Chapter 6

Chapter 6

It had been a week since Jack and his Pokemon had first come to the city. The Riolu had grown out of her playful destruction and would now snuggle up to Sasha without and issue and in fact preferentially to Laura, who was slightly jealous at the change of allegiance. Still, she wasn't sore anymore and her private time with Jack and Sasha had gone back to normal.

Jack in the meantime had researched the gym in the city. The leader used the grass type, which Jack was certainly pleased about, since he was aware of the grass-type's biggest weakness: fire. When he told Sasha and Laura the news they were both scared and excited. This meant that Jack really did intend to take on the gym challenge, and it also meant he was going to face many hardships along the way. Both Sasha and Laura mentally prepared themselves to give him lots of special encouragement, then giggled to themselves at the thought. It wasn't like they needed an excuse to sleep with him. They had come to give each other a steady fluid diet daily anyway.

The Eevee had warmed up to Jack as well and once snuggled up to him while she was asleep and woke up with her tiny lips pressed against him. She had woken him up and was horribly embarrassed until he scooped her up in his arms and gently stroked her ears and back and tail until she fell asleep again.

Since then Jack had considered making the Eevee his own as well and had contemplated which evolution he would eventually transform her into.

At one point Jack had filled up the tub to give Riolu a proper bath and the Eevee just jumped right in and splashed around joyously.

"Would you like a bath too Eevee?" he asked, soaping up his hands and gently scrubbing down Riolu's head.

She replied happily and swam around splashing and spraying water with her mouth at Riolu, who responded in kind. The Eevee dove under the water and then came right up beside Riolu and splashed her again. Riolu laughed and tackled Eevee under the water before they were both picked up by the scruff of their neck and dangled in front of Jack's accusing stare.

"All right, calm down you two," he said before smiling and dunking them both to the bottom.

When he took them out he let Riolu down on the mat and blow dried her off even as she held onto the head and opened her mouth, blowing her cheeks out wide. Once she was all dry Jack opened the door and released her back into the room. She laughed and giggled as she climbed onto Laura's chest and fooled around with the Lopunny's breasts.

Jack closed the door so that only a sliver was open and turned to Eevee, who was watching shyly and smiled as he scrubbed her down, kneading the muscles on her shoulders and back, making her purr contently. Then he turned her over on her back and scratched her tummy, making her laugh with delight.

Jack picked her up gently and held her above his head. He smiled sweetly and brought her down and kissed her forehead.

"You know Eevee, I don't like just catching Pokemon. I think it's better if the Pokemon chooses its trainer. That being said, it would be a great pleasure if you would join us on our journey."

The Eevee hopped down from his hands and then turned and climbed up his leg and from there up onto his shoulder. She kissed him with her tiny mouth and licked his cheek. Then she padded down to the door and pried it open. She collected a Pokeball from Jack's backpack and rolled it back into the bathroom. She stopped in front of Jack and smiled, placing one paw against the button and dematerializing into red light. The ball clicked shut and 'pinged' when the Eevee had accepted to stay. Jack picked it up and held it close. Sasha came in then.

"Did I just see Eevee - oh!" she smiled at the sight of Jack holding the red and white ball in his hand.

"She's decided to join us," he replied, before adding, "All right, get ready. I'm going to the gym."

Sasha was taken a little off guard by the statement but helped him off the floor and said to him in a respectful tone: "We won't let you down Jack."

He gave her a quick hug and thanked her in reply, then led her back into the main room and announced the plan to everyone. They all seemed a bit apprehensive, but that was quickly shaken away with Jack's seemingly unshakable confidence. Sasha, Laura and the Eevee all went back into their Pokeballs and Jack picked the Riolu up and sat her down on his shoulder, where she stayed laughing and giggling at the height.

Finally he was on his way, and walked through the busy streets of the downtown marketplace pausing for a few moments to look into the stores. Riolu was entranced by all the lights around town and was hopping up and down excitedly on Jack's shoulders whenever she saw something that caught her eye, which was all the time. Jack finally had to take her down from his shoulders because she had started pulling his hair, and gently cradled her in his arms all the way to the gym.

