Chapter 30
Journey to Another World 2
Ch. 11
"I am sorry sir but from this point on, you'll have to ride a bike down to the end of cycle road." The girl said. Looking at her I was a little surprised that a girl like her would be working as a road guard. A girl around 5'10", with long blond hair, wearing a white button down long sleeve shirt with a purple ribbon around the collar, and a very short pink skirt said. "Due to the slope of the hill, it's to dangerous to walk to the end."
'Well this road does go down the slope of Mount Cornet. So it would obviously be at a steep slope. But what about us.' Jenavee asked her.
"Unfortunately you'll have to either ride with your trainer or go into your balls." She stated without so much as a care. Looking at her I could tell that she really didn't care for Pokemon or just the fact that there were two girls hanging all over me. Looking at the two of them I could see them give the girl a cold stare. Almost as if they were daring her to try something.
"You have got to be kidding. There should be a pass or trail that leads down from here." To which she told the girl.
"NO THERE'S NOT! The slope that starts off from here is so steep that a trail or such from this point to the base is nearly impossible. So if want to continue from here, you have to either fly or use that bike that you have and get going." She said in a more urgent tone then placed her hands on her hips and scowled at the girls. "So if your quite finished trying to Weevile your way out of this, then I say 'Recall your Pokemon and be on your way!'. Not wanting this to escalate to a worse condition, I took that girls out to the entrance of the way house and had them face me.
"What has gotten into you two? Are you afraid that if you go back into your balls until we reach the end of this slope that I wont let you out again?" I looked at both girls and they both lowered their heads in shame.
'It is nothing like that Donovin.' Jenavee said as she looked down at the ground.
"Jenavee's right, Donovin. That girl is hiding something from us. I can just feel it." So turning back to the cycle road way house I tried to see the road that we were supposed to go down but couldn't due the size of the building. Turing back to the girls I could see Rena nod to Jenavee about something. "Yes. I totally agree with you."
"Agree with what?" I asked Rena. To which she quickly turned to me and gave me a guilty laugh.
"It is nothing. Nothing at all." So turning back to the building I placed my hands on my hips and stared at the building.
"Well. If we don't want to get in trouble with the law and probably avoid being hurt by falling down the slope, then I guess we have no choice." So turning to the girls I held out their respective balls. "I guess this will be the first time that the two of you actually are recalled into your balls. So...I promise that once we're down the slope then I'll let you two out again."
To which the girls slowly nodded then I recalled them. "Jenavee and Rena return." Calling out the recall command to the ball. A red beam shot out from each of the balls and hit the girls, from there they lost their respective colors and took on a red color. As the red grew and their colors faded to red, they gave me a final wave before turning into fully red versions of themselves and then be sucked in by the beams, into their balls. Giving their balls a quick kiss I shrank them down and placed them on my belt and then turned back to the building. "Well the sooner I get down this slope, the sooner I let them out." Pulling out the broken down bike I set it up and hopped onto the bike and rode through the building. Not bothering to even give the receptionist a single look.
Once I was through the other side I could see the slope of cycle road and realized that if I did try and walk it, I'd surely fall. Further down the road I could see several people dressed in cyclists skin tight cloths. But what really caught my attention was the fact that every person that I saw down the slope was a trainer and a few were actually battling each other.
"Oh and before I forget, there is a good chance that the other trainers on the road will want a battle with you...Have a nice day." A voice said from the quickly closing doors of the checkpoint.
'Damn bitch. She knew that there were trainers on this road and deliberately didn't tell me about them. I should go back and teach that bitch a lesson, but I've already caused enough damage in that last town as is.' So turning back to the road I took a deep breath and began to peddle. 'Well at least I've got some experience in cycling. Maybe if I just peddle fast enough, I'll be able to escape the gaze of some of these trainers.'
Looking down the slope I could see that there were eight trainers at different locations down the slope, but most were at the bottom end. So if I peddled as fast as I could I could avoid most but the last two remaining trainers. So bending over the handlebars I quickly sped down the slope and only to be stopped by someone pulling in front of me.
