Story Notes:

I'm having at least 6 Chapters for this story. Most of it is flashbacks, but you'll like it later on.

Learning Again

I was introduced to a Pokeball, and wasn't forced to stay in it. In fact, I was given a choice. I preferred to be outside, so I decided to stay with Brandon.

As we started walking, he said to me "Now, all my other family members know English, so I guess it's time for you to learn."

"Ee?" I asked. I already knew a language. Why did I have to learn another one?

"Well, we'll start with that letter. E. Now, the next letter. V."

"Vee." I said. This was going to be easy.

"Okay, now let's get a bit harder now. Those two letters you say all the time. Now, let's go with A."

"Ee." I said.

"Okay, we'll work with that. I want you to open your throat up more than when you say E."

"Ehh." I said. My voice was weirder than when I was just saying my name.

"Alright, you're getting there! Now, use that as the beginning, and then transfer to E. Like, Ehh, ee."

"Ehh, ee. Ehhee. A. A. A!"

"There ya go!" Brandon said.

I jumped for joy. My first letter in Human. I shouted it once more. "A!"

"Alright. Now, let's get to the next letter. B."

"Vee." I tried to say.

"Close. Close your lips, then blow out, letting your lips fly open. Like this." And Brandon made a "Buh." sound as he did it.

I copied him, and got the same sound that he got.

"Okay, now say E at the end of that right when your lips open up."

I tried it, and got "Buh, ee."

"Almost! Closer together."

"Buh, ee. Buhee. Bee! B! B!"

"Alright! There ya go!"

It continued like that until we had gotten to the entrance to Mt. Coronet. I had never been this far from my cave before, and I was a little nervous. And Brandon seemed to see this, so he said "Nervous?"

I nodded. I wasn't just nervous, I was downright terrified.

"Well, as long as you're with me, nothing will hurt you. I promise."

I nuzzled him, as he picked me up. We then walked into the dark cave. Altogether, it wasn't too bad! Sure, it was dark, but then again, it had a mysterious glow that set it apart from the rest.

"Okay, so let's keep learning those letters. I believe we're on H. Now, this one's tricky. It took about a few days for each of my family to learn it. Now, let's start with Ae, like with the letter A."

"Ae." I said.

"Okay, now with something new. Tuh."

I noticed how his tongue was used to make the sound, and noticed that it looked pretty dry. I hopped out of his arms.

"Frost? What's up?"

I then went behind Brandon and jumped onto his bag and clung on.

He smiled and got the idea. "Yeah, you're probably right. We need a break." Brandon grabbed his pack and pulled it off.

As it hit the ground, I jumped off of it. 'Mission accomplished. I'm hungry.' I thought.

Brandon pulled from his pack a few cans, a few bowls, and a big water jug. I gaped in awe at the size of the jug. And it was full. How he was able to carry that much weight, was beyond me.

He then looked at the jug and smiled. He then jumped, and boy, did he jump! He jumped so high, he was able to touch one of the stalactites on the ceiling! He then landed softly on the ground.

He smiled and said "Betcha didn't know I could do that."

I just stood there; mouth gaped open, and shook my head no.

"Heh. I carry this water jug around so as to keep weight on my legs. The heavier it is, the stronger I get when I take it off. Though, it does get sore after a while." He rubbed his shoulders with a grimace. "But, right now, it's lunchtime." Brandon pulled off the rest of his Pokeballs and threw them on the air. "Come on out, guys!"

Everyone was released in a flash of light. Caesar was the first to speak up. "What's up, Brandon?"

"It's lunchtime. We need a break, and I need a nap." Brandon said as he collapsed. Just as he was about to hit the floor, he just stopped. There was a purple glow around him. I looked at mom. Her eyes were glowing with the same purple. She was using her powers to keep Brandon from falling painfully on the ground. She set him down gently, and said "So, who wants dinner, then?"

Everyone voiced their agreement. She then used her abilities to open the cans and pour them in the bowls. "Frost, sweetie, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to share a bowl for now. I'm sure that when we reach Snowpoint, Brandon will buy you your own bowl."