The building itself wasn't any more or less remarkable than every other building except for the fact that it was very well taken care of and had an expansive garden out front that greeted Jack's nose with a plethora of scents and smells of flowers in bloom. He felt instantly relaxed and even Riolu had stopped bouncing around enough for her to take whiffs of everything around her.

Jack opened the door to the gym and looked inside. It was a beautiful, lush, indoor garden. There were trees and shrubs all over and Pokemon and their female trainers were playing together and planting seasonal flowers in the spare patches of soil still left dotting the floor.

"Whoa..." said Jack, amazed by the scenery.

"It's quite something isn't it?" came a female voice from behind him, "If this amazes you, you should see the electricity bill every month."

Jack was shocked by the voice and turned around instantly to see a beautiful young woman, perhaps in her early twenties standing behind him, her hands behind her back and a soft, silk shawl around her shoulder over top a flowing blue and green dress.

"Uh... Y-yeah, it sure is. I-I was just admiring..." stuttered Jack apprehensively.

"Oh what a cute little Pokemon you have there!" the girl squealed, "I've never seen this type before, is it new to the region?"

"Oh! Ah, no, yes, maybe... I'm not sure. I found her egg in the woods abandoned. She only just hatched a few days ago. This is a Riolu."

"She's so darling!" The girl reached out to touch the little blue puppy and Riolu snagged her fingers ad giggled childishly. "Oh! And she's strong too! You must be a powerful trainer to have command of such a young Pokemon already."

"Actually, I uh... haven't actually caught her yet. She's not really mine," said Jack.

"What?" the girl exclaimed with surprise, "Then you must be exceptionally powerful. I can already tell that she has a very strong bond with you."

"Ah... well, actually miss, moving on; I was wondering, who is the gym leader here? I'm taking on the gym challenge and so..."

"Oh you're looking for Erika then. Come on, I'll show you the way."

Jack followed diligently, taking in the sights and sounds of the amazing complex. The girl lead him through a hedge maze, which she explained was a test for trainers to pass in order to reach the gym leader, but she didn't see any harm in taking the fast way, since he would find his way through anyway.

Then they came to a large clearing surrounded by flower gardens on all sides and a small but deep pool of water in one of the corners.

"Wow. Is this where I'll meet Erika?" asked Jack.

The girl giggled, "Oh silly, I'm Erika. You've met her from the beginning." The girl took a step back and bowed. "I'm the one you'll face for your badge. I look forward to it Jack." Erika held out her hand and Jack took it, a little shocked but prepared for this challenge. "Well Jack, for the next little bit, we'll be enemies. I hope you're prepared." She broke the handshake and walked to a small incline, where she stood and held three Pokeballs. "I have here three of my best Pokemon, Jack. Beat all three and you will have earned this gym's badge. You may use as many Pokemon as you like, but only one at a time. Are you ready?"

"Yes," answered Jack, beginning to shake a bit with nervousness.

"Very well, then I will start this battle off. Come out Bellsprout."

Out popped a tiny root like Pokemon that hobbled as it walked to the center of the ring. Jack almost fainted right there, but wasn't about to show it. He called out his coup de grace, seeing no reason why not, and suddenly Sasha took stand in front of the little grass Pokemon.

The Bellsprout lasted all of 6 seconds as a single hit from Blaziken's fire attacks wiped its health to nothing. Next, Erika called out her Victreebell, whom also did not last very long; having not enough speed to get a single attack off before a flamethrower quickly finished it off. Finally, Erika called out her Vileplume, and she gave Jack a wry smile.

"You've had no problem up till now Jack, but this Pokemon is different. Vileplume: Polyspore!" The great flower headed Pokemon shook itself violently, spores of many different shades falling all around the battlefield. Even Jack had to cover his eyes from the dust. When the dust settled though, Sasha was on the ground, asleep, paralyzed, poisoned, and confused, or so his Pokedex status reader said. There was nothing he could do with her now, and he called out Laura, who took a fighting stance and landed a good hit against the Vileplume.

But it wasn't enough.