"And where do you think your going in such a hurry." A man said while holding out a pokeball and giving me a devilish smile. "You know what we have to do now. I challenge you to a Pokemon battle."
"What are you talking about. We can't battle on a slope like this." 'Oh crap, now I've done it. I've just given him a huge advantage over me.'
"That's what you think. Go Granbull." Throwing the ball out and from the opening ball erupted the giant purple fanged dog. "Now call out your Pokemon."
'I believe that Jenavee's got a lot of experience, but I don't know about Rena. Plus since that's a Granbull which is a normal type, Rena would have a type advantage' "Alright if you want to battle that badly, then I'll give you a battle. Go Rena!" I said as I threw out her ball and she materialized on the slope, only to start slipping and sliding down the slope. Looking at the other trainer and his Pokemon, I saw that the two of them were both laughing.
"Would you look at that Butch. That Pokemon of his can't even stand upright on this slope. ALRIGHT BUTCH, USE SCARY FACE AND THEN BITE!" The giant dog went down to all fours then growled quite loudly at Rena while she had just started to get her footing which had gone unnoticed due to the fact that she was watching her footing, then charged at Rena. Once the mean look was done, the overgrown dog opened it's massive mouth to latch onto Rena's limb.
"Rena lookout! Jump up!" Just as Rena had regained her stance she looked back at me, but allowed the dog to bite her on her left thigh.
"Ah it hurts. Donovin help, it hurts." She turned to me and gave me a very pleading and hurt look, with one of her paws reaching out to me.
"It's ok Rena. Just do as I say and he'll stop. I need you to use Force Palm right on his nose." Rena didn't bother to look back at me but quickly slapped Butch on his nose and he quickly yelped then let go of her, then backed away several paces. "Well done. Now I want you to use Bone Rush but throw the bone away." Quickly placing her palms together then slowly spread them to see them fill with a strange looking transparent blue bone looking thing. Then she took hold of the left end of the bone only to quickly fling the bone away towards the other trainer.
The Granbull's eyes went wide when it saw the large bone, gave a happy bark, then quickly turned and chased after the large blue bone. Only to stop a little ways away when the bone quickly started breaking apart. It slowly turned back around and slowly turned it's head around to give off a deep throated angry growl.
"Rena quick now. I need you to use Quick Attack just like you did to me back then, and use Force Palm to his side." Unfortunately when she tried to move her foot slipped and she fell to the ground on her backside.
"Ouch...Oh no." She looked up and saw that the dog had fully turned around and was now on it's way back.
"Enough of this. Butch use Crunch and finish this." With that the dog gave off a deep bark and quickly charged back towards Rena. She looked back at me and gave me a pleading look again.
"Please Donovin...Help me."
"Keep your eyes on the target Rena." She quickly turned around and faced the dog. "Now I need you to use Bone Rush once more to stop him from hurting you." With that Butch bit down hard on the bone that she had made from the bluish material, quickly shattering it. "Now quickly use Aura Sphere." Placing her hands slightly apart from each other on her left side, a small ball of blue liquid substance formed, only to be pushed away.
The ball quickly rushed away from her and slowly wobbled as it made it's way over to Butch. Time slowed as the ball was bitten down upon and then exploded. A massive cloud of dirt and debris puffed up and surrounded both Rena and Butch. Minutes slowly ticked by as the cloud of dust swirled around, as we waited to see the outcome of the battle. Just then a comet of dust shot out of the could and landed on my side. The dust quickly dissipated around the figure to reveal Rena standing slightly tilted to which she was able to remain standing upright.
The dust took a few more minutes to dissipate, but when it did, it revealed that Butch was out cold on the ground and starting to slip down the slope.
"Oh no Butch." The trainer said as he quickly peddled over to his dog and quickly picked it up and hugged it. "You did a great job Butch. Now you've earned a nice long rest." The dog turned red, then disappeared into his ball. The man didn't say a word after that as he peddled over and handed me a card, then quickly turned and headed back up the slope.
"Well that was interesting. Even though he had the advantage over me with the slope. He still was not able to defeat me." She said as she placed her hands on her bulging hips.
