The First Trainer by mechsrule

Story Notes:

Yeah. I'm back. So anyway, I haven't made a verdict on whether or not I will revive NTG. I have decided a few things about it though. First, this is only if I do decide to revive it, it will be an almost total rewrite. The whole past thing was stupid so that will be dropped. So that can be considered non canon. However, this story is canon on what is non canon. If that makes sense. If you wanna know what's going on, read NTG for all the failure that it is. The warnings and such may or may not change as the story goes (depends how I feel), I haven't mapped it all out yet. This story shows how the first trainer came to be, and highlights one of my personal favorite psychic type Pokemon, Xatu. Anyway, I hope you like my story.Hey disclaimer:Disclaimer: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners. Chapter 4

And now for something completely different.

"Bye mom, I'm going into town to pick up some fresh meat." A boy called walking out the door, carrying an empty wood frame backpack and a cloak.
"Be sure to bring back some salt when you go." His mother called.
"I will mom." The boy replied equipping the cloak and pack and walked off on the several mile trip to town.
"Be careful and don't run into any humans on your way!" His mother said.

Elsewhere.

"I'm amazed that those two healed so fast." Alakazam said to Blissy, while watching steam rise from his teacup.
"Well we do have some decent medicine. That shipment of stolen supplies was quite useful." Blissy answered. He wasn't a fan of tea so he just munched on an old pastry.
"Plus they had that incident teleporting. It's incredible that Xatu could get them apart with such little consequence."
"And it healed them a bit." Blissy added. "He made a sort of skin graft so he wouldn't bleed out and the human was patched up a bit internally."
"Most of that must have been accidental. It's impossible enough to separate two beings fused into one, but to also heal oneself. What may have happened was he forgot to account for the wounds so when he teleported, they were filled in from other parts of his body at random. Though with the girl... I believe any extra material needed comes from the teleporters body so it's lucky that didn't cause a reaction." Alakazam explained.
"That may be a problem." Blissy said oddly stunned. "They are compatible I think, there would have been a rejection sooner. The problem is the medicine I gave them creates stem cells that mimic the surrounding ones DNA and fill in the gap and function of the missing ones. The only injury that was half healed and from what you say would contain his cells right?"
"Correct."
"Well, I don't know human biology at all but if that happened to be the wrong organs..."
"I told you the future would be interesting. It's just a shame now I can't see it. I wonder when they'll discover this." Alakazam chuckled.

"Ah-choo!" Sara sneezed.
"Arceus bless you." Nat said.
"Who?"
"The creator of everything, Arceus." Nat explained briefly.
"I'll pretend to know what you're talking about." Nat stopped suddenly and Sara ran into him. "What?"
"There's a human up ahead." Nat said. "The mind is very strange but definitely human." Sara lifted up the branch she had been using for a walking stick and held it like a staff to defend herself.
"Where?"
"This way. It seems harmless enough so let us see if he is a threat. If he is then we attack. If he isn't we simply leave." They crept slowly through the brush in the right direction. As they got closer they began hearing a voice.
"What's he?" Sara whispered. Nat silenced her by covering her mouth. His voice filled her mind.
"Talk in your mind. I'll hear it." Sara nodded and they drew close to the source of the sound. They carefully parted the brush and were confused by what they saw. It was a small clearing, just an open area. What was standing there was human but was dressed very oddly. He wore a small tank top and shorts, both a faint purple color. The only other clothing was some red shoes and gloves. Not boxing gloves but gloves that covered the hand and left the fingers free, like cycling gloves. Nearby was a cloak
The human boy, about Sara's age was punching a spot on a tree and by the looks of the tree, had been for a while and on many occasions.
"I'm going to beat you Cody. I swear some day I will beat you!" The boy muttered.
"Think we should say hi?" Sara thought. Wondering if Nat would notice.
"He certainly isn't a treat. If he attacked I could throw him in a tree." Nat said "But-"
"Hi there." Sara said walking out before Nat could stop her. The boy whirled around, fists up.
"A human? Time for a live punching bag." The boy smirked.
"Whoa, what did I do?" Sara protested.
"You speak our language? No matter. You won't take me without a fight."
"Who said we wanted to fight you?" Nat said finally emerging from the foliage.
"Who's this, your slave?" The boy spat. "You humans are scum that must be wiped from the planet."
"He is my friend not my slave!" Sara shouted.
"And what about you? You're human." Nat pointed out
"I-"
"And who's the one picking on a little girl." Sara added.
"I'd different. Pokémon raised me so I would be a good human." The boy declared. "I am Wally the Hitmonhuman. Like it? I've been working on the name for a while"
"Yeah, awesome." Nat said sarcastically.
"I know it is." Wally replied not picking it up. "I know who I am but what are you doing here? Just because we are of the same species does not mean I will trust you."
"I ran away from home. We're friends and when he said he had to leave, I went with him."
"And as you are a human raised by pokémon, I am a pokémon raised by a human."
"We're Sara and Nat, exiles everywhere." Sara declared. "How's that for on the spot?"
"Eh. Okay I guess. What is your quest?" Wally asked.
"To seek sanctuary with my people." Nat answered
"Though you are fine here so this place might be tolerant." Sara pointed out.
"You'll have to talk to my mom. She might be able to pull some strings and let you stay." Wally said. "I'll take you there."
Sara and Nat glanced at each other. Without a word audible or otherwise, they nodded and followed the strange human home.
"Mom. I found someones who want to stay here." Wally called. An elderly Hitmonchan appeared in a doorway.
"Oh my." She gasped shrinking back.
"It's okay. I think we can trust them." Wally said.
"I can hardly think of a reason how a little human girl could control a Xatu so it must be of his free will and if he says you are okay, then I do to little girl." The Hitmonchan said. "Now what business do you have here?"
"We just want a place to live without people trying to kill one of us." Nat explained.
"Well you won't find that here. It was hard enough to allow Wallace to live here. It can't be done."
"Then it's off to your home." Sara said to Nat. "Bye."
"Wait." Wally said. "Do you really think it'll be okay there?"
"No, but they will trust me. Any psychic would. They should be understanding and open. Plus there were people after us and there may still be." Nat replied. "With them we would be safe."
"I shall go with you. I swear to defend you until you reach your goal. If you allow me to join you." Wally declared.
"You want to come along?" Sara asked.
"Honey, your home is here. Why would you want to leave?" Wally's mother asked.
"Mom. You raised me, cared for me, and I love you for it, but I never really belonged here. You know that. I just have this feeling that this is the right thing to do. If it isn't, I'll come back."
"I guess I can't stop you from leaving. Just be careful out there."
"I will mom. Good bye." Wally said. He packed his few things and the three left the small house.
"So, welcome to the team." Nat said bowing. Sara giggled.
"Now I have two big strong boys to protect me. Lucky me!" Nat and Wally laughed too.

