Story Notes:
This story is a continuation of Story of a Boy and His Mate. I tried to get more people to write for the filler stories between breaks, but only one person rose to the call. So now, that one person will have their Pokemon added to this story. Seikiru, Ember will be a valuable asset to the team. Sorry if she seems out of character, but I just use the excuse that 3 years with Dustin has changed her quite a bit.
Cipher's Old Tricks
When we last left off, a Cipher Goon had taken Mar. Looks like Cipher is back to their old tricks in the Orre Region. But, better to read then to get a synopsis.

I ran. I ran without a destination in mind. I just had to get somewhere with habitation, but it was scarce in this desert. 'How you holding up, sweetheart?'
'Oh, I'm just perfect, except for the fact that I CAN'T MOVE!'
'I'm working on that! Just gotta find-' As soon as I said something to her, I started to see what looked like a glass building just at the outskirts of the Desert. I knew because behind it, and in front of it, was green. Not just green, lush with plant life. I ran as fast as I could to it, stopping at the front of a set of steps leading to the entrance to the building. Good thing I had gotten dressed and became human before I left, because there was a teenage girl approaching.
"Hi. Welcome to Professor Michael's Laboratory. I'm Jovi, his assistant. How may I help-" She just now noticed Sylvia on my back. "Oh my... Get inside, hurry." She ran up the steps, her long blue hair swaying in the wind as she ran. I followed her, and as soon as she entered the building, she shouted "BIG BROTHER! EMERGENCY!"
At the shout, an elevator whirred on the other side of the building, opening up to reveal a male in a white lab coat, sporting spiked out red hair. Jovi addressed him. "That hairstyle went out of season 10 years ago."
"Hey, don't mess with a classic. I stopped a Shadow Pokemon conspiracy with this hair-do!" The man touched the top of his hair gently.
"Whatever you say, big brother." She turned to me. "This is my big brother, Professor Michael. He runs the Laboratory here. Big brother, do you see what I see on his back?"
Michael took a closer look. "Hmm. By gods, it's Cipher's make."
"Who the heck's Cipher, and what do you mean they made Sylvia?" I asked frustrated.
"No, you misunderstand me. Cipher's an evil corporation that 10 years ago, they tried to take over the world with an army of Shadow Pokemon." Michael talked while still looking over Sylvia.
"Okay, but then, what do you mean by it's Cipher's make?" I asked. I was asking questions, and they all weren't being answered.
"The poison flowing through your Pokemon. Don't worry." He added, seeing the freaked out face I had as soon as he said poison. "All it does is make your Pokemon unable to do anything. It's like a complete Paralysis. Simple thing to fix if you know how, really. Jovi." He addressed his kid sister. "Go into mom and dad's old room and into that under room. There should be a bottle called Inoculant Antidote."
"Uhh... how do you spell that?" Jovi asked, sweatdropping instantly.
"It's the green bottle with big words you won't understand." Michael said plainly.
"Ohh, okay. I'll find it. Be right back." And with that, she ran off.
Michael then turned to me. "Now down to matters. What exactly happened?"
It took about a minute to explain what happened to him.
"Hmm... all black, you said?" Michael asked.
"Yes. My own son wouldn't mistake something as minimal like that."
"I see. This complicates things a bit. If Cipher has changed their clothes, this is going to be very difficult." As soon as he said this, Jovi appeared next to him and held out a bottle. "Ah, thanks, squirt." He took the bottle from her.
"If mom and dad were still here, you'd be in big trouble for that!" Jovi said, sticking her tongue out.
"But mom and dad are not here, so get used to it. I'm in charge." He pulled out a needle from his lab coat, and stuck it in the top of the bottle, tipping it upside down. As he did so, he pulled the plunger down, and a clear liquid started filling the needle chamber. As he stopped, he brought the bottle to it's normal standing, and pulled the needle out. "Can you communicate with her?"
"Of course." I replied. "Why do you ask?"
"Tell her she's going to get a needle shot in her. It will help her back to normal."
I nodded, and focused my thoughts to her. 'Love, there's a guy here that's going to inject you with an antidote.'
