Brotherhood Ch.4
Brotherhood Ch.4
Mecha: *ahems* Umm...I'm the only one here. Jewel and the girls went out to get some things, and they took Xehta to be their pack mule. They said they'll be back by chapter 5 though, so no worries. Umm...*rubs head with a paw* Geez this is easier when I've got them around. *sighs* Oh well. Well, last chapter we saw the shadows of a coming conflict. Could danger be spiriling toward the group yet again? What will happen to the pups if it is? Perhaps this chapter will answer some of those questions.
Azur let out a squeel, as she sped across the water on Ferra's back. The little houndour was smiling happily, loving the surfing she was doing. Flint was on the shore, bathing in the sun, his new sword by his side, and a giant smile on his face as he enjoyed the sun's warming rays. Inferno and Sky were snuggled in the shade of a palm tree, while Bane and Rika were running in the shallow water. Tia and Blaze took a hint from Flint, and basked in the sun as well. Death wasn't with the others, he was inspecting some cliffs over the ocean.
The gang had managed to get the beach without incident, something Inferno and Sky were greatful for. And were enjoying their first day there. The pups obviously loved it, the smiles proof enough of that.
But Inferno had a nagging feeling at the pit of his stomach. He knew something was going to happen...he didn't know what, when, where, or why...but he knew it was going to be something. But there wasn't much he could do about it, so he decided to lay back, and relax before anything happened. Plus, if he was wrong, no matter how unlikely that seemed, he didn't want to worry the others.
Azur came ashore, giggling and all smiles. Ferra was right beside her, just as happy as the little hourdour. As Azur shook dry she was tackled into the sand, Flint running away, laughing at her. She got up and quickly chased after him, barking threats at her brother. Inferno and Sky chuckled, watching their pups running left and right, sister trying to catch brother.
Inferno chuckled to himself, remember when he used to be a pup, sharing similar fun with his friends. Carefree days spent play fighting, boasting over who was braver, tougher, faster, or smarter. Time spent being a pup, and enjoying the fact that life wasn't at all complicated. But that was so long ago, now he was the proud father watching his children play. He had also been through more complex and painful things then most pokemon could even think would happen. Fighting an organization of genetically altered monsters, dieing at the hands of a madman, coming back to life with no memory of the past, to serve a demon snake. Sometimes he wished he could go back to carefree days, but that wasn't going to happen, so the best thing to do was to be happy with what he had, and he had quite a bit to be happy about.
Sky was in much the same reminicense as her love. Her memories focused on her puphood, with her old trainer. Seeing the look in her eyes as she went from one crush to the other. Sky couldn't help but smile, her trainer used to fall in love more often then a lopunny. One cute guy after the other would have her saying, "I'll never love another man like I loved that guy I just met" and Sky loved her trainer for that quirk. Damien had taken those times away though, but Sky couldn't say she was better off in her old life. After all, she met Inferno, loved him, and now had two pups thanks to him. And it was because of him that she endured bitter lonliness, agonizing pain, and even fought the very male she loved, just to have him back at her side. Sky was happy where she was and she wouldn't have her life any other way.
Blaze and Tia were also drifting off to their youthful days. Blaze laughing at himself for not noticing just how much Tia loved him, since it was pretty obvious. Maybe he didn't want to ruin their friendship, regaurdless, he didn't notice, and wasted his time with that slut who later rejected him for his appearance after Biogen. He hated his home for the way they treated him, but it didn't really matter anymore. He had Tia, his Tia, the one who loved him as much as he loved her. And Tia was glad about it. She had been lonely without Blaze around, but was overjoyed to find him again. Their lives had been vastly different, but it ended the same, with them together, and neither would trade that for the world.
Bane's pleasant memories were far back, during his early pup hood, before Death changed. But those had indeed been good times, spent with a loving mother, good friends, and a good brother. Granted, his father was a monster, but since he never paid attention to any of the pups, Bane didn't really remember much of him. But of course that would all change when his mother died. Death went insane, becoming even worse then their father, and life went down hill fast. The pack became even more violent, and in the end was destroyed because of their actions. He spent weeks trying to live on his own, but that plan was gone when he found Inferno, Sky, and the only pokemon to treat him well in he didn't know how long. Despite her flaws, which Bane knew he possessed just as many if not more, Rika was the best mate he could ask for.
Rika's memories were much like Inferno's minus the loss of a mother, and ensueing conflict. She remembered life being slightly duller after Inferno's departure, but she managed to keep herself entertained with the others in the area. Her greatest surprise was when she stumbled on that thunderstone, that somehow wound up on the ground. When she saw she was a raichu, she let out shocks to the others around her in glee, much to their dismay. She had just evolved before setting out to the Love Festival that brought her back to her old friend. Then she met Bane, and couldn't believe how things progressed. She had gotten a small crush on him on sight, but didn't think it would lead to a real relationship. But it did, and even through all the turmoil, thoughts of betrayal, they were still together.
