In Service of the Serpent

In Service of the Serpent

Inferno walked though the court yard of the castle. He sniffed the air, it was thick with death, decay, evil. He smiled. He then stopped as a fearow appeared, "Inferno. Master Orochi needs you in the throne room." Inferno nodded and proceeded through the court yard and into the main keep. He made quick progress, finding the main door open, he slid inside and walked up to his dark lord. "You have need of me my lord?" he said with a bow.

Orochi smiled, "I wanted you to see the full scope of our army now." He made a wide gesture, encompassing the whole room and the various figures that populated it. Inferno looked over the collection, various humans and pokemon were present, some of which looked vaguely familiar, but then again he had served Orochi before his slaying, so it was obvious that he'd recognize his old commrads. Then his gaze fell on the bizarr arbok, with the wings and claws, along with the wierd coloring. Something about that arbok just didn't sit right with Inferno, but he quickly dismissed the feeling. Orochi was still smiling, "And so the next step is done. Now we prepare for the final move."

Inferno nodded, smiling, "Yes my lord." he looked back at the gathering, "Quite a collection."

At his comment many stirred, Orochi held up a hand, "Be still. There is one thing I want taken care of. You!" he pointed to the mightyena with tentacles and wings, the one called Death. "Go with him, you know who to seek out. Find and Kill. Spare no one." Death nodded, but Inferno noticed a trace of discontent on his face. He didn't ponder on it much though, he was already leaving, he had a good idea who they were going after.

Inferno had been among Orochi's men, well since his resurrection, for about two days. He had learned of a group that was becoming a particular nuisence, a rather peculiar group at that consisting of: a mightyena, a raichu, a bizarre typhlosion, a just as bizarre tyranitar, and an absol. Inferno sighed, he didn't know why a group of five would be so problematic, but then again....they apparently had defeated a good number of the men that loyally served Orochi, Death and Sarak having failed three times already. Inferno wasn't sure why these five were proving so problematic, but then again he had been hearing that there was originally six of them. But he never could hear who the sixth person was, it was as if they were being forced to remain quiet about it. That didn't even touch on the fact that several of Orochi's minions seemed to despise Inferno, which Orochi didn't like. Inferno was more than a bit curious, but in the end he didn't care, he would loyally serve Orochi and fulfill his lords desire of purging the world of all weaklings.

Inferno and Death were making progress toward their goal, along with a small group of Orochi's men, Inferno also noticed the rather malicious glances Death gave him, "Do you have a problem?"

Death shook his head, "No. No. I'm just a little angry about being a little sniffer. Besides, I could kill the target on my own."

Inferno couldn't help chuckling, "From what I've heard you've tried before, and failed. In fact you failed three times in a row." He could tell Death wanted to respond, but he didn't. Inferno shrugged, "So what's this I've heared about this group once consisting of six?"

Death went rigid, "That well, uhh....we took care of the sixth. The thing is when we did that, a little trouble occured. The entire operation was botched by a betrayal, and Lord Orochi is more than a bit perturbed by the incident."

Inferno nodded, that would explain why so many were afraid to speak it. "So what are the names of our prey?"

Death snarled, "The raichu is Rika. The mightyena, is my brother Bane. The typhlosion, Blaze, the tyranitar, Tia."

"And the absol?"

Death seemed to hesitate, "Her name....is Sky."

"Sky?" he thought he heard that name before. He was told that he was never deemed necessary to deal with the group so he had been given no data on them. So then why did her name sound so familiar, and so....pleasant? He shook his head, "Why is it they've proven so tough to destroy?"

Death shrugged, "We don't know. Maybe it was do to the sixth one, we have yet to attack them since then. This time should be different, this time they will all die."

Inferno nodded, a devilish grin on his face, "For our lord."

Death nodded after a brief time, "Yes. For Lord Orochi."

***************

Inferno was running as fast as he could. "Damn it all!" He was forced to retreat before he could even try to kill them. But it was strange, they knew his name, they looked at him, disbelief plain in their eyes. Something about them all was just wrong. Especially that absol, her face was still in his mind, her voice remained in his ears. He tried to rid himself of the thoughts that plauged him, thoughts of that one absol and of how familiar she was, of how....beautiful she was. "Damn it all, why couldn't I stay to at least kill her!!??"

He stopped as a dragonite appeared from the sky, Inferno could tell it was a fellow servent of Orochi, "Master Inferno." she said with a bow, "Lord Orochi has had a change of plans, he needs you to head to Terria Castle, the attacks on it have gotten worse and it can not fall just yet." Inferno nodded, "I've been given the task of taking you there." Inferno nodded again. She grabbed a hold of him and took off for Terria mountain.

The trip was short, thanks to the dragonites speed, they arrived in about a half-hour, where anyone else would have at least a couple days walk. She placed him down, "Lord Orochi wants you to keep the castle safe, Sarak will be sending men to bolster the men here, and the Lord himself is on his way." Inferno nodded, thanking her. She took off and Inferno turned to look at the castle.

