Eternal Sorrow (Ch.16)
Inferno was knocked back by the intial collision, Scar's size giving him a clear advantage. Scar siezed the momentum and pressed the attack on Inferno, swiping again and again with his claws, and trying to bite him with his jaws. Inferno dodged them easily, while big, Scar lacked any real speed. Inferno found an opening and used a fire blast. The fire attack, with a little darkness in it, hit and knocked Scar back. Damien chuckled, "Not bad. But..." Damien charged forth throwing punch after punch. Inferno found Damien much harder to avoid, what he lacked in size he made up with sheer speed. Inferno noticed Scar move to his back. Inferno leaped over Damien, blasting him with a dark ball, sending him into Scar. Damien leaped up, brushed some dust off his shoulder, and went back into a fighter stance. He jumped forward continuing his whirlwind of attacks.
Sky laid there, shaking violently. She was oblivious to the battle going on, all she could think about was her trainer. For so long she believed that Karen had died because she had saved her. Sky blamed herself for the accident that took her trainer's life. Now she wasn't to blame. Two who felt wronged had plotted and murdered her. Sky shook more, tears in her eyes, she couldn't believe it. In a way she had killed her trainer, after all wasn't it her that had injured Damien and Scar? Sky had killed her trainer, she caused her murder. She shook even more.
Inferno was having trouble keeping ahead of Damien, his speed was unbelivable. Inferno tried to use an iron tail, but Damien dodged and kept the assault up. Inferno realized that the "dark power" Damien had mentioned must have been able to let a human keep the pace that Damien was at up. Scar moved in again, and for his efforts had four paws land on his head, using it as a spring board. Inferno leapt, turned and used a dark fire beam. He smiled as the attack sent the two hurtiling back. He landed and prepared to launch another but a dark ball soared past his head, cutting his attack short. He looked as Damien's hands sparked with dark energy. "Darkness is darkness. I love the dark. And you'll love it. You'll have to. Nothing but darkness for you." He preped two more shadow balls, one in each hand. He launched one, which Inferno easily dodged, but the second wasn't so easy to avoid. Inferno was hit, sent realling back, hitting a tree and sending a small yelp from his throat. Sky's eyes darted open.

Carnage swong a massive claw at Bane, who leaped back avoiding it, but he couldn't avoid the tail. Bane was knocked back, hitting the ground with a loud thump. Rika launched a thunder bolt, hitting Carnage, but he only grinned, "You'll have to do better than that!" He was then sent flailing back by a hyper beam.
Tia smiled, "Like that." Carnage broke through the rubble, snarling at Tia. He prepared to launch a poison sting/shadow ball barage, but was smashed by a large rock. He turned and glared at Blaze, who's eyes lost their psychic glow. Carnage dived for Blaze, a claw ready to swipe. He spun away just in time to avoid several shadow balls. His glare shifted to Thorn and Spike, "Insolent little..."
Spike spat, "Shut up!" He launched another shadow ball, Carnage dodging it easily, but not Bane's iron tail. Carnage landed on the ground with a loud curse. He spun around, sending claws and tail lashing.
Carnage stood up, "This wasn't how it was supposed to be! But no matter, without your little leader and his precious little Sky your no match for Carnage!" He leaped forward, slashing at Bane. Carnage leaped up and landed a poison/iron tail right into Spike. Spike rolled about, before crashing into a tree. Rika launched a thunder attack, but Carnage moved a mere inch to the left to dodge it. He sent Rika into the air, and Bane into a few trees, where he grabbed a hold of her. He beat away the others before moving his mouth to her ear, his mightyena mouth. "You haven't lost any of your fire. Will you still have that fire when I'm through with you? You seemed to lose last time. I bet you will again." Rika screamed out.
