Story Notes:
I came up with the story one morning, and I've been frantically trying to construct it. This is my first story on AGNPH. I hope you enjoy it. I'll try to update as often as I can
Penance
I left the professor's office feeling a multitude of different emotions. I knew that the events surrounding the day had been mysterious, but I had never before thought of them as being revelations to some grandiose truth.
I sighed. As tempting as it was to dissect my interpretations, it would have to wait. Right now, I had a job to do.
At the end of the hallway, I saw a door marked "Research Garden". I had found the place at last. I walked inside cautiously, not wanting to startle mew the same way that Nick had. I opened my mouth in awe. The place was, to put it simply, paradise. Large payapa berry trees stretched far beyond my line of sight. A waterfall tumbled down a stony wall and into a small little brook that stretched quite a distance as well. Oddish had placed themselves along the area where the waterfall hit the brook, having the resulting splashes sprinkle upon their heads.
I noticed that there was some light coming into this room, but couldn't trace the source. He looked up and was surprised to see the moon. This place was incredible!
My focus shifted to a spot that was in the center of a clearing. A pokemon was sitting on the grass, looking up at the moon in the sky. It was mew.
Slowly, I walked to the spot where the mew was, wondering how I was going to do this. I decided to try a slightly bolder approach. I went to the mew's side and sat down next to it, smiling. "It's a nice night, isn't it?"
The mew turned to me with its head tilted to the side, as if assessing me. I took this opportunity to examine it a bit closer. The mew looked back at me cutely. I orally dictated my observations as I made note of them.
"The mew is not afraid of being within close proximity to me", I spoke as I wrote. "The fur is not spread across its body proportionately, mainly in the forms of tufts of furry areas"
I looked back at the mew, which was still looking at me with its head tilted. I smiled. It might have been my imagination, but I thought I saw the mew smile back. I turned back to my notes.
"The mew displays a remarkable curiosity about my actions here in the garden. The pokemon's actions seem highly contemplative compared to most pokemon stricken with curiosity."
I finished up other routine measurements of the mew. Mew didn't seem to object in any way at all. Everything went smoothly for me, except when I had to check the mew's gender. I had looked between its legs and saw a slit. I had recorded the mew's gender as being female, but for some reason it had taken me longer to write that information down that any of the other pieces of information.
I yawned as I finished the last bit of the data collection. I shut my notebook and looked up. I gasped and shifted back a bit. Mew had been floating right in front of me just inches from my face. Mew still looked at me with her head tilted to the side. What exactly does this pokemon want from me?
I mentally slapped myself for my last comment. Why am I being so paranoid all of a sudden?
"Ah... sorry. You just surprised me, that's all", I explained.
"Mew?", was the pokemon's reply, tilting her head even more to the side.
I couldn't help but laugh at that. "You have no idea just how cute you are!"
I looked at the mew again, and this time I saw something different in the way that she looked at me. The look was so much deeper than any of the others that I had received from her before. We locked ourselves in each other's gazes for what seemed to be an eternity. I was trying to be careful... I wanted to break the gaze with her, but I wanted to do it in such a way that it didn't appear that I was repelling myself from her.
I finally made my move. I broke my gaze and moved forward to my left. At the exact same time, mew broke her gaze and moved forward to her right. Our heads gently collided. I couldn't help but giggle.
"Ouch", I joked. This was by far the craziest experience I had ever had with a pokemon.
Apparently, I had spoken too soon. Mew had taken this opportunity to move her face closer to mine. She leaned in and kissed me full on the lips. My eyes widened with shock and I suddenly found myself forgetting how to breathe.
After ten seconds, she finally broke the kiss. I was still in shock. She looked at me and yawned. Then, she laid herself on the floor and began to fall asleep.
I was still stuck with that same face. I wanted to react. Any reaction would be better than a dumb stupor. Yet, I truly didn't know how I was supposed to react to what just happened.
I looked at her. She was sleeping peacefully on the ground. I flopped myself on my back, in deep thought. Does that kiss have the same meaning to her as it does to me?
I laid there until I fell asleep... wishing I knew.Chapter End Notes:Things are going to be getting very, very ominous from this point forward. The warnings for this story apply from this point forward.
In the next chapter: Yeshua tells mew about his past, and the major truth begins to surface.
