I do not own Pokemon, or it's contexts. All the main characters in my story are fictional, and are not modeled off of any characters, whether they be real or fiction.
The Boy Becomes a Friend
Okay! I've got this again. Here we go! Again, with the disclaimer. I do not own Pokemon or any of it's merchandising rights, blah blah blah. Let's get on with it already!
Dustin exited the forest with his entire family in tow. He went to the top of a hill and looked over at Pewter City. The Rock-Hard City of Stone. To the left, Dustin saw the setting sun. "We'd better camp for the night."
'We'd better camp for the night! I'm getting tired!'
Even Luna exercised a yawn. 'I'm tired too, daddy.'
Dustin laughed. "Okay. Peachy, Silas, can you go get some firewood?"
'Can do!' Peachy said.
'I will happily oblige with your requessst.' Silas said. They went into the forest to grab some wood for a fire.
"Alright! I'll go ahead and set up the tent for us." It was a good thing he brought the 6-person tent with him. If he had taken the pint-sized tent like his parents had told him to, then his family wouldn't have been able to sleep with him. He got the tent setup quickly enough, but by the time he finished, the sun had almost set. He had taken a break to set up a fire from the wood that Peachy and Silas had brought back. He got some hot dogs and some marshmallows from his bag. He was running low, as he was snacking in-between breaks. He would have to go get some more when he could. He passed out sticks to everyone, and Luna took hers with a bit of uncertainty.
'Daddy, why do we have these?'
"So we can make our dinner and dessert! Sylvia, wanna show her?"
Sylvia smiled. She grabbed a hot dog and stuck it on the end of the stick and stuck it into the fire. "The trick is to not leave it in there long enough to where it burns. If it burns, it won't taste good."
Luna did what she saw her mom do, and soon, her hot dog was cooked to perfection. Everyone else's was completely burnt. 'Why is all yours burnt when mine isn't?' She said with a smart-alecky tone.
"Well, you got lucky. I, for one, like my hot dog burnt!" Dustin said into the air proudly.
'No, he started dozing off. He left it in there too long.' Sylvia explained. Luna laughed at this. At that moment, a Bulbasaur popped out of the forest. It was the same Bulbasaur that they had helped out from those Beedrill and Weedle.
"You must have smelled the food, and wanted seme, right?"
"Bul! Bulba!" He looked at the food expectantly.
Dustin grabbed a hot dog from the package and handed it to Luna to cook for him. "Can you cook that for Bulbasaur?"
'Sure, daddy! I don't really think Bulbasaur wants a burnt one!'
'That's for sure!' Bulbasaur had joined in the thought speak.
'So, you can speak in thought?' Dustin asked.
'I didn't even know I could.' Luna grabbed his hot dog from the fire and gave it to Bulbasaur. He took it with his vines.
'Thank you. And thank you for saving me from those buggers.' (Before you ask, he has a European accent. Yes, I went there.)
'No trouble at all. We were happy to do it.' Dustin said. He ate his burnt hot dog and grimaced as the burnt part hit his tongue. It tasted horrible. Luna noticed this and heated another one up for him. She cooked it perfectly. "You must have inherited grandma's great cooking skills!"
'I've never met your momma, but it sounds like she's a great person and a great cook.'
"She really is."
They finished eating their dinner of hot dogs, with Luna recooking some of them, and went on to the marshmallows. Dustin explained to Luna about marshmallows. "These, it's okay to burn! It does taste much better the longer they cook, but these you need to make sure that they don't fall in the fire. The longer they're in the fire, the greater chance they're gonna fall in the fire. The right balance, the right way. That's what my dad taught me. He said it worked for marshmallows and other stuff. I've never seen it work for other stuff, though."
'Well, if your dad said it, it must be important.' Sylvia said.
"Yeah, I guess your right." He handed out the marshmallows. After they were done, they decided it was time for bed.
'I'll just be getting out of your hair then.' the Bulbasaur said.
"What are you talking about?" Dustin said.
'Well, I would think that a person like you doesn't want a weakling like me for a slave.'
Dustin was startled by what he referred himself as. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! None of my friends are ever going to be my slaves. They are my family. I would never call them slaves."
Bulbasaur looked at him. 'Well, you don't want a weak family member.'
"Are you kidding? You have potential. You just need to awaken it." He winked.
