Inferno: But now you all can see what happened after Rika and Bane went plummeting toward their watery doom.

Inferno and Sky raced across the bridge and followed the river. "Inferno? Do you think we'll find them?"

"I hope so," they kept going along the river looking for any signs of their companions. Inferno prayed that at least Rika survived. Damn it all he should hope Bane survived too. He saw Bane had some injuries on him and that Bane was protecting Rika. It was obvious Bane shared no love for his old comrades but this was a hell of a way to find out. Inferno knew he owed Bane an apology when this was over. That was providing that Bane survived.
Bane kept his head up above the rushing water as he and Rika were dragged along. He had hold of Rika in his jaw, she passed out when they hit the water. Now he was just concered with keeping both of them alive. As the water swept them down a rock was jetting out in the center. The river was dragging them toward it at a high speed. In his current position Rika was going to take the full force of the impact. Bane turned in the current and braced for the smash, he wasn't dissappointed. The pain of the crash nearly caused him to black out. As the river kept dragging the mightyena and unconcious raichu the land to their left began to lower. When the land was low enough to climb out of Bane started to swim toward it. The current was sweeping him along the rivers bank. By the time Bane reached the edge he was ready to collapse from exaustion. He hauled Rika up first then dragged his hind quarters up. He went over and watched her carefully. She was breathing normally and seemed to only have a few scrapes and bruises. After content Rika was fine Bane coughed up water then slowly passed out.
By mid afternoon Rika regained conciousness. She looked around a bit before remembering what had happened. She saw Bane next to her. She reached out and started shaking him, "Bane?.....Bane are you okay?........Bane please wake up." She started to get tears in her eyes when Bane opened his.
He coughed up some more water and was panting heavely, "What is it with you and wanting to talk?" She smiled at his little joke, it meant that he had to be okay, "You know swimming that damn river is hard especially when your stuck carrying an unconcious raichu."
Rika adverted her gaze, "I'm sorry Bane."
"Now I think we should move on. I want to get away from this river." Bane got up, although it was a draining effort, and started to walk into the woods trying to hide his limp from the leg that hit the rock. Rika tried to get up, but fell down and grabed her ankle. Bane turned back and nearly ran to her side, stessing his leg even more, and examied it. "It doesn't look broken. More then likely you just sprained it. Here hop on my back and hold on."
Rika was reluctant, "You have to be in worse shape then me."
"Don't worry I can handle your small weight." He motioned her to climb on. After a brief debate she dragged herself on his back and held on tight as he got up and started off. Despite the fact that Rika wasn't exactly a heavy pokemon her added weight was still a burden on Bane's battered body. He needed to rest but needed a nice secluded spot to do it otherwise his old pack might find them. Although this would make it tough for Inferno and Sky to find them it was the safest course.
Rika layed on his back and watched the trees go by. They said nothing for a long time, until Rika remembered something, "Ohh Bane?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you. Thank you for protecting me from those mightyena and keeping me alive in the river." Her voice was barely audiable to Bane.
"Don't mention it. I did what I knew I had to."
"So Inferno wouldn't kill you?" her voice took a slightly sharp tone.
"I don't care what he thinks I saved you because that is what my heart told me to do. I wouldn't have let those guys do anything to you." Rika was satisfied and started to drift off.
Bane kept going looking from spot to spot hoping to find a place that would be able to hide them. After fifteen minutes of searching he finally found a good location. The best part of it was that it was surronded by berries that emitted a smell that masked his own. This would allow him to hide without fear of being sniffed out. "Hey Rika get up I found a place that will do."
She slowly stirred, she enjoyed sleeping on his fur it was soft and warm, "Huh?....what?" She slowly got off his back.
"This place will do just fine. We won't have to worry about those damn fools. It's got cover so we can't be easily spotted. It's got berries that mask our scent and....."
"It's mine." A voice said. Bane and Rika turned and saw a scyther. "And I don't like intruders."
Bane looked the scyther over carefully, if he wasn't hurt this would be an easy fight, but that wasn't the case so he needed to find a peacefull solution, "We're sorry. I didn't know anyone had already claimed this area. We'll leave now."
The scyther shook his head, "Not going to happen your trespassing and now you must pay. It can either be in your lives or in her giving me pleasure heh heh heh."
Rika was terrified, Bane just started growling, "Not a chance in hell. I beat off a pack of mightyena that tried to do her harm don't think I won't do the same to you."
The scyther sighed, "as you wish." He launched a quick attack and sent Bane flying back. Bane got up and launched a few shadow balls. The scyther was too quick though, it dodged them all then lauched a headbutt followed by a swift. Bane was sent flying into a tree and nearly blacked out. Content that the mightyena was out of the picture the syther moved toward Rika. "I'm gonna have lots of fun with you." It slowly chuckled as it approached. Rika couldn't run so she used a thunderbolt. The scyther dodged that, "fiesty huh? Good I like them like that." When he was almost on top of her Bane jumped in and launched a bite into the scyther's face. The scyther reared back when Bane's fangs sunk into it's skull and it began to thrash. He used a cut attack that went down Bane side. The yelp of pain was muffled by the scythers skull. Bane launched a barrage of shadow balls right into the scythers face. Under the assalt the scyther was sent reeling back, blood gushing from when its head used to be. Bane fell to the ground and let out a yelp.
Rika ran up toward him, forgetting about her ankle, and looked at the gaping wound the scyther left. Bane tried to stand but could barely rise up enough to lay on his stomach. Rika began to cry, "WHY!? Why didn't you just let him have his way? We could have left without getting into a fight and without you getting hurt. DAMN YOU!" she slapped him. "You bastard why couldn't you just accept those mightyena's offer. We wouldn't be in this mess if you had. DAMN YOU!" She slapped him again. "Why the hell did you do it? Why did you do it? Why?"
Through out her damning and slapping Bane just layed their and kept his temper under control. She was exahusted from everything that happened, he knew that, she needed something to vent her emotions on. He was the only one there.

"Okay now tear the leaves in two and hold the stem of it." She complied a small trickle of ooze flowed from the leaf, "good now spead the ooze on my wound." As she did a burning sensation engulfed the area, "Yep that's it. One of the worst medicines for pain but damn if it can't close an open wound." As Rika went about the wound she saw he was right, the opening was ceiling and leaving just the slightest of scars. After the wound was closed Rika discarded of the leaves and of the Scythers corpse.