'As long as I can move afterwards, I'll be fine. How long will it take to take effect?' She asked me.
I brought my focus back to the real. "How long will it take for the Antidote to work?"
"It depends on the Pokemon. If the Pokemon has strong will, it could take effect instantly, or if the Pokemon were weak willed, it could take days. In any case, from the way you're talking about her, I'm sure she's got a strong will. It should take effect sometime in the next minute after I inject her."
'Give it a minute, hun.'
'Okay. I trust you.'
I focused back. "Go ahead and inject her."
Michael nodded. "Fine. Then, place her on the table." He indicated to the empty Secretary desk.
"Uhh..." I started. "Would it be alright if I just held her while she was injected?"
Michael just chuckled. "Well, if you insist." He approached me, and placed the needle in Sylvia, injecting her with the Anti-Inoculant. As he did, he stepped back, pulling the needle out as he did, staying his distance from Sylvia and me.
The reason was made apparent soon. As I took a step, Sylvia awoke, and grabbed me by the throat, ready to tear it clean off my head. I used Double Team to evade her attacking me. I reappeared myself in front of her. "Hun, it's me. It's Dustin."
She snarled, and ran forward at me. Like she was feral. I dodged her attack, but as I did, she fired a fully charged Aura Sphere right at me. I used Drain Punch at minimal strength, which served enough of a purpose to absorb some of the attack, but not all of it. It blasted, sending me back a few feet, but I landed on my feet, sliding back another 3 feet. "What the hell did you do to her?!"
"In order to reawaken her, I had to boost her adrenaline levels. That's why she's so aggressive. I told you to place her on the table." Was Michael's response.
"FUCK!" I got in a ready stance, and Sylvia charged an attack in each hand. One, I could recognize as the Drain Punch, but the left one... it couldn't be. I hadn't taught her that. Unless...
"Love, be sure you use it right! Cause if you don't, you're going down hard!" She was going to use the same combo that I had used against that PokeJa. She remembers. She's just conflicted, and confused by the adrenaline boost. If I know what's coming, I could counter it, and make sure that I would get her out of her high.
She snarled, and I knew that she was coming. As she dashed forward, she disappeared. However, I could see exactly where she was. At the right time, I moved to the side, and her Vital Throw was thrown exactly right where I thought it was going to go. I grabbed her arm and flung it over my shoulder, making a gigantic thud on the ground. As she hit, I pounced on top of her, and pinned her arms to the ground.
She started snarling and moving her body left and right in an attempt to free herself from her predicament. However, I wasn't letting go. Not until I did one thing. I timed it right, and moved my head straight for hers, kissing her passionately.
Her eyes instantly went bug-eyed, and her struggling dimmed slowly, and just as slowly, started turning into sorrow, from the tears that were adorning her eyes. Altogether, she stopped struggling, and closed her eyes, returning the kiss.
Michael was watching this, and Jovi was awestruck. Michael grabbed her and covered her eyes. "Ehh, let me go, Big Brother!"
"Nope. You're not going to watch this. This is grown up stuff."
I released her hands, and held her head passionately while I kissed her. She, however, took one of her hands, and whacked me upside the head and broke the kiss.
"Oww! What was that for?"
"That was for flinging me on the ground."
I turned my head away, ashamed that I had hurt the one I loved like that. "However..." My head turned back. "This is for getting me back to normal." She grabbed my shirt, and pulled me to her lips, kissing me deeply and passionately. I greatly returned the kiss, but soon broke it. "No time, love. We've gotta try to get Mar back."
'Could I be of some assistance? After all, he is my Grandson.' Out of nowhere, an older looking Lucario materialized. He was an impressive sight to behold.
"Dad!" Sylvia jumped up, flinging me onto my back on the cold hard floor. I then knew how much pain it was for her when I did that to her. Sylvia hugged her father. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, your mother left me here in this time, after traveling for 20 years." He sounded like he had aged 20 years.
"Wait. We've only parted ways for 3 years." I said quickly.