"You mean us Rena. He wasn't able to defeat us." She turned and gave me a big smile. So pulling out her ball I was about ready to recall her only to see her shake her head. As she looked down the slope.
"I can see that there are many other trainers down the slope. So since I am already used to dealing with this slant, I think it would be a good idea that I battle against anybody else that challenges us." It was quite strange to think that just a few weeks ago, that this confident Lucario was a scared little Riolu that didn't want anything to do with battling. And now I could see, for the first time that she was able to handle a battle. Since the last time she had battled, was probably back in that forest we'd passed through.
"Well you do have a point. But I have a condition though." Rena slowly turned and looked at me. "You need to start trusting me a little more when we battle against another trainer. For if you don't, you could get really hurt. I shudder to think what could have happened if that dog had either caught you in his Crunch attack, or actually used those giant tusks of his." So after my little lecture Rena lowered her head and nodded to me. I scooted a little closer to her and placed a hand on her shoulder and she looked up at me.
"It's just that I don't want you to get hurt Rena. These battles aren't going to be against wild Pokemon or Jenavee, there against other people who know how to fight. They know how to take advantage of a situation and use that to their advantage." It had been quite a while since the last time I had given someone pointers on the finer points of battling. It was almost like back in my Renaissance fair days. Teaching the kids on how to fight and such.
"I am sorry Donovin. I thought that I could handle a simple little Bite attack. I guess I just got a little overconfident." She said in a sad voice.
"It's ok Rena. Nobody perfect. Even I make mistakes from time to time." She looked up at me with questioning eyes, as if asking me to continue. "It was a bit to much to ask of you to battle well on terrain that you've never battled on before." To which I got a smirk out of her. So with that, Rena jumped onto the back bolts of the tires axel and we rode down the rest of the slope, only to be stopped yet again by another trainer.
"I witnessed that battle that you did against that Granbull. And I would very much like to challenge you to a battle against my Pokemon." Another biker said. But this time it was a girl in the same tight getup that the other biker wore. To which I couldn't help but stare at her perky breasts, only to be brought back to the world by a slap to the back of my head by Rena.
'Do not think for a second that I did not see where you were looking.' She said privately to me. Then hopped down from her standing position on my bike, then walked around to stand in front of me. Only to get into a ready stance against the upcoming opponent. As she did a bring it motion with her outstretched paw.
"Well it seems that your Lucario is ready to battle. So..." She quickly turned and peddled a little ways away, then pull out a ball from her belt. "Let's get this battle started...Go Spooky!" She said as she threw out the ball and from it erupted a Haunter. The Gas/Ghost type Pokemon looked over at us and gave off a long chuckle as Rena started to shiver at the sight of the Ghost. Then pulled down it's eye lids and stick it's long pink tongue out at her, which caused her to shiver more. Slowly she turned and looked at me out of the corner of her eye, and I could see that she was not prepared for a fight like this.
"It's ok Rena. I know how to deal with a Ghost type. So keep your eyes on the battle and do exactly as I say." With that she gave me a shivering nod then turned back to see that the Haunter had disappeared.
Rena started to panic as she quickly started looking frantically around for the opposing Pokemon, looking more and more freaked out. "Rena calm down and focus. I need you to use Foresight." But before she could do that, the ghost appeared right in front of her and gave her a nice long lick with it's overly long tongue.
"Eww. Discussing." She said as she just stood there, dripping with the ghosts saliva.
"RENA FOCUS. YOU NEED TO USE FORESIGHT." To which she looked back at me slowly and nodded. Closing her eyes, her dreadlocks stood on end and started to vibrate. Then all of a sudden both of her paws took on a bluish glow then she opened her eyes again.
"You can not hide from me anymore Haunter." And just as she finished the Haunter materialized a few feet away from her and gave her a skeptical look, as if saying that it didn't believe her. Then started to laugh, not believing her.
"I think we've had enough play time. Haunter use Shadowball to end this." Just like when Rena used her Aura Sphere attack, the Haunter did the same but instead of a blue ball, a dark ball that swirled with a menacing purple aura formed. Only to be launched when it had reached the size of a bowling ball.
