Chapter 10

Ch. 10

Something was shaking me. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a weird sight. A green haired goddess was facing down at me.

"Donovin please wake up. I am so sorry, please wake up." The goddess continued to shake me until my eyes started to adjust to the light that was surrounding her. The light almost made her look like she had a halo around her head.

"Whatever you say goddess." I started to get up.

"Wait a moment. What did you just call me?" After I had propped myself up by my arms I looked over to the green goddess to realize that the person right next to me wasn't a goddess but a Kirlia.

"Well hello there. And what is your name little one?"

"Did my attack really cause him to lose his memory? No way. Come on Donovin it is me, Jenavee."

"Oh come now little one. Jenavee is a Ralts, not. Wait a moment, what are you anyways." I reached into my hip pouch and pulled out my Pokedex. I pointed the scanner towards the Pokemon and hit the scan button.

"Kirlia, the feel Pokemon. The evolved form of Ralts." I put the Pokedex away in the pouch and looked a little closer at the Pokemon.

"Jenavee is that really you?"

"Well of course it is me. Who did you think I was?" She placed her hands on her hips and I was a little taken back. Was I supposed to believe that this little thing was my little Jenavee. Well if my Pokedex was right then I guess Jenavee just evolved.

"So when did you evolve?" She just looked at me for a second and turned with a pouting look on her face.

"What do you care. I could be any other Kirlia out there." Those words cut deep. Then I realized what I'd done.

"Man I must really be a big jerk, I'm sorry Jenavee. I just didn't recognize you. I mean you really changed quite a bit." She turned to face me.

"You really think I have changed that much?" She smiled and twirled around a few times then stopped and bowed to me. I clapped at her little performance.

"Not only that, but I can see by the way you just moved now that you have become a great dancer." This caused her to blush and she lightly bounced around a bit before she came back to stand on tip toe and hugged me. I pulled her into a tight embrace and she rested her head on my chest.

"When I had finished my song and looked at you I realized what I had done. I did not know that my song could put humans to sleep as well."

"Well the good thing is, if I ever have trouble falling asleep at night you can sing me to sleep." We both started to laugh, but I meant every word. (Everybody has trouble sleeping once in a while). I let her go and she stepped back a few paces turning her head away from me.

"Donovin I was just wondering." I nodded to indicate that she should continue. "I was just wondering if you are going to catch any other Pokemon?" I took that into consideration.

"I won't lie to you Jenavee. If the opportunity arises I would like to find a new friend. Though if you think that I will use you in the process of catching another, then your wrong. If I do come upon a Pokemon that I find that can match you, which I seriously doubt, I will try and befriend it then if it wishes then it can come with us on our journey."

"I do not understand. I thought that you would use me and get all the Pokemon that you could grab. You would use me to get the highest rank as a trainer. I thought...." I pulled her into another embrace and within my arms. She cried like a baby. Obviously she must not trust me still. Or maybe she harbored some deep hate to us humans?

"Was that what you thought all us humans were like? Cold, Heartless, or even Cruel. You thought that I was like the men back at the Pokemon center." A single tear fell from my eyes. "I guess that it is my turn to be angry. I bet you thought that when I had used my sword that I was without mercy. Well you are wrong. Even though those men were out to hurt us I only drew my sword to protect, not only myself but also you my dear. So dry your eyes now." I lifted her chin up and wiped away her tears with my thumb and kissed her softly.

Not one of those kisses where you kiss your mum, but a kiss to wipe away all your fears, and tears. The kiss only lasted a moment but for the both of us it felt much much longer. She slowly melted into the kiss and reached up to hold my head. After the kiss she looked up at me.

"Donovin can you ever forgive me? I have done you wrong. I have misjudged you. Can you forgive me."

"Of course my dear. For you I would go to the ends of the this earth to see your smile. Now give us a smile." She looked a little taken back, but a moment later it started to appear. At first it was just a smirk, but then it turned into a full smile. She buried her face into my chest again. We stayed like that for quite a while until the sun was on its last legs of the day.

"I believe that we should head back into town and find somewhere to sleep tonight. Or if you like we could set up camp here." As I looked back the way we came

"I would like to spend the night out here with you." I nodded and she backed up so I could stand up, then I proceeded to set up camp. It didn't take long until I had set up our campsite for the evening. After that I cooked us up some dinner and we sat down to eat. I had a nice hot cup of soup and a few pieces of toast, while Jenavee had some simple Pokemon food that I had heated up in it's can over the fire. About half way through our dinner Jenavee spoke up.

"Donovin would you tell me what your home is like?" I placed down my fork and finished my toast.

"My home is very far away. I have a mother and a younger sister." She nodded and I continued. "My father I never really knew since he left after my sister was born and I was three. For the reason I can only guess, since my mother never talks about him. I live in a village of about 40 people at the most. Though its a small village we all are very happy there. I left the village to set out and try and find myself. How little did I know what awaited me in the world outside the village."

"Wow it sounds like a nice place. Do you think that one day we can go there?"

"If you like. Though I don't know if we can." Jenavee gave me an inquisitive look and asked me to continue. "I am sorry but the reason I said that, must be kept a secret until a later time." Thoughts of my real home came rushing through my mind. I could feel Jenavee start to look into my mind and I quickly threw in a mental image of the false town that I had told her.

"Donovin please tell me why." I let out a slow breath.

"Well I can see that you probably wont stop asking me why until I tell you." Well here goes. "You see the reason why is that the outside world is kept a mystery to all that live in it. For reasons I have no clue. Also no person that has left the village since I have lived there has ever returned."

"You still have not answered my question."

"Alright. Just before I left the town which as you can guess caused a great stir in the town. The village elder came to me and said that if I were to return to the village that the world outside was to remain outside. For if I brought back anything to the village they believe that that which is brought back would bring about the downfall of the village."

Jenavee gasped. "What kind of downfall?"

"Nobody rightly knows, but nobody is willing to find out. For fear grips the village."

"How sad, but I guess that answers the question about why nobody returns to your village."

"Oh, and why's that?" She gave me another smile.

"They found the outside world so beautiful that they did not wish to return." I nodded. In the back of my mind I was kicking myself for telling this bunch of lies to her. How I wish I could be honest and truthful to her. But would you want to hear that your whole existence is nothing more than a game, a toy, a work of fiction. I didn't think so.