Carnage was about to say more but a monstrously powerful hyperbeam hit him square in his face, he went hurtiling through several trees, "GET AWAY FROM HER!!!" Bane stepped up, snarling. Carnage arose from the smoke, snarling at him. He lunged and swiped at Bane, missing and getting a iron tail in the face. He fly back, a snarl directed at Rika. Carnage was about to continued when Thorn and Spike latched on to each of his arms. Carnage roared ready to swipe them off with his tail, but Tia grabbed a hold of it, keeping it in place. Blaze leaped on to his back, taking a firm grasp on the wings. Bane ran forward, got face to face with the skull of his brother, and smiled, "Your first. Tell dad I said hello." He launched another hyper beam. It tore through Carnage's body, making him cry out in agony. Carnage surge up into the sky, shaking off his holders with surprising easy, but quickly came crashing back to the ground. He stood up, with visable effort, looked at them, panting, a claw over the hole in his chest. He looked amazed, stunned, as if it they had done the impossible.

Scar was moving in to finish Inferno off. As he neared a ice beam collided with him, beating him off. Sky walked to Inferno's side. Damien smiled, "So, your gonna fight then? I thought you'd just sit on the side lines, crying." He shrugged rushing for her and met a shadow ball. He slid back, grimacing. Inferno was up, growling. Damien chuckled, "So you'll fight as a couple? Fine all the more fun to be had." Damien and Scar charged forward. They started to send attack after attack trying to hit one of their opponents. Infenrno and Sky kept dodging, but were unable to retaliate. Then Scar made a rather poor swipt and got another ice beam to his face sending him back, cursing. Damien soon found himself trying to avoid their attacks, dodging bites, headbutts, and others. He missteped, fell and got a fire blast with an ice beam into his face. He shrieked in pain as he went flailing back. Scar arose, panting, "Damn you two!"
Damien rose, holding his right cheek, panting hard. He used his free hand to grab a mirror, lifting it up to his face. He slowly removed his right hand, revealing his right cheek had appeared to have melted, but the ice beam had frozen not long after it went liquid. Damien screamed, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!? MY FACE! MY FACE!" Threw the mirror to the ground, shattering it, "YOU'LL PAY! HEAR ME, YOU'LL PAY!"
Sky glared at him, "That will be the least of your worries soon enough! Your gonna pay for murdering Karen!"
Damien spat, "Not going to happen bitch! THIS IS WHERE YOU DIE!!!" He sent two shadow balls, forcing Inferno back, while he moved in on Sky. With a kick she was sent into the air, a punch sent her back, wide open to Scar's dragon claw. Sky saw it coming, and shut her eyes. She felt an impact, then landed on the ground with an oof. She was afraid to see what damage had been done to her.
********************************
Carnage stepped back, "How? I can't be injured like this. Not by you. Not by such fools."
Bane glared, but slightly smiled, "You're all alone Sarak. Death isn't here to help you anymore."
Sarak scanned his body, and his face showed his worry. Indeed Death wasn't in it anymore. He looked at them, "I don't need him! I can kill you all with one hand tied behind my back!" He leaped forward swiping at Tia, his left claw gleaming, she dodged and grabbed his arm.
Tia glared at him, "Let's test that theory you bastard!" She brought her iron tail up, severing Sarak's arm from his body. The snake staggered back, bellowing in agony. He reached at the hole, staring in disbelief. He stepped back, then lunged forward this time for Blaze, who easily dodged. Blaze leaped up latched onto Saraks back, and began pulling at his wings. With a grunt Blaze could feel the wings giving. Sarak screamed in pain, trying to knock Blaze off, but to no avail. Blaze used a fire blast, weaking the wings and pulled them off. Sarak's screams grew. He was losing balance, his vision becoming blurry.
He made another lunge, this one for Bane. Bane stood his ground, where Spike and Thorn joined him. Rika leaped onto Bane's back, preparing a shock wave, Bane prepared a hyper beam, Spike and Thorn readied a shadow ball. The attacks sent Sarak flying, where he flailed, making a horrible scream of pain, then landed with a loud crash. As the dust settled Sarak was on his knees, his one hand holding him up, he coughed up blood. Sarak stayed like that for some time, then he looked up, "Inferno....and Sky.....uhh..cough...they're up on that cliff somewhere." He nearly collasped, "Go. I'm done." he coughed up more blood.
Bane looked at him, obviously not trusting the snakes word, "How can we..."
Sarak chuckled, "I want vengence on him myself. If I can't.....urrgh....have it, then no one can. And honestly...cough...I don't like playing a pawn. Kill them...or else your friends will die." With a last cough and sputter Sarak's body fell to the ground, then began to crumble into dust.