"Stand firm Rena, and use Counter on it's Shadowball." So when the ball was close enough to her she grabbed the ball with both paws and then do a swirling motion, to which she threw the ball back at the surprised Haunter.
"Haunter don't just stand there. Move your ghostly but out of the way." But the ghost was to stunned to listen to it's trainer as it watch the ball fly back at it. Unbelieving that it's own attack was now being returned at it.
"And follow it up with an Aura Sphere of your own." The second ball was launched only a few seconds after the other was returned. So when the first ball collided with the ghost it exploded, causing another big dust cloud to spring up then her ball fly right into the could, only to explode as well. The Haunter was thrown out of the dust cloud and landed next to it's trainer, with a set of little Starlies flying in circles over it's face.
"I really did it. I defeated a ghost Pokemon. I..." As Rena was happily jumping around she quickly stopped and started to clutch at her stomach. "What is going on...My stomach feels like it is on fire."
"You stupid ghost. If you'd only dodged when I told you to then you wouldn't have been hit by not only your own attack, but that Lucario's attack as well." Pulling out it's ball she recalled the ghost only to pull out another ball and throw it into the still decent sized cloud of dust. "Now you won't be able to tell what I've just released." She laughed. "Quickly Smiley, use Rollout." Just then a blue beach ball sized Pokemon rolled out of the smoke and nearly flattened Rena in the process of it's roll.
Unfortunately when I tried to call out to Rena to either roll out of the way of the beach ball, or get to her feet she wouldn't listen and would get flattened yet again by the ball. So not wishing to see her hurt any more I quickly pulled out her ball and recalled her.
"What the heck do you think your doing!?" She screamed at me as the ball quickly returned to her side and stopped rolling. The thing turned out to be a Wailmer, or what looked like a 1/1000 of a size whale. As it sat there it seemed to rock back and forward as if not able to find an anchoring point. "I was just about to beat that Lucario of yours."
At first I didn't get a chance to answer her as I whispered something to the ball and looked back up at her. "Since you've called out another Pokemon. I thought that it would only be fare to call out another of mine." Plus, Rena wasn't listening to me for some reason, and I knew that if things continued that she could get really hurt. So clipping her ball back to my belt I pulled out Jenavee's and threw it out. "It's your turn Jenavee. Take the field." With that Jenavee materialized out of the white light and floated a little over the ground.
'I have been listening in on the battle from my ball and know everything that has been going on. So let us beat this trainer together.' To which she didn't even look back at me and said in her usual telepathic voice.
"It won't make a lick of difference. Smiley use Rollout once more." The ball gave out a wail and then quickly started to roll towards Jenavee.
'Jenavee...Do you know any electric attacks?' I asked her telepathically. To which she nodded. 'Good. This fight should be over pretty quick then.' As I quickly explained my plan to her.
Once Smiley was close enough she easily floated away from the ball and let it roll on past. Once it had passed, she mimicked Rena's Aura Sphere move. Instead of a ball forming, a spider web effect started to form of electricity. Once Smiley started to turn back around for another pass, she quickly let the ball have it and watched the thing slowly stop rolling. With that she did the same thing again, but instead of a spider web effect, the electricity looked more like a miniature lightning storm. Throwing her palms towards the ball the lightning quickly hit Smiley and Smiley let out a long high pitched wail as it was struck by the Thunder Bolt attack.
"I didn't know a Gardevoir could use electric attacks." As Jenavee slowly floated over to me and stood right before me. Awaiting to see if he Wailmer could come back and fight. "Smiley can you still fight!?" She yelled at the Wailmer. Only to get a long low pitched wail as a reply, signifying that it couldn't go on.
"And I do believe as they say, 'And that is that.'. As I peddled a little forward and gave Jenavee a long hug from behind. "You did wonderful Jenavee. I'm very proud." To both the other trainers and my surprise she quickly turned around to smile at me and then placed both her hands on my cheeks and gave me a deep kiss. A deep blush quickly spread over my cheeks as this had been the first time that she had openly done something like this in front of someone.