The Vileplume shook off the hit and used Polyspore again. This time though, the Lopunny managed to stave off sleeping and paralysis, but remained confused and poisoned. She struck herself over and over, heedless of Jack's pleas to snap out of it. The poison finally took over and Laura fell to the ground, fainted after her brutal assault, on herself. Jack sighed, sweat beading on his forehead.

"If both Sasha and Laura were defeated so easily, how am I supposed to win? My only other Pokemon is Eevee, but she's never seen a real battle." He looked around the clearing, the only remarkable feature being the pond. Then it hit him. He recalled his Eevee swimming and splashing in the tub earlier and had a quick brainstorm. "It's a long shot, but it's my only option now." He said.

"Well Jack, have you run out of Pokemon? You seem apprehensive about your next choice," said Erika, having grown far colder towards him during the battle.

"I have one," he replied, "And I will stake this battle on her alone."

He called out Eevee, and it was Erika's turn to look surprised. "An Eevee? You haven't even transformed it yet? What powers could it possibly have?" she asked.

Jack did not reply, but shouted out to the Eevee, "Dive into the pond Eevee, quick!"

"Vileplume: Polyspore!" shouted Erika.

The carpet of dust fell over the playing field but Eevee had just made it into the water, completely unharmed.

"Eevee, take some water and spray the Vileplume! Eevee: Distraction!"

The little cat-dog Pokemon sucked in some water into her cheeks and popped out of the water, She ran full tilt at the Vileplume and sprayed all of it into the flower's face. It backed up, hardly phased but still wiping its eyes.

"Now Eevee, I know it might not work, but use Last Resort! This is all or nothing!"

The Eevee understood, and with a calling of her name she stood, her tail in the air, as she began to glow a light shade of blue.

"Vileplume: poly-"

The Eevee took off. She ran circles to fast around the Vileplume that it couldn't even see the blur, let alone its target. The Vileplume watched carefully but was struck in the back. Hard. And nearly toppled over. It turned, but was struck again. Again and again and again. The Eevee launched itself at the giant flower Pokemon with a fury that not even Jack could see. Erika called out to her Vileplume to use its attacks, but the Vileplume was so distracted that it couldn't focus on even its most basic Sleep Powder. The Eevee continued its assault until finally she skidded to a stop, exhausted and worn, useless for all other attacks. The Vileplume swayed, unable to take any more orders. It wobbled on its feet and slowly, and much to the surprise of Erika, fell flat on its face, knocked out.

"Vileplume!" called Erika, running over to her Pokemon and running her hand lovingly over its petals. "Oh Vileplume, you did well. Sorry." She sent it back into its Pokeball and stood up, watching as Jack collected his Eevee in his arms and let her sleep. She had been reduced to an inch before passing out as well, since her Last Resort really should only work when she has run out of all other attacks. She had to use all her other attacks in a single shot in order to pull it off, rendering her weak.

"There, there Eevee," he cooed, "You can sleep now. You did very well. I'm proud of you."

"Jack," said Erika, watching the exchange, "I can tell right now that there was no way I could have beaten you. Your bond with your Pokemon is stronger than any trainer I have fought thus far. Though not unshakable, you are definitely destined for greatness in the Pokemon League. It's my pleasure to give you this badge, as proof of your victory."

She handed him a small green badge shaped like a flower. It glittered with a sheen he had not experienced before and he gripped it tightly. "Thank you Erika," was all he could manage to say.

She laughed a bit and swept the hair from her eyes. "That was an incredibly risky thing to do with your Eevee, you know that right?"

He sighed, "Yes, I know. I shouldn't have-"

"The Last Resort attack shouldn't have worked," she continued, "Unless the Pokemon using it has used all its other attacks."

Jack nodded.

"Your Eevee must love you very much to inflict that much pain on itself to use such an attack without spending its other attacks."

Jack smiled down at Eevee, asleep in his hands and he stroked her ears. "It's not less love than I show for my Pokemon, Erika."

She smiled kindly, "That was the right answer, Jack. Here, I want you to have this as well. It's a Technical Machine. If you ever catch a grass Pokemon, use this to teach it Polyspore. You saw how powerful it was in battle, use it well."