Rika moved forward, "Lets go. It may not be much, but Inferno and Sky are in danger, we have to do something."
Spike nodded, "We'll help, we need to make up for our past actions." Thorn groaned. Bane bolted off, Rika beside him, the others were just a breath behind them.
********************************
When Sky opened her eyes she saw Inferno on top of her, his chest heaving. He smiled at her, "Your okay? *cough* good." She looked and saw his side had been torn open. She couldn't put any word to what she felt, she just stared, tears in her eyes. He kept smiling, "As long I could give you one last chance at them I'm happy. Please Sky, don't let them get away, you need to see them dead." She could still feel tears in her eyes.
She shook her head, "Inferno! That wound...is it..."
Damien laughed, "Fatal? Yes! No one could survive that, not even your precious Inferno."
Inferno was still smiling at her, "Don't worry. I won't go that easy. Just send them to the lowest level of hell, right were they belong." Sky was on the verge of crying.
Scar was laughing too, "I can't believe it! I was about to gut you when all of a sudden he came out of nowhere and put himself right in front of my attack. The look on his face as my claws tore through his flesh." Both Damien and Scar were laughing, Inferno licked Sky's cheek. "What a fool! To think he could actually care for you. He's truly the dumbest, foolish, weakest, and..." Scar sentence was cut off. He fell to the ground, the upper half of his head sliding off as he fell, his wings drifting off like leaves loosed from their branches. Damien screamed in pain, clutching what was held a right hand. He looked up, pain and astonishment on his face, "You took my hand." His gaze fell on Scar's sliced up body, "You killed Scar. You..." Damien was sent back by a hyper beam. He nearly went off the edge, but held on to solid ground. Sky was approaching him, blood lust in her eyes. Damien began to tremble, from fear, "Come on Sky. We can talk this over. Right? I can save him. I...I...I can mend the wound. He can b...b...be saved. Please mercy!" Sky didn't answer, he gaze still held the lust for his blood. Total fear was imbedded into every inch of Damiens face, "You'd ask it of me! I'd grant it!" Sky shook her head, "I'm s..s...sorry. I'm sorry Sky." He was trembleing fiercly, "Please!" A massive whirlwind rose around Sky. She slashed her horn, and sent a thousand razor winds at Damien, she didn't know how, but she didn't care. Damien screamed as the attacks went through him, sending blood splashing back. As the barrage stopped he fell back, piece by piece falling to the ground. Sky couldn't tell how many pieces he was in, there were just to many to count.
She turned and rushed to Inferno, "Inferno!"
He smiled up at her, "Great work. With just the right amount of flash. Heh..cough...you've learned since the last time you did something like this on your own. Remeber?"
Sky was crying, "Don't go."
Inferno continued, as if mute to her plea, "You took down that old leader of the mightyena. It was just a quick cut, but he died. It was just so plain. I would have done it with a bit...cough...cough...a bit more flash." He licked her cheek.
She nuzzled him, tears staining his fur, "Please...please Inferno, don't go. Don't leave me!"
He licked her again, "I'm sorry Sky. But that's the one thing I can't do for you. I wish I could, but I don't think fate will allow that." he coughed up blood.
She licked him, kissed him, trying to show him that she needed him, "Inferno! Please! I need you!"
He smiled, "I'm so sorry Sky. I love you....cough...my beautiful mate."
She looked at him, she was nearly blinded by her tears, but she could still see his smile, "I love you too.....my handsome beloved."
He kissed her, then his head fell to the ground, "I can feel the others. They're coming here. Tell them I was gratful for their company."
She brought her head to his, "Tell them yourself, please!"
He tried to sigh, but only coughed up more blood, "I wish I could." His eyes slowly shut, Sky screamed his name. He tried to keep them open, "Sky please, smile for me." It was a faint whisper, but she heard. She got down and managed a smile, he smiled, very weakly in return, "thanks." His eyes closed as the others came running in, only to stop dead in their tracks. Sky shook for a while, then let out a piercing scream. It reverberated through out the area, going into every single den. Alerting every one to her plight. The entire forest heard her scream, every body in it could feel her pain. Every one, but the soul she wanted to hear it most.