With that done. The other trainer quickly recalled their Pokemon, only to quickly peddle up the slope and off towards the local Pokemon center. A quick thought popped into my mind as I thought of what would happen if a trainer battled against someone who's Pokemon have all fainted. But that thought quickly left my mind as Jenavee turned and returned my hug.
'I think that we need to follow her and find out what is going on with Rena.' So with a nod I pulled Jenavee's ball out and recalled her, then quickly peddled back up the slope towards the previous town and to the Pokemon center within.
It didn't take me long to go on ahead and peddle up the hill as all the other trainers would quickly advert their gaze when I looked towards them. Probably not wanting to deal with someone who could easily take on a Haunter and defeat it. So as I entered the Pokemon center, (after collapsing the bike). I saw the other two trainers sitting on some chairs against the far wall, with their noses buried in a magazine. So walking up to the front desk I saw that the local nurse Joy was nowhere to be found.
'Probably out healing those other two trainers Pokemon.' So pulling out Jenavee's ball I released her and she looked around.
'Well it would seem that we arrived at the center without any due incident. Have you check in Rena yet?' To which I pulled out her ball and shook my head.
"My guess is that nurse Joy is probably taking care of those trainers Pokemon." As I threw a thumb over my shoulder. Indicating the trainers sitting in the chairs. "You obviously know that you took out...sorry...battled against the girls Pokemon, while Rena defeated the boys." Just then the nurse Joy stepped out of a set of double doors and stepped up to the counter.
"Welcome to the Pokemon center. My name is Nurse Joy. Would you like me to take a look at your Pokemon for you?" She said. It all seemed like she had either rehearsed the whole thing several times, or that's what she said to every one that walked in through the doors.
"Um...Yes please." I said after a short pause. "My Lucario, Rena has been acting a little weird, and I was wondering if you could find out why, plus I would also appreciate it if you could heal her, since she got a little scuffed up during her last battle." To which she nodded and accepted the Pokeball from me, then turned to look at Jenavee.
"And what about your Gardevoir here?" So I turned and looked at her.
'I feel perfectly fine thank you. It is Rena that needs the attention right now.' To which brought a smile to my face. It was nice to see that she was now worrying about Rena, instead of seeing her as a threat. As I hugged Jenavee with my left arm around her waist.
So with a quick bow she took Rena's ball and disappeared through the double doors, and into the back of the center, while saying that the two of us could get a bite to eat and that we would be alerted when things were done. The two of us went into the cafeteria and sat down and ordered up some food with the current days earnings. I ordered a simple burger with fries and a coke, while Jenavee had the usual Pokemon chow with a bottle of lemonade that I recommended she try.
Placing down my drink I looked out the window and thought about what else I'd missed out on while we traveled through the forest. Not only that, but what was happening to my body in the real world, how much time had passed there, and of course would I be able to return there?
'I believe the saying is, 'A penny for your thought'.' So turning to look at Jenavee, she gave me a worried look then placed her hands on either side of her bowl.
"Just thinking about a few things is all." I said as I took a long drink, then set it down. But when I looked up at her again I could see that she wasn't going to take that as an answer. "Sorry. I was just thinking of what other kind of attacks the two of you know." I said then took a long pause. "I don't remember ever teaching Rena how to use some of the attacks that she currently knows. Not to mention, but when did you learn how to use electric attacks." To which she finally nodded, but was unable to answer when the nurse walked in holding a tray which looked like a cookie sheet with six indents in it with only one taken up.
"I am sorry to say, but I have good news and bad news." She said as she held out the tray and I took Rena's ball.
"Well, I guess the best thing would be to hear the good news first." To which she gave me a nod.
"Your Lucario is all healed up and ready to leave the center." Another nod from me. "The bad news is that I cannot treat what is causing her to act up here. But I do know what is causing it and how to fix it." Another nod. "You need to take your Lucario to a breeder..." I slowly looked to Jenavee and saw that she was looking down at her food, but had a big blush on her face. Then I turned back to the nurse.
"And what's that supposed to mean?" I asked, like a normal trainer.
"It means that your Lucario is in heat, and that she needs to find a mate very soon..."
'Oh crap...'

With that Butch bit down hard on the bone that she had made from the bluish material, quickly shattering it.