"That's fine!" I said to her. "Can I share with anyone?"

"Get over here, you." Derek said.

I ran over to Derek with his bowl. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it, squirt." He said with a grin.

I growled at this. "Don't call me squirt!" I said, angrily.

"You're smaller than me. You're a squirt."

Mom had placed the bowls of food and water and I took a drink, but kept a bit of water in my mouth. I then squirted it at Derek. He was shocked at the gesture, and fell backwards. I hopped on top of him. "Who's the squirt, now?" I said with an evil grin on my face.

Derek just laughed. "I treated Red the same way and he wasn't as brave as you are."

"Hey! Remember, I'm a fire-type! Of course I was scared of a ground-type! Doesn't mean I am now!"

"Yeah, yeah." Derek got up, and I jumped off of him. He then went to his bowl. I followed him to it, and began eating, same as him.

We were eating for a good time. Then, Caesar had finished his food and water and sat down next to Brandon's unconscious form. "So, Frost, learning English?"

"Huh?" I said. "Well, yeah. How did you know?"

"Well, you haven't been inside your Pokeball long, but they're soundproof. And by my count, you're on H right now."

"Y-yeah." I said.

"Well, let me teach you a secret that I found. Come over here."

I abandoned my food and went over to Caesar, curious about how to say H easily.

He lifted my ear and whispered something in my ear. I gasped. "It's really that easy?" I asked.

"Yep. And I haven't told anyone else here how it works."

I gasped. I smiled, then ran over to the bowl that me and Derek were sharing, but as I was reaching the bowl, Derek was walking over to Brandon. I ran to the bowl, and to my horror, the bowl was empty. I sat on the ground, and cried.

"Your own fault for being slow, squirt." Derek said.

I felt angry. I turned around and still had tears in my eyes, but was not crying. These were tears of anger. "Call me 'Squirt' one more time." I said in a dangerous voice.

Derek smiled and stood up. "You- little- squirt."

This was the last straw. I ran as fast as I could at Derek and Tackled him in the midsection. He gasped in pain, and fell backwards. I wasn't going to let him just get away with a bit of pain. I wanted him to feel completely sorry for what he had done, and used what Arceus gave me. I bit down hard on Derek's bone arm.

Derek screamed out in pain. "GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF!" He shook, but I wasn't letting go. After a bit, I could taste blood. It told me that I was getting what I wanted. Derek was in pain, and I was the cause. He kept shaking, but I held fast. After a few more seconds, he stopped shaking, and just sat on the ground, crying himself. "I'm sorry. Just let go of my arm! Please!" He said, this time, him sounding scared.

I heard the fear in his voice and let go finally. I licked the blood from my lips and said "Don't call me squirt again." in a dangerous voice. I walked a bit, leaving the group.

I sat down, feeling very hungry. I then just decided it was time to sleep. I laid my head down, and closed my eyes.

After only a few minutes, I was woken by a hand. Not a rough one, but a gentle one. "Wanna talk about it?"

It was mom. "I was just tired of being made fun of. I got that a lot back with my old pack. They all made fun of me for swimming in the creek. Then, when Derek made fun of me, it reminded me of my pack, and I just snapped." I said this crying. "I didn't mean to hurt him. I just wanted him to know the pain I felt." I just laid there crying. "Plus, I was hungry, and he ate all of the food that we were supposed to share. And I'm still hungry!" I cried.

Mom smiled. "Which is why I brought you this." She used her abilities to bring forth Derek's bowl. It had food in it. "I purposefully didn't fill the bowls up all the way, figuring you were going to get gypped on food. Here." She set the bowl down at my feet, and my mouth was watering. A whole bowl for me. I dug right in, and mom smiled. She then walked a ways from me, and sat down, and closed her eyes.

I had heard of this. Psychic Pokemon don't sleep. They meditate. I think that was what she was doing now. I just kept eating, and once the bowl was finished, I was full. I was happy that mom had done that and then went to her and curled up in her lap and slept. Mom smiled in her meditative state, and just let me stay there.