"I will. Thank you," he turned to leave, cradling his Eevee in his arms rather than sending her back into her Pokeball. According to Laura, being in a Pokeball really doesn't compare to the feeling of being carried by your trainer. "Though it only works that way if the trainer can carry you."

Jack left the gym more proud of his Pokemon than he had ever been. His heart swelled magnificently as he regarded his Eevee. When he took them to the Pokemon center to be healed he brought out Sasha and Laura and explained the events to them. They too were very happy for the little Eevee, still asleep in his arms.

"Don't wake her now, alright. I want to get a surprise first. I'll let you back out in the hotel."

The two Pokemon nodded and disappeared. Jack then walked to the department store that the city was so famous for and went inside. There was so much to choose from that Jack almost didn't know where to start. But he knew exactly what he was looking for. He came to a stall with many coloured glittering stones. His hand hovered above them as he decided which to take. His team was in need of an electric type, and knew there wouldn't be much chance to find any in the wild later on. But thinking on it, the Eevee loved water very much. His hand drifted to the water stone, knowing that she would feel the greatest about it. He bought it, and then left for his hotel room once again.

Once inside he closed and locked the door and let his Pokemon free. The Riolu hopped around and crawled up onto Sasha's shoulder and the Lopunny took a seat on the far bed.

"So what's this surprise?" asked Sasha curiously.

Jack smiled. "I'm going to evolve Eevee," he said, "And I'm going to give her a name."

The two Pokemon smiled and grew excited. He put down the Eevee and shook her awake. "Hi Eevee. Did you sleep well?"

The Eevee woke up slowly, her limbs still weakened from exertion but feeling a lot better than before. She sat up on her hind legs and looked at everyone happily, staring into the proud faces of her comrades. She noticeably smiled at them, not knowing of what she was about to experience.

"Eevee. It is an honor having you with us, and so to welcome you to the team, and to reward you for your win today, I want you to have this," Jack held out the blue stone and the Eevee knew instantly what it was. She looked at Jack, her eyes flooding with tears as she pressed her paw to it.

She flickered with a blue light that enveloped her and swirled around her with hundreds of streams of watery forms. Her body began to grow, her legs extended, her tail grew long and mermaid like. She could feel warmth and a watery feeling inside her as her body took on its new shape. When it finished she had evolved into Vaporeon, luscious curves and B-cups on her chest. She looked as though she were human shape as well though, her legs much like Sasha's or Laura's but ending in paws. She looked over her hands, fingers and thumbs included. She smiled happily and looked at Jack.

"Thank you Jack," she cried, "Thank you so much." She wrapped her arms around him tightly, tears streaming down her face like diamond waterfalls. Her voice was soft and gentle, with a fluid quality to it that Jack couldn't quite place. She sniffled as he pulled her away from him, his shirt now a little bit damp.

"And now, your name. Maya. Do you like Maya?" he asked kindly.

She burst into tears of happiness, crying over his shoulder and hugging him around the neck. Sasha and Laura looked on smiling happily at the new team member and their trainer. He had proven his worth not only to them that day, but also as a firm competitor in the Gym Leader challenge.

Meanwhile, at the gym in the city, Erika was busy at her computer. A screen with another woman's face popped up on the screen.

"Hi Erika," the crackled computerized voice called out, "You don't call very often."

Erika smiled, "There's a new trainer in the challenge. I want to register Jack ( ), number 58374, in the list of high ranking trainers."

"Okay, and how many badges has Jack earned so far?"

"Just my one," replied Erika.

"Just one? Erika, you know we can't register a trainer on the high profile list without at least 3 badges. Every trainer trying to make a name on the road would seek him out. We can't do that to him."

"Oh trust me, this trainer can handle it. He has what it takes to become the champion of the league. I stake my gym on it."

The woman on the other end sighed, "All right Erika, I'll take your word for it. But if it turns out that this trainer fails because of your recommendation, you will lose your gym. You know that right?"

"I'm well aware."

"I hope you know what you're doing. He'll be ranked at the bottom. There's no way I'm giving him an actual ranking yet."

"That's fine. Thank you." She switched off the computer. "So Jack, you may have won my badge, but your real challenge starts now. I know you're up for it." She looked out the window at the few stars over the city and smiled, heading in to bed.
