so butch now are you? I never said I killed her, but whatever, she is dead regardless. You can fight me all you want, but it's your fault, puta." he said, spitting in her direction a mix of saliva and blood. "You can punch me as hard as you want, but you are just a weak little girl." He got up and propped himself up against the tree trunk, smiling fiendishly. He disappeared into the background, hiding from view.
------

Mimi sat on a moss covered branch of a neighboring tropical tree, legs dangling off the sides, calculating the number of ways to approach the situation, none of the end results being too appealing. As long as those berries were there, she could not engage it in any sort of conflict and as long as it would not budge, the fruits could not be accessed.

She looked up at the filtered sunlight, glistening through the high level fog in broken rays. Down below, the Victreebel who had just opened up its leaves to catch the fleeting source of energy sighed happily. Like many noises, that particular one did not escape the hearing of the monferno... in fact something else caught her eye... a round bruise on its side.

Her sounds did not escape its hearing either as it glared in her direction. Quickly, she hid from view, unsure if she had been discovered again. Sweat trickled down her back, but then she 'remembered' how strong her companion appeared to be, so much so that he offered to fight the big lizard. She had to be brave...

"ÂPor qué usted ha estado espiando en mí de allí, mono?"

Her heart skipped a beat. It... no.... she was addressing her. No turning back now... but what was she saying? There was no time to plan this out now; only her gut feelings could see her through. She stepped away from her hiding place into the clear with her hands in the air and maintaining a submissive posture. No fear was evident however, which intrigued the pitcher plant that dangled over the Enigma Berry cache.

"ÂPor qué usted ha estado espiando en mí de allí, mono? Hable por favor." Its large stocky
vine expanded and allowed it to lower itself to her level, staring her right in the eyes with its harsh eyes. "Hable..."

"...um...what?"

Right then, they stared at each other blankly, trying to figure out what the other said.

"Usted no entiende lo que estoy diciendo?"

"What are you saying? I do not know that language despite being amongst humans."

Now there was an understanding... a word that phonetically matches from both languages matched up and the puzzlement became even more fierce.

"Eh... hmmm... understand what I am saying?"

"Ay Caramba..."

------
Nani rushed the chameleon, her two tails spirally behind her. Saito just stood there, grinning in that sort of manner that enraged even the calmest of fighters.

"So the low class primate comes to attack me? Take your best shot, puta."

She dashes in with an agility to Double hit combo, but when she connects with the kecleon, her attack seemingly bounces off and the pokemon she attacked disappeared.

"Blasted substitute. Where are ya, slime ball? i will not be sticking around for you!" She turned and started to head away to where their rendezvous point would be but a large heavy iron ball whistled through the air and right at her, grazing her shoulder and impaling the tree trunk. She tried her best to recover, but it had injured her badly. She jumped up to another branch just as the Kecleon's tongue snaked around the trees to retrieve his weapon.

"I hope you don't mind the pain. One of those idiotic humans left it behind and its helped me snipe out thieves, and any pokemon trying to use this tree for that matter. I bet when I struck that Victreebel it went to another good place to find food. I.e. where enigma berries are kept. I am sure it's angry and ready to kill at first sight."

His taunts and threats were almost unbearable. "Cheap tricks will not save you, Saito!"

"Mono Estupido, that pain was from a mere grazing. i bet your body would shatter if i hit you directly. Let'
s try it out!"
------

The two pokemon were still staring at each other when Mimi finally remembered something she noted earlier. The bruise... maybe if she helps it, it will move to a new area.

"Let me get something around here for the bruise."

"Que?"

"...that's right, language barrier." Mimi had to think for a bit. How would she communicate with the plant. Then a light came on in her head. SHe started pointing at her side and making the shape of a bruise, then pointed at a nearby plant that eases the pain of such things and speeds uip the recovery. Unknown to them, it's one of the herbs used in Full Restores.

"Que? O... entiendo... pero, por que?" The victreebel nodded and moved so that the bruise was in full view. Apparently, it had mashed up the cell walls in that particular area and there was some water trapped outside of the cells, making them less tutrgid in addition to discoloration. Mimi grabbed the plant and rubbed it on the wound. Upon application, the Victreebel flailed for a bit before setting down and even letting go of the branch to rest firmly where Mimi stood.

"Usted me ayuda. Gracias."

"You are welcome." Finally, they were getting somewhere. "I think it goes me llamo Mimi."

"Si... me llamo Susana."