Death had just flown back, finding nothing of interest around the cliffs. But no pleasant memories came to him. He had none, only memories of being ignored, unwanted, even hated by his own mother. How that hate made him into a mightyena of purest malice. And how that malice got him killed, not once but twice. The suffering he suffered trying to take vengence, had turn desire and need, into a forced march. Doing it simply because he had no other purpose left. And then, he was knocking at the door of oblivion a third time, and he knew he wouldn't come back from it. But before he could enter, Ferra came and snatched him away from the door he had come to know so well. The time spent in her care was the best memories he had. He couldn't believe it was happening at the time, but he was falling in love with the first pokemon ever to show him unconditional compassion and care. And what made everything so great, was that she felt the same.
Ferra by far had the most uneventful life. She grew up normally, friends, family, people she trusted. She grew up and went out on her own, saying bye to those friends and family. She came upon the cave she would call home, and made it a nice little place where she could rest and relax. She lived day by day, eating, sleeping, and talking with the locals who'd take the time. But then she found a beaten up blot near her home, and without thinking twice, despite the threats to her life, she took him to her home, and helped him recover. Upon first meeting Death, she couldn't help but find him cool. He was a mightyena with wings and tentacles after all. But when she looked into his eyes, she saw that with all his threats, he was really just a lost soul, trying to find his way in a world that he couldn't live in before. And as time passed, she grew to admire him, enjoy his company, and later, thanks to Inferno, realize she truly loved him.
Azur and Flint blinked, looking to eachother, then to their family, which were all dreamily staring off in the distance, nuzzling one another. "What's happened to them Azur?"
"I don't know...why would I know?"
Flint rolled his eyes, "I thought you were the intelligement one."
Azur growled, "Watch it fugly!"
"You are you calling fugly, miss big butt!" Azur pounced him, and the two went at it like any siblings would. The adults all brought out of their recollections by the playful tossle. Inferno chuckled, getting up and seperating them, "Come on you two, can't you get along?"
The pups huffed, turning their backs to one another, after a stuck out tongue exchange. Inferno just chuckled, before Flint turned to his father, "We gonna do something else papa?"
Inferno shrugged, "I don't know...maybe if you two would behave..." the pups immediatly got side by side, smiling up at their dad. "We're being good!" they said in unison, Azur putting a paw around Flint, "I wove my brother."
"And I love my sister." he replied, mimicing her action.
Inferno laughed, the others doing the same under their breaths, "Alright. I guess...we can go to a special hill. It's got a great view, I can tell you that with certainty." The pups cheered, running around their father, thanking him again and again. Inferno just laughed more, and started heading off, the others following.
As Blaze watched, he looked to Tia, and felt slightly depressed. He couldn't give her children, they were in different breeding categories. Knowing that made him feel horrible, he could see the joy in Tia's eyes when she looked at Azur and Flint, and the longing in those eyes to have children of her own. Tia looked to him, smiling and picking him up in a hug, "What's wrong?"
He smiled back at her, nuzzling her, "Nothing really. Just thinking."
"About?"
He sighed, "About...how can we have kids? We aren't in the same..."
She kissed him, "Don't worry about it. I'm sure some how we'll find a mother who can't support a pup of her own, or maybe a pup who...lost his mother. I'm hoping for the former, but I won't mind the latter."
Blaze smiled at her, kissing her, "Okay. If you say so, I won't worry." he stayed silent for a bit, the cleared his throat, "Would you put me down now?" Tia giggled, doing so, scratching the top of his head. Blaze blushed, smiling at her, walking beside her again.
************
"Ha! This will be to easy!" a dark figure said with a chuckle, walking forward, "Come on, we've got some scum to wipe clean. I've got a glorious future ahead of me! And they won't stand in front of that dream any more!" The figures behind him all nodded, as they followed him toward the target. "When I find them...I shall make them pay for my past humiliation!"
************
"Inferno, is this place really as nice as you say?" Sky asked.
The houndoom smiled, "Have I ever been wrong before when it comes to a location?"
Sky smiled, nodding, "Alright. You win. I hope it's gonna take my breath away." Inferno chuckled, kissing her cheek.
************
"Come on Saria! We've got to hurry! They sent that power hungry one after them! We need to tell them what's coming!"
The latias nodded, "I know! But do you really think that they are in that much danger?"
"Better safe then sorry. And don't forget...he's not above taking a hostage."
"Right." the latias shook her head, "So much for not getting them involved."
"I think we both knew that they were gonna be involved regaurdless of our feelings on the matter. No point lamenting, we've got to stop the Brotherhood."
"Right." she nodded, speeding up, forcing him to do the same.
Mecha: *sighs, whimpering* Man, it's boring here without anyone. How on earth did I survive Sorrow and Hope? *shakes head* Oh well. *notices the camera's on* Wha!? Oops. Umm...sorry bout that. Uhh...*ahems* Well, it seems this chapter just creates more questions, and less answers. We do get to see the inner workings of the group, and you got to wonder...how will Tia and Blaze have...umm pups? Cubs? Whatever...*shrugs* They aren't in the same egg group after all. *tsk* To bad. They are a really loving the couple, hate to see that bliss shaken by a lack of little ones. *shrugs* Well, I guess I'll be seeing you all next chapter. Man...we need a funny moment though don't we?
Computer: Funny moment? Request accepted. Preparing funny moment. *lightning rod appears, and zaps Mecha*
Mecha: *growls* Damn you you fucking machine! I'm gonna dismantle you!
Computer: Threat detected.