'Really?'
"Really. If you want to join us, you're more than welcome to." Dustin reached into his bag and pulled out a Pokeball. He placed it on the ground and waited for Bulbasaur.
Bulbasaur walked up to the Pokeball and pressed his nose to it. He was drawn into the ball and it began to shake for a couple seconds, then it died down. Dustin picked it up and released Bulbasaur. "Well, what do you want your name to be?"
'You mean, I get to pick it?'
"Of course!"
'Hmm.' He thought for a moment. 'I want to be named William.'
"Okay! William it is!" Dustin yawned. "Well, it's been pretty hectic, but we should get some sleep."
'I'm cricket for that!' William climbed into the tent and laid down. Sylvia followed him, with Luna. Next, Peachy and Silas. Then Dustin. He climbed in and adjusted the blankets on the air bed. Everyone climbed in, except for Dustin. He climbed in after everyone else. He was cramped, but he wanted his family to be comfortable. He got into a comfortable position and started to sleep.
That night, Dustin had a weird dream.
(Dream State.)
Dustin awoke to find himself in a pitch-black area. He could see himself, but nothing else.
"Hello?" All he heard was an echo. "Hello? Anybody there?"
"Someone."
Dustin turned around to find a Lucario looming above him. "Who are you?"
The Lucario chuckled. "I am who I am."
"Stop talking in riddles! Who are you?"
"You are who you are."
"I didn't ask who I was, I asked you-" Then it hit him. "You're me."
The Lucario nodded. "It seems your encounter has awoken your subconscious. You will ultimately lose to the Lucario within you."
"What do you mean? I only have the Aura! I'm not a Pokemon!"
"Heheh. You will soon find out. Have a pleasant day." The Lucario started to dissapear.
"Wait! Come back!"
(End Dream State.)
"Come back!" Dustin jerked awake. It was morning. He was surrounded by his family all looking at him. "Was I talking in my sleep?"
"Well, it was more like you were sleep shouting. We were woken up by you." Sylvia said.
"I had the weirdest dream." As he tried to recal it, all that came to him was black. "Oh well. It mustn't have been an important dream if I can't remember it. What time is it?" He looked towards the east. The sun had not risen yet, and te moon was hidden from sight. "Alright. I can't get back to sleep, so let's train. William, you're gonna be my best bet in this whole thing. The Gym Leader here uses Rock Pokemon. He'll be weak against your attacks."
'Alright! Finally a chance to show the world what I'm made of!' William stated.
"Okay, for starters, I'm gonna have you spar with me."
'Wha-? Are you crazy? YOu're gonna get yourself killed!'
"Nope. Just trust me."
William took a while deciding. 'If it were anyone else, I'd say get bent. But you? I think you'd be a potential sparring partner. Let's go.'
Dustin got in a ready stance. "Come at me as if I'm an enemy. Make sure you- WHOA!" He ducked. A flurry of leaves barraged itself right at him. "I was talking!"
'An opponent will not let the enemy rest.' He launched a Vine Whip at Dustin.
"Right you are!" Dustin swatted at the vines, and they ensnared his arm. He pulled back, bringing William with him. As he got closer, Wiliam shot another Razor Leaf at him. Dustin passed to the side and spun William around. The vines released him, and William was sent flying. "Use your vines to adjust your landing and use it to your advantage!"
William adjusted himself and used his vines to steady his landing and to spring himself off. He was already preparing for his next attack. A seed shot from William's back, and Dustin was forced to duck out of the way. As he did, though, he heard a scream. He turned around and saw Luna with the seed on her body. The vines were slowly spreading across her body.
"Luna!" Dustin rushed to her side and tried to slash the vines off, but they grew too fast. He finally went for the seed. When it was pulled, the vines stopped growing and sapping. Luna was devastated. She looked as if she was gonna die of shock. Dustin turned around to William. "Why? Why did you hurt my daughter?"
'It was an accident, man! Bugger off!'
"No, you bugger off!" He shot an Aura Sphere at William. It hit him, and he flew back and hit a tree. As William hit, a resounding crack filled the encampment. At this, Dustin let out a fierce howl. The moon was showing fully. It was a full moon.
Dustin started to clench his fists, then they became more elongated. His five fingers became three, and fur was growing in patches. After that, Dustin blacked out.