"Look. I just got back from being in Time Limbo for 20 years. Don't ask me to explain the mechanics of the Space-Time Continuum."
"Uhh..." Those words just completely floated right over my head.
The Professor, however, spoke up quite plainly. "It means he left you guys, and went teleporting all over time. He could be in the year 10,000 BC for 20 years, making it 9,980 BC. Then, appearing here for you guys now. Seem simpler?"
I nodded my head. "Much simpler. How do you do that?" I asked.
"Do what?" Michael responded.
"Make things extremely simple so that us non-scientists can understand that stuff?"
"Oh, that's easy to explain, too." Michael cracked his neck. "Basically, I have lived with my little sister without our parents here for a good 6 years. I had to learn to make things simple."
"Ohh." I replied. "So, where are your parents, then?"
"Oh, they're in the Kionz Region, studying any sort of new Pokemon that might be out there."
I made a mental note of Kionz. However, there were more pressing matters. "Yeah, Marden. We could use all the help we could get."
Marden just nodded and looked out the front glass doors of the laboratory. "It's going to be a long and arduous journey. As well, by the time this is over, something bad, or something good will happen that will tip the scale of the world's health."
I remembered that Lorana had said something like that before. That Mar would be the deciding factor. But, what could be so big that it would affect him, and be caused by him? What could he have? I decided it wasn't meant to be known now, or it would have been said. Instead, I looked out at the sandy horizon... well, more of a sand hill than anything... watching the sun sink behind it. I turned to Michael. "Could we get a place to sleep for the night? I doubt we'll be able to do anything until morning. One, I'm tired from that battle, and two, my night vision sucks."
Michael chuckled. "Yeah, we've got a couple of spare bedrooms here." Michael led the group to the elevators. As they all packed in... literally packed in... they rode to the second floor, where 2 doors were opened, Jovi in-between each of the doors. "One for the lady, one for the guys." She said.
Marden shook his head. "I will take a room by myself. Those two can share a room." He gestured to me and Sylvia.
I looked at Marden and smiled. Jovi, however, looked puzzled. "Well... okay, then." She left, and went down the elevator. Marden took one room, and Sylvia and I took the other. The room we entered wasn't too spectacular, but there was a Queen Size bed. We each took a side, and laid down for some much needed rest. The last thing that went through my mind as I lay to sleep was 'Mar... what could you hold for the Earth's future?'

"The machine is in place, Sir." Called out a Peon.
"Excellent. Make sure this goes right, or we'll have done all this for nothing! This creature's blood was tested positive! If we do this successfully, we'll make history!" The supposed leader called out "Begin Operation XDI!"
There was a whir of a machine coming to life. I looked around, gagged and bound, unable to move, but only to use what I could. And what I felt I could do... I focused my mind at the machine that was whirring, and there seemed to be a spark from it.
"What's going on?" The leader asked.
"Sir, it seems the machine is malfunctioning!" That same Peon replied.
"NO! Not when we're this close!" The Leader pressed a few buttons on his keyboard. It gave an error message on his screen. "DAMN!" He pounded the keyboard, and that was the last thing I saw before a wave of powerful pain shot through my entire body. It felt as if all the happiness was being sucked from my body. I felt scared, and cold. Almost, turning evil. I fought to keep myself happy. I tried almost everything, then one thought sent everything haywire: my mommy and daddy. As I thought of those two, my body felt as if it was being ripped in two places. There was a flash of white, and I landed on the ground. After that, I remember nothing...

"Sir!"
I looked at the creature that was once a Riolu to me. It was now a Lucario. "This is brilliant! And, it seems it's still a Shadow Pokemon! This is brilliant! If this is right, we may have a powerful weapon! Contain it!" I called out.
"Yes, sir!" The Peon threw a dark Pokeball, As it flew at the Lucario, it stopped in mid-flight. It was then sent flying back at the Peon that had thrown it, smacking him dead center in the face. The Peon crumpled in explicable pain. The Lucario then looked at a wall, and it crumpled away. At that, the Lucario disappeared without a trace.
"We have created a very powerful Pokemon... but we can't control it... what have we done?"