Later that night they had set up a small camp consisting of the usual arrangement of a circle of blankets surrounding a small fire.
"Man this fire smells." Wally said scrunching his face up in revulsion.
"It's dung." Nat answered. "Smells bad but it creates a smokeless fire. Very important for remaining hidden."
"Ew." Sara added.
"So where exactly are we going?" Wally asked.
"That way." Sara pointed in the direction they were headed.
"It's instinct that's telling me where my home is. I've never been there so it should be interesting." Nat explained.
"How could you never been there?" Wally asked confused.
"I hatched with her. I don't recall how I got there but I was just an egg at the time." Nat answered.
"I just woke up one day and there he was." Sara added.
"Who would leave a vulnerable egg in human lands?" Wally said aghast.
"So how come you are here then?" Sara asked.
"Well, I don't know everything but my mom told me a couple times. Mom and dad's kids were killed by humans in a raid on our land. In retaliation they and some other victims' families slaughtered a human town. During the attack my mom found me. I was just an infant. She showed my father and said maybe I could be raised as one of them. To be the son they lost. Maybe if other humans saw how I was they would come around. It's tough though, most pokémon don't trust me and I don't like humans after seeing what they've done. Some day I'll become an emissary to humans so I can end this war."
"How?" Nat asked. Wally looked at him questioningly. "How can you be an emissary if you don't speak English?"
"I can't tell anymore." Sara added.
"I'll learn it or something. It can't be too hard. If every other human can speak it, I should be able to too."
"That's not how linguistics work but you might pick it up from Sara." Nat commented.
"So, how old are you?" Sara asked.
"My mom found me almost twelve years ago so that's good enough."
Great. You're the oldest now." Sara whined. "I'm thinking one day I'm going to have a really big group of pokémon friends. It'll be great!"
"Let's limit us to seven." Nat advised. "It's a lucky number, seven can move without being too suspicious and can still handle any threats."
"Okay." Sara agreed.
"Now let's get to sleep, we have a lot of traveling to do." Nat said. The three laid down and were out soon.

"Alpha team has failed to report. Beta team confirmed their deaths." A man said into a radio.
"And where are you?" the voice on the other end of the radio said.
"We are following them and if we can, we will eliminate the others." The man answered the voice.
"Why have you not done so already?" The voice demanded.
"The psychic already took out one team, and now there's some other kid with them. Going in now would be suicide and no one would know where they were. If we see an opening we will save your daughter, but striking too early would only result in our death and their escape." The man explained.
"Fine. Keep on them. If you lose them, you might was well go on a killing spree so you accomplish something before the next team eliminates you for your failure. Now who is this other kid?" the voice threatened.
"I'm not sure. He's human but he doesn't speak English. Your daughter seems to understand him but we can't. Don't worry sir; we'll save her no matter how long it takes."
"Good luck delta team."