The next morning, or whatever time it was in that cave, I woke up, and hopped out of mom's lap. As I did so, her meditation ended. "Oh, mom. I'm sorry. Did I disturb you?"

"No. I ended my meditation on my own. Do not worry."

I sighed in relief. I then went over to where Brandon was already getting up. "How'd you sleep?" He asked.

"Ev eev eevee." I said.

"Good. Well, we still have a while to go. Everyone, back in your balls." Caesar grabbed his Pokeball and set himself inside. As did Derek. Then, Red, then mom used her abilities to bring her Pokeball to her and set herself inside, before using her abilities while in her Pokeball to set herself in Brandon's hand. "What about you, Frost? Want to learn some more English, or do you want to be in your Pokeball?"

I hopped up to his arms, and he got the hint. "Okay, you're with me. Now," he said, as we started walking. "We were on H if I remember."

I blurted out the letter he was getting me to learn. "H."

"Huh?!" Brandon was surprised. Then, he laughed. "Well, I guess we can skip H now, since you know it."

It went on like that for a good long while. When he finally got me to learn Z, he had me recite the alphabet.

"A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, gay, K,"

"Hold on. Try J again." Brandon said.

"J-j-Jay. J."

"There ya go. Now continue from there."

I recited the alphabet perfectly from then. Once I was finished, Brandon applauded my efforts. "You did very well, Frost! Now, we move onto sounds."

It was daunting, but now that I was taught the letters, it was a lot easier for me. We got to learning words about halfway into the mountain.

Then, when we reached the entrance, I knew most words that I would need. Brandon said that I'd learn more as I heard them. Once we reached the mouth of the exit of the cave, there was a weird howling. Brandon smiled, and pulled out a giant poofy coat from his pack. It was as if that bag had everything in it. He slipped off the pack for a minute, and then slipped on the coat, then pulled the pack back on. He then picked me up again, and buried me within the coat. "It's going to get pretty chilly, Frost."

"I can deal." I said to him, glad that I could talk to him finally.

He smiled. A smile that was warm and inviting. He dashed out of the mouth of the cave, and I felt the fur on my face instantly freeze over. It was cold!

Brandon ran as fast as he could, flinging snow over trainers that would have otherwise wanted us to battle. We kept up this pace, until we were stopped by something tripping us. It was a small bump. When we fell into the snow, I felt my gob fill to the brim with the cold stuff. Brandon got up, and I spit it out, tasting leaves as well as the snow.

Brandon turned around, and we saw a Snover sobbing a bit.

"Oh, dear! Are you alright?" Brandon asked.

Just then, the Snover let out a horrible wail. Just within that time, we felt a quake of the ground. We looked for the source, and found a giant Abombasnow coming our way.

"Uhh, Brandon?" I asked.

"Yeah?" He replied, sounding fearful.

"Now would be a very good time to... RUN!" I shouted. As I did, the Abombasnow shot a Hyper Beam at us. We were lucky to get out of the way of it just in time. Brandon booked it as fast as he could to wherever, and just as luck would have it, we tripped again. This time, on a rock that was incredibly slick with ice.

We were trapped. The Abombasnow had cornered us, and wasn't too happy about having her baby attacked like that. Her fist became a gigantic hammer-like thing, and it didn't look like it was going to let us escape with our lives.

The creature brought the hammer down, and I waited for the inevitable squish. But, it never came.

I opened my eyes, seeing Brandon holding up the Wood Hammer attack, and said "Brandon! Get away from that! If it crushes you, that's it!"

"Frost, get away from here! I'll hold this guy off as long as I can! Just get away!"

Then, the Abombasnow kicked at Brandon's legs, and he fell. She raised her hammer up again, ready to strike. I then heard her laughing. "Puny human." She said stupidly.

Then, I felt something. My anger was boiling over. So much, that it felt as if the heat were ice instead. I was being lifted into the air. I then landed on the ground, a few minutes later, a gleaming Glaceon.