A human soldier came out, "My Lord." he bowed, "We've prepared a special room for you, as Lord Orochi specified." Inferno nodded, following the soldier to his rather extravagant room. Inferno couldn't repress the smile that came to his face, he inspected it, then lept onto the bed, relaxing. He was amazed by how great it was, then he began to think of the absol, "Sky? Why does she torment me?" He heard a knock, followed by a seviper entering.

"My lord our scouts report that the rock types are moving again."

Inferno let a wicked smile grace his face, "Good. I was getting a bit bored not having a chance to fight." He shot off the bed, "Alert the men, have them ready to watch a very entertaining show." Inferno began moving to the front of the castle, ready to unleash some tension.

The rock types appeared, led by a steelix, and they stared down Inferno, who just stared right back. The steelix let out a roar, "This is our land, we shall have it back."

Inferno chuckled, "This land was yours. Now it belongs to Orochi, and I, Inferno, shall see that it remains that way."

The steelix shook his head, "Do you think you can beat us? You a fire type?"

Inferno had an evil smile, "Why don't we find out?"

"So be it." The rock types charged. Inferno countered their charge, and began knocking them about like they were pebbles. His dark fire tail, his dark fire beam, all of his attacks were doing collousal damage, many of the attackers crumpled and had to flee, or be carried off. He did a forward roll, using his dark fire tail to launch off a geodude, landing in a circle of enemies. "Lord Inferno!" Inferno just smiled, spinning, his tail glowing, knocking them off their feets. When they were all air born, he used his dark fire beam in another circle, to blast away all of them. One by one the massive army, which had plauged the castle for weeks were being beat off like they were nothing more then irritating flys. Eventually only the steelix remained, "You still think you can win." Inferno was barely panting.

The steelix gulped, "I don't believe you're as weak as I originally thought, but I will still fight for the land of my kind!"

Inferno shrugged, "Admirable, but stupid." He lept up, avoiding the steelix's iron tail, and landed his own tail on top of it's head. Knocked to the ground it couldn't avoid the dark fire beam, which created a large explosion. Inferno landed, a smile on his face, which quickly became a snarl when he saw that the steelix wasn't there. "Damn! He fled!" Inferno cursed a few more times, then turned and went back to the castle. The men all stared at him in disbelief, a few of the females looked at him in a way that he knew ment they wanted a night with him. He shook his head, something told him not too let them, but he wasn't sure why.

***************

A few days passed before Orochi arrived, Inferno was at the front of the greeting party, "My Lord. The attacks have practically ceased. We only see a few of their men now, and they don't bother fighting."

Orochi smiled, "I take it they fear you."

Inferno nodded, "I beat down their army without much effort, they were far to easy to defeat."

Orochi's smiled widened, "Good. I guess you didn't need Sarak's men. Oh well I guess we'll send them..."

"Back?" Orochi and Inferno turned as Sarak landed, "Ssssorry my lord, but that can't happen now."

Orochi gave Sarak a dark look, "Why?"

Sarak bowed, "The group, which consisted of three extras, which is now four, have burned the village to the ground. I nearly had them, until that freak of an umbreon appeared. They are coming here Lord. They saw the message you sent me, so it's obvious they will head here."

Inferno tilted his head, "Why?"

Orochi's face remained the same, "No matter. We shall destroy them all here. We'll let them fight our soldiers, then Inferno, you shall finish them off."

Inferno nodded, "As you wish. So they are now nine?"

Sarak nodded, "Yes, a vaporeon, a ninetales, a marowak, and that umbreon that appeared when they reached Biogen's main base."

Orochi nodded, "They shouldn't be a problem for you Inferno. Kill them when they come."

Inferno smiled, nodding, "It will be my pleasure Lord Orochi." Maybe killing her would wipe that absol from his mind.

***************

Inferno's sight was slowling fading as the dragonite carried him. His thoughts were on the battle, mainly on when that absol Sky was moving in to finish him off. As she charged, he thought he could see tears in her eyes, like she was unhappy about what she was doing. Inferno wasn't sure why she felt that way though, they were enemies. He was a servent of Orochi, always had been.......hadn't he? "What's with them? They know me, but..."

The dragonite sighed, "They are the reason you died. That's why they remember you. You died killing that absol's beloved mate, you only died because of the betrayal, had that one fool remained true, you'd have a complete memory of your greatness and your past service to our wonderful lord."

Inferno grunted, "My body's in so much pain."

She patted him, "We are almost at the main castle, Orochi is close behind, he will heal you." Inferno grunted again, then his vision slowly blacked out.

Inferno awoke some time later, Orochi standing over him. "Rise Inferno. Rise and feel the new power coursing through your body."

Inferno did as he was told, feeling amazingly well, "How?" Then he noticed, protruding from his shoulders, two snake heads. He looked at them they moved at his command, they were under his control. "You now hold a portion of my power, use it to take vengence on those who thought to kill you a second time."

Inferno tested out the snake heads, they had amazing reach. He smiled, "I will my lord, I will." He thought of the absol, "You my little friend, will be the first to fall. Just like your beloved mate." He readied himself for the battles to come.
